CanadaApproved November Filers - The Wait for Interview

I've read a few stories where some people have crossed and were stopped at the border. These same people ended up going to their K1 interview's and having to explain to the CO why they were stopped at the border. Usually the CO will put this sort of thing into consideration and it will likely go into Administrative Processing where the CO investigates the situation to make sure nothing more occured at the border. All in all it causes more grief then its worth sometimes. Just know that if your stopped at the border, you'll end up having to explain it to the CO at the time of interview -which may or may not go into AP. if it goes into AP, your wait time will feel like an eternity. I know it sucks, but that's procedure here.

Mummm, that's weird because I've actually read quite the opposite from some people on here. Being turned around at the border as a 'visitor' supposedly has no outcome on 'immigrant visas'

Thanks for the input anyways

Thanks so much you guys!!!
So I'll just say I'm going to visit my fiancé for 5 weeks and leave it at that. I'll bring my whole filing thingy in case they ask for something, but my gut feeling tells me everything will be ok. I haven't been to the States since November 2009 so...

netguy,
I admire your positivism, but right now, I think there's no telling when the next interviews will be scheduled, and for what month, thanks to Montreal's lack of reliability! But I hope you're right! :star:

Thanks nickbits!
I just don't want the guy to say you're not allowed to travel to the US while waiting for a K-1 visa, because I know it's not true... So I just wanted to know which department could actually confirm that...

But thanks for the reassurance!

Good Morning!
So is there anyone that knows which department (DOS or NVC) could confirm to me that we are allowed to travel to the US while waiting for a K-1 visa? I want to know just in case I get drilled bad and then I can say: 'well a lady at ... told me I could!'

Thanks and have a good weekend everyone!

I didnt get a chance to call today but I am sure I would have been told "no date set" :( Guess I wont get a chance to call till Wed. Monday I will be going to my aunts house who lives near toronto because I have my Medical on tues. between 7am and 8am. Yikes that is way too early for me. Hope my medical goes alright. really nervous

Oh....Don't worry it's all gonna go just fine... It's ridiculously easy and if you have general good health, you'll be fine and dandy! I was very nervous about chest x-rays because I've been smoking for 8 years, and everything looked good.
Don't worry everything is gonna go alright! Let us know when you get back!

Brenda2010,
Joining you for beers too! Enjoy the cottage!

Wishing,
Yep, you can say that we have lost hope, at least I have!

To everyone,
Should I book my flight now and save money or take a chance and wait until next Friday evening to see if dates were assigned?

Has anyone called yet? I will later on this afternoon so I'll let you guys know...

BTW, Julesrose got their interview yesterday morning and got approved! I'm telling you, the interview is a very easy part!

J&J,
Thanks for the info! I don't know, I spoke to someone going through this process and she visited her fiancé while waiting for a date and apparently she got drilled pretty bad the two times she crossed the border to fly from the US, but had no problem flying directly from Montreal... I don't know what to do...

AandB,
I guess we don't have any modalities... Last Friday I guess we were all down because we didn't have a date yet, so we starting drinking... I just couldn't wait for tomorrow, Pina Coladas were calling me...

Ken and Kate,
I think your date will be fine... I don't see why they would wait until September to give us dates... There's really no reason why we're still waiting actually... And our NOA2 are expiring soon, and even though they'll automatically extend it because of the delays with Montreal, I don't think they like to extend it for too long either...

And who knows, maybe tomorrow will be our lucky day!

:D

This is CRAZY! Gosh, I'm at the point where this is more comical than devastating really!

So do you guys know what airlines usually has the best fare for US travels?

But eh, there's always tomorrow (HUGE knock on wood)

Cheers! (Oh, and by the way, Brenda2010 , I can't wait until tomorrow for our virtual cocktails, Pina Coladas are on their way!)

mandaNchris,
It was your birthday? Well hot damn! Happy birthday!! (F)
I wish you a date for your birthday, and one for me too even though it's not my birthday...

beantown79,
Good luck today for your medical! And I wouldn't worry about a thing, it's pretty basic...
You should be ok traffic wise since Medysis -assuming that's where you're going - is far from the track... Well, I guess you never know with Montreal and crazy French drivers (I'm allowed to say that by the way because I'm one of them)... Have fun in Boston, that city is awesome, and I'm sure your hubby is too!

Well, I'm off to doing not much! Oh, star_shine had her interview yesterday and said it was ridiculously easy. She was approved fyi...

Have a good day and happy birthday again mandaNchris!

Sounds like the lady I got the other day! She was the nicest but I could barely make out what she was saying! But I guess 'no interview' is pretty clear, no matter what the accent!

Wishing,
Haha! Fooled you!

Well troups, we have this Friday and then next week to hope and pray for July! Let's send Montreal good vibes and maybe they'll wake up from their interview-date-coma...

Have a good evening!

Gosh, I haven't been this depressed in a loooonnnnng time. I don't even know what to do anymore, I feel like calling is pointless now even though I will anyways...
I don't understand how they can let us hang like this for so long... I don't underdtand why they would skip July even though that's what it seems they're doing... I wonder now when we will get our interview, August, September?
We've filed in November, and now I'm worried that the whole process is going to take a full year and I'm depressed as hell...
I miss Chris and our dog soooo bad, and I can't stand being away anymore, I wish there was a pill I could take and sleep it off and wake up the morning of the interview...

Sorry for the double post guys, I guess getting impatient and typing the 'add reply' twice will make it appear twice...

So I forgot to say that I asked the lady if she had any idea if Montreal was gonna skip July, and that's when she replied that there was no telling since Montreal has been backlogged for 6 months...

I'm giving them to the 18th, and if not, I'm flying home on the 23rd, f*** it, might as well try to enjoy my summer with my love instead of waiting around getting depressed about dates!

Cocktails on Friday it is then! Either way! And snacks too, nachos are the BEST with a cold one! And I say if we get dates close together and if some of you will be staying in Montreal for the night, we all have 'live' cocktails to celebrate our approvals!

Keep you all posted tomorrow anyways!
Cheers!

Yep, I also called and nothing yet. The lady was very nice even though I could barely understand her. She said that several people were in this situation - no...really? - and that my file looked beautiful, but that Montreal has been backlogged for 6 months. So, I don't think she meant we'll wait 6 months for dates, that wouldn't make sense...

Let's keep our hopes up! I mean, the last people to have been logged in/interview dates were people from March. So, I don't see why we would have to wait much longer for a date, and hopefully it'll be for July...

Alright, well I'm gonna call again tomorrow... There's no point in me saying I'll only call 3 times a week, I'm so stessed with this B.S. that I'm calling everyday now...

Here's our list again, with how many days we've all been waiting for a date...

- mandaNchris (April 16th) : Been waiting for interview date for 53 days
- Rose416 (April 16th ?) : Been waiting for interview date for 53 days
- Vero and Chris (April 26th): Been waiting for interview date for 42 days
- J & J (April 27th): Been waiting for interview date for 41 days

Canadads 160

hi guys, hope someone can help me. I am completing the DS 160 form online, and it says under family enter current spouse or if divorced enter previous spouse infor. I am divorced so just want to make sure as I am a K1 I put my ex husbands info here not my fiance's info?

Thanks

Hi!
Sounds to me that you should put the ex-husband's info on there. I'm sure someone else will confirm this.
Good luck on your journey!

CanadaQuestions about P3
Hi!
I can't seem to get a clear and definite answer on these two, so I'm asking you guys 'cause I know you'll enlight me!

A)
First, I am getting my birth certificate and my criminal background check translated by a retired translator. He signed, for both documents, a paper that state :" I, ___________________________, certify that this document is a translation from French to English, and that I have the skills required to do this translation. Signed on ______________ in Trois-Rivières, Qc, Canada". AND, I'm getting those two documents certified by a notary. Will this be ok with the consulate?

B)
Second, on a question in one of the forms to fill in for the P3 (sorry I have neither the form nor the question close by) they ask for the dates of any previous trips to the U.S. About 6 years ago, I went to Michigan twice for a short time in the span of 6 months. I drove there once and flew the other time and didn't have a passport since it was not required for Canadians at the time. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea of the exact dates I went there, and have ABSOLUTELY no proof or receipts. I can say it was around September-October the first time, and late December early January the second time. What do you suggest I write down? An attachment explaining my situation?

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to answer! It would be a GREAT help if someone did!

Good luck to those of you who have their interview soon! Let us know how it went!
Vero and ChrisFemaleCanada2010-03-24 14:47:00
Canadastamp or seal in canada
I read a review of the Montreal consulat recently and the officer they were dealing with almost gave them a hard time because the translation had no seal on it.

So, I got my background check and birth certificate translated by a retired translator. He gave me a statement of fee in English, for both documents, and he signed a sheet that was adressed to the consulate in which he stated he was qualified to do such a translation. Then, I got everything, even the copies, notarized. That was free.

If you want, let me know I can send you the sheet he signed as an exmaple for you to use with your translator.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything!

CanadaShould I be Worried?
So...
I called NVC, and they fowarded our approved petition to Montreal on the 24th of March.
Called DOS, twice, and they said that our P3 was mailed on the 31st of March.
STILL no P3 today, after 6 days (Easter weekend...). Should I be worried? I mean, I live one hour out of Montreal, mail shouldn't take this long. Do you guys think it's late because of Easter weekend?

Don't know what to think! :crying:

Canadatime between mailing packet 3 and interview date (Montreal)

Well, as someone that's gotten theirs recently - I know that those who filed Packet 3 in January and February (for the most part) just received dates for May, but like everyone else said, it could be awhile, or it could not. They tend to do them in spurts, like a water hose tied up and then they just let it go.

Good luck, though! I hope you get one soon!

Interesting topic to say the least... When do you find out the interview date? And how much in advance? And how? Through P4?

Thanks Kayla,
I don't know what I'm gonna do yet... I just want everything to be perfect so I don't worry about nothing... Where did Mathew go for his medical, and how much did it end up being?
And did you hear anything for your visa yet? Did they find it???

CanadaImportant: Need Advice! Please help!

Actually, I would go with what you have - a qualified translator and the documents have been notarized. It is a possibility that at the interview they might decide they want a different translation but I honestly don't think you will have a problem with what you do have already.

Thanks Kathryn41,
Is there anyone that had an interview recently who could give me their advice?
Thanks again!

CanadaImportant: Need Advice! Please help!
Hi everyone,
I need help before I go completely insane here. Here's the situation:
My police certificate and my birth certificate needed to be translated into English. I found a retired translator who did both for me. I then got the documents notarized.
Now, here's the problem. In the P3, it says that any translations needed to be done by a certified translator. Well, mine is certified, but retired, so I don't have a seal from him on those documents. However, he did sign a letter, for each translations, in which he states that he's qualified to do the job.
I'm worried that the consulate won't accept them. Since I have time before my interview, would you guys get them translated by a firm? I mean, I'm trying to make sure all goes well at the interview and make sure that they don't have anything to pick at... I'm worried about that. What would you guys do?
Also, if anyone has the name of a certifed translator in the Montreal area, that'd be great...

Thank you for your help, I'm seriously freaking out about this... :help:

Alright, so I have a very stupid question...
You know when some people write that they haev had their medical and it was approved... Well, how do you find that out if the enveloppe they give you is sealed? Does the doctor tell you everything is alright?
I know a lot of people will be rolling their eyes at me, but I'm just curious...
Thanks for taking the time to answer!

CanadaBirth certificate, certified AND notarized?
Kayla&Mathew had a translation done, it was not certified nor notarized, and she told me that the guy at the interview barely even look at those papers...
I got mine translated by a retired translator, he signed a piece of paper with attention to the consulate, and then I had those notarized, for free (copies and translations). If you want, AandB, I can send you the letter I used for him to sign so you can use the same one or something like it.
Let me know!
Vero and ChrisFemaleCanada2010-04-21 06:42:00
CanadaVisa has been printed, but not mailed.

Okay, well when I got on his website I found out that I actually have to call the office in Somerset, not the one in Pikeville(my city). I also have to complete some kind of privacy release form and send it to them. I'll be working on that part today since I'm fairly sure I'll have to contact his office to get it straightened out.

Gosh!!! I don't know how you do it but you seem so calm!!! I'd be freaking out, probably giving myself a heart attack...
The "good" thing is that at least there's mail tomorrow, you might get it then...Did you guys get a tracking number for the enveloppe you gave the consulate? What does it tell you when you look it up on Canada Post?
Keep up posted and good luck!
I'll be sending good vibes for you tomorrow!
