Hi Everyone,

Well, its offical, Chutima and I are married! It took long enough, but it was worth the wait, although I could have done without the cost! :P

I have also received a job offer for a new job in Florida, so it looks like we're moving to the mainland. We were just there last week for the interview and to check out the area. Chutima and I both love it there, and we will be able to buy a house no problem! It is so much cheaper in Florida than Hawaii! :D

Here are some of the wedding pics! Wedding Pics

Aloha,
Robert & Chutima

David,

I don't know which number you called, but getting tax transcripts is very simple. Just call (800)–829–1040 and follow the directions. You will need to provide them some information, and they will mail your tax transcript to you, and you should have them in about a week.

Robert

Ty,

I called the IRS but they didn't know what I was talking about. From H&R block I have my tax sheets along with notorized original and notarized copies of my W2 forms. I have the letter from the IRS about not getting my taxes done by April 15th with interest and penalyt info. I then have a copy of the check front and back of with full payment of their requested amount. If this isn't enough and I need more how do I get a tax transcript?

Thanks,

David

Chutima and I are next! We get married on the 17th! It should be a doozy!!! Beachside sunset wedding at one of the best restaurants on Kauai with 23 guests! :D

I will be so happy when this is over. Afterwards, we're flying to Florida so I can interview for a new job. We are really hoping it will work out and we can move to the Space Coast! :)

Robert & Chutima

P.S. Anya, sounds like you're going to have to "lower" your standards!!! Hyundai maybe?!! :P

Robert,

Then I guess she was right. Although she did not ask to see my I-94 I did not try to make this change to the new married name until after the I-94 had expired and we were well into the AOS process. Thisa arrived in the U.S. on 1.21.06 and we got the S.S.N. with her maiden name about 14 days after P.O.E.. I tried to change the S.S.N. to her married name sometime in June so well outside the 90 day window for the I-94. She made a note on the record and my understanding is that as soon as the Intv is complete her S.S.N. will update automatically and a new card will be sent. My friend suggested getting married first and getting the card issued in the new, married name but I did like so many on VJ and got it issued 14 days after P.O.E.. If the update doesn't happen what's a third visit to the S.S.A.......only another 2 hours.

Rich

Rich,

Yes, in your case, she was right. :D She must have been able to tell from her records how long Thisa had been in the U.S. I plan on making two more trips myself! :( Once after we get married next month, and again once Chutima gets her GC. I'm just thankful to have the number, because it is needed for so many things, even at this time.

fyi, the lady at the S.S.A. office had been there for many years and although I disagreed with her reasoning she probably was right. ;)

Rich,

Simply said, the lady was wrong. As long as you have a certified marriage certificate, passport, and I-94 that isn't within 14 days of expiring, you can get a new SSN card. There are many posts concerning this issue, and if you look for posts by MDYoung, who is the VJ expert, he explains the whole process.

Robert

What does the consulate REALLY need to schedule the interview? The form says to send only the DS-230, but later in the same document, she is told all forms must be with the consulate before the interview can be scheduled! Huh? Which is the truth? Thanks for the advice!

57 hours until I get on the plane for Bangkok!

Jim,

You need to mail in the following documents to schedule an interview:
DS-230 Part I (unsigned)
Copy of Passport
Two Passport photos
Completed Check-List

Make sure you put the BNK case number on the outside of the envelope and address it Attn IVU.

My honey arrived Friday evening at LAX. My friend whom escorted her said her visa was scrutinized at every point, from the time she left Bangkok, to the stop over in Taipei, to arrival at LAX.
I will try to post her POE experience when I have more time.
I just happy she is here now and settling in to her new life in the USA.

Mike, glad to hear Mandy made it okay. Good luck to both of you with your new life together! :D

We're going to apply for Chutima's SSN card this week. Since she's been here for a month now, hopefully she's in the system now. We also need to get our wedding license and get her immunization record transcribed. With the cost of gas these days, I try to consolidate as many tasks as possible!

Now wouldn't that be sweet! :D

Hey Anya, you might appreciate this... the day we went for our K-1 interview, Kat English was sitting in a chair right in front of us! :o

I should have known it at the time, but I didn't realize it until I played one of my favorite VCDs, "2002 Ratree" and saw her! Chutima says "oh yeah, that was the girl at the Embassy", like it was no big deal! :o It's probably good I didn't know, so I didn't try to get her autograph!!! Now if it had been Jintara... I would have DEFINITELY asked her for her autograph!!! :D
Chutima had pointed out to me once before, when watching a Bird VCD, when he performed "Fan Ja" with Jintara, Kat English, and Nat Myria in it, but I forgot about it until yesterday!

There is now a Thai Post office kiosk right inside the consulate, just outside of the building for the visas. It is new, and Red colored. The 4,000 baht can be paid there.

I would definitely send PDF files of everything as a back-up. It is better to show up and give them what you got, and have them tell you what you need, then to just try and reschedule. Don't worry, the lady at Window 5 will let your husband know EXACTLY what she needs!

Typically, its the DS-230 Part I that he will wait to sign in front of the CO, along with the DS-156K, but that form clearly tells the beneficiary to wait.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThai Marriage Certificate
From what I have read, and to my understanding, there is never a time in the entire process you need a marriage certificate, until it is the one you and your fiancee get after you are married! For previous marriages, only divorce certificates or decrees are required. I hope you sent in a Certified English Translation of her Divorce Certificate, otherwise you WILL get a RFE.

As for her Birth Certificate, if it is not the original, she will need her Thai ID card and Tabien Ban (House Registration) when she goes for her interview. Her Birth Certificate and the Police Certificates are not required until her interview at the Embassy. Why did you submit them with your I-129F? They are only valid for 6 months from the time of issue, so you better hope her interview is within 6 months, or she will have to get new Police Certificates.

If you want more information, I suggest you read the SAWASEE2 and original SAWASDEE threads. There is a lot of good information in both threads for people with Thai fiance(e)s.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about biographic info
For the purpose have having your Packet 3/4 delivered, a permanent address is all you need. For all the forms that have to be filled out, they really want to know exactly where you were living. That will also be necessary information for the police certificate.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long till you contact your REP/Senator?

All I was looking for was an actual time line to wait. As I stated:

My wait is still short compared to many,

It is you my distraught and negative friends of VJ who make someone like me ask this type of question. You see the history of your advice tells all that we are all screwed and to just bend over and take it!!!!

A simple question was looking for a simple answer.

I bet you nay sayers ward of many potential VJ's signing up or God forbid posting a question as they just might come accross the wrath of your negativity.

I still believe and I will still post to ask questions even among people like you!!!

Good luck and have a great day

I think I responded with a Short Fuse! Sorry.

I should not read too much into others post.

My answer is clear. Thank You!!!

Not nay sayers... just the truth. No one is telling you not to ask questions about the immigration process. You just have to learn to be patient with this process, or you will go insane. Why do you think there is negativity? Maybe you should go read the other forums. Not just the people applying for K-1s have a long wait. Only the very lucky can breeze throught this process without any real wait, and it still takes them over 6 months. This whole process is nothing more than "hurry up and wait". Until you get the GC in the mail, the waiting never ends, and even then, you only get a 1 year 9 month break! Hang in there!
*Robert*MaleThailand2006-08-31 20:19:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long till you contact your REP/Senator?
If you're feeling like this so soon in the process... you may want to consider just moving to your so's country, because you won't survive the wait.

You can't do anything until your case is 30 days past the processing dates published by the USCIS. You have a long time before then.

Take a deep breath, drink a cocktail, and relax.
