K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of meeting and immunization

Of all that you listed, only the photos show that you have met. But the other things may support the photos. If you have any correspondance such as email with dates that relate to these other items, or your meetings that would help.

Photos are looked on as secondary evidence. Other evidence that the OP listed such as receipts for car repairs/hotel with both names on it would be primary evidence. Depending on the evidence and circumstances, the flight from NJ to Buffalo could also be primary evidence.

mozplay
Use Q18 on the I-129F to detail the circumstances of having met in the required 2 year period and how it established the relationship. Include here also the reason you do not have passport stamps/boarding passes etc due to you driving across. Im sure they are aware of that fact with you being from Canada but you should also include it. You are trying to create the whole picture in the minds eye of the adjudicator. The evidence you will then submit is in support of that answer. You mention a cousins wedding....did both of you attend? If so was there an invitation with both names. Just something else that you may like to include.

Thanks for all the advice. Eclowjpd ... you are scaring the heck outa me!!! But I understand your point. My hotel receipt only has my name on it unfortunately, but we can get a copy of the wedding invitation, which is clearly from his side, so perhaps the two together will suffice. The receipts for my car repairs .. both our names are on that one. We have tonnes of emais - between the two of us, we have saved them ALL (we are both literary - go figure). I will work on getting more photos (or perhaps jsut develop the rolls that are waiting patiently, lol) .... and as I type, I am already plotting out the Q18 letter part of the form.

Thank you again,
Mo

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of meeting and immunization
Hi,
We are gathering all our information for the I-129F package and I was wondering if I could get your advice on the following:

I am trying to get all the medical stuff completed that I possibly can. I got this list of immunizations off another post - can you tell me if it is complete and if there is anything else that you can think of that I can do between now and the formal medical?

Mumps
Measles
Rubella
Polio
Tetanus
Diphtheria toxoids
Pertussis
Influenza type B
Hepatitis B

Is anything on this list not mandatory (I work in a school so I am current with my MMRs and TDP boosters).

Proof of Meeing in last 2 years:
I can't tell you how stressed I am about this as we usually drive to see eachother and don't stay in hotels. Can you tell me if this is enough?

2 Visa statements noting purchases made in the US from me (Canadian)
(Will get same from him)
1 hotel receipt of a 2-night stay for his cousin’s wedding
1 airline booking information (expedia.com) from my flight from NJ to Buffalo (I drove the rest of the way home)
Copy of a parking pass that was issued to me (my car information is on it) to park at the University he was working at last year
Receipt of car repairs done in his hometown last summer (again, my name, his name and car info on receipt)
Photos – at least three of him and I and quite a few with his family and some with mine.

I would just hate to get things denied because we did not have enough proof. Just wondering if I need to check into a hotel sometime soon, lol.

Thanks
Mo

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Record
Hi,
Does the USC ever need to obtain a police record throughout this process? I cannot see that it is needed anywhere but jsut want to confirm.

Also, for me (foreigner) how far back do they want it to go? I ask becuase I lived in Trinidad until I was 17, and I'm not sure if I should get busy on getting something from Trinidad too (they need fingerprinting and it can take 2 - 3 months to obtain the record).

Thanks
mozplayFemaleTrinidad and Tobago2006-07-10 14:49:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFingerprints

You do not require fingerprinting at this stage. That comes later at the AOS stage after you are married.

You will need to get a police check done for this stage of the process.

Ok, but I thought I had to have fingerprints on the form to send away to the canadian police in order to GET the background check? At least that's what I understood??

Hi Cali,
From what I was told you only have to get fingerprinted IF you have a criminal record. If not, then it's just a case of getting a Canada wide RCMP check. Incidentally, I had to get fingerprinted today in Toronto because I need a police record from another country and where I got my fingerprinting done, also did the RCMP check for me. It cost $30 and I can pick it up in 4 - 5 days.

The police records are supposed to be good for 12 months - that's why I'm doing them now - in case anybody is wondering.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfused with the K1

Hi all

I was hoping could pick your brains and get a little help

So my situation is this. I am hoping to marry my U.S fiancee later this year we have just stumbled across all the procedures we need to go through to marry in the states and reside in Maryland state.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Just wanted to wish you good luck. My fiance and I were just as confused about the whole process when we started too. We honestly thought that it would take 30 - 60 days tops, then you would be presented with some sort of a temp. work visa right away and poof! magic! I'd be able to be with David (USC also in MD) as the long-distance is very hurtful now and hopefully help him through school as well. Boy were we mistaken! lol. We have decided at this point that I will simply visit him here throughout the process and hope for the best.

Nevermind ... the people here will give you lots of amazing advice. Just take the time to listen to them and do your research THOROUGHLY before you file. Better to be well informed now and know what to expect than to be taken by surprise later on. :)

All the best!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHelp! Information Needed
I don't know how accurate this is, but I heard somewhere that the gov't has a set number of work visas that are doled out each year and that number has been met. If I am wrong, I apologize a hundred times over, but it may be something to check into.

Thanks for posting this thread, Cass. Like you, we are collecting what we need now and yes, also like you.. we are relying on receipts and things to put us in the same place at the same time. It helps to know what is expected and what is acceptable. Good luck to us both!

We scanned old photos of us, printed on our Photo printer at home, 4-pics-on-1-page.
We also printed our digital pictures from our digital camera using the same method and format.
We print over 30 sheets of 8.5x11 from various places/events where we have been together (in VN)
Approved.

OK... so chuck and/or kim ... you have me a little worried now... what is the average number of pictures one should submit for the original petition? I need to know if we should be doing a whirlwind photo shoot over the next two weeks before we file.

Mo,

I used one of those self-serve photo machines you find in the photo concession at places like Target to put 4 photos on an 8x10 sheet.

Like you I wanted to have something that would fit the file easily.

Yodrak

Beautiful Yodrak! I think I will do the same and then create labels to put beside each one to say where and when etc.. just wanted to make sure I was not going to confuse anyone with not submitting actual 3x5 photos.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespictures

we took time stamped photos in front of street signs (boundry sign with town name) in her country and the airport. We used a digital camera and had originals printed at the photo center. We mailed these photos in as proof of meeting. Make sure to at least write the date of the photo on the back of the pictures if you don't have time stamped pics. I also copied these pictures 2 to a page and attached as well.

Yes, I took someone's advice here on another post and last time I visited David, we took a photo in front of his town sign as additional proof. We also have photos of us in Washington - quite distinctive. Not all are time stamped, but I will certainly write the dates.

We scanned old photos of us, printed on our Photo printer at home, 4-pics-on-1-page.
We also printed our digital pictures from our digital camera using the same method and format.
We print over 30 sheets of 8.5x11 from various places/events where we have been together (in VN)
Approved.

Seems like you used the format I was suggesting for myself (sorry if I am reading it wrong) but 30 sheets just for the proof of meeting?!?! That's about 120 pictures! Wow! I know for a fact that I don't have 120 photos of David and I together (or each of us with respective family/friends) . Many of the photos that we have taken over the past couple of years were of other people and places. We really had to work to get what we thought would be enough evidence together. I hope this does not bite us in the butt later on.

Thanks to everyone for the replies!

Ok, so here is my question...

We have a bunch of pictures to submit as proof of meeting which of course need to be copied. Which is the preferable method?
1. Regular old, take them to a photo place and get them copied, then write the details on the back
or
2. get them photo colour copied, 2 to a page, with details written to the right or left of each picture.

Seems to me like it would be more convenient for the people reviewing the petition to have everything on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, but you never know.

Has anyone ever done it this way?

Your words "you are crazy for even thinking about it!" Feel free anyone to correct me if I am wrong, but you need to be divorced in order to begin the K-1 process - in fact, you need to write a letter of intent stating that you are legally able to remarry. Sorry ... I know it's a long, frustrating process, but as many have said here before ... it's allll worth it in the end.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F phone number question
So we are ready to submit the application - going to do photocopying today and then will post what I have for your approval :)

I have one quick question though, on the I-129F form, Part D, they are asking for the USC's daytime phone number. The current number that he has now may be changing by September 1st. Is it okay to put two phone number's down? What we want to do is put his current number (it's a cell phone number) and the number at his dad's house, which will never change.

Thanks

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespetition just about ready to go
general consensus on the IMBRA forum is that match.com and yahoo.com are both exempt (and in reading the definition, I believe it to be clear) however, just to be on the safe side, a few people who have met on these sites, are indeed stating no, but backing it up with an explanatiion of our interpretation of the act and the contact information anyway, just in case they want it. Unfortunately, to date, I don't think anyone has been approved or denied based on this, so there is nothing to go on. *sigh*

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespetition just about ready to go
Hi all,

Ok, the package is ready to go (as soon as we run out and get our passport photos done – I can’t believe I forgot them yesterday!). Can I please have a quick double check from you sages to make sure everything seems hunky dory?

Here is what is being sent (this list is actually what is on the cover letter):
- Payment in the amount of $170.00
- Completed I-129F
- I-129F supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of meeting in person
- I-129F supplement: Part B, Question 19, explanation of marriage broker (we met via match.com and are not claiming to have met through a marriage broker – just in case an VJers are wondering what this is about – but are giving the contact information anyway just in case.)

- G-325A and passport style photo (Petitioner )
- G-325A and passport style photo (Beneficiary)
- Birth certificate (front and back) (Petitioner )
- Letter of intent to marry (Petitioner)
- Letter of intent to marry (Beneficiary)
- Certificate of Divorce (Beneficiary)
- Proof of having met in person in the past two years

Here is what we have as proof of having met:
- copy of my hotel receipt for a two night stay for David’s (USC) cousin’s wedding in NY, included is a copy of the wedding invite – it only has my name on the receipt, but at least it puts me in the US!

- receipt from an auto repair shop in the US – the receipt information includes my car, along with my name, stating that my contact information is at David’s (name and number included)

- itinerary from flight I took from NJ to Buffalo last March with evidence that David was also living in NJ at that point (I drove then from Buffalo home to Toronto – dayumm!! – travel in the US is cheap compared to Canada!!!)

- Parking passes to park where David was living with my car’s plate on them, copies of my vehicle registration to prove my car, a visa slip to put me in the area, and proof that David was also living there

- Two little gas station receipts that have our names printed on them that put is in the same gas station within minutes of eachother

- Recipt and work order with David’s name on it from the Apple store in Toronto (only bit of real evidence that puts him in Toronto – I guess I am the bigger pack rat)

- 8 photos –1time stamped June 04 and 1 time stamped July 06 – to actually show longevity of relationship

I had to really get creative with some of this evidence as we drove everywhere and never really had cause to fly or stay in hotels. Hope this suffices!

Thanks in advance for all your input!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUsing a cancelled flight as Documentary Proof

First off, I am not an expert. I have learned alot in the last 4+ months of waiting and wondering.

With that said, I sent almost all pages of every document/form.

For example, I had heard that the G-325A required only page 1.

Wrong answer, You need all four (4) pages, for both people.

SEND EVERY PAGE OF EVERYTHING. Save yourself an RFE.

Damn, I wish I had that much evidence on hand!! And I lived with my SO, for 3 years, on two different continents!!!

Thanks! It's one of the few times in my life I've felt proud to be a packrat!

One more question while I'm thinking of it-- On the forms, I don't have to send out the like 9 pages of 'instructions' on how to fill them out, do I? Just the form parts after that? I've been assuming I don't have to, but I'd feel like an idiot if I sent it and found out I did the wrong thing after putting everything else right. :P

William - send even the 6 pages of instructions from the 129F? Really??
