Canada	Forgot birth certificate at the consulate!	So I was so nervous after I was approved that I think I forgot my birth certificate at the consulate! Do you think it`ll be a problem? Like are they gonna lose my file or something `cause they`re gonna try to send the certificate to me in my enveloppe? (gotta find something to worry about!) I`ll call the governement tomorrow to tell them I lost it and get another one sent to me... I guess you need it for the AOS, right? Would you try e-mailing the consulate or not worry about it? Canada	What exactly do I need to make sure they do at POE?	I wasn't asked for a list, but they did open up all my bags and look through them in secondary. See, I just don`t see how this would work in Montreal, because the luggage drop off is way before I even get to customs... Canada	How did you meet?	On August 23rd, it`ll be the one year anniversary of the death of my fiance`s brother. It was such a rough time, and still is for his family, but I know he is looking down on us, and I`m sure he had a lot to do with this process being so smooth for us. I met Chris through a friend. This friend went on a road trip to Virginia and Georgia to follow a metal band he was fan of. Met Chris at a show, and became friends. Canada	montreal embassy?? taking long?	Sorry to pop on here, but one thing I noticed at the consulate was how many people were there for issues not even remotedly close to immigration. It seems like there was a lot of Americans there doing different business. You would think that the consulate in Ottawa, Quebec city and Toronto could handle some of this, and Montreal could focus on immigrant visas or something... Canada	Tax Transcripts	Do you have the tax transcripts for 2008? I was asked for the 2009 transcript at my interview, but if you have last year's, it will be better than none... When is your interview? If you have time, you could get it sent, it takes about 2 weeks to get... At least you have the W2 for this year. Canada	What's the best time of day to call DOS?	I used to call at around 3:30-4, and I would wait 5-10 minutes on average... He wanted to avoid contacting a congressman unless necessary, said it would probably take a long time as well, but if we don't hear anything tomorrow I will ask him to. I think he looked into it the first week and said there was a form he'd have to fill out to send a request to the senator. Not sure about calling. Yeah, there is a form he needs to fill in and fax back... I was just thinking that if someone if calling Montreal about this it might get the ball rolling for you... Canada	K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!	I can totally see me feeling the same way. If something had gone wrong i would be crushed. It does suck that tomorrow is a Holiday. I'd email them, it's worth a try.. though i did hear they are backlogged on their email much like their mail.. but you might get a quick response. I cant even imagine what you are feeling. I've got my fingers crossed for you for this week! Did Kevin try to call his congressman? I mean, the ambassy is holding your passport, and it's been a week. They told you a week, and even though you shouldn't take what they say for granted, they have your passport, which in my book they should hurry up and send back... With the Visa! Canada	Missing a Document	Mother in law works in an IRS office, there's one in at least each state's major cities. That would be your best option, and you could get it back in time! Canada	SSN - Name Change - Mariage License/Certificate	I had a problem with my name, but it wasn't related to getting my SSN or GC. It was a problem I had with the DMV and their immigration database. I had no issues at all having my name changed on my SSN card. Just one thing to keep in mind- in order to change the name on your SSN after your I-94 expires, they will normally want to see an EAD or a GC. It's not a big deal, but I wouldn't waste my time trying to go down to the SSN office before you receive either one of those two things to have your name changed on the card. Canada	SSN - Name Change - Mariage License/Certificate	i brought my birth certificate, my passport and my marriage licence, that was it..they can connect the dots and thats all they need according to the site. AOS and SSN are two different things, and they have abosolutely nohting to do with each other. what you do with one has no impact on the other. Canada	SSN - Name Change - Mariage License/Certificate	I've been trying to figure out the whole deal with SSNs too, after all the VJ guides say to do it first thing after arriving in the US.. but also that you might have to wait a couple weeks before your name is in their system. I am not going to stress over it, will apply after my wedding with my married name and I should still have several weeks on my I-94. Canada	SSN - Name Change - Mariage License/Certificate	Hello everyone! I have a quick question that I hope you guys know the answer to! I hope this is not too confusing, but I read a while back someone having trouble with their AOS because of their name on either their SSN, their mariage certificate, or the name they applied their AOS with... Does it ring a bell? So I got my SSN number today, and after we receive our mariage certificate back, I will go get a name change done. What I'm wondering is, when I apply for the AOS, I'll apply with my married name right? Should I wait to receive my new SSN card to send off my AOS petition? Will it be a problem if on the mariage certificate, my maiden name is stated rather than my married name? I just want to make sure I don't do something stupid that I could have avoided and then get a RFE... Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, VJ has been a blessing throughout this journey! Canada	plz need opinions	Being denied as a visitor does not affect your visa process, they are two different things. If, at the interview, they ask you if you've ever been denied entry or have had problems visiting the US just be honest. It's not a big deal. As long as you've never overstayed you'll be fine. Canada	August Interviews in Montreal - K1	Hey fellow Vj'ers' We don't have an interview date yet, I would settle at this point for p4! At anyrate when the poe time comes, and it will come, gosh darn it!; We will be driving NB Canada to Maine. We typically cross at the tiny border in Lincoln (close to McAdam) but I am wondering your input on this as it is such a small border...will ther be a long delay, perhaps b/c of their lack doing this kind of paperwork. It entices us because there is never any wait times and the way we always travel. Any thoughts on this? Thanks Much You know, I think that it really doesn't matter where you cross... I'm sure staff move around a lot from border stations to another... You just have to make sure they do what is needed for your AOS after... I posted a question on here, as to what exactly you need to make sure they do at POE... Look it up, I got great answers...
