PhilippinesManila Embassy Visa Same Day Pickup -- POSSIBLE ???
QUOTE (DouglasFiel @ Aug 3 2009, 01:05 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My wife will have her CR1 interview on August 17th. Through a fortunate set of circumstances (work sent me to Asia for this timeframe)
I WILL be present at the US Embassy in Manila for the interview.

With the USC being present at the Embassy, what are the chances that the Consular Officer will allow the Visa to be produced and picked
up the same day as the interview,,, Or, next day Embassy pickup? Personal experience is preferrable, but, opinion and conjecture is welcome.

I had read somewhere here,,, that the Consular Officer might ask if you have travel plans in the next 3 to 5 days. Anyone have this question asked?

Note: Our interview is at 8:30am on a Monday. I depart the following Sunday and was hoping to have her accompany me.

Thanks to all here on VJ. I just hope I have been as helpful to others,,, as this site has been to my wife and I.

Regards to all,

You may as long as you have compelling reason/s. I knew of a couple when I was interviewed in the US Embassy. They were scheduled to leave the next day for the United States. So they requested US embassy to pick up the visa on the same day and it took them the whole day waiting for it.

Just worried if there wnt be any problem when i go back in the US. Is there any papers i have to sign before i leave? Or the GC is enough already? I will only be out of the US for a month or less.

And also, i still dnt have my SSN. How long would they send that to us in the mail? we went to their office a week after we arrived in the US and applied but they said no need and jst wait for the ssn to be mailed to us in 3 weeks or a month. But it's past 1 month now and we still dnt have it. Do we have to go to their office and apply again?

Thanks for future replies..

You have your green card. You can go out of the country anytime. Just don't forget your passport and plane ticket laughing.gif Paper work you have to sign before you leave? I don't think so. Your green card is enough for your re-entry here.

I got my SSN after three weeks in the mail. I was told to wait after 3 weeks and they were right. But you can call their office and make inquiries why they are taking their sweet time sending you the SSN.

I hope your mom's gonna be okay.

We people sometimes love a person but too often we expect something in return-even if we say "I don't". If a person we love ignored us, we tend to be offended about it. But love for a pet is so much different- it's something you'll give but doesn't have anything to take.

We don't have babies yet, but we have "Maury" the monkey. star_smile.gif He's nice guy because he doesn't complain. Anyway, I like what you posted here. Tis true sometimes we expect a lot of things from the person we love and if sometimes they don't appreciate these things and then we stopped loving them which is not right. Loving someone should be unconditional, no strings attached. We give because we love and because we want to make them happy.

It's amazing feeling when you just love with no holds barred! People tend to love in a way they see it in movies or in others eyes.
Anyway, thanks that you liked the topic.

Maury is 2 years old. We adopted him. But he came from a yard sale. We were looking for a sewing machine and we saw him there sitting under the tree. So we got him too along with my sewing machine. I got his name from that crazy TV show, Maury Povich show. laughing.gif

First trip for a 1 week or so trip would include ... Medical exam on Monday, Tuesday ... cfo wed, thurs or fri ... have interview set up for the following Monday or Tuesday ...

Can either wait for visa in Manila ( Ask them if she can pick it up at the embassy at the interview ) or return home and wait for it via Air21

PhilippinesStory from Manila Times about Cory's gift to OFWs and 'crazy maids'???
QUOTE (DobermanGuy @ Aug 6 2009, 08:04 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Here is a link to the entire story that I was reading today in the Manila Times:

http://www.manilatim...090806opi2.html

This is a story about the effort that President Aquino made to help stranded, mistreated or abused OFWs have a 'safe' place to go if in need... Great story about Cory and the way she stood up to help OFWs

Here is an excerpt that surprised me:

"I was then the labor attaché to Singapore. When I learned that President Aquino was set to make state visits—first to Indonesia and then to Singapore—I got in touch with the office of my boss, then Labor Secretary Augusto Sanchez.

I said that if the President were to come to Singapore, it would be appreciated if she could bring a “pabaon” of sorts for an estimated 20,000 OFWs working in the city-state at the time. I recommended the establishment of a welfare home for runaway maids and stranded victims of illegal recruitment in need of temporary shelter.

It was my sad experience that every time a maid ran away from her employer, it became my duty to bring her to my home because there was no other place for her to stay. It became the practice of employers to bring their maids to the Philippine Embassy for not being able to work because of homesickness or for showing signs of losing their mind.

On one occasion, I brought home three maids whose employers had taken them to the embassy for showing “strange behavior” or mental disorder. At night, I asked them to sleep in the sala where they had to share a big mat.

One night, at about 2 a. m., I was rudely awakened by the screams of one of my “guests.” I went out of my room to find out what the matter was. The girl complained that one of her companions had tried to strangle her.

I had to bring maids with serious mental ailments to the Singapore mental hospital for treatment. I sent them back to the Philippines when they got well.

I felt that a welfare center in the embassy was an urgent need. I told my home office the problem of runaway maids and stranded workers was a serious one, seeing some of them spending the night at Singapore’s open parks. " end of quote...

blink.gif

My girl happens to be a housekeeper and a cook. She has been doing this for about 3 years now in Manila so she can support her family in Cebu. As of right now, I am SURE that her cheese is FIRMLY planted on her cracker. My girl is not 'crazy'...

Not nearly as 'crazy' as me but I guess i will have to keep my eye on her for any 'signs'... devil.gif

The story was not 'funny' because I am sure that some of the OFWs really are mistreated and need a place to go for shelter. The thing that struck me was how he seemed to single out 'maids' when talking about the OFWs with problems.

My honey has been away from her family for a while now and seems to handle homesickness well. I often wonder how she will handle 8600 miles of distance though...

I guess I need to be saving for LOTS of phone bills and occasional plane tickets! good.gif

Your girl is not crazy indeed. It's because Filipinos are the Mexicans in the Asian world. In Taiwan and even in Japan, they treat the Pinoys there like Americans treat the Mexicans here, having them do all the work no one else wants to do. In Singapore it's worse with the way they treat domestic helpers. They are so mean to them. But the Filipino workers in the Middle East, it's the worsts. Sometimes the husband rapes the filipina domestic helper and she cannot do anything about it without being called the criminal herself.

So, por el amor de dios chiquitas, tell me, tell the world that Pepe Alvarez ain’t me.

However, there might be some similarities; for example, we’re both into things Spanish.

Pepe probably likes to eat Tex-Mex menudo, which is the same as pinapaitan in Ilocano.

Furthermore, our wives both come from Davao, the most desirable place in Mindanao.

Now, why do I write like this? As if I am influenced by Jack and his wife Anais.

laughing.gif I don't think you and Pepe are one and the same Manong. Pepe is a horn dog. Are you? laughing.gif

I don’t believe in Superstition. That is baloney.

My wife has a Birthmark adjacent to her clit but it don’t mean nothing.

But my wife’s relatives in Davao are into superstitious beliefs Big Time.

They even believe that a Good dream the night before will win them big in jueteng.

I reckon the problem is in the truck. I have a Ford F-150 to haul my Ranger bass boat.

Of course we Texans always say that Texas is God’s country and don’t mess with Texas.

rofl.gif man, you very observant!

birthmark of her clit? that's interesting. He's not just observant but obviously a big eater of it. luv.gif

but I have to laugh "with her having a birthmark on her clit" I though that's rare. laughing.gif

edit: I hope his wife will not be mad at him by acknowledged people here about it. blush.gif

Ese lunar que tiene Pilar junto la #######, ... never mind.

Sure, Pepe must have wide eyes, a strong nose and a vicious tongue. whistling.gif Pilar might be spending a fortune on Lactacyd too. star_smile.gif

star_smile.gif laughing.gif Pepe is a horn dog and a flirt too boot.

Mariel, can I buy you a Margarita and a plate of carnitas with frijoles negros, guacamole and sour cream?

And we can spend the day picnicking by the banks of the Rio Grande.

Where were you before I met Pilar two years ago?

We should be making Sweet music together now.

I was off from work yesterday and I asked Mr. Bill if I can tag along with him to work. He says, "No! You're a jinx. You're going to cause the truck to break down again". His truck break down twice and each time I was sitting on the passenger seat. mad.gif He said I have a birthmark in my butt. I don't think so. Do you guys believe in "balat sa pwet"?

Nope. Its the truck. Tell Mr. Bill to buy a new truck. yes.gif

He bought that truck almost 3 months ago. It's a used truck anyway. It's his work truck. Thanks Rheanick. I don't believe in that too.
