Thanks to kens great posts we are staying at the apartment now. Everything is as he said. We had the laboratory and doctor appointments yesterday all went well. Riding the city bus standing up is like an e ticket ride. We went to the central commercial mall down town after the doctor and hung out long wait for taxi back from there last night. Well today we are going to check out the sheriff restaurant for lunch soon and visit my fiancees aunt later then interview tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else and any questions on things here will be happy to answer.

I think it is great that my posts were able to help you. Please let us know what happens at the Interview. Remember, PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION AT THE EMBASSY ARE A REAL GOOD IDEA. ESPECIALLY, WITH THE CONSULAR OFFICER LOOKING AT BOTH OF YOU/SIZING YOU TWO UP.

Thanks for your suggestions....my friend just returned from Cali a couple of weeks ago and had his fiance sign a 325A...unfortunately he forgot to check the form expiration date and there is a more current one available now. So he needs to send one down and get it signed...I had used Fedex in the past but remember it being expensive, so I will pass on your suggestions! Muchas gracias!

Your friend sounds like he has lots of money to burn. wacko.gif

Why not have him:

1. Download the link, print the forms: http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1forms
2. Scan the completed forms in .PDF FORMAT. Any competent Internet Cafe will have a staff that is able to do this.
3. Email the forms back to your in-box in .PDF FORMAT

My Fiancee Leidys looked on-line, and most hotels in Bogota charge approximately $80 per night. That city is not budget-friendly like Barranquilla or Santa Marta. no0pb.gif

Last month, we stayed at www.welovebogota.com and it cost us roughly $40 per night. Much more economical -- Plus, it is only 2 BLOCKS FROM THE EMBASSY. 10 MINUTES ON FOOT. yes.gif

Here is a picture of me standing in the neighborhood with the embassy just over my left shoulder.

For under 5 000 COP each way, you can visit Salitre Plaza - a short ride from www.welovebogota.com for all of your shopping needs.

1 Block from the US Embassy is a great American-style Western-themed restaurant.

DS 156 only for K1 or do i need to fill that out at the embassy?

James,

Form DS-156 is the visa application for K visas, both K1 and K3. If you choose to go for the K3 visa, your wife will have to go to Banco de Crédito with two filled out DS-156 forms and pay $131. But in all honesty it's a waste of money because you already paid the visa fee of $400 to the NVC for the CR1.

Diana

since i filled for the k1 visa i only have to fill this form out i do not have to pay the 131?

Yes, you will need to pay the $131 fee for the K-1 Visa.
Laboratory Fee = ~$90
Physical Fee = ~$80
Vaccinations = ~$200 (I think)
Domesa Delivery Fee = ~$30
Your AOS fee will be about $1,000.00 after you marry your Fiancée.

These fees completely emptied my bank account (combined w/travel to Bogota (From/To LAX) + (From/To BAQ) wacko.gif

i posted this in the us embassy and consulate forum earlier and i noticed the one was for the Colombian embassy so i was wondering if some one can help me understand a few things, i was reading Peters Miami post at , (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2572) top of the page, and reading about the package 3 from the embassy page on what i need to do and i have many question about the k1 visa once you get the noa2. i just need to know exactly what forms i need to send in when i get my noa2. i have not received my noa2 yet but i want to prepare as much as i can. i am reading about the packages on the colombia embassy website from these links.

Instruction package for visa k... http://bogota.usemba...ctionsfeb09.pdf
visa k appointment package for http://bogota.usemba...kapptfeb010.pdf

first question is what package do i need to follow, instruction package for visa k or visa k appontment package or both?

i have read on this board when you get the noa2 that i should fax and send documents through courier but the instruction package for visa k says Submitting duplicate copies of the required forms will delay visa processing. is this true? so do i send both ways?

the following questions are about the visa k appointment package if this is something i do not need the question below do not need answered.

my second question is the first thing they say i do is fill out the ds156k for nonimigrant. so i fill out this for me, is this correct?

third question is they say i pay 131 to Banco de Crédito. is this also correct?

and my fourth question in this thread ( http://www.visajourn...?showtopic=2572 ) said we need to send these forms in OF-169, DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1. what is OF-169?

Fifth question is DAS CERTIFICATE – Entries and exits to and from Colombia for the past 10 years. This document may be obtained in Bogotá at the DAS Office located at Calle 100 #11B-27, Edificio Platinium. if she has never left does she still need these documents?

thanks in advance for taking your time to read this and guide me

#1 http://www.visajourn...e...&cty=Bogota This pretty much tells you everything. Study it.

You will need to email via .pdf file to get an interview.
Do not send various forms from various people - that would be a big mistake.
Start setting up this stuff now, so you have less waiting to do:
1. DS-2100 (page 4 of packet 3 instructions)
2. DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 & 2 only)

Get your Fiancee to get her passport photos, her Passport, Colombian Birth Certificate, everything listed that she will need is at: http://www.visajourn...e...&cty=Bogota

Do you have all of your tax information so that you can complete your I-134 in a timely manner? Divorce decrees, Proof of citizenship, DAS Migratorio form?
Once again: http://www.visajourn...e...&cty=Bogota

The DS156K will be necessary for your beneficiary when she arrives at the US Embassy, and places her forms inside of the supplied manilla envelope she will be given. When you receive your NOA2, you will know it is time to rock and roll - not sit around. Send in the completed DS-2100 (page 4 of packet 3), and DS-230 Part 1 (only pages 1 & 2). This will tell the embassy that she is ready for her interview and that she has everything in place. When you do this (after you get your BGT#), you will need to get her to focus on getting everything together immediately. Let us know when this happens, and we'll go from there, amigo. good.gif

Question:

1) Will this be enough proof in the eyes of the colombian embassy regarding the I-134 form? (I will bring bank statements, Guarenteed loans, W2's)

Side note:
I called USCIS, where the document comes from, and asked them the same question. They responded that as long as I can show any source of income coming to my bank account I should be find. However, I'm sure we all know that what they say at one place doesn't mean it happens or is believed in another place.

During the Interview process, my paperwork was scanned over fairly quickly. My situation is different from yours, but all you can do is fill out the I-134, and take it with you to the Interview with all of your tax information filled out correctly. The CO told me specifically that the Bogotá Embassy is a magnate for Visa Fraud. This appears to be what the CO is focusing on primarily. The CO didn't bother asking me for a new "Letter of Intention." Although, he did make sure that he had my tax forms *with* W2 statements included. That seemed to be where the emphasis was. He also kept everything that I handed him. So, I was careful to give him photocopies of my tax forms. Let me know if this adequately answers your questions? My Interview was 3 weeks ago. This is a photo of Leidys in front of the Laboratory Clinic where we arrived shortly after 7 a.m. on Monday, October 5th.

Ken gave you the run down of the interview process and how it is at the embassy...the questions and comments appear to be different as to the CO who is conducting the interview and your particular situation ie... have you petitioned someone before, or has your fiancee had a prior file. If so, they might venture down the fraud road a little more in depth, we didn't really have any mention of this. We had so much proof of relationship with us and in order and not only did the CO hand me my original evidence though the window but never asked for any thing additional. They did ask us about communication with each other referring to language barrier. Also, if either of you have been previously married they did ask myself and Alexandra about my previous divorce(date, reason, children from a previous marriage, etc...) Just try to relax and know your current relationship, dates of relationship milestones and visits, likes and dislikes, how you met. The one thing that was noteworthy was the CO had a list of like 8 questions she asked Alexandra and she went down the list with me when it was my turn and crossed through the questions on the notepad after I answered, their version of check and balances to see if we are on the same page, so as long as you and your fiance are in the same relationship this should not be much of an issue....lol.

My interview was interesting, in that the CO was primarily concerned about me previously seeking a K-1 for another woman nearly 2 years ago. For 15 minutes, he only asked me questions related to this previous relationship, and how I made the decision to file for my Fiancee. This topic came up while the CO was reviewing my I-134 documentation. It made me real nervous how he asked me in an almost condescending way. The key was, I had to relax and tell the truth about what happened and how I closed that case months before filing again for Leidys.

Be ready to discuss your work, how you make a living (in these difficult times), and your 'pruebas' or Evidence of On-Going relationship. Be sure to look happy in your photographs, surrounded by as much family as possible, and know as many particulars about your Fiancee and her family as possible. The names and ages of family members, their impression of you, your Fiancee's date of birth, her career goals. Remember, that this is a "High Fraud Consulate" and people are doing and saying anything to leave Colombia...for a price. The burden will be on you to act as your own liaison to get that Visa. Good luck.

so plan on two trips there I guess to the bank where you pay the fee. They tell you what to do.

Save your $$$ and have your Fiancee get the Visa Fee paid in her hometown. This way, you aren't paying taxi's to drive you to and from in an expensive place like Bogota where the taxis are metered and traffic sometimes comes to a standstill.

At the Bank, your Fiancee will be told precisely what is needed in terms of forms, so two trips will not be necessary. Have your Fiancee review the Spanish-language at this webpage - http://spanish.bogot.../visaderes.html (español) and she will know what to do.

If she can't find the info, my Fiancee Leidys can be of assistance, and send me a PM, amigo. good.gif

So now my question is... what is the pattern for the the interview?

You will get to the Embassy at 6 a.m., and stand in line #3.

You will take off your belt, and have your interview appointment letter in your right hand.

After walking through the x-ray area, handing in your cellular phone at the guard shack, you and your Fiancee will walk to a round table across the parking lot and wait your turn to sign in and receive a large, cardboard folder w/list of instructions.

After waiting behind everyone in front of you (reminder: get in line #3), your list of ingredients will be just like the Packet 4 list. Your Fiancee will be told in Spanish to place all materials in the exact order that is given on the form. She will be given about 30 minutes - 1 hour to get this done, and then she will be called up to one of the last windows. After handing in the forms, get your restroom break, because you'll now be asked to get on the hot seat at a moment's notice.

After going to one of the first windows to give her fingerprints, you will be asked to wait an hour, two hours, or maybe more. When you are called up to the window, you will be asked to raise your right hand and perform your oath of honesty, and you will talk over a telephone to a Consular Officer through a bulletproof window. This is where you are on the spot. You will need to explain the dates that you met, visited, visited again, etc. Flights in and out of the country had better be memorized and fluid. Have your Proof of Ongoing Relationship ready and tabbed for FAST removal to give to the CO. He will explain about HIGH RATES OF FRAUD, and will either accept or deny your Visa petition. This will be serious high-anxiety stuff, so be ready. Good luck. good.gif

Thank you for your inquiry.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to divulge more specifics of the administrative processing. I can tell you, however, that these processes currently have a backlog of about six months. We expect to finish the process in the case shortly, and we will contact as soon as possible after the process is finished.

I am not quite sure how to interpret the message "6 months backlog"- maybe add 6 months onto the normal AP time of 2-3 months? I'll be hitting six months of AP the end of this month....

My fiancee has her interview on thursday, dec. 3. What is the probablility that we can pickup her visa at domesa offices in bogota on saturday, dec. 5 or will it be monday, dec. 7?

Our interview was Oct 8 and it got delivered on the 19.There was one hoilday and four weekend days inbetween. So 19-8=11 - 4 weekend days =7 - 1 holiday = 6 days.
They claim 6 to 8 business days.

Our Interview was on October 7th, and the Visa & Passport arrived at the Domesa office in Barranquilla on Friday October 16th.

Leidys received a phone call on the morning of Monday October 19th explaining that Domesa does not travel to her barrio. blink.gif She picked her Passport/Visa package on Tuesday the 20th kicking.gif .

So 19-7=12 -- 7 business days total delivery time from Bogota to Barranquilla via Domesa.
1 Jeep trip with solid Jeeper friend, Victor = Priceless good.gif

Hi YES its so ready to be sent monday email..
We are ready for a date,,
Via Las Vegas Ken jajaj

Uh, with 202 days *before* AP, I would be ready as well. Also, the funny part is that I dragged my feet with regard to sending in my K-1, and you sent yours in almost 2 months in advance, and the California Service Center processed my paperwork in just over 90 days (May 1st-August 4th). I'm hoping you can get that K-1 real soon after all of this waiting around so that we can see you both in Las Vegas. good.gif kicking.gif

Carl,

Email them the .pdf files on Monday - you can't lose! good.gif They'll get back with you on Tuesday, and by Friday you should hopefully get an email stating that everything has been accepted and for you to "watch the list." From there, you can call NVC for your appointment date, and it'll be Bogota!!! Bogota!!!

Thanks Ken. Will do!

I agree we faxed with the same timing on a monday and by thursday we had an email back saying the received everything. The short cut works

Have you ever met someone who was working feverishly to get caught up on their work on a Friday afternoon? innocent.gif My vote is for Monday afternoon, amigo! good.gif

JP still hoping for you

Leidys traveled to a rough part of Barranquilla (near Parque Amistad) for her package at the Domesa office. She returned home with everything, and her brother joked with her about leaving this Sunday. She is staying in Barranquilla until the 21st or 22nd of November so that she can celebrate her 29th Birthday with her family and relatives. I can't wait to see her, but she needs this time to be with her family before she moves here.

Thank you for your inquiry.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to divulge more specifics of the administrative processing. I can tell you, however, that these processes currently have a backlog of about six months. We expect to finish the process in the case shortly, and we will contact as soon as possible after the process is finished.

Best regards,
Immigrant Visa Unit

Joe -- Keep us posted!?! I'm sure once you get approved, things will fly must faster for both of you. Buena suerte! good.gif

Joe

That 2nd K-1 attempt had me sweating during the interview. My being at the interview was interesting from the standpoint that the CO had so many questions to ask about, "Why was I re-applying, and where did the first Beneficiary go?" So, I wasn't sure how long we would wait for our K-1. It looks like tomorrow I will call Leidys, and she plans on having our K-1 and her Passport in her hands (finally).

The front seat of my Rubicon was too small to sleep on, so I curled up on the back seat for seven hours!

I have a Jeep Wrangler Sahara and I cannot even fathom the thought of sleeping in the back seat for even an hour. There's just no room! laughing.gif

You should give it a try...I'm living proof that it can be done!
