Philippinesmedical for first time immigrant? help
QUOTE (iloveyou16 @ Nov 20 2008, 03:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
hi. im wondering since my husband is a first time immigrant for less than 1 month. can he apply for any health insurance? just in case of emergency since he is still waiting for his social security.??? please advice

i believe he cant apply fro medical or medicare? since he doesnt have a work at the moment? what is the best way to do to get him a health insurance?

Thank you

I can't tell what your husband's status is by your post, but you can probably go to the local Social Security office, and apply for a SSN. The medical carrier will need an identifying number. The person (you?) who sponsored your husband is responsible for his medical care for the next ten years, not the US Government, or the tax payers. You (or his sponsor) could be billed for his medical care.

Things are tough now, and it does look not like things will get any better for the near future. Any coverage you can find will be better than nothing, especially if you already have concerns about your husband's health. Many county and city governments have low or no cost health clinics available, so check into that, for yourself, and your husband.

HI to Everyone, I need your Opinion/Advice guys Is there anyone of you had use Co-sponsor and have problem and Ask the help of Congressman or Senator, My fiance cant provide a required documents for now because he is sick and under medication and have schedule for an Operation at the end of the month, That is why He can't find a new job, Can my fiance write a Congressman or Senator about his situation and maybe the Government contact Embassy to allowed us to use Co-sponsor since he is sick, I heard that someone have the same problem and ask Congressman help and they got appoved,. Any help and Information would be so much Appreciated .......Thank you

I can't tell what your status currently is, and how "urgent" the need is for your fiance to provide an affidavit of support in time for your interview at USEM. Your fiance can contact your congress person's office, if he has trouble getting information from the USCIS or the USEM. The folks at the USCIS are very helpful on the phone. I don't know about the State Department.

Having a co-sponsor, or securing your stay with a bond, are the best bets.

Yeah give them 1 to 2 weeks and try calling again, if your MNL case number ready for interview schedule and you could choose your desired date. In the meantime you can now work on the Document Verification which can be downloaded in the USEM website and get instruction there how to pay DV. In most cases this is the cause of delay of VISA issuance because this would take 3 to 4weeks to process... Here's the USEM website in the Phils. http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3024.html you could download here the packet 3.

Goodluck!

mmm.. I think d.v. has been suspended, there are new proceedures that need to be followed....

Any one have a URL to support this change?
I would really like to see some official statement on this....

How long does it typically take for the packet to get to the Manila Embassy after NVC has approved it? I called the NVC and I was told it was sent 19NOV08. I have called the Embassy twice smile.gif and they have said no record on file yet. I know, I'm impatient!!! hahahaahaha

Thanks for any input!

In our case, it took about 8 weeks from when we got NOA#2 until the Visa Packet was delivered by courier. My husband was able to track it before that using the MNL number from the USEM website. But that was before they made you call to make your own appointments.

PhilippinesIncompetent people at CFO seminar
QUOTE (melissa/martin @ Nov 3 2008, 10:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just wanna share my experience about my CFO seminar today 11/03/08.

My visa packet arrived today at noon delivered by delbros. As soon as I got it, I hurried my ### to go to Taft Avenue to do the CFO seminar. I got there between 3:30-4:00PM. (in front of DLSU BDO bldg.)

1. I paid P250 for registration and gave me papers
2. lady at the registration told me to go to room S3 to watch the documentary about Filipina girls being abused by their foreign husband. I sat there for like 10mins and It's all done! (i guess didn't see the entire video). So I asked the nice lady there... what to do after this? she said "ohh are you goin to USA?" i said.. "yes mam" she said.. "ok go to ____ " I forgot the room number. There, she told us where to go if being abused, what numbers to call, what to do after your marriage and what papers we need to apply for the green card.... just basic info.

Then, she told us...."we can't release your certificate today because our computer crashed coz of the virus. It crashed last friday so they are just working on it now and it will done on THURSDAY!" (mind you THURSDAY! just for a single certificate which doesn't even have a code!) "and if you are thinking to go to other counseling site, it wont work coz they'll see that you are registed here" (what a dictatorship!)

3. One-on-one interview... ask me how we met, how long we been together, how often hes been here.. etc etc... just all about my fiance. She took my divorce paper copy and told me to photocopy one picture. Then she asked me a very weird question.... "What is your fiance's middle name?" so i said... "Rowling, thats his middle name" then she said.. "no what is your fiance's moms maiden name?" I was like "huh? they dont carry it, the name that i gave you is just a name not a last name of her mom" Well its a good thing I know his moms maiden name coz we do genealogy... I didn't argue with her.. so i told her.

4. Then after the interview, she signed the receipt for the release of my certificate on thursday 1:30PM. (I really should hope this time they have it all ready coz I just paid $150 for rebooking and cancellation fee!)

I know I'm not supposed to book yet.. but my fiance didn't know that this seminar is MANDATORY. He said its a complete DICTATORSHIP, what kind of country wont allow their citizen WITH VISA to not live WITHOUT this seminar?

Tell me what you think about the CFO seminar. Thank you. Good luck to all of us! smile.gif

Hi Melissa/Martin! What a dictator indeed that lady at the CFO seminar where you went to. I also went to that place in front of the De La Salle University in 2007. And that woman whom I had one on one interview also asked about my mother in-law's maiden name. I gave her my husband's middle name. But she said it was his first name. So I had to call my husband in the middle of the night just to ask him what is his mom's maiden name. Crazy huh! But it's either that or I don't get a CFO certificate.

CFO is a waste of money and a waste of time. They give loads of misinformation. I guess you just do what you have to do and let what they say go in one ear and out the other.

PhilippinesJob related visas
QUOTE (nbfsb @ Nov 25 2008, 04:35 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
as i was reading threads from that forum, there's no way that a foreign worker, especially nurses, can work in the US if she/he has no closed relative to petition her/him. there is retrogression and and according to the moderators, there is about 5-7 years wait for a visa if you just started filing for a petition. there are different types of visa for health workers, it can Eb3, H1b, H1C. eb3 is an immigrant visa. im not very familiar with its conditions but just take a good browse at uscis. and as far as i know studying caregiving/NA here in the phils wont give you a visa to work in the US, you have to have a bachelor degree, passed the state exam, several english tests and a visa screen to be petitioned by the employer.

That may be true for nurses, because many doctors from the Philippines came to work in the United States as nurses, and violated their contracts by seeking employment either as a doctor or performing medical services on the side without medical license.

For other workers, the story is different. I have one brother who is working in the United States as a physical therapist and the other brother working for a hotel chain as a inventory specialist. Both are working on temporary working visas.

The fact that I am currently married to a US citizen has no relevance to either brother's prescence in the U.S.: One was here before I got my K-1 Visa, and the other came later. I filed no petition for either.

I sent my Balikbayan box three days ago (Wednesday) through LBC. They give door to door delivery for only $65 from here (San Francisco Bay Area) to Manila. They come, they strap the box for you, they haul it and take it away. They told me that the ship leaves today and will probably get there just before or just after Christmas. This is my second time sending the box to Manila. My husband packed the first one and everything got there okay. I packed the second one. I hope everything gets there okay.

I went to a Fil-Am gathering for thanksgiving. The host has been through the process as a petitioner more than once {I didn't ask}. He said that as of Feb '07 there was a NEW form of some sort for the Petitioner. He said we must get our OWN background check {FBI}, and have our fiance' sign-off acknowledging that she's read the form, and seen our criminal background{if any}.

Now, I am familar enough with IMBRA to know that our meeting on a website{e.g. Cherry Blossoms, Filipina Heart} does NOT fall under the IMBRA requirements. SO, is he confusing this with the procedure required of a Petitioner who HAS used an actual 'marriage broker' ?

Thanks for the input!

NOTE: If your petition is approved, a copy of your petition, including the information you submit regarding your criminal convictions, will be provided to the Department of State for dissemination to the beneficiary of your petition pursuant to section 833(a)(5)(A)(ii) of IMBRA. In addition, pursuant to section 833(a)(5)(A)(iii) of IMBRA, any criminal background information pertaining to you that USCIS may discover independently in adjudicating this petition will also be provided to the Department of State for disclosure to the beneficiary of your petition. You should also note that under section 833© of IMBRA, the name and contact information of any person who was granted a protection or restraining order against you, or of any victim of a crime of violence perpetrated by the petitioner, will remain confidential but that the relationship of the petitioner of such person or victim (i.e., spouse, child, etc.) will be disclosed.

Cherry Blossoms, Filipina Heart, etc., are not completely except from IMBRA. You should disclose that information when asked,"How did you meet?". Also, if you avail yourself of any of their "premium services", the line may become less clear. As long as you can show it was a "chance meeting", that the service was not involved in any way, other that providing a forum, where such meeting could occur, there should be no problem.

As far as the petitioner, there is a background check conducted within the process of approving the petition. The depth of that background check does depend upon the information provided with the petition. Our friend just received his NOA#2, and there is no such requirement we are aware of. You are not confusing that with the I-134 Affidavit of Support, are you?

Hello,
I am trying to help someone out. She married an American in the Philippines four years ago but he seems to have lost interest as she is still waiting for her visa. She is not even sure if he ever filed any petition for her. He claims to be unemployed and uses that as an excuse . He has not visited her in a long time, probably 2-3 years. What I want to know is does she have any legal options here in the USA? Can she appoint anyone here to act for her? Is there any kind of petition she can file? I'm sure this has come up before but I can't find any information on it. Thanks for any replies.

Q.

Here are her options:

1. Seek an annulment of marriage on the grounds of fraud or psychological incapacity.

2. Contact the US embassy/consulate and petition for spousal support.

Unless your co-sponsor has propertyy or other sources of income, there's a good chance that the SSI may not be sufficient to show support, you know, later when you adjust your status. It might be enough to get her here on a K-1 visa. Once she starts working, you can add her income to the mix.

Securing a marriage license in a place where neither of the parties is a resident is a mere techinicality in your marriage application. It's a matter of jurisdiction I guess. I would advise you to get a lawyer who can help you with this problem.

I was wrong about delbros...i was wrong when i qouted that they are using bicycle for their delivery... well they are not.... in fact they used a pair of walking shoes to speed it up. hahaha (just kidding) I was surprised when i heard somebody's calling outside our house... at first i had no idea that it was delbros because their is no delivery van. The mail man in his late 40's standing outside looking for me so i suspected maybe it's my visa.. So i asked him...is that my visa? DELBROS??? he said YES!!!!! it was raining and he has no umbrella so i let him in our balcony . oh my goshhhhhhhh unbeleivable i'm in heaven... after 48 years of waiting and whining ..where is my visa??? what taking them so long??? FINALLY it's in my hand. I went to my room and i was screaming .... Robert and I were voice chatting i was complaining to him ( honey it's so tagal ..super tagal..i'm going crazy where is my visa) ... he was actaully playing video games when I screamed honeyyyyyyyyyy honeyyy where are you?? it's DELBROS..its my visa....the post man is outside..he is sitting in our balcony...yeheyyyyyy I was looking for my ID then I went back to the postman and received my visa I thanked him and I was grateful to see him i was smiling talga i swear all the worries and disappointments are gone. I told him to wait for few minutes i will just call my father so that he can make tawag a tricycle ride for you :-) ... I went back to my room and gave my Honey a happy dance kicking.gif kicking.gif we were both screaming and super doper happy hahahhaa thank you GOD!!

I am actually kinda mad and dissapointed with delbros at the beggining reagarding the speed of their delivery . I asked the delivery man why they are not using a delivery van?? he told me to minimize travel expenses ...well i perfectly understand becoz I'm living an hour away from bacolod so if I am the only client for the day it's better for them to use a public transfortation nalang it will save them gas and money pa, these answers all my questions. Oh well..Thank god my sleepless nights and anticipations will be all gone now.

For all of you who are still waiting for your visa to come, please be patient and it will surely come your way. Keep your faith strong and you will receive what you ever wanted to have soon. Never lose hope and keep your cool all the time and it will be yours. GOD BLESS us all!!!

Help for a friend ! To meet the poverty guidlines 125% for I-134 support, do they require net income or gross income per month ?

It is based on your adjusted gross income.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionSo confused!
It's so easy. We did ours today. You have to fill out the forms, gather all the evidences and pay $545. Next is you wait, wait and wait. That's what we're gonna do. :star:

Scratch that. Hubby and I are gonna have wild sex for the next 3 months and then we won't have to wait. :P

Sounds like yer on the right track.

At some point, you'll want to create a cover sheet for yer evidence.

I was teasing about the corporation papers on 'Pinay for Pizza'. Please understand, I was TEASING.
But - I think yer avatar is great for promoting the line o Pizza that 'Pinay for Pizza' had created. Each time I see it, I want to eat some pizza (or something) .

But - even with that said - if the corporation paperwork on 'Pinay for Pizza' has yer name and yer husband's name listed in the corporation paperwork - go ahead and submit it.

With the 'other' evidence that you have, I'd not worry about any affadavits, at least not for initial submittal.

was there any 'newspaper announcement' about the wedding / marriage ?

A cover letter would be nice. Like a table of contents my husband says. We didn't have any notice of our wedding in the newspaper. We didn't even look at it. My affidavits are not notarized.

The Pinay for Pizza was a crazy idea of my husband. Because we love to eat pizza. That was where the Pinay for Pizza came from. It is only visible in my avatar.

wow.

dig out your evidence of co-mingling finances - let us know what you got so far.

Also - a corporation document on 'Pinay For Pizza' should be useful..

I got one of my two affidavits done. I am still working on the other. Had a hard time getting the info from my friend. She won't tell me her birthdate. I guess she didn't want me to know that she was born in the 60's. She says she's too old to be my mom.

Hubby gave me a big stack of photocopies. In the stack were copies of our state and federal 2009 and 2008 joint income tax returns, statements from our three joint bank accounts including one business account, copies of our utility bills, copies of the titles to both our vehicles, and the auto insurance policy covering our vehicles, all showing both our names at the same address.

I also saved a bunch of letters and cards from our family and friends. And of course I saved the envelopes. I still need to go to our pictures together and with our family and friends, stuff like that.

I don't know what to do about the Pinay for Pizza. The USCIS doesn't need that one, do they?
