Thank you for your replies. I'm no longer nervous!!!

Hey Rose416! Did you receive your enveloppe yet?

And I was just reading, and do you guys know if every airport is like that, meaning you bring all your bags with you? I will POE from Montreal most likely...

CanadaCompletely Terrified about Monday
Hugglebuggles,
Haha, no, no street corner for us! Actually our story is pretty simple, I just got freaked out by that dream!

Kathryn41,
You make a lot of sense! Wish I had your down-to-earthness!

I feel better this morning, I realize that I have all the documents they requested, Chris and I did everything by the book, and they`re not out to get me, so I feel like I should be ok! Of course, I might get another panic attack tomorrow morning who knows!

Thanks everyone!

They took my hubby's smokes and lighter and gave him a ticket. On the way out he gave the ticket back and got them back.

Thanks!

Wow, you guys are really making me feel better! It`s all gonna go GREAT! Well, I`m sending good vibes so it does!!!

CanadaCompletely Terrified about Monday
Oh, thank you so much guys! You are the best!
I keep trying to tell myself that I`m ready, and have everything I need documents wise. Chris keeps telling me to relax and that it`ll all be fine. We read reviews together, and when people wrote down 'I was way too stressed for nothing', he'd be like, see I told you!
I know I don`t have anything to hide, I guess I`m just a natural worrier!
Thank you so much, you all have made me feel better! I will definitely let you know how it went Monday afternoon. I live 1 hour and a half away from Montreal, so it should be a short day overall... Gosh, I just want this whole being apart thing to be over!!! I guess I don`t have much longer to go now!
Alright, well knock on wood on Monday for me, and thanks again, you guys are the best!

CanadaCompletely Terrified about Monday
So...
I flew back yesterday, made it back safe and sound... I had the worst nightmare! I dreamed that the consulate officer had hire a private investigator to found out how Chris and I met, and send bouties after me and my family. These two guys showed up at my parents house with machettes and wanted to kill us! Needless to say I wasn`t approved in my dream!!!

So I`m completely scared about Monday, scared of being denied or put in AP and wait another 5 months because Montreal is so slow. I`m terrified of being stuck here and not be able to live with Chris, home where I belong... I feel helpless and it`s driving me insane!

I`m scared they`re gonna say there`s a problem with Chris`pay stubs (he works for a small company, so they don`t have pay stubs, they made copies of his checks), scared they`re gonna say he doesn`t make enough (made 15,000$ last year 'cause he was up here for 6 months, but this year his employer`s letter states 29,000$, and he has 3,500 in savings) and I`m the most terrified about the 'how we met' question. I`m scared I`ll get so nervous that my French will come out and they`ll think I`m lying or something! I have a tendency to mix up the two languages when I`m nervous... BTW, are they expecting a novel of an answer to this question?

So, I need psychological support and help or whatever it is that you guys did to survive and to get approved on the I. Day!!!

CanadaInterview Wednesday...
Hey Alaba!!!

Good luck in advance! But you know what, you`ll be just fine! He`s very realxed, and if you`re prepared -which I`m sure you are- you`ll be laughing at how smooth it really is!!

For that question, put down "do not intend" and then specify "N/A: K-1 visa for permanent residence", just like in the guide.

They did not ask for my X-ray, but if you want to make sure you don`t have anything to worry about, you can bring them... But they give them back to you and tell you you should give them to your family doctor in the U.S.

CanadaDS160 Questions....
Hey!
I remember that question! I freaked out, I was like, what kind of trick question is that! Of course I want to stay forever, I`m getting married!!! I wrote down 3 years, but at the interview, they don`t even ask anything about it or look at it... It`s more of a formality I believe...
And I wrote down Chris as my contact person as well...

Good luck with the rest!

CanadaWaiting for Packet 3 from Montreal Consulate

Hi folks,
I'm new here and am going a little bit crazy. We filed our I-129F a few months ago, and received a notice a month ago from the NVC that our file had been approved and would be sent to the US Consulate in Montreal for processing. I have read that I should expect to receive a "packet 3" from the Consulate here, but I've heard nothing. Is it normal for it to take a month? Who can I call to check on this? I've tried all the numbers, including the ones you pay for, and emailed every address I can find, with no response.
I'm sure these have gotten lost in the mail before.

I would be SO grateful if anyone could actually give me an answer on this!!
THANKS!!

Well first, Welcome!
Alright, so what you want to do is call Department of State (DOS) I don`t know if you know about it already, if you do than skip this! The number is 202-663-1225. Press 1, than 0 and wait until someone picks up. They are open from 8:30 to 5pm except Wednesday when they open at 11:00. You`ll need your Montreal case #, it`s starts with MTL (it should be in your NVC letter). DOS will be able to tell you if Montreal has received your petition from NVC and if your P3 has been sent to you. This is also the number you`ll call to see if your P3 has been logged in by Montreal once you ship it back, and the number where you`ll get your interview date from.
Now with Montreal, I don`t know if you`ve read any other posts, but the consulate is very back logged, so expect a long wait with everything. Also, from what I`ve seen they don`t seem to reply to e-mails quite often if at all. And they do not take phone calls.
Good luck, and stay positive even though it feels like Montreal is taking forever, you`ll get there one day!
:)

CanadaBirth Certificate Question
Some people are asked for evidence of domicile for K1 visas, so you might want to make a copy of his passport info page, his driver`s license and birth certificate, and a copy of a utility bill or credit card bill. I wasn`t ask for any of that at my interview though...
You need your original birth certificate and a copy of it too. Same for your kids.

CanadaI was denied...
NOT!!!

I WAS APPROVED!

So I suffer from the DLTS syndrome (don`t listen to sh*t syndrome). Everyone was right, it was VERY easy and laid back. I was laughing at my myself for being worried for nothing. Oh well... Here`s a quick review:

I got there very early, I was in line at 6:00 am. Met J & her J, she is soooo sweet! She and her fiancee coped with my annoying ranting about being stressed out with grace!
The doors opened at 7:30, when through the security check thing, and waited downstairs for about 5 minutes.
Once upstairs, I waited maybe 20 minutes and then I was called to a booth. I was asked for various documents. I was send to pay the fee, and went back to wait some more. After 30 minutes, I was called again for fingerprints. Went and waited for some more. After 2 hours I was called to another booth, and the same lady reviewed the online 160 form with me. I was sent to wait a little more, and finally, at around 10:30 I was called for my interview.
The gentleman was VERY nice, he looked like Micheal J Fox kinda, and he was very brief, to the point, and before I knew it I was approved! He briefed me on what to do next, and told me I should receive my enveloppe later this week or early next week. I was in my car at 11:10!

I am VERY grateful to everyone who has been supportive, you know who you are, thank you for the kind words and the reassurance, I could have NEVER done it without the VJ community. Thank you again, I love everyone right now!!! :energy:

CanadaFew questions before sending packet 3 docs to Montreal

Thanks for the suggestions from all of you.

I still don't know how I'd go back and print out the entire form, since it's already submitted. I only saw the option of printing the confirmation receipt. Oh well, do you think it's gonna be a big deal? I mean after all, it DID say on the confirmation receipt that the form was submitted, so it's not like they don't have it there somewhere. lol

And I think I WILL send it in a brown envelope, with the consulate address and my case number on it, inside an expresspost envelope (or whatever they call it here in the States). Then I'll send it off to someone in Canada and have them put the brown envelope into an expresspost and address it and send it off. Seems like such a hassle, and adds time to our journey of course, but I don't want to mess things up by sending it directly from the U.S.

Or maybe I should email Montreal and ask them if I could mail from the U.S.? Anybody have that email address handy, by the way? I know I have it somewhere but I'm lazy this morning. :P

E-mailing Montreal and waiting for a response, THAT would add time to your journey! They don`t respond to e-mail unless it`s something major! Plus, when you send them an e-mail, you get an automated e-mail back saying to not expect an answer before two weeks... Just mail it off to a relative and get it over with, way quicker...

CanadaFew questions before sending packet 3 docs to Montreal
Hi Erin G.
Well, I printed out the entire thing twice, by asking for 2 copies in the printer pop-up screen. You do not need it at the interview though. I had brought the copy and the confirmation page, and was asked for neither.
I had a copy of the I-129F, and every notices ever received, and was asked for none.
When I mailed my P3, I used Xpress post so I could track the enveloppe down (don`t ask for a signature though), and you mail it to the adress written on your P3 letter. I would also send it to a relative and ask them to mail it for you.
I had written a cover letter to send my P3, here it is:

April 12th 2010

The Consulate General of the United States of America
Attention: Immigrant Visa Unit
U.S Consulate Montréal
P.O. Box 65, Station Desjardins
Montréal, Qc

CanadaSwitch from Montreal to Vancouver?
I think the only way this would work is if you had a residence there. For example, if you had a family member that lived there, you could let NVC or something know that you have moved and haev your file transfered. I don`t know exactly how this part would work, you might want someone else to chip in on this, but I guess it could work. I know your adress there can`t be a p.o. box, but an actual adress.
I tought of doing that as well when I realized how long it would take, but I decided not to and go with the flow. It is a long wait and depending of your situation it could be an option, but now that I`m done with it, I`m glad I didn`t switch. It`s up to you I guess!
Good luck!

CanadaPolice Certificate older than 12 months

Thank you very much "Vero and Chris" and "Colleens". I have sent a current (10 days old) Canadian Police certificate with the 15 months old Australian one, and I had no problem at NVC. Now it is the turn at Montreal. I know that the new one is better but it is very hassle to order an Australian Police Certificate. So if it is unnecessary I should use the old one I already have. I need to ask someone in Australia to help me order it since I need a money order in Australian Dollar for the payment and this money order cannot be bought in Canada.

Well, you can go on the Australia forum, maybe you`ll find help there too...

CanadaPolice Certificate older than 12 months
Well, I applied for a different visa, but in my interview letter, they requested a police certificate issued within one year of the interview date. So after February of 2009, did you live in Canada? If so, get a canadian police certificate, and you`ll be covered.
Hope this helps!

CanadaWhen can I start worrying?
Hi...
So J&J and I had our interview on the same day, and she got a hit on her enveloppe while checking the Canada Post website... I haven`t got anything yet... When is it 'normal' to start worrying about Montreal having lost, forgotten, used as fire starter my enveloppe with my visa?

And can DOS inform you of anything? Like when it was shipped and such?

Canadamedical results in Montreal
Hi jken,
I went through Medysis as well, and when I was there, I picked up the results of another VJ member because they do not mail them out. She had to mail me a letter authorizing me picking up her results...
Call them, but unless they`ve changed their procedures, you might want to make another appointment and pick them up early in the morning before your interview (they open at 7:30 I think)
Good luck!

CanadaForgot birth certificate at the consulate!

Vero and Chris- Congrats about being approved! And thanks for posting about that on VJ...
See, all that worrying about nothing....We on VJ knew you were going to get approved anyways...;)
As for the birth certificate....
Personally, if I were you, I would follow-up about it....
If they don't need the original copy of it anymore, then why should they have it?
After all, it is yours and you shouldn't have to go through the government (and waste extra money and time there) to get a replacement just because the consulate has it and can give it back to you if you ask for such....
And yes, your birth certificate is needed for the AOS, and for other things in the USA too..(SSA, DMV, etc....)
So make sure you have an orignal/certified/government sealed copy of such, before you leave Canada..
Heck, you should get extra copies too, in case something like this ever happens again and/or you ever need extra copies..
Might as well do it now while you are in Canada, than have to worry about getting extra copies while you are in the USA...
On the bright side, at least yours is a Canadian birth certificate...That should be relatively easy to get within Canada, in case you need a replacement and/or extra copies....
Mine on the other hand...I can't get another copy, in my lifetime, even if I wanted to. (but that's another story...lol...).

Rule of thumb: Never let the USCIS (or any other government agency) keep your original documents....You'll never see these original documents again!...
They can have all the copies that they want...But never can they keep originals!...
Just a thought....

Nevertheless, congrats again, good luck in getting your birth certificate, and good luck with the rest of your journey too.

Ant

Thanks Ant!
I just ordered another birth certificate online, and it should be here in 12 business days... At least that`s done! I would think they`d sent it with the enveloppe if they found it on time, but I certainly don`t want them to delay sending me the enveloppe with my visa for that! We`ll see I guess!

I left them originals, and they sent it back to me on the outside of the do not open envelope, along with my passport. You may get lucky.

Oh, ok! Did you happen to forget them or did you leave them there? I think I forgot mine in the interview room...

 So I was so nervous after I was approved that I think I forgot my birth certificate at the consulate! Do you think it`ll be a problem? Like are they gonna lose my file or something `cause they`re gonna try to send the certificate to me in my enveloppe? (gotta find something to worry about!)
I`ll call the governement tomorrow to tell them I lost it and get another one sent to me... I guess you need it for the AOS, right?
Would you try e-mailing the consulate or not worry about it?
