I'm surprised how much less stuff we were asked to provide at the interview versus what others have reported here. Our interview: Are you a terrorist? Can you show me something with your US address on it? APPROVED! Wasn't asked for pictures or originals of anything, although I had sent in an original marrage cert with the application. Thanks nickbits... I wonder what I should do? I was thinking of getting Chris' boss to sign another letter, and bring the latest statement from his savings account. What do you think? Canada	August Interviews Crew - AOS Journey	Good morning crew! How is everyone doing? How was your weekend? Did you guys watch the Superbowl? We didn't, we started watching Mad Men and we're getting the disks through Netflix; we're hooked! We got our tax refund on Friday, so we did a lot of shopping this weekend and got a flat screen TV. Gosh, everything looks so much better! Anyways, just looking at our list and did you guys send your AOS package, mandaNchris, Alaba and Brenda2010? Let me know when you do or did so I can update our list! Rose416, hope everything goes well during your interview today! Let us know when you get a chance!!! On that same note, here's a list of what I have so far for my interview. I haven't received the letter in the mail yet, but could those of you who have had their interview look at it and tell me if I'm missing anything? Here's what I have: - Medical form from K-1 visa (vaccination sheet and receipt) - All proofs I had gathered for the K-1 - Letter from the bank and last statement showing both our names - Pictures since we got married, every card we received at the reception - Flight information for our trip in May with the entire family - Our ring tatoos (didn't get wedding rings/bands, we had our initials tatooed on our ring fingers instead) And here's what I don't know if I'll have in time for the interview: - Tax transcripts for 2010 (just sent them the form this morning...) - Confirmation page that states that I am the beneficiary for Chris' life insurance through his 401K And do we need our birth certificate at the interview? Justin is going to school in AZ though so I should probably do it before because I need to work full time there. Yep, Spanish in Arizona is probably a very good idea! Canada	August Interviews Crew - AOS Journey	Hi back Rose416, Gosh, reading you felt like I was reading myself! Same case here, no health insurance still. I don't see why that would be a problem, I mean, it's not a proof that we're not in a relatioship, just that it's too expensive right now! If they ask, just say that you are waiting to find work and either get coverage throuh them or buy your own. That's what I'm doing. We're saving to buy a house, and 400$ a month to cover me would put a big dent in our budget... Especially with me not working still... I am thinking of going back to school as well! I have to get all my documents translated before I can even try to get my credentials for my teaching degree, and it's gonna be real expensive... I'm thinking of taking Spanish, can't hurt! As for your taxes, you could get a real nice chunk of money back if you file married jointly... We did, but it was a real pain to file though... There's a thread I started because I was about to go insane, a lot of people replied and I got a lot of good advise, check it out, it might help you guys. It's called "Thread on VJ and IRS website didn't help" or something like that... It's in the Canada forum. Valerie78, congratulations! Make sure you have a cover letter (if you need one, let me know, I can e-mail you mine), make sure you have copies of everything... There is no need for proofs like with the K1, so it's basically just the forms with whatever you need to attach with them... The cover letter I used lists all that was included in the package... Canada	August Interviews Crew - AOS Journey	Update on the tax question: Alright, I called the IRS to ask questions about what to do with the tax returns, and here's what I found out - While waiting for the Green card, we are 'nonresident aliens' - You may file married seperately, and in this case, if you have no US income whatsoever and have not paid anything to the IRS you are NOT require to file taxes - If you file married jointly and your joint income is higher than 18,000$, you are required to file. If you choose this option, you need to write a statement that both of you will sign in which you state that you are "taking election to be treated as a resident". This may seem obvious to some of you guys, but man I was at lost with all this! And you don't need to put a copy of your T4 to prove your canadian income or anything...Which is kinda weird, I mean, how will they be able to verify the amount is correct? Hope this helps! Canada	August Interviews Crew - AOS Journey	Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Our big dinner was a success, everything was delicious. Enjoyed plenty of wine and tequila I always put up my decorations around the 1st of Dec but once Christmas is over I like to see them go haha... so today we took down the decorations. 6 more days until the honeymoon... yipee. Hopefully I will come back to some movement on my AOS. Have a safe trip! Glad it all went well! Merry belated Christmas everyone! Have a happy New Year too, I'll have a toast for ya'll!
