Pinays are smart, girl. We know about the rules here. They are basically the same with the laws in the Philippines when it comes to support and everything. It's common knowledge that if your husband dumps you for another girl and you have kids, you and your kids are entitled to support. It's mandated by the laws, you know, we read books too!

Tama ba ako?

since not all men in america are running to the philipeans for a wife i would say that not all men in the united states are thinking the same as these men here. there are alot of men who are happy with the american woman so that means there is nothing wrong with us at all.

also the men here have grown up in the same society as we have so if they call us spoiled then what are they then? not only american woman can be spoiled u know.

the reason the woman here act the way they do is because of how they were treated in the past. the woman stayed home, raised the man's kids, cooked, cleaned, ironed her husbands clothes...etc and then man was out sleeping with his secretary...secretary gets pregnant....man dumps wife for his lover...leaving wife and kids to defend themself....thus, womans rights evolved. courts started siding with the woman because she was doing her job as a wife....man broke up the marriege with cheating...woman gets alimony....man gets mad because he has to support his ex and kids....man hate american woman for that.

example 2. woman supports man while he go gets his education and then dumps wife when he gets his degree.

yes believe it or not...this is what changed the woman back in the day. they had to become self sufficient for her own sake as well as her kids.

sorry guys...cant change history.

Actually if your family was in the conditions that are in the Philippines I would think you would want to send money to them. I would support your decision. So that argument is completely weightless. Go to the Philippines and see the conditions then you will know. They are the hardest working people I have ever seen in my life. They believe in capitalism and will try to make money to live. Despite hard work many live in absolute poverty.

You are taking this chance to find criticism while at the same time claiming to be a victim of American attitudes in men. Just curious, would you say you are the typical American woman?

No offense meant to all american ladies here

no offense taken by u but these kind of threads usually are taken to start bashing american woman by the american men. they usually blame american woman for everything. they dont tell that the reason they are the way they are is because american men have differnt standards when it comes to an american woman. what a filipeno woman gets away with...an american woman cant and then the bashing starts.

such as if an american woman wants to help her family financially the man tells her to tell her family to get off their lazy butts and get a job...if a filipeno wants to send money to their family they are saints for it and praised. the american man wont tell u that part of the story. if the american woman wants to stay home and raise her kids she is know as a free loader, but if a filipeno woman dont work and stays at home with the kids...oh how sweet she is to want to stay at home with her kids and husband.

just telling u...we american woman are not as bad as these men say but it is them who has the double standards. im not here to bash the men here but just to set the record straight.

Rocky, have I read somewhere that you live in Guerneville, where Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen de Generes, Perez Hilton and Barney Frank go for the Zinfandel?

Not in Guerneville. Close to Guerneville about 8 miles. But we go to Safeway in Guerneville when grocery shopping. I think you are referring to Alexander Valley where some Hollywood celebrities are hanging out in the wineries for the Zinfandel. Alexander Valley wineries produce the best Zinfandel. Tom Hanks bought a winery in Alexander Valley and the winery grows Zinfandel grapes. As for the celebrities you mentioned, I don't know. Ask Manong AJ. He loves the Korbel Champagne. Korbel Winery is in Guerneville.

Should be nice there today in the Gay Bay Area, isn't it? At least compared to here in the Sonoran Desert; should be 105 again today with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. I guess we have to drive down to San Diego this weekend for the nice cool breeze from the sea.

It's nice weather if you live near the coast like San Francisco. Muy ventosa (windy). I like the warm weather though. Got tired of the winter. Have fun in San Diego.

QUOTE (Matt & Jovy @ Jun 27 2009, 08:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Iam not sure if there is already a topic about this..but anyway, I just want to share mine.

A long distance relationship is really hard and a constant communication with my fiance really helps me to survive for 6 years.

1. We talk every weekend/holidays on chat (I always make sure I dont have a schedule in the afternoon).
2. I call him everyday to wake him up. We chat on phone while he`s driving to work.
3. He calls me everyday after he leaves work and while driving on his way home.
4. We send each other text messages in the evening before he goes to bed or when I/he is out of the house (party, malls, school, etc.)
5. For 4 years we sent each other emails tons. We stop now because we prefer communications on phone.
6. I even communicate with him even while he`s sleeping. He just leaves his webcam open so I can watch/hear (love to hear his snores, makes me fall asleep) him while he`s sleeping and he does the same thing while I`m sleeping.

He`s always telling me that he talks to me more than he does with his family. Haha. I believe him. I know it is so expensive to make all the calls but hearing each other`s voice helps us to feel that there`s not much distance between us. It shouldn`t be talking about different/new topics because we usually run out of those, but we`re always reminding how much we love/miss and care for each other. What really matters is the happiness that we feel every time we hear/see (webcam) each other for as often as we can.

Well, hope to hear from you guys. smile.gif

For 6 years? Wow, it's been a long journey for you.

I reckon there ain't no problem during the interview. However, a real problem will exist in married life. How can a young woman live with somebody old enough to be her grandaddy or daddy? Will they ever be seen together in public? I reckon not! The young woman must be ashamed of being seen with her daddy or grandaddy. Be realistic, girls and old men! laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif

No problem for Mr. Bill. He just introduces me as his daughter. I hate it! mad.gif (Except when we are playing yes.gif)

I still think a lot has to do with how the Pinay presents herself at the interview. They know you are nervous, but if they feel something is not quite right, they will give the fiancee the third degree. Not much you can do, other than to make sure the future bride knows everything the CO knows about the future groom. If she does not know, make sure she says so, don't guess, because the CO probably knows the real answer. star_smile.gif

Hello everyone!

I know there's a poll somewhere on VJ about the age difference between filipinas and their husbands/fiances. I've seen it and saw many with large age gaps between the man and woman. I'm just curious. Did the consular officer bring this up during the interview? Did it cause anyone to get denied? I've been worrying about this the last couple of days. Her interview is June 16th. She just needs to do one more thing for her medical related to her recent surgery. We have a legitimate relationship and proof of such for three and half years now. Maybe I'm just worried about nothing but any reassurance would make it easier to sleep at night. I really don't want anymore delays.

Thanks everyone and good luck with your visa journey.

Best wishes,

Grace & Steven

It depends on the age and how experienced the girl is. If she is barely passed being a teenager, fresh from the barrio, and can hardly speak English, and the guy is like 60 years old, grizzled and gray, chances are fairly good you might get a fraud investigation.

QUOTE (mariquita linda @ Jul 2 2009, 08:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The Fourth of July is upon us and almost everyone won’t be working Friday and that makes this weekend a long one. No doubt many of us will fire up the grill and enjoy the steak and potatoes and pancit and chardonnay and wait for the skies to be glittered with fireworks as nighttime falls. Some of us might go the beach or to the casino or to the amusement park or what have you.

As for me, my husband and I are driving to San Diego to temporarily escape from the heat of the desert sun. We’ll stop by the Indian casinos on the way and our sights are also set on Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. We’ll also visit his cousin who just came in from Nueva Ecija. We also yearn for a short drive to Baja from San Diego but I might not be able to reenter the US without the proper papers.

How about you? What will you be doing to pass the time and celebrate America’s birthday?

Good for you. This is the second 4th of July for me. I have work on Saturday until 11pm. We might go and see the fireworks Friday night.

There are 2 locations in Manila to do your CFO seminar, PRISM and Saint Marys.

I been reading and people seem to recommend St. Mary's.

I would like my SO to go to St. Marys.

HERES THE QUESTION: - Does it matter if my SO has a K2 derivative? Afterall they need not attend the seminars anyways, too young.

FEEDBACK appreciated smile.gif

i went to prism because they said it was closer to CFO (in Quirino) where its also close to the hotel that stayed then... they seemed nice and accommodating (based on my experience). they werent snob at all. they helped us on the do's and dont's at the airport, where to go in the US for sheltered homes (in case of spousal abuse), then individual interview asking personal questions about your SO (see if the relationship is real)... so id say go to prism... maybe those who went to st. mary's might want you to go there as well...

This PRISM you are talking about is the one in front of the DLSU in EQuitable PCIB? I went there for my fiancee counselling. If you are coming from Manila, then this one is closer to the CFO in Pres. Quirino Avenue.

yes in front of la salle (taft ave. diba?)... since i flew from the province and we stayed near at the embassy that time, we thought the prism is really close compared to st. mary's plus cfo in quirino is close as well

Yup, that's the one. Taga Sampaloc kasi ako kaya sa PRISM Taft Avenue ang malapit na CFO Counselling plus malapit din sa CFO sa Quirino Avenue. If you are coming to the USA on a fiancee visa, sa Taft Avenue muna unang pumunta bago sa CFO para sa stamp and sticker sa passport.

In Castro District? These guys also hang out in Guerneville by the Russian River. laughing.gif

How I am supposed to know....I was there only once...and I got LOST rofl.gif

Hey Eros, ain't I seen you holdin' hands with another guy waitin' for the BART train at the Embarcadero station?

Seriously, to the topic starter, you oughta drive down the coast on Highway 1 from the city all the way down to Monterey. Enjoy your visit to Monterey and you might want to stop by Inspector Harry Callahan, San Francisco PD, in Carmel and make his day!

I agree with General Lee. The Monterey Peninsula is a must when visiting California. San Francisco's Castro District is where you can find most of the opponents of Prop 8, such as Michael Jackson's ghost, Rosie O'Donnell and Perez Hilton. star_smile.gif

laughing.gif Do you think Michael Jackson's ghost is still hanging out there? laughing.gif

We are just using the car one day so we can drive up to Santa Rosa. The two days in San Fran will be public transport or foot.

Thanks!

Hello VJers,

Me and my husband will be having our delayed honeymoon in San Francisco this coming August. I am looking forward for this trip because I really want to see the San Francisco bridge and the Alcatraz while my husband wants to go the wine country. What other parts of this state that we must see guys? We'll rent a car at the airport but we'll be there for 3 days only. Any suggestion's appreciated.

If you have the time and looking for a bit of nature...A drive north up the coastal highway (Highway 1) with a return trip
through the highway of the Giants (Giant Redwood Forest) is a nice day trip.

Another,,, good trip if crossing the GoldenGate is to spend part of the day in Sausalito. It is just across the bridge on the right.

Of course,,, Food, Food, Food... China Town, Little Italy, and of course getting a little homesick Daly City is home to lots of Filipinos
including the presense of a Goldilocks.

Also, keep in mind. Depending on where you plan to spend your time... It is very expensive to park around SF and usually quicker and
easier to use public transportation. When traveling on business there we usually rent a car during the weekends when we do the day trips.
And use the subway/trolley/taxi during the week around the Warf and Downtown areas.

Enjoy,

Santa Rosa is a nice place. There's a lot of wineries there and some state parks. Windsor is close to Santa Rosa. You might want to visit the Kendall Jackson Winery and the Charles Schulz Air Musem close to 101.

and also try to refrain other's grammars...yuck.that's so embarrassing when our own sentence composition is not good either

Ano kaya ibig sabihin niya ng " also try to refrain other's grammars... yuck" ? star_smile.gif

try to refrain insulting other's grammars..nawala lang ung isang word ko.pwede namn kasi ng mg correct ng grammar ng iba eh pero before we do we make sure na tama ang grammar natin and sentence construction natin etc...otherwise let's leave it to the professional ang mgcorrect.we thought we're so good and right that we tend not to see our own mistakes, myself included.and my only point is lets stay neutral.yun lang po.but if posting one's opinion here eh ,i will be attacked with people who are so smart and righteous..then i guess this site is just for you people who wants their opinion be read only here.and im sorry i have even joined here since my opinion which is nothing but very neutral is just being attacked by same people who thinks they are just the one deserving to be in this site.and i just want to say thank you for all the people who had helped me in my previous questions.hail to the mighty ones of this site!!!! i hope the unfair mod will not erase this post.and im talking to u ronmay.ur unfairness and judgemental reviews of post from not your friends is so overwhelming.i guess u will erase this huh

Your post is still visible here. Don't worry. Ron May knows better than that.
