K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January Filers at the CSC - How are you doing?	My ex-wife and I did it on the cheap back in '01. We married in Palm Springs, CA at the Moorten Botanical Garden for $300 on Palm Canyon Drive. Everything included (chairs, sun shade for guests, and free tour for guests to see cactii and Cactarium). We drove down the street to Palace of India restaurant and paid out $480 for 32 guests to dine for 3 hours. We were able to choose all of the great food in the buffet section, and the restaurant was happy that we wanted to hold our reception in their restaurant. 1 night in the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA for dirt cheap (in the Amistad room!!), and the next night everyone piled in my pickup and we drove to Tijuana where we partied like rock stars. Another cheap night out. The next morning everyone went with us to Disneyland. Then, we drove out the next day to Las Vegas to party/unwind. Great memories, but 1 year later, everything went downhill like a sinking (stinking?) ship. I'm looking at packages in Las Vegas at the moment...	Ken y Leidys	Male	Colombia	2008-06-11 15:47:00

This is the end of my visa journey for bringing her here to the USA. I want to thank everyone here on this thread for all the happy and frustrating times we shared. And all the waaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiittttttiiiiinnng. I hope you are all adjusting well with your spouses. Same as I will never forget our visa try, I won't forget this thread and all of you here. EOTR, Sorry to hear your Visa App ended. It was a journey that I am happy to say was one for the better. Leidys and I are very happy and I cannot imagine life without her. Ok from my reading on here it seems that it is highly advisable for my fiancee to obtain her SS# BEFORE we get married, then apply for the name change. My fiancees POE date is Dec. 13th, I want to be married before the end of the year for tax purposes. If I wait two weeks then that puts applying for the SS# around Dec 28th or 29th...that is IF she is in the system by then, and I think that may be iffy because of the holidays. Then this would only leave us about 2 days for the marriage. My question is...does it really matter? Could we marry right after she arrives, then apply for the SS# 2 weeks after her arrival but apply using her maiden name, then when she receives her number, file for the name change? Is this doable? I went to get my SSN 2 weeks after I arrived & I wasn't in their system yet so I went back later, still not in the system so I just applied for the number (they have to send away for it, it'll take 8 weeks) 2 days before we married. after u get married u have to apply for the marriage cert & that takes a month or more, we got married on the 11nov & still dont' have our cert. so If she waits untill after u get yr cert it'll be too late. so yes go ahead with yr wedding plans then go & apply for her SSN as soon as u can in her maiden name then change it when you finally get yr marriage cert. U can't apply for AOS till u have it either. Man i can't wait for it to come so I can apply for AOS! Hope this makes sense I just reviewed the site: http://www.losangele...quirements.html and it does not mention the need for a Social Security Card or number in order to get married in Los Angeles, CA. I also did a search of Las Vegas requirements, and neither did 'Vegas require a Social Security Card or number. During these interviews, you just have to know your history well, and not lie about a single thing. They're looking at your eyes and body language the entire time. Her Fiancee is from Missouri and probably did not speak Spanish too well - plus, they probably were not members of VJ. Leidys sat with this young woman and explained everything that she could, and the woman was told that she could pay with a credit card, but would need to return with a completed I-134 was given a few days to complete this form and return to the embassy. Leidys was the most intelligent woman with goals, values, and also looks that I thought would make a nice friend - someone that I would always want to correspond with, but nothing more. I was hurt and non-trusting at this point, but she found me to be a gentleman that was reserved and also someone at her level that she could connect with. Things didn't really become serious until I was hospitalized due to heart palpitations and faintness while at work in September 2008. While unable to move my arms or legs, and w/heart monitors attached all over, I had time to really think about my priorities and make some decisions. It did take some time to get to know Leidys, and after several months, I felt comfortable with the idea of re-filing one last K-1 for a foreign beneficiary. The CO in Bogotá asked me several questions regarding these decisions, as he examined my I-134 and noticed that this was not my first K-1 visa that I had applied for. Because I requested a waiver to be added to my K-1 Visa application, I was able to re-apply within the 2 year time frame. The CO told me that because I had so much proof of an on-going relationship, that he would APPROVE our petition for a K-1 single-entry visa into the U.S. I told him, "Thank you, Thank you..." and we were on our way.
