IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFiling taxes as married
Im using TurboTax. Trying to file Married filing seperately. I believe I read somewear here that to do this, I should insert NR or NRA into the SSN area. TurboTax will not let me do this. They want a number, not letters. Am I going about this all wrong?

Breaking News:

http://www.uscis.gov...000082ca60aRCRD

Delayed Immediate Relative Petitions, (Form I-130) at Texas Service Center

In November 2010, USCIS transferred approximately 36,000 Immediate Relative petitions from our California Service Center to our Texas Service Center. We anticipated that this redistribution of work would result in more timely adjudication of these petitions. Due to a number of unforeseen circumstances at our Texas Service Center, many of these cases have not been processed and are beyond our estimated processing times. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused you and we are making every effort to remedy this situation as soon as possible.

On Feb. 7, 2011, we implemented a rapid response plan to expedite the adjudication of these petitions. We have transferred a large number of these Immediate Relative petitions back to our California Service Center :bonk: to take advantage of resources currently available to immediately process these cases. Petitioners will see an action such as an approval, denial or a Request for Evidence (RFE) on their case from our California or Texas Service Centers by the end of February. Additionally, we have briefed the Department of State’s National Visa Center about these cases.

We encourage you to monitor the progress of your case by accessing My Case Status online. If you do not see any action on your case, such as an approval, denial or an RFE, by March 1, 2011 you may contact USCIS at: I-130Inquiries.Tsc@dhs.gov

We remain committed to the prompt resolution of all pending cases and will provide updates on our progress in the coming weeks.

That is all i was asking for: a public announcement that "we messed up". But transferring back to CSC hmmmmmm :bonk: dont know about that :help:

what u guys think....

For those of you getting email alerts whenever a post in this thread, I can hear you know, "Damn that SqdnGuns, not again!!"

Well, my persistence paid off, I just got an email from the Director of the Texas Service Center, this is a reply to one that I sent to her 20 minutes before getting this reply.

Mr. Grant,

Thank you for your email. I had received one over the weekend from you and your case was approved this morning. You should be able to see it on the case status online tomorrow or Wednesday. I would have to agree with you that the process was temporarily broken, but we have taken steps to correct this and we will have all cases processed within the next weeks. Hopefully your future experiences with USCIS and with TSC will be more positive. My apologies for your wait, and I hope that your son recovers soon and fully.

Regards,

Angela K. Barrows

I truly hope that hey have fixed their errors for the sake of the rest of you. I am waiting to hear back from her whether our case will be expedited @ NVC and the Embassy.

Congrats Brother!!! You should've been one of the first one approved!!! :star:

Sweet! Friday at 8:15PM I received an email saying that my I130 was approved and on the website it shows that it's in the post decision activity status. 216 days or 7 months and 1 day after my receipt date. Maybe fasting did make a difference.

I got this message from TSC today saying all applications will have a response within 2 weeks:

"Unfortunately, our office is closed today because of the ice/snow storm that has hit Texas, but I did not want you to wait to hear from me. The I-130s are the priority for the Texas Service Center and we will have an action taken on every petition within the next 2 weeks. On a separate note, we are working with our call centers to ensure a more accurate and consistent delivery of information so hopefully your experience will not be repeated."

That sounds like great news!

I wish they get stuck from uscis to nvc !! LOL!! The oct/nov fillers think that we all go though some "drama" "it's uscis fault not ours and we don't think that oct.nov should not start to get aprovals" :o in less than 3 months!! they go faster only because our cases go slower ; and they call it "drama" :angry:

I know, I read all that over there. They are excited and don't understand what we are going thru. Im happy for them. Its not there fault that we are stuck. I just wish TSC would get there act together.

I have never posted here but have actively browsed this site and especially this thread...I too was transferred to texas on november 2, 2010 and had started in california with me mailing it on august 6, 2010.I became frustrated like many here and was beginning to lose hope and faith in this bureaucratic bullshit, so I mailed my congresswoman and her aide wrote them and received this email and got this response:

Dear Mr. ,

Our office received below response from the Texas Service Center. I hope this information helps you. Thank you

Mr. ‘s I-130 petition, WACxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxxxx- will be requested to be worked ASAP. Please allow 45-60 days to receive a decision or other notice of action.

Thank you for your inquiry and please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have further questions regarding this case.

So much to my expectations, I did not receive any phone call regarding the status of my case. Against my better judgment, I phoned the USCIS, and my call got escalated to an Officer.

After having explained my situation to him, here's basically how the conversation went:

Officer: Your application is at the Dept. of State.

Me: Really? No, I'm not sure that that is the case.

Officer: Yes, your application is at the Dept. of State.

Me: That's not what the last two officers at the USCIS told me.

Officer: They were wrong. Your application is at the Dept. of State sir.

Me: I just called the Dept. of State though, they have no record of me or my file- if the USCIS had in reality sent my application to them in November, I ought to be in the system by now.

Officer: My computer is telling me that your application is at the Dept. of State.

Me: With all due respect Officer, are you sure? Come to think of it, the last three USCIS officers had somehow verified that my application had never left the TSC, that the letter you are referring to was in fact sent to me in error.

Officer: Sir, you are wasting time- as I said, your application is at the Dept. of State. Just like your service request letter states.

Me: WHAT? That is NOT what the letter states- the letter actually doesn't state ANYTHING useful, just two blank lines! (refer to above, original post)

USCIS: Sorry sir, but according to my computer and the letter we sent you, your application is at the Dept. of State.

Me: But Officer, I am holding my letter, I am clearly proficient in English, I know what I am reading, and am NOT reading what you are telling me the letter states.

Officer: You will just have to wait. I am sorry but we cannot continue this conversation because you are not listening to me.

Me: I don't mean any disrespect Officer, of course I am listening to you, I am just trying my level best to understand what's going on.

Officer: As I said, your application is at the Dept. of State.

Me: Umm, ok, when should I call back to inquire again?

Officer: That is up to you sir.

Me: And there's nothing else you can do to further assist me?

Officer: No.

Me: Thanks so much for your patience and your time Officer, good bye.

Officer: [No reply]

Me:
:blink:

Sorry, but im laughing at your post. The guy sounded like a robot. And we wonder why this country is in trouble.

USCIS Expedite Criteria

All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the Director. The criteria are as follows:

* Severe financial loss to company or individual
* Extreme emergent situation
* Humanitarian situation
* Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States
* Department of Defense of National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)
* USCIS error
* Compelling interest of USCIS

Hmmm,
Wonder if I could expedite because of USCIS error. The error that I was sent to "freakin" TSC.

Fermat - totally agree with you and have been saying the same thing. The only thing that was speeded up by the transfer of our cases to TSC was the ability of CSC to process cases later than ours. Why the USCIS doesn't look at this more "wholistically" is tough to digest. I contacted my congressman's office last week, and they're getting involved. I do think that the more calls the TSC gets from inquiring congressmen reps, the better. Maybe at some point it will be recognized that there's a real consistent issue here, not just a couple of people who are impatient. Let's keep putting the pressure on...

Im with you. We were transfered to TSC also. My NOA1 is Aug 24. Most likely the end of the line for the people that were transfered. God only knows when our NOA2 will come.

I am one of the four I-130 (IR-1) Petitioners that was approved by TSC after being transferred from CSC. My NOA2 date is 23 November. The problem I now face is that I have not yet received my NVC case #. To my knowledge neither have the other 3 petitioners. I called NCSC this morning, and the representative told me that my case had indeed been approved, and that it was forwarded to NVC. I then talked to a representative at NVC, and was told that since I had not yet received my case # by now, that I could expect at least a 90 day additional wait. Wednesday will be 15 business days since my petition was approved. I will send NVC an email with a copy of my NOA2 attached on Wednesday if I still do not have a case #. I don't think it will do any good though. I am now convinced that the transfer from CSC to TSC HOSED ALL OF US!!!!

Thats so messed up!
