PhilippinesPhilippine debt

My wife ran a loan business in the Philippines. Those that did not pay their loans and refused to make arrangements to pay did get cases filed on them. Once they found the person who owed the debt, they could have the police arrest them. I would assume any case the police could make an arrest on would show up on the NBI report. There were costs involved to the loan firm for all this, as the courts don't work for free and neither do the police, so it was only used when no other option was available. Mostly they just continued to try to get the debt paid or some form of collateral they could sell if the customer could never make good on the debt. Digital cameras, TV's, scooters, high end cell phones, were constantly be held when people didn't pay.

Any person owing money is protected by the constitution of the Philippines. No person shall be imprisoned for non-payment of debt or poll tax. The creditor can always sue that person in court. But that person cannot go to jail.

Among the recommendations of the ADB was to tap remittances from
overseas Filipinos for productive investment and sustainable livelihood
opportunities for women so that migration becomes a choice rather than a
necessity.

Life in itself is a choice. Migration is also a choice.

Such recommendation is another dummy of some past programs made by the Philippine government on which the funds went to a pocket of the government official whose intention is to run another position in the next election and have more power to usurp government funds.

Give me examples of PI government projects or programs on which you can consider that it was indeed sustainable....tsk tsk..wala yata ah! NONE!!!!

Kindly show that article to those officials who run the country so that they can see how weak and stupid they are. Blame it to them and not to the Filipinas who migrate. Like the government officials, these filipinas just simply exercise their freedom of choice for their lives to have better living out of hardwork and sacrifices abroad, yet branded with negative connotation. Why not come up article for these government officials who are thieves of public funds and holding respectable positions in the society. Is it that a good suggestion? tongue_ss.gif How ironic!!!

Two thumbs up!!! I agree. But, i dont think they will make an article for these rampant corruptions for these government officials. It was only Ping Lacson who has guts to reveal big fishes anomalies. Even DOJ, we cannot trust fair judgement anymore. Seem like money can buy anything in the Phil, "Ang Bayan kong Pilipinas" .... (huhuhu)

All government plans and programs is indeed for short term remedies and solution of the problems only ... none are sustainable. How i wish the next elected president will be as brilliant and have a good heart and focus not only for their vested self interest but to serve as a public servant to all filipinos. But , the question is .... WHO? Is there any good in our politicians???

Well, i think all politicians started as good but when they are in power the temptation from bribes is very hard to resist.

Are you so sure? Then look here: Search Results

You may not want to go there, not because you wrong, but because you are most definitely correct. Reason enough to leave the Philippines, and believe me, your Kano spouses have at least some clue of the problems at home. And, don't look too closely at the same issues here in the US, the numbers are greater, and just as prevalent. When Congress passes what is on their desks now, and the President signs it, an amount greater than three times the Philippine economy will be stuffed into the pockets of state, county, and local officials all over the US.

Why are we talking about issues like this here? It's a matter of choice. They chose to do it that way, they will grow up with the consequences if they didn't foresee that right away.

It is called making love with eyes wide open! Some of us have been around the block a few times, and know what we were getting ourselves into. Some pups don't have a clue, but push on through anyways, and most will deal with it, one way, or another. It don't mean we don't love our wives, but it don't mean we are naive either.

You have to think it is not a bad strategy for a young girl. She can marry someone in his sixties, or older. She can be a good wife, devoted to him, take care of him in his last years, and when he passes, she still is young enough to have a life of her own. In the meantime, she can help her family back in the Philippines, with monetary support, and eventually bring her close family members to the live in the US. She can be faithful to her husband, to her family, and to herself, without compromising her morals. Why not?

this is in reference to east asian men, primarily to japanese.

incidentally, phils girls who go to japan as "entertainers" usually wind up as prostitutes, no matter how well they sing and what they are promised.

From what i know the "entertainer" is nothing more than a bargirl. Japan has enough musical talent in that country to supply the world. You think they need to go to the Philippines to get musical entertainers....that is joke! laughing.gif laughing.gif

I need to correct the number, it was more like 1800, the more I think about it, but that still puts it at about 1:30 for much older men vs. much younger women. Of course all the older men are not looking for teenagers, and vice versa. In my case, I was curious as to the numbers, having already been "hooked, line and sinker", for one only 14 years my younger.

I don't think many American men realize the numbers. And the numbers are getting more desperate. Not for the Kanos, but for the young Pinay. I was curious, after my bride "found me" on PenPalNet.com, how many Filipino women were looking to contact American men. So, I just checked for 18 year old girls from the Philippines, and there was 18,000 profiles, compared to a few hundred for men in my age group, 41-50 at the time. That was over two years ago. Numbers don't lie and there is desperation there. That all of us on VJ found true love is either a miracle, or a testament to the determination of the ladies of the Philippines.

So, let's not kid ourselves!

Q: What is the definition of dwarfism?

A: Little People of America (LPA) defines dwarfism as a medical or genetic condition that usually results in an adult height of 4'10" or shorter, among both men and women, although in some cases a person with a dwarfing condition may be slightly taller than that. The average height of an adult with dwarfism is 4’0, but typical heights range from 2’8 to 4’8.

You definitely are stretching this beyond its intended definition...being a race that has a tendency to be smaller has nothing to do with dwarfism. What exactly would be your example of a filipino who was actually a little person...comparing a definition of an american group of smaller people to a race of people that are smaller is just shortsighted.

My question is, for short ladies like me, how short is short? I am 4 ft, 11 in tall. I know I am short. But we're not midgets, right?

After 4 years my wife finally changed to a more healthy brown rice. Just has to soak it longer.
Comes in 25lb bags naman.

We buy the 25 lbs Japanese brown rice at the Oriental store. It's good for your health.

Philippineslearn to continue to be humble...
QUOTE (ronalyn @ Nov 22 2009, 05:40 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well, I dont want to offend anyone but I really felt bad to those whom I was able to be-friend through this website because while at their journey with their paperwork, they have time to send you email through PM, or chat with you through yahoo messenger. But now that they are already in the US; its as if they already turned their backs from the people who in one or the other has been of great help to them. Well, of course they are now reunited with their loved ones, that's given, but I think you will not sign in on yahoo messenger if you are too busy to chat. I hate to think that just because they are already finished with their journey and now in US, they dont know you anymore. I am just disappointed with this kind of attitude... I just hope that these people will learn to continue to humble themselves and learn to know where they came from. Being in the US is just the start of your journey and there might be instances that someday you will need or look for a Filipino friend to talk too. God bless

They are probably busy hanging out in Facebook. Everybody's hanging out in Facebook.

Why are questioning the capacity of Jack a.k.a TCO a.k.a "The King" that he cannot buy such an awesome castle like that? biggrin.gif

FYI....he told us that his wife comes from a freaking rich family here in the Philippines..

and one thing more.....a Certified RN...which means..lots a lots a lots a dollars!!!!! woohoo.....

But yeah, we still need proof.....we still need pictures of you and Anais inside the castle...

That will be all "MY MAJESTY"!!!!

I am an RN and i dont make lots and lots of dollars...i dont think any RN can make lots of dollars for a mansion like this

I all depends on where you work I guess my sister is one and makes more than $25 an hour!!! I know the house her and her hubby has is a very nice house on the beach in New England

i earn more than 25$ per hour and i work in the New England area...no house yet but thanks for giving me a headsup on the beach house! kicking.gif

she lives and works in Gloucester

If you earn more than $25 dollar an hour and want a beach house in gloucester... You need more than that! I personally know someone who has a beach house in gloucester.. and the tax is awfully high.

Though i love the lobster in gloucester, its a lot cheaper compare to boston.

Tallcoolone es muy rico. If you have mucho dinero, you can buy the most expensive house you want.

PhilippinesFoods from Philippines?
QUOTE (mybaby @ Nov 25 2009, 09:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am two months and one day pregnant now and I am really craving the "danguet fish" in the Philippines. Lots and lots of food cravings like turon, budbod (in visaya) I don't know the tagalog of it,orange na buko, palamig yong maraming kulay,halo-halo nang Ice castle, gulaman, piritong isda talagang danguet. wacko.gif ,I got a lot of foods going on inside my head and very frustrating it's because most of them are not here. crying.gif

Any suggestions if they can send it to me?I looked at the asian stores already here in Indianapolis, but really nothing sad.gif Anyone here tried receiving foods from the Philippines? Is it possible for them to send it to me? Just wondering if maybe someone had experienced the same thing. How did they send it,what do they used to do it?

Thanks a lot..

Howdy! Howdy! I bought a bag of dried herring or Tunsoy in the Asian store here. It's tuyo. Don't know about the danggit. You can always try pickled herring in most markets.

I was looking at the members timelines here. I noticed that fiancee visa applicants have short/shorter timelines. Some even got their visas within 5 months tops from the day they sent I-129.

Keep in mind though that K1 visa holders still have to apply for work authorization and adjustment of status once they arrive in the US. Immiediate Relative immigrant visa holders get their green cards right away once they enter the US. So, if you're going to compare the lineline of a K1 applicant with that of someone who went the I-130 route, look at the timeline from the date the petition was filed to the date permanent residency was approved by USCIS or the consulate.

Some petitioners prefer their partners to be with them the fastest possible time though, so that their long and desolate wait for sexual gratification be over soon! whistling.gif

I have been keeping an eye on peoples timelines here...how is it possible apply in August, NOA1 , then NOA 2 Also August...and approval? Also How is it correct that K1 Visas are faster to approve than people filing for K3, married already? this is upside down...
Our case has not been touched since the first time back in June 6th, for the I130, and June 26 for the I129f..nothing, no status change, no updates, no info, nothing...until your past 5 months there is nothing anyone will tell you...this system is broken...over 2 million applications a year, they need HELP!...we are taking the legal route yet we must wait in LIMBO, with nobody telling us anything, as people walk across our borders...this is so frustrating,
God, how I miss my wife...
Why can nothing be done? Don't we as fee payers and tax payers pay these people salary? does congrees work for us?
Oh, how frustrating and heartbreaking is this process...grown men brought to tears...
M and M

I know how u feel.. they said its CASE TO CASE. but i don't know how they check that..
We file JULY 07 2009 we got approved September 1, 2009.. but now our papers still at NVC
waiting for Ds3032.. just pray and more patients.. some it will take more than 6 months to get approved..

i know its unfair.. yes u are right.. how come FIANCEE visa it will take short process than who are already MARRIED..

hope everything went well to our PAPERS..

god bless

Yeah. If you want to save money, don't hire a lawyer especially in the Philippines. Lawyers are going to drain you of your financial resources. They like to prey on Americans like you.
