K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian Fiancee - Need Help!
You sound just like us, David is a USC in school and I am a "wonderful, beautiful, absolutely amazing woman from Canada."

Okay, seriously, we are in the same boat and David's father will be co-sponsoring for me. This is common and not a problem at all.

Good luck.

My thoughts were that as all the forms are one-sided then in my mind, an adjudicator will not be looking at the back of any pages for information, and something as small as "Back of B/C - blank" could be missed.

That being said, I'm sure that there are people that did not submit a blank back page, or if they did double-sided it. I was not one of those. I decided to recycle lots of other page and waste the one page instead :P

Submit a separate sheet (don't do anything back-to-back) and on it write that this is a copy of the back page of your B/C and that it is blank. I would sign and date this page on the bottom too, but that last bit is just my own advice.

We did not receive any notice that the petition was received at the NVC. Instead, we got a letter from the NVC saying that it will be forwarded to our home embassy within a week. If you want to know when and or if they have received your case, then you could call them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTransferred Petitions
Funny that YuAnd Dan should say that because there are tonnes of threads, even in the past few days about touches and what they mean. Many cases got touched before the 'transfer wave'. Many cases NEVER get touched and then like magic, there appears an approval. No need to worry, per se.

Sorry, can't help you with the other part of your question, as I did not go through that particular part of the process myself.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDHL LOST PAPERWORK FROM NVC DESTINED FOR RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL
bparson,
I am sorry for your frustration. Regardless of the time estimates (though I am optimistic and think that your package will show up) a little common courtest from NVC would have been nice. If they had started off by telling you that they do not make inquiries inside of the 10 - 12 day deadline, and to please call back after that time had passed, that would have been one thing. But unfortunately it seemed as though you simply got the run around from a group of people who had very bad staff meetings that morning. You got excuse after excuse instead of just someone polite and understanding.

Hope things get better from here on out.

Yup, all signed up, just need the NOA1. Was just curious as there's a space for an e-mail address on the I-129F. And really just bouncing off the walls because my mother is driving me crazy about wedding stuff.

So you signed up using the info on the back of your cheque then?

As for your mom, not sure where you will be interviewing, but talk on the Canada forum is tending towards a 3 - 4 month wait if you are interviewing in Montreal. Shorter of course, if using Vancouver.

Here's a thought - let your mom check obsessively for you, so that you can go back to work on your dissertation!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion on G-325a
Hi and welcome to VJ.

Each of the G-325a forms have 4 pages in total. The 4 pages are almost identical. You must fill out all 4 pages, though the information is the same and sign all 4 pages. Your fiancee must do the same for himself, and also sign all 4 pages. He cannot sign your copy. If he is filling out the forms on your behalf, then have him mail them to you for you to sign and then you send them back to him.

The forms are asking for your information and for your fiances. Though the same form is used for both and therefore the questions are the same - your answers will be different, so you cannot make a copy of it for the other person.

To wrap up:
You fill out and sign and date all four pages of your G-325a
Your fiance fills out and signs and dates all four pages of his G-325a

Hope this helps. This page: http://www.visajourn...p;page=examples has examples of most of the forms that you will use throughout the process. Take a look at what is suggested there.

Funny, I just wrote this on another of your posts, but David, my own SO (also the USC petitioner) signed and dated every piece of paper that we included, with the exception of my G-325s and the first few pages of the I-129F. We played it as safe as possible.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresURGENT ADVICE PLEASE!

We all agree that the vulnerable account number needs to be blacked out, minus the last four digits.

Does it really matter if you block out the acct. #, since they can get all your info with the SSN anyway?

I'm not beating a dead horse here, really - I'm going to be going this pretty soon with David and I know he is VERY CONCERNED with identity theft.

Me? I'm Canadian - I'm trusting.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresURGENT ADVICE PLEASE!
Correct me if I'm wrong.. but as long as they have your SSN number, don't they have the authority/tools to get all that info anyway if they wanted it? For legit purposes or not? While they won't go looking for evidence to help you, there is nothing to stop anyone with ulterior motives from finding doing things like checking out your bank balances and/or credit card statements if they really wanted to.

NVC is the National Visa Center. You should take a look at this link:

http://www.visajourn...amp;page=k1flow

It really takes you through the process step by step. Have you taken a moment to really search through this forum? It really is a wealth of information.

Oh..and please don't forget to fill in your timeline once you file - it really helps us all :D Thanks so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHELP!!! Moving but I dont know what to do!
How long until you are planning on moving? If you do intend to move only after your fiancee gets approved (which is what I think you said) then you should simply file now, of course, and then submit an address change after. From the time you submit until your petition leaves NVC (which is where it is sent for approx. 2 weeks after USCIS is finished with it) all correspondence goes to you, the petitioner. Once it leaves NVC and is send to the embassy in your fiancee's area, all correspondence will go to her. (forgive me if i have missed something here, this is just my understanding.) I personally think that it is important to stay where you are at least until your petition leaves NVC. Regardless, it is possible to change your address midway through and I don't believe that it is a huge process, but having never done it myself, you may want to wait for a wiser voice for this one.

Now, I don't know if you have had some time to look at the timelines here, but up until a very little time ago, CSC (which is where you would be filing) was about 100% (no not scientific) slower than VSC (which is where you would be filing if you were in MD. However, recently, people have been getting approved out of CSC within 2 - 3 months - VSC takes approx 1 month.

So with this being said, you will really have to look at the processing times and judge for yourself what the best course of action will be.

As for what the IMBRA is ... in very simple terms ... it was a law that was passed and came into effect this year to try to identify and assist women (it's not gender specific though) who may be walking in to dangerous situations. Specificially, it asks about whether or you used a Marriage Broker to arrange your meeting and about your criminal history. The new I-129F form includes these questions. Make sure you are using the right form and answer it as honestly as you can. There are people who have been approved even though they answered yes to the IMBRA questions.

For a better understanding of the process, your best bet though is to check out the IMBRA forum on this site and just read a few of the posts. It has been explained very clearly there.

Good luck!

We filled out the new I-129F and if I remember correctly, we left it blank too. Whenever possible we put N/A or None, but in this case, it just was not possible.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Meeting
Go take a photo in front of a recognizable landmark and date stamp it - we took a photo in front of his "Welcome to.." town sign (but also had touristy Washington photos from a previous visit). Also, David and I once gassed up at the same gas station and charged it. Your debit cards should show all the same info.
mozplayFemaleTrinidad and Tobago2006-09-24 21:48:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Meeting
This is an instance where I would suggest perhaps using emails to back up visits. For instance, if he wrote you an email saying that he was on his way, or perhaps detailing plans to back up your visits and photos then this would be a good chance to use them to create a big picture.

The ATM slips/bank statements were also a great idea. He must have bought gas at some point!

I'm Canadian and David is from NY (state) as well - so I know the stress. Just get creative; the advice that has been given before is to back up your 'explanation of meeting' paragraph with your evidence in order to create a big picture.

Good luck!

Off the top of my head, I would say to create a separate list, but then copy it 4 times and sign all 4 copies as originals.

Any better ideas out there?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresdo it your self visa kit?
This was my very first question when I posted here so many months ago, lol. Personally, I found the people and guides at VJ to be invaluable. My advice, as long as you have a straight forward case, then spend the next little while searching the forums for knowledge, then go through the motions of filling out the petition and gathering all your info/evidence first - if you are still not comfortable, then perhaps look into a kit or a lawyer.

All the best!
