Yeah I'm learning towards citizenship...as far as I've seen we are able to keep multiple citizenships...I know a few Canadians who have both.

I've heard that too... I'll make sure I confirm that before I make a decision, but I guess when we remove our conditions, we'll be issued a 10-years green card, so that's a lot of time to think about it and research it... The testing part makes me nervous though, I mean, what happens if you fail the test???

Anyways, I hope everyone is settling in well in the US! I'm doing a lot better, I'm actually able to say that I'm happy now! There's just a lot of family issues back home, and I wish I was there to help, listen and council, but it is what it is... My mom told me on the phone this evening that she missed me and missed talking to me when she wants to... It made me sad, I hate being this far from her, you know?

But eh, apart from that, things are way better now!!!

Yeah, I don't know yet what I'll do... I guess I don't mind renewing my green card, but at the same time, how easy would it be to just go ahead and have both citizenship, you know? Saves a lot of money too...

I have a bunch of questions in my head about the whole process, and when I have time, maybe this weekend or next week, I'm thinking of posting them on here, and see what the deal is...

But you guys are sure that we can keep our Canadian citizenship when we apply and get our US citizenship?

Hey everyone!
Wow, I'm so busy during the week that I don't have time to come on here anymore! I feel bad! Hahaha!

Things are good, aren't they? Remember that in about two weeks, it'll be a year ago that we were all desperate to move here with our loved ones. It's crazy to think about how far we've come. I know I'm amazed by all the chances that have happened in my life, good and bad. I feel complete now, I feel like this is where I was meant to be, and even though it wasn't all nice and peachy for a while, gosh it's worth it now!!!

I'm glad to hear from you guys, Brenda2010 and Wishing! And the crazy thing Wishing, is that we got the EXACT same car!!!! We love it too!!! What color is yours???

Alaba, congrats on getting your green card in the mail! Gosh, we're all done! What are we gonna do now? Well, I'm not trying to get all sentimental here, but I need you all to know that if I didn't have this crew to get me through the bad and good times, I don't think I could have made it. And I'm not exaggerating. It's not like my family and friends could relate, and knowing people that were doing the exact same thing as I was doing it, made it feel more human in several ways. I love you guys! :lol:

Well, let's keep in touch, and you guys can be sure that I will pop on here regularly, and I'll be ready in August 2012 (that's right, right?) for our removal of conditions! That might be too early, but a lot of us actually will need to start that process at that time!

Just wanted to bump this thread so it doesn't get lost on us I was talking to a friend of mine who just had a baby. She moved to the U.S. and got married applied for AOS got approved and has her 2 year conditional green card. She is planning on moving to another state so I reminded her not to forget to let immigration know about her move. She then tells me that in a year when she removes her conditions she has to go for another interview because they were suspicious of her marriage being so fast. I didn't think that when you had your conditions removed that you had to go for another interview. Is this true for everyone or is she just a special case or is she misinformed? Just wondering.

I think interviews are possible throughout the entire process. I don't think it necessarily means they are suspicious of your case, they probably have quotas to meet and what not. I hope I don't get one then, I already had two so far, I feel like we've proved enough! We'll see when we get there I guess... :wacko:

Got a new car this weekend! Woohoo! 0% financing with Mazda! I'm pretty excited! It's a stick though, so I have to practice before I can take it to work!

I'm not looking for work. Stay at home mommy here Summer is going great. My nieces are here visiting right now. My sister, brother in-law and nephew will be here on the 18th. We plan on going to visit Canada in Oct. for thanksgiving.

Hey everyone,

First, happy Canada day/Independence day! Did you guys have anything special planned? Not much here, we let off some fireworks we got last year in South Carolina! They were huge! The whole neighborhood was jealous! Our dog wasn't a big fan though, he kept barking and whining, poor thing!

Best of luck Alaba, and don't worry, it'll all be just fine! It's just procedures at this point. Let us know how it goes when you get a chance! You're the last one of us to go through this! I can't wait! What are we gonna do when all this is over?!? :blink:

Chris had a car accident last week and pretty much totaled his car... So we're shopping for one now, which su***... We know what we want, so that part is OK, but Chris and I are starting in life, and even though we pay our bills, we don't have a lot of credit history. So Honda was willing to give us a 10.34% rate over 5 years! No thank you!!! In a way, I'm glad this is happening because now we realize that we need to buy a car so we have some payment history in order to get a house... We could just pay a used car cash, but what good is that gonna do? It's kind of frustrating, but at least it happened now, not 3 months ago when I didn't have a job... At least Chris is Ok, apart from some back pain. He was very lucky! You should see the car! :innocent:

Work is going well, but gosh, I miss my lazy days!!! It's very busy, and it sure makes the days go by quick! But I forgot how it is to come back home at around 6, have 3-4 hours before having to go to bed... I miss Chris a lot during the day, it's weird! But that's life! And at least now we have two pay checks coming in!

Yep, the SSN thing is very true, and do not wait for your marriage certificate to get it. It doesn't take that long to get, but that varies from state to state. And then doing the name change is not hard and very quick as well...
The AOS is not that bad, it's just a lot of paper work. Start looking at it right now, it'll save you some time when it's time to fill them... That's what I did, and it helped a lot...

I don't think we're nuts actually... We would be if we hadn't kept in touch and helped each other out... I know I would!!! :lol:

couldnt agree more,,,more waiting, waiting, and then more still..at lease our count down has reached 39 days till the interview...I keep telling my fiance that if we survive this, we can survive anything..so kudo's to you for your fortitude..you miss Canada, I know I will miss Timmies coffee...

thanks for that...so long way to go yet..oh boy so what has been the most stressful part up to the point you reached? I have to say mine was the RFE that took way to long to get to us, so created such a long delay...what has yours been? or would you rather not even think of all the past stresses, which I want to forget about too, too much to look forward to

For me, it was the lack of control. Not knowing WHEN our interview would be and having to wait, and wait and wait... It wasn't as bad with the green card, but it was still very stressful, not knowing if we'd have an interview, not knowing if we'd get a RFE... All in all, it was very smooth, but even though people say 'don't worry it'll be fine' (and I'm totally one of those), you'll still stress out and will still be anxious...
Just believe in your relationship and in your future, because after all, that's all that matters!

Oh, and enjoy your time in Canada because you'll miss it in less than 3 months!!! :lol:

Hey everyone! Sorry for the late reply and not keeping up, but gosh, I get home at 6:00pm, and I'm drained!!! Hahaha, I guess it's a good thing! But, eh, enjoy your time off because it's hard getting back into the whole working schedule!!!

I don't keep my green card on me even though it's the law... Seriously, if I were to lose my wallet, or get stolen, it would be too much of mess! And what are the chances of actually being asked for it, especially if you can show your state driver's license, you know?
Yep, no need for the EAD/AP card now that you have your green card... At the interview, they usually take them back from you...
And whatever you will be using as an ID to get across Canada, that's what you need to book your flight with... We flew to Boston and then crossed the border by car, and I just went ahead and booked the flight with my passport... It's a personal choice really...

Well, that's all folks, gotta go eat and sleep! Work hard and play hard, right? :lol:

Yeah we bought plane tickets for my nieces to come visit on July 3rd and they were expensive. Part of why we won't have the money to go visit. If we hadn't already bought the tickets for the girls to come down then I probably would have been able to visit sooner. Oh well I guess this is just how it is meant to be It is just nice knowing that we can visit if we want to, that I am no longer stuck here in the U.S. with no possibility to visit home. Hmm guess I need to stop calling Canada home and start calling Georgia home lol Gonna take a while to get used to that. We will be driving the 12 hours to visit Canada when we go in Oct. three plane tickets will be more then what we will pay in gas.

Hahaha, I wouldn't worry about it, I've come to the conclusion that I'll never be able to call this home! Temporary home, ok, but Canada will always be my home :lol:

OH good I'm glad that it's normal for it to do that. Thanks J&J and Vero I am very happy that my card will be here soon. Due to finances we won't be visiting Canada until Oct. for thanksgiving. I know some people in my family won't like waiting that long to see us but I am not going to struggle to find money just to visit sooner then Oct. They will just have to try to understand that Immigration has drained our bank account lol

Gosh, so true! It's quite expensive to go back and visit... We'll definitely rent a car and drive up next time, flying is too expensive these days... :wacko:

I hate having nerves, lol, I haven't felt nerves like this since the interiew in Montreal... but i know it will all work out.

I saw alot of chat about ticks and bugs, while i was in St. Croix i got bit by a Centipede, and they are not like the centipedes in Canada, they are huge and have poisonous. Hurt for 10 hours straight. Make sure you all check your cover before sleeping if you ever come to the carribean.

WHAT? Centipede??? Oh my gosh, that's just nasty.... I probably would have had a heart attack or something...

Don't worry about the interview, I know I know, look who's talking, but if anything, it was less stressful than the K-1 interview. And your wife will be there, which helps a lot! You'll be fine and dandy, just make sure you have all your documents ready and organized!
