K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnother Set of Dumb Questions -- These Ones about Staples.
We ended up not two-hole punching anything (though I was adamant on doing it). Getting the fasteners was no problem (though I resented paying $5 for 100 when all I wanted was 1). However, none of the copy places we went to had the two hole punch to actully put the holes in the papers! After all was said and done, we used paper clips and bulldog clips. Little bulldog clips for the small bundles of info that I wanted together, and one massive one to hold the entire application together.

All in all.. I will admit now that I overthought the whole process.

Mo

this is what I call a bulldog clip, by the way ...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a Question
I just took a look at our forms and there were a number of instances where the start dates and end dates were different months. Simply because new jobs were started the first of a month. This was the same for addresses. So you having an end date of 04/200? and a start date of 05/200? should be perfectly acceptable.

Aussiewench posted some advice on this not too long ago. If I can find it, I will send you the link.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPart B......Question 12...K-1 Visa application

Mo, I found this:

USA Arrival-Departure Record (Form I-94)
This page has information for visitors to the U.S. about Form I-94 which is issued upon arrival and which should be returned upon departure from the U.S. For general information about visiting the U.S. please use the link below.

Not Applicable to Canadian Citizens

Canadians who travel to the United States as tourists or on business generally do not need a Form I-94.

This page is included here for the benefit of visitors from elsewhere who are traveling to both the U.S. and Canada.

You know, Mew ... I really really hope you have a job in research and development. Otherwise I think your talents are being wasted ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPart B......Question 12...K-1 Visa application
Has she ever received such a form before? I really dont' remember if the customs forms that we all get on airplanes have either of these file numbers on them, but because I drove back and forth most of the time, I never got a form or got stamped.

Best advice... if she gets a form then put the info in. If not, then simply state that she came in on the VWP. Perhaps someone who's SO is from the UK would be best suited to this question.

That being said.. I'd better shut up now so that they can get a word in edgewise, lol.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPart B......Question 12...K-1 Visa application
Hi,
I am in the US visiting as well so we indicated as such. Also, because I was coming from Canada, I did not have an I-94... so I wrote in that box "Canadian citizen - no I-94 issued" or something to that effect.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhen does all the "touching" begin?
I know it's nervewracking, but you can't hinge your hopes on touches. This is how it works in my mind - some officers register working on "touching" your case, while others don't. Now, I have no idea if this is accurate or not, but that's how I imagine it being. You can get approved and never get touched - or you can get touched every day for weeks (just look at Gary and Luz) and still wait an eternity and a half for an approval. Regardless, you know they recieved it and no matter how much we stress (and stress out our SOs) it's not gonna speed things up any.

Take up knitting, lol... anything to keep your hands from going to the USCIS website every two minutes.

Good luck.

Is she already in the US on a student visa? If she is, I believe that a K-1 may not be the route you want to take. Anyone? Can't they marry and her file for AOS (of some sort) since her intent was not to marry when she entered the US? Nevermind... I know someone will chip in.

Welcome to VJ and don't worry too much. Stressing and waiting is just a part of the process. However, now that I know you have allll this time on your hands.. why dont you fill in your timeline? It'll sure help to keep the site stats up to date. Hunt through the timelines as well - you can find filing buddies and get a sense of when you can hope to be approved.

I heard later that the actual NOA2 was needed later on in the process - after your fiancee arrives in the US. Not sure about this... I just read a post recently that someone needed a copy that they never received during the AOS or something like it.

A similar question to Kabigon's #3 question...

Show below last occupation abroad if not shown above. (Include all information requested above.)

Does this include those overseas occupations that may have been greater than 5 years ago (ANYTIME) that were in any other country? Or would this only apply in the past 5 years? In other words, is there any specific timeframe for this particular question?

Thank you!!

My instinct would be to say yes, just list it even if it is out of the 5-year time frame. Why you ask? Because when they ask for police clearances (if you are the beneficiary) you have to do it from every place you have lived since you were 16 so they will know anyway. This is simply one woman's opinion though. Any other takes on this?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A question

Thanks! I have looked at the examples, and I still question it. :) For my question 2 the example is blank. And while 09/2006 could be put where you say, what happens when the petition is worked on and/or the interview occurs and it says 09/2006 in that field? "Present" seems more appropriate I think.

Bruce, know as well that you can fill the form in by hand. However, I would suggest that your fiancee initial any thing that is done by hand IF the majority of the form is computer generated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A question
Hi Bruce and welcome to VJ!

1. In the residence area: "Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than one year." My fiancee answered with her current address just as in the section above, but it's not possible to type in "present time" in the TO field as is printed in the section above, Present Time.

I just looked at my own G-325A (I am the beneficiary) and I put the month that we filed, so for your finacee, if you are filing this month, I would put 09/2006.

As for your question about the second part of the employment area. I put "same as above" as my answer because, of course, all my employment was 'abroad' if you will.

Not sure if you have seen the sample forms, but they are really helpful. That being said, a wonderful VJ member double checked my forms for me as I was paranoid as hell.

Good luck to you!
because we had no boarding passes etc.
This doesn't make sense to me. How can you not have a boarding pass? For security reasons, you must have a boarding pass. How did they do a tally of who checked in and who actually boarded the plane? The boarding pass is use to conduct such tallies. If your flight didn't offer boarding passes at all, how did they do the tally? Was this a tiny little plane with only a few passenger? I can't imagine a big airline not issuing boarding passes for each passenger.
why the 3rd degree? Maybe they lost them.
precisely so.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresInternet Printouts
Hi,
We used our online flight information to prove that I was where I was (ha ha ha - try saying that three times quickly, lol). It was a flight from NJ to Buffalo (I drove from Buffalo back home to Toronto). There were no stamps in my passport to back it up and no boarding passes, but if you have these things then all the power to you. What I did do though, was submit a credit card receipt that also showed that I was there.

We had to do a lot of creative work to prove that we had met, because we had no boarding passes etc.

Just tie your proof back to your "description of having met" story. What many VJers have said in the past is to create a whole picture for the adjudicator to see. You want that person to get a sense of your relationship and of the circumstances under which you met.

You don't need Proof of Ongoing Relationship at this point. When you first submit the K-1 petition, all they are asking for is Proof of Having Met. Save the Ongoing Relationship info for you embassy interview (or in case you get a RFE and they want more info).

Best advice - triple check everything and if you don't think a piece of evidence is not self explanatory, just add a little footnote to the page saying what it is. At least then YOU know you will have done everything in your power.
