I am not really bothered by my credit score as i never had any credit cards. So i don't have a credit score? and if its gonna be affected then i'd be in a shithole... coz no credit score plus bad credit history caused by my husband.

I dont really know how it works.

How many times did your husband visit you in the Philippines? Round trip air fair costs around like a thousand bucks. Hotels are cheap anyways if you look for a good price. And dental care is cheap in the Philippines compared to the US. One dentist offered to fix all my teeth for $200.

My fellow immigrants,

I just arrived here in America and everything is going well for me so far. I am bored right now, though, for I’m alone in the house as my man won’t be home from work till around 6:30 PM (Pacific). Our life together is on the right track, sweet and happy, and I presume that your relationships are too.

So, I won’t ask you how everything goes but I’d like to ask you how do you like the community or town that you have settled in. In my case, Cave Creek, Arizona fits my lifestyle. Cave Creek is a small bedroom community in the Desert Southwest, just outside Phoenix, with a wide open sky and a landscape replete with saguaros and other cacti. And on a tranquil night, you may hear a coyote disturbing the silence as it serenades the moon and the stars. It’s dry and hot here, much warmer than my native Baguio City, but I can manage the heat. I love it here.

How about you? How do you like your new American hometown? star_smile.gif

Nice post Mariquita. I would love to hear coyote making noises in the middle of the night. I wonder what do they sound like? Are they really ugly like the Coyote ugly word? LOL We only got opossums here who make weird noises behind our property sometimes. But the sounds of the blue jays and squirrels make are music to my ears.

I fell in love with Sonoma County the first time I saw it because of the wide and open space here. In our neck of the woods, vineyards are everywhere as far as your eyes can see and the free wine tasting is an added bonus if you are playing tourist, dotted Redwood trees, Douglas fir trees and Oak trees along the hills. It's breathtaking. My husband doesn't seem to appreciate the beauty of the place where we live. But I do. Like you, I like the temperature in the Spring and Summer here in Northern California. I think I finally come home to Mr. Bill. star_smile.gif

Marie, with all the redwoods and vineyards, your neck of the woods is a pretty locale. My favorite champagne, Korbel, comes from your backyard. We used to live there in the Bay Area, in Union City, Calif., and I loved that region of the Golden State.

I am glad you like Korbel. It's only a few miles from Forestville. Rumor has it that Guerneville is where all the gay people hang out and party, but it is where you can find one of the best champagnes in the world -- Korbel star_smile.gif

Got you, Marie. So, are you saying that Guerneville is the place where the queers, specially those from San Francisco's Castro District, drink and drown their sorrows because Prop 8 passed last year and was just upheld by the California Supreme Court?

PhilippinesWhat did you get your sweetheart for Valentines ?

We cant afford much right now since I lost my job (but start a new job February 22, thanks to God). I dont think she got me anything, which is fine, especially with the baby coming. I have the daily Valentine of her just being here with me to share each day with now. I got her a card though that says exactly everything about her that i feel, what she does for me, how I love her. And... her favorite flowers are tulips, and favorite color is pink, so I got her some potted pink tulips, 6 in all, with 4 blooming and 2 coming along.

When we went to bed tonight she asked me if there was anything I had to do that I would have to get up for (since I usually let her fall asleep and then take care of business here, since she sleeps too early for me). And I said no... But then was real quiet to get her to go to sleep so that I could sneak out to get the flowers. I wrote in the card when I got home and have the flowers and card on the bookcase, with a small light on beside them, so when she gets up in the morning she will see them.

Please help, I have a few problems.
I filed way later then planned. I bought my fiance's airline tickets for may 15 (they are non refundable), is that enough time to get the K1 visa? Oh, I should be good sent packet in last week already!

A question about the G325A, should her extented time in prison have been listed here? I am affraid this may hold things up.
Well, I am sure that the I -130 was filled out correctly!
After all we did get our NOA 1 and check was cashed really fast !
Our evidence of relationship, that's solid. We first met during a drug bust in Manila, this is well documented including goverment pictures of us.
We are both still married to others, that shouldn't be a problem. Once we get our interview, Manila will be able to see it's true Love!
My main concern is that I signed my full name on all documents like my passport.
Got you ! this is an old post I did in 2008.

P.S. Zen is yelling at me not to re-post this

Very funny indeed. I like you.

Rocky - what interesting 'non-meat pizza' recipes are you using this week?

I made a plain quiche, or I think it was. Just eggs and la lechera (sweet milk). Whip them up, put them in a pie tin and then bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

And then my all time-favorite -- tuyo, if Mr. Bill will approve. I'll fry them if he's not home tomorrow or on Saturday.

They didn't want to accept the Philippine way so heck, I just followed the US way and made sure that all my IDs even GC bear the same name. My only problem now is when I renew my passport. I heard that I can correct this problem when I fill out "one and the same" form when I go to Chicago to renew my passport. good.gif

good.gif Flying back and forth from the Philippines may be the only time that will cause you problems. We got a "one and the same person" affidavit made at the SF embassy. Hopefully, if we run into a problem, that will make the various kurakot happy.

So is Marie's passport under her new name or the same from the old passport?

We did it the Filipino way, her Father's name becomes her middle name. But, she did not like the abreviation, for Maria, to be her first name, so we changed it to Marie on her greencard. So, the greencard and the passport don't match, in the first names only.

I see...

So her name is like Ma. Cristina and turned it to Marie Cristina on her GC?

You got it right Mae. I got a "One and the same person" Affidavit from the Philippine Embassy in San Francisco in case I encounter some problems at the airport when I go back to Pinas January next year because my first names don't match in the passport and green card.

PhilippinesName in Permanent Residency Card
QUOTE (giL & joy @ Oct 24 2009, 11:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Instead of using my maiden name as my new middle name, the USCIS interviewer said I should retain the old middle name I used (which was my mother's last name).. Is this true for everybody who got their AOS/permanent residency approved? It's custom in the Philippines to drop your mother's name and replace ur middle name with ur father's last name then adopt ur hubby's.. But she said, in US it's not.. I really had no choice coz the USCIS interviewer is the official right? ANyway, I can change all my name to whatever I want when I get citizenship.. But that's not til 5 years! wacko.gif so weird!

The thing is the previous names I used for other documents before I got approved (like bank, WIC, insurance, etc.) was the middle name using my father's last name.. Should I change them all again? How about my signature?? Now I will have 3 signatures --- my old maiden name signature (mom & dad's last name used), the one where I use as mddle name my father's last name, and now the one using as middle name my mom's last name! so confusing! headbonk.gif I hesitate everytime I am asked of my name now trying to recall which one I gave them the last time! blink.gif

I changed my first for some reasons. I remember in the AOS forms we filled out something like "The name you want to appear in your green card".

If our President gives citizenship to the illegals, should we have a class action suit to get our money back since we did things the right way? What is my VJ's family views?

Okay, Chuck and Spam. What do you care? Why does it matter to you so much? You like lawyers, or something, cuz they are the only ones that will profit from crying over spilled milk.

PhilippinesHow did your fiance propose to you in the Philippines?
Mr. Bill popped the question by asking me so much questions in Tagalog. I was really impressed not knowing that he has a cheat sheet. lol. These are the questions he asked me:

"May gusto ka ba sa akin?"
"Gusto kita makasama habangbuhay"
"Ikaw lamang ang aking iibigin magpakailanman"
"Puwede ba kita maging kasintahan?"

Later on after more emails, he asked me this one. "Kailan tayo magpapakasal?"

Can someone explain to me the expectations and/or pressures placed upon a Filipina who has married and American and now lives in the U.S.A.?

TexPamp

As soon as I get to the USA, I expect my husband to expect that I know how to set the dining table with his favorite Ilocano goodies - pinapaitan and pinakbet. I also expect him to expect that I join him in his love for the outdoors, especially golf and fishing. But the most important is that I expect him to expect that I will never say “Not tonight, honey, because I got a terrible headache”! whistling.gif

I expect not to fail his expectations. star_smile.gif

Kanamit gid sang dinengdeng !!! (It is very tasty...)

I tasted it when I was in Manila. I wish I knew how to cook it. I think you use the Ilocano bago-ong here, not the Visayan bago-ong.

Yes Pepe, I didn't know you speak Ilocano.

Hi Marie,

Maybe they sell chili leaves at Asian store there? Dito kasi sa WA, halos lahat nang Filipino ingredients mabibili mo dito.
Do you live near the SeaFood City? Baka meron sila doon.

But you can also use malunggay or spinach leaves. Yummy...

~ Chinook

Hi Chinook! Yeah they do sell dahon ng sili in Seafood City, but it's 50 miles away. Don't know when husband and I will go to Vallejo, but the chili leaves are on the top of my shopping list now. There's an Asian store in Santa Rosa, but I don't see any dahol ng sili. Just the papaya which cost too much. I guess I'm gonna use spinach. Thanks.

Nasa frozen section ang dajon ng sili.
