Ok, we'll keep that in mind. I can check with my immigration attorney.

VietnamWhat is an Immigration Registration Number?

Remember your affidavit of support? Guess why they made you fill that out, so your spouse would not be a burden on the US taxpayer. This may disqualify you from public assistance, or trigger notification to USCIS that you are seeking public assistance in violation of immigration statutes that you agreed to in your affidavit. I wish you best of luck, but be carefull, there is a reason they are asking for immigration information.

Good point.

VietnamWhat is an Immigration Registration Number?

The A number USED to have a 0 at the front and then no other digits, then it switched to 9 at the front, and now I believe many have a C as the first digit. If i were you I would put A00000000. I assume you would be asked about it at which stage you can give the ACTUAL number.

Yes, that is what I did. I'm sure we will get to review with a real person later on. Yes, she has been here since July 5th. We were married and all of the fun stuff. We are now pregnant. So, excited. However, my company offers no insurance and I make too much to qualify for Medicaid.

VietnamWhat is an Immigration Registration Number?

For "Is **** a refugee or legally admitted immigrant' yes/no to NO.

However, I still have the same error with the Immigration registration number. It is perfectly 9 characters. I don't know why it's erroring out!

Update:

I hovered over the box and a pop-up stated: Be sure to enter correctly. Ex. (AXXXXXXXX)

So, I removed the last number and placed the 'A' at the beginning. Now it accepts the number.

What troubles me about this is the missing number on the end (the number I took away).

I would put not and see what happens.

VietnamWhat is an Immigration Registration Number?

Well she's NOT a legally admitted "immigrant". The K1 is a NON-immigrant visa. Does her A number have a 0 at the start?

Her A number does NOT begin with '0'. Then it must be wrong for me to put yes, since the K1 is NON-immigrant. So, I should put NO there. Am I following you correctly?

Thank you so much.

VietnamWhat is an Immigration Registration Number?

It's the A number. What do you mean you tried the A number and it gives an error message... Error message on what? Online? How exactly are they checking it? I'm relatively sure they are NOT linked directly with USCIS..

https://yourtexasbenefits.com is the website. It require both of us to enter all of our information to see if we qualify for medical assistance.

On the page where it collects info on her there is a section that says...

Is **** a U.S. Citizen? Yes/No - Answer is NO

Then a section opens up and asks...

Is **** a refugee or legally admitted immigrant? Yes/No - Answer is YES
Is **** an unaccompanied refugee minor? Yes/No - Answer is NO
Date **** entered the U.S. - Answer is 07/05/2011
If **** has a sponsor, give the sponsor's name:
Sponsor first Name: My first Name
Sponsor last name: My last name
Is **** registered with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services? Yes/No - Answer is (YES - I assume)
Immigration registration number: Allows 9 characters only ( left off the A and entered the 9 numbers that follow in her Alien Registration Number)

Click 'Save and go to next page'. When I click that, the page refreshes with the message at the top of the page stating "Error! Fix the error below."

And the field for entering the Immigration Registration Number is highlighted with a red border indicating something is incorrect.

I have no idea.

I went to the USCIS page to see if there is even a place to register and I can not find one. You can see by my signature that we have filed all paperwork previously with USCIS, but I don't know if that deems her 'REGISTERED'.

VietnamWhat is an Immigration Registration Number?
My wife and I are trying to fill out a form for medical benefits and it is asking...

"Registered with USCIS?" (Yes or No)
"If yes, please provide Immigration Registration Number"

The empty field will allow a total of 9 characters with the first character being alpha-numeric and the next 8 numeric only.

Does anyone have any idea what this means? We tried the A# (Alien number) but it gives us an error message.

We filed all of our paperwork through USCIS, but does that not mean we are actually registered with USCIS?

Either way, when I google 'Immigration Registration Number' I can find no information to what that is or means.

VietnamIRS E-filing PIN first time for Beneficiary

I had the exact same issue. I had to file a paper return the first year for this reason. The IRS told me I couldn't get a PIN for someone who had never filed before.

Ok. I was beginning to think that might be the case since the information has eluded me.

Thank you very much. Hope you are doing well. We are doing fab and have a little boy due July 3rd. Exciting. What a year 2011 was and 2012 is turning out to be.

VietnamIRS E-filing PIN first time for Beneficiary
Hi,

My wife and I are e-filing together for the first time.

Summary:
She moved here July 2011 and only worked 1 week here.

We are filing jointly for the benefit of it.

I have entered all of our W2s etc and in the end (using TurboTax) it asks when filing electronically for our electronic signatures using the 4 digit PIN.

I have mine from prior years.

It asks for hers but she doesn't have one. It states that if she doesn't have a PIN, to enter the AGI (adjusted gross income) for her U.S. filing year 2010.

The gotcha is, she didn't live here the previous year, therefore she has nothing to enter there.

I've tried contacting the IRS but there is no live person I can consult with and I can't seem to find any information regarding this scenario.

I thought the next best place would be to see if any of you have been through this and do you know how someone new to the U.S. would go about getting a new PIN to file electronically.

All the best,
Jerry and Fiona.

USCIS Service CentersAny NOA2 from VSC lately???
Just my luck. USCIS emailed me today (5 months exactly) to notify me that they are mailing me an RFE notice that will need my timely response with their requested information. But I'm flying out in about 8 hours. I contacted my attorney, gave him my contact details and contact details of my neighbor who will be checking my physical mail for me while I'm gone. Go figure the coincidence of the timing.

I wonder what else it is that they need? The attorney handled everything. Hope he can take care of it until I return. At least there is movement.

USCIS Service CentersAny NOA2 from VSC lately???

Joyjoy, I'd love to agree with you. Every fiber of my body wants to agree with you.
But alas, my experience (perhaps a better word is expsoure) to any organization, governmental or otherwise, that is not directly accountable to its clients and customers (Hmmm... that sounds a lot like USCIS!!), has no vested interest in "making a lot of progress", in being "better than the competition"... oh! that's right. They have no competition.

Ok, now that I've got that off my chest...
I too am very disappointed in this process and the nearly-zero-level of status that these centers are required to provide to the public.
I sent my petition in on 9/1 and received my NOA1 on 9/10. At the time that I sent it in, the processing time from NOA1 to NOA2 was at about 70 days. Yesterday the site said 112 days. tonight it says 128 days!
Their stated target, if I'm not mistaken, is 5 months (150 days). At this rate, we'll be beyond that in a few more days.

As you can see in our timeline, it has been 5 months since I sent our I-129F and I'm still waiting on our NOA2. I'm leaving in the morning for Vietnam for 2 months. So much for hoping to do an interview while I'm there. At this rate, it will be summer before an interview happens.

Thanks for the reply.
I have created the online account and signed up for the mail and mobile alerts.
I check the site periodically I guess I am searching for a reason the last touch was Oct 3, 2010.

We are patiently waiting for NOA2. I have a service request assigned as of a few days ago so I hope with that they will find my file and knock the dust of and proceed.

Good luck one and all.

You may notice in my timeline that our file was 'touched' almost exactly at 5 months (the projected wait time for our particular case). It was almost like the timer went off in their office indicating they had to 'touch' our file. We received an RFE (Request For Evidence) about 5 days after they touched our case. I was initially alerted by email as per what we talked about before.

However, in your case, over 6 months is a long time comparing our timeline to yours. Good thing you have put in a service request.

We are following your timeline now. All the best.

How Often does the USCIS Site update?
How often should I check it?
I am away from home so checking in is my only means of maintaining sanity.

Good Luck everyone.

Have you registered for alerts? All I did was enter the Receipt Number from the NOA1 and opted in for email alerts. You can also opt in for text message alerts. I checked the site periodically for updates, but the only time I saw updates were the same time they had alerted me by email. In my experience the updates were in real time. May I assume that this is what you are asking about?

Good luck and contact me if you need help.

Cheers,
Jerry & Fiona

Well I called again today and heard the following.
Yes you are outside of the five month time line mentioned on the website but this is just an average.

We (VSC) are currently processing August 21 Petitions and therefore you are not out of what we consider the actual time line for processing.
You need to call back after 24 more days and if your case has not processed by that time we can initiate a service request.

Only the government can get away with stuff like that. Can you imagine if you told a bill collector that?

I submitted K-1 also (Vietnam) two weeks before you submitted yours. I just received the RFE a few days ago and nothing else. I think they are getting close to your case.

I'm in Vietnam currently and haven't been on the forum until last night. I received RFE in the mail while I've been away. Actually my attorney received but I'm not sure what day he received. USCIS informed me by email that they would send RFE exactly 5 months to the day December 6 (The night before I left for Vietnam). My attorney said they only requested two photos of my fiance. He has sent the photos. Now, awaiting USCIS response.

At least things are happening now. I'm not worrying about it anymore. Just in VN with my fiance and very happy now and enjoying our time together. 10 days till our engagement ceremony.

Dont dwell on the NOA2 or the timeframe.. It will eat you up.. Been there done that.. enjoy the time together and use it as a time for her to become more familiar with you... this will come in handy if she gets a tough interview...
dont be surprised if the interview isnt until Mar or April for that matter given there is so much time taken off for the upcoming holidays. both US and VN

As long as it's not being delayed for a lack on my end. Fiona and I will have tons more photos and adventures that will help with the interview while I'm there. I'm so excited. Flying out in 441 hours.

I totally feel you!!! I think everyone is pretty much "anxiously, yet patiently" waiting for our NOA2! I think the previous months misled us into thinking it would be a very quick turn around. But from what I heard, we just so happen to file during the busy months. I'm also planning a visit to see my fiance in late December. I was hoping that I could be there when the packet #3 would be picked up to help sort through it all. At this point I'm just thinking "God knows best". It will all happen in due time. So I would say enjoy your trip and more time in getting closer to your soon-to-be spouse. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder... I'm trying to remain optimistic and believe that before we know it, they will be here and this will all be a memory. But also seriously praying for the NOA2 to get here ASAP!!! lol

Yes. All we can do is wait. I just feel like a jerk when my fiancee asks about the paperwork and I never have any news. Her family asks her, she asks me, no word, then she tells them no news and I think they worry too much.

But it takes as long as it takes.
Jerry & FionaMaleVietnam2010-11-18 01:21:00
USCIS Service CentersWaiting on NOA2 from VSC
Ok, according to the averages based on the timeline I've made on this site I should have received my NOA2 by now. I wonder what is taking so long. I check the USCIS website every day and no change. I called them and spoke to someone who could only tell me the same thing and nothing more. My details are in my signature below. As of today it has been 128 days since the NOA1 file date.

I don't expect anyone to have answers. I just felt like mentioning it. If the K-1 approval (NOA2) takes the full 5 months as indicated in the chart on the USCIS website, it will be December 13th (154 days from NOA1 file date). Bummer since, I am flying to Vietnam on December 7th.

I really hoped I could be in Vietnam during the interview. Now looking at the average time between the time the consulate receives the paperwork from NVC to the time of the interview is 108 days. If the full 5 months above between NOA1 and NOA2 becomes the reality, the consulate would get the paperwork from NVC around January 2011 (thus the start of the average 108 duration time till interview), putting the interview sometime around May. I'm coming home the first week of February.

I guess I should just enjoy my trip and hope my fiancee does ok at the interview without me present. Though, I would rather be there for her. Not so easy to explain all of this paperwork and the long wait times to her parents. I've done everything I can.

Any thoughts?

I just tried the 1-2-6-2-4 options and it worked smoothly. Though they couldn't offer me any more information than what I already knew, it was still nice to know that our case hasn't fallen between the cracks. VietnamPhysical Address vs. Mailing Address in Vietnam

Isn't that what I said they did to us?
You dont have to actually get the Pkt 3.. If you call DoS and chekc the status and they say pkt 3 has been sent.. that is good enough... Pkt 4 is another situation though.. she needs that to get the medical... so if you call DoS and they say the interview has been scheduled and within 3 or 4 weeks of the interview she has yet to get the pkt 4.. she can go to the consulate and they will give her the needed letter to get the medical.

Emailing them can be agravating as they may not even respond and when they do it is so cut and paste its frustrating

Yes it is the same as you said. DoS will not tell us anything useful.
