Thanks in advance and God Bless!!!

You can ask the reverend of your congregation. You will get more help from the faithfuls. The reverend can always ask for second collection. star_smile.gif

PhilippinesWARNING about Shipping to the US via LBC Express....
QUOTE (Bob 4 Anna @ Sep 28 2009, 08:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We needed to send NVC a corrected DS-230 for my wife as her address history only went back to when she was 17.

We used LBC as she was going to be busy with SLMEC Monday and DHL is closed on the weekends (in Tarlac).

Just so you understand how LBC Express sips to the US:

They accept your package locally in the Ph and transport it to Manila.

In Manila they re-ship you package via UPS.

The only tracking number you will ever get form them is the LBC number, they aren't even intelligent enough to keep internal records that allow the employees to look-up the UPS tracking number for a package.

To get your UPS Tracking info you will have to call UPS (800) 782-7892 and speak to an agent. Give them the LBC Tracking number and tell them it's the "Reference Number" for the shipment.

All of this I don't have a problem with.

Use FedEx or UPS when sending documents from the Philippines to the United States. You can count on LBC when you are sending balikbayan box to the Philippines.

Here's the problem I have with LBC Express:

They believe they can (and should) change the Shipping Address as the person shipping obviously isn't smart enough to know where they actually want the package to arrive.

In our case, the NVC Barcoded Cover Sheet was quite specific that we shoudl ship the updated documents to:

National VISA Center
Attn. DR
31 Rochester Ave
Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909

Where did LBS decide to ship it:

National VISA Center
32 Rochester Ave
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2901

The receipt my wife has lists the correct destination but the UPS shipment doesn't.

I would hope that because of the Barcoded Cover Sheet the documents will get to the right place but still this is a company that I will never deal with again.

PhilippinesCivil wedding in Manila
QUOTE (Anne and Jeff @ Nov 5 2008, 07:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Greetings again. J and I (I am from Sta. Ana, Manila) are planning to have civil wedding here in Manila hopefully this year and as far as the requirements go, I think we are good. He will be here in the Philippines for about 20 days (I'm extremely happy as well since this will be our first time to spend the holidays together).

I was wondering if there are couples on here who got married (civil wedding) at Manila City Hall? Was it quite difficult to apply for a marriage license and finding someone to officiate the wedding? Is the marriage license as well as marriage certificate among other (ceremony included) fees different than when one marries the same race? (I hear a resounding yes lol but still..) I hope you could help us about this matter and the things we really need to know about civil marriage (apart from what's been provided by the family code of the Philippines).

Kindest regards to everyone and thanks in advance.

Don't get marry in Manila City Hall. They're gonna eat you alive there them employees. They charge more if you are an alien marrying a Pinay.

Maria Makiling

Maria Makiling is a character in Philippine mythology who is said to be a diwata, (equivalent of a fairy or goddess). She inhabits Mount Makiling in Laguna province, and protects the animals and plants of the mountain from those who would harm or defile it. Folklore usually portrays her as kind and generous towards human beings, giving them gifts and blessings. But when she is provoked to anger by the greed or cruelty of humans, she withdraws her favors and/or dispenses frightening punishments.

Her true name is not known; she is simply called "Maria Makiling" because "Maria" is a generic name for a woman, and "makiling" (crooked/uneven) refers to the mountain. Some say that "Maria Makiling" is the Spanish-era name of Dian Masalanta, the ancient Tagalog goddess of love, pregnancy and childbirth.

Stories

In one story, a man was hunting a wild boar in the mountain, and pursued it all the way to Maria's hut. Although she admonished him for harassing the boar, which was one of her creatures, she allowed him to come inside to rest and eat. Later, as he was leaving, she gave him a salakot full of ginger to bring home to his wife for cooking. As the man was walking down the mountain, the hat seemed to grow heavier and heavier; so he took out most of the ginger and threw it away. But once he was at home, he discovered that the remaining pieces of "ginger" had turned to solid gold. No matter how he searched, he never could find the other pieces that he had thrown away.

In another story, Maria had a lover who was a kind and handsome young farmer. The farmer's animals were always healthy, his crops always bountiful, and his fields were never harmed by storms or drought, thanks to Maria's protection. But one day, when all the unmarried men in the province were being conscripted to fight in the army, the young farmer's parents decided to keep him safe by marrying him off to the daughter of a rich family. He went one last time to visit Maria, who regretfully agreed that he belonged with a mortal woman and bade him goodbye, giving him a dress and jewelry for his bride to wear for the wedding. According to the story, ever since then, Maria no longer appears to people.

In a slightly different version, Maria actually had three suitors: a humble farmer, a rich mestizo, and a Spanish officer. When she declared her love for the farmer, the two other men were angry, and collaborated with each other to get revenge. They had the farmer arrested on trumped-up charges and sentenced to death. Just before he was executed, the farmer called Maria's name; but by the time she had rushed down the mountain, it was already too late. The grief-stricken Maria angrily denounced the townspeople for allowing an innocent man to be executed. Frightened, the two would-be suitors quickly fled the province; but Maria's vengeance found them, and they both met violent deaths.

A more modern account tells of a group of hikers on Mount Makiling who left their camp littered with human waste and empty cans and bottles. Searching for water, the hikers found themselves returning to the same spot over and over again, no matter how far they walked. Only after they cleaned up their camp did they manage to find water.

Your Pinay wife is very generous. My husband says you to take care of yourself first before you take care of others. So it's like this. We pay our bills first with our incomes and then whatever is left goes to my family in the Philippines. I send $100 to my mom because she needs the money for her medicines. So nice of your wife to be supporting her family, but not the extended family I guess including the niece. It's not her responsibility anymore.

The posts in that thread mention the consulate in Washington D.C. and California, but not Chicago. I need to know what is available in Chicago as that is where Marlene has to get her new passport.

You can call the Philippine Embassy in Chicago and ask them if there's a place where you can have your passport photo taken. We called the Philippine Embassy in San Francisco because we didn't know where to get my passport photo with royal blue background. We found out that I can get the passport photos in the embassy for $12 only. There was this guy (Pinoy) who has a studio with a polaroid camera who can take pictures anytime for $12. It's like a one stop shop which is very convenient.

Off-Topic2.gif sorry to the OP, your thead got hijacked.
but seriously, check the contract first. you can always complain to DepEd, Ched, or Labor Department.
You did not state whether it is a private school or not, so I can't really point you to the right direction.

Its a private school, but she found out today 3 days after she put in her letter of leaving that should would just have to work 1 month for free.I think she said they would make her work 2 months for free and pay that 40,000 fine. But,since they already have 5 people to interview they are letting her off light. With just one month wothout pay.And as soon as they hire another teacher she is free to leave.

I just think that is shady doing this. They normally pay her on the 30th,and she turned her letter in on the 27th,and on the 29th she got a note telling her she would not get paid. They seem to be quick with not having to pay their teachers when they are leaving.I guess she is lucky they are not sticking her with the full penalty. And they said they would release her records and give her a good eval.

Employer normally hold resigning employees last pay period plus all the benefits accorded to them (13th mo, unused paid leave, etc.) and shall be released upon completion of the necessary exit papers and clearances. I believe, the employer is not screwing your girl friend. You gf must understand her employment contract and her employer's policy to avoid speculations.

Thanks.

Marie is still waiting for her final settlement, almost two years now. Employers find out you are marrying a foreigner, they drag their heels, if they pay at all. Like I said before, good luck collecting! If you can avoid bringing up why you are leaving, do so.

Next visit to the Philippines, we are paying a visit to her old employer. But it is silly, really. She made 9,000 PP a month working as a transcriptionist in Makati. She almost makes that in two days here. I can make that on a single service call.

Mister Bill,

Please take note that P9,000 in the Philippines is a huge amount of money to an ORDINARY RANK & FILE EMPLOYEE... and there's no point of comparison between what she's earning now as first and foremost, the cost of living between Manila and USA is not the same. And yes, if your wife is earning $10 - $13 an hour, well yes, she'll earn that amount in 2 days... But how long a $10/hour job would sustain at least a middle class family in this country?

Depends on where you live and what your situation is. If you are living in Metro California and your rent is $1200/month, then it might be difficult. But with 2 incomes, you can survive on that.

I hope this isnt too forward a subject, but frankly I dont know where else to talk about this at.

Me and my wife got married in January 2008. The day of our marriage, she was going to go "home" which was 45 minutes away, so she could teach at her school the next day. The only reason she didnt do that is because it affected me so much, on our wedding day, that I cried.

We are together now. To this day I have not seen her naked. When we make love, the lights all have to be out. She wont let me touch her sexually unless we make love, and then only on her breasts. It really affects me....... We go round and round about this.

Is it cultural? Am I an idiot to be so affected? It is affecting our relationship.

Am very serious with this topic.

Thanks

WOW, thats not good. I do note that the Filipinos are far more conservative and they do not seem to have open conversations about sex as compared to here. But even so I would venture she is sexually repressed. It is more than cultural. Perhaps she had stern parents? Perhaps she is a victim of abuse or some type of bad experience that has left her unable to open herself to enjoying sex.
I am not sure how to deal with that. I know this sounds off a little but, uhm, get her drunk? Perhaps try a massage with her clothes on. She needs to "feel the tingle" and release them endorphins thingees. Good luck with your situation.

Or perhaps nobody told her about a lesson on the birds and the bees? star_smile.gif Or she was probably raised in a convent or by her grandmother? These are all speculations on my part.

The OP should have not used this forum to air his dirty laundry. I imagine this matter to be subject for discussion with Dr. Phil or maybe even with Dr. Ruth!

Anyway, Brian, I believe your wife might not care much for you, unless some traumatic experience befell her in the past. For instance, as you have posted in a previous thread, your wife's parents died in a ferry boat accident when she was very young and this event could have given her a devastating blow in the noggin.

At any rate, you can always file for divorce on the grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment and indignities that make your life intolerable. whistling.gif

Or irreconcilable differences or the wife not being able to comply with her marital obligations.

Let me make this thread a bit more interesting......forget privacy...for a moment

Do you also share fantasies between husband and wife......too? devil.gif

I just wonder what kind of fantasies people have innocent.gif

Yes, some, and not on your life. blush.gif

P.S. Read Penthouse Forum, and if your are more daring, Variations.

Care to share the website? just curious what's in there. innocent.gif

Most liquor stores sell the magazines, or used to years ago. Just do a Google search. You will find the online versions (paysites).

I'm beginning to love this thread........I'm not favoring anyone...

I DON'T WANT STRESS...i hate stress! So, I really don't care if my husband wont give me his password, I respect that. CASE CLOSED!

As long, as he gives me his paycheck, as long as I have to live at our house, as long as he's being the responsible husband and father...im good with!

We dont live in fairytales.....We always start at "Once upon a time" but never ended in "Happy Ever After"

He hates the smell of daing and tuyo. It drove him nuts one time and I was frying some tuyo. Poor guy. Tambien, Mariel. I don't care if I don't know his email password. I respect his privacy too. As long as he is the responsible husband, I'm happy a girl.

Probably! She's cooking something now I don't recognize. unsure.gif

Perhaps she's frying some kind of Smoked boneless milkfish, Sarangani brand from Mindanao, close to my wife's hometown of Davao.

My wife does not like to eat this #######; she eats the Crappies that I have caught myself and filleted.

She does not care for Filipino junk foods, she is a RN, you know, and she knows about Healthy things to put in her mouth.

I catch a lot of Bass but these are in tournaments and everything is released after they were weighed.

You know, we Texans are good in working our Worms to get the bites.

Manny Pacquiao v Miguel Cotto? I'll take Cotto anytime. If Pacquiao wins I owe you a dinner at the Pekpek Carenderia.

The 2 girls that are engaged in a heated Tussle here are both nuts.

Why do I think that I sound like my good old friend from North Texas?
