Actually the number might not mean anything. My number was seven out of 11 that day, but I was the fourth one to be interviewed and it seemed that it was out of oder for most people. Regardless, there are not that many people interviewed at any giving day so it goes by fast.

I have to agree with slim, it is impossible to keep the spelling on the Russian and American IDs identical. I have tried and failed. I had an old Soviet passport which spelled my name evguenia, and so I had SSC and DL with that spelling, than Russian Government changed it to evgeniya and I have changed my SSC and DL to match that, which was a lot of headache, it was a long process and not cheap. I took my husbands last name, and I had to petition Immigrat Office in Moscow so that they will spell my new last name right and they did, six months later. Now I have a PR card and everything matches, but since they are changing the spelling again, when I change my Russian passport my first and last names won't match again. And I don't care anymore, bz it is impossible to straighten it out. I am not going to petition every five years. I will have two passports when I become a US citizen, and as long as they are valid I will be fine. Who cares if my fist and last name is different? It is impossible to fight buraucracy, we just have to learn how to live with it.

You would need to provide us with more details of your relationship and it's history and her work history, etc before we can weigh in on will it hurt. It should have no bearing on the approval process but it is unusual. I can't understand why weekly payment are needed versus less frequent. And again, there have been scam cases recently where the lady received monies and then never went to the interview (because then no monies would be needed to be sent). Just trying to protect you; but again, we don't know your story.


Why do you people even care if he provides for his fiancee or not? It is their business. And why are you so ready to pass judgement? You know nothing about their relationship and already make conclusions. Also a woman is not a dog, you can't practice a "treat" technique. You do what I want and you get a treat. What is it about Russian women that makes you think we can be classified as such?
In response to scams, I can assure you there are plenty of stories about Americans who get a girl to the U.S., use her (in a worst case abuse a person) and then kick her out of the country. THIS IS TWO WAY STREET MY FRIENDS.

Can you please tell me how do you know that Moscow embassy is scheduled up to Oct 19th? I followed their online schedule for a few months, and it looks like they loosely schedule first, then later they pack more interviews on same dates. So it is confusing a bit, to try guess what will be the date.


Yes, that is true, they scheduled up to 12 interviews a day max. in August and Sept. and in period from Oct. 1st to Oct. 27th they scheduled only 6 interviews a day. So there is a chance that we could still get an October date.

There's been lots of chatter about interview dates...how do you know the Russian Embassy is scheduled up to Oct. 19th?
Or better yet, how do the rest of us find out case-load of our respective embassy?

I know because US Embassy in Moscow puts the interview schedule on its website, I don't know if other Embassies do that. So I looked last Friday and now they are booked up to Oct. 27th. They update every Monday. Since they don't work this Mon they updated last Friday. So my hopes about October interview are evaporating by the minute. Lol. I still hope that we get schedules at least for the first week of Nov and not later. My husband and I had to be living in two countries for two years, though he was here for the summers and more wait is just about to kill me Lol.

Hi Evgeniya. did you speak to operator lately? Or you are relying on AVR (it's always behind) ?
May be you have appt already. I called them twice a day (morning shift and evening) tongue_ss.gif ,one day morning shift told me that not yet, but at evening they told me that they have good news for me...
I know that Russia is not that backlogged, why they keep you waiting then??

Hi, accordning to your timeline you have submitted two petitions I-130 and I-129f. So you have to have two NOA1. To get K-3 you have to have both petitions approved.

I have been in this situation myself. I had a J-1 visa with 2 year home requirement between 2003-2004 When I got accepted to the University in August 2004 I just applied for a new J-1 visa without a two year home requirement. IT IS UP TO A VISA CONCUL TO DECIDE TO GIVE AND NOT TO GIVE YOU A NEW VISA. In my case I was given one and went to the USA to get a Master's degree in 2004 and graduated in 2006 and came back to my home country to start my 2 year home requirement. When I got a new J-1 visa they put a stamp on my old one that said - "Canceled without prejudice" and put a line on my new J-1 that "2 year home requirement still remains from the previouse visa"

So YES YOU CAN APPLY FOR A NEW J-1 VISA

Ha-ha Russian Roulette! It is a good one. Again I agree with you that it is just easier to become a citizen. However, in my friends case it was a twisted issue. Bz her husband worked for the American NGO abroad they wondered for years how to come up with 3 years of residency in the US while not actually living there. There is some escape route for people who work abroad for the American Government (in the Embassies for ex) or American NGOs. So they were finally able to apply and get her naturalized for her last year even though she has never been in the US for longer than a month at a time and not three years put alltogether. Againe I don't think this will apply to Ford Motor company since it is obviously not a NGO and not a Governmental organization, or is it? After all the bail outs that Amerian auto industry recieved? LOL :rofl: Just kidding!

I do know a couple who lives in Russia, he is an American citizen and his wife had a Green Card for a while. All they had to do to maintain her status is to fly to the USA every six months to insure that she doesn't stay out of the US for longer than 6 months and not loose her green card. They did that for many many years. However, it isn't the best way since you are always on the edge of loosing your green card. I agree with others it is just easier to apply for citizenship and get it over with. Recently my friend applied and got her US citizenship.

You have participated in the discussion of one of the posts, I can't find it right away now...and actually I thought it was your opinion, that applying early is not a good idea. Regardless, I just had an impression that applying under 3 year rule almost always implies that one has to prove legitimacy of marriage all over again.

I have read a lot of posts concerning delays in citizenship process, when applicants applied under 3 year rule on a marriage bases. What I wonder is it guaranteed that you are going to have an RFE and a hard long process, or it is just depends on the officer in whose hands the case will end up at? I have applied in August under the same rule, and have not submitted any additional prove of marriage aside from standard list of documents (Tax transcripts, marriage certificate). Will it be a problem? I have been married for 6 years even though been a resident for only 3 years come October.

It has been over a month, and I still don't have interview letter. And take in mind that Casper, WY is not a busy office. A whole state has a population of 600,000 people, it is not NY. I was hoping to be done before New Year, bz moving to another state. Talked to a representative today, and he informed me that if I move I will have to wait another 90 days before I can get scheduled for interview or oath.So all this waiting is for nothing if I don't get all this done in the next two months. So frustrating...... :bonk: .

So, still waiting on interview day in line for scheduling for a month now. Today I got a yellow letter that said in big letters, that "THIS IS NOT AN INTERVIEW NOTICE" and informed me that I have to bring a state-issued driver's license to the interview, which haven't not been scheduled yet. Very, very weird... :wacko: . I brought it to my biometrics and I do remember that they made a copy of it. So has anybody got that too?

When we submitted I-130 four years ago in 2007 USCIS stopped processing CR/IR visas because they wanted to process as many citizenship applications to give opportunity to vote in 2008. The backlog was about 6 months caused by huge influx of citizenship applications that summer. A lot of people submitted also because that summer USCIS doubled the citizenship application fees and many tried to bit that. We submitted our I -130 application in November and got our NOA1 in March (aka they opened it 6 months later, our timeline was 13 months instead of 5 months). Next year is an election year, so I assume we are going to have longer timelines since there is an incentive for people to apply. But our applications at least a priority. Thank God they didn't raise the fees this time and didn't create a frenzy all over again. Good luck to us all!

I am a september filer from NYC ,I know this is an august thread but just wanted to check with some August filers from NYC.. how much time did it take to get a notification from the USCIS that you have been place in line for interview after your finger prints were taken ? I did my FP on 09/28/2011 and have not received any update , I will appreciate if someone shares his / her story.. Thanks !!

So I got a second FP letter, first one came a week ago, but I had requested a different USCIS office, since I have moved and didn't want to travel 400 miles to go to the first one. So my new FP date is September 19, 11 the first one was September 9,11. Impressed that they have changed it so fast.
