Is it important to send a copy of my w2 forms
or just a copy of my tax return that i got from IRS

you just need the tax transcibt it is much shorter and easier there is a 1800 number and they will will mail to you in 2 days free charge lol

That is fast. I thought you had to fill out a form to get the tax transcripts.

I included 2008 copy of return and W2, and the same for my 2007.

In addition I sent in my employment letter, paystubs, and savings account information.

Is this suffice? Do I still need to send the tax transcripts to my fiance?

If you sent the Tax returns and W2's then you wouldn't need to send the tax transcripts too.. I sent the tax transcripts, so didn't send the W2's and tax returns. If you are unsure, it will only take you a few days to get the tax transcripts. I can't remember the phone # for this, but it's somewhere here on VJ. It's an automated system.. request what you need and they will have it to you in just a few days.

It is important to send both W2s and Tax returns...at least from last two years.
Good Luck! smile.gif

If you get the Tax Transcripts, from the IRS, I believe you don't need to send the W2. Please, someone, correct me if I am wrong. I am getting ready to send all my stuff to Turkey and only plan on including the IRS Tax Transcripts.

There is actually a Fortis Bank located very close to the Consulate. I am assuming you will go to Ankara at least one day before your interview. You should be able to find Fortis easy enough. They are many in Ankara.

I will ask Fuat, but I do not think you need to take anything to the bank with you. I think you just tell them you need to pay the visa fee and they will know what to do. He has done this, twice, when he applied for visitor visa.. and he didn't have anything to show them. Just gave them the money.

Good luck with your interview!! We filed in September also, and have just sent packet # 3 to Ankara. We're hoping for a February interview date too!!

But I think maybe some of your dates are wrong in your timeline? Your message says you started the process in September, but your time line shows you started in July.. and then it looks like your package was received at the consulate before it was at NVC. Maybe I just need more coffee this early in the morning, or your dates are mixed up in your time line and in your signature.

Did you send to USCIS in July or September?

Looking at it again, it also shows that your package was at the Consualte before you got NOA2. I think you need to correct some of the dates in your time line and in your signature smile.gif

But still.. congratulations on getting an interview date!!

I called the NVC this morning and they said that they received my file from USCIS on 10/28/09.

My current status is "additional processing".

Is this status normal considering they just received it 1 day ago?

I am just hoping its not the AP that everyone fears.

Thanks

Mine arrived on Friday 10/23. I called on Monday, 10/26 and was told I was in AP.. it was sent to the consulate on Tuesday, 10/27

I think they tell everyone this.. don't stress about it too much unless you are at NVC more than one week.

Hello Everyone,

I'm glad to say my package has been sent from NVC to the embassy, in my case to Bogota.

I was reading and I haven't ready anyone suggesting to call the NVC to check the status on their file. In some cases, perhaps many cases, there is a process known as ADMINISTRTIVE PROCESSING. If you get locked into this category you can be delayed days, weeks, or even months. On average I have seen it be about 45 days.

If you have already received your NOA2 form in the mail.. don't wait, call the NVC at 1-603-334-0700.
Ask them
1) What is the status of my file?
2) Is it in Administrative processing?

If they say they have already sent it, ask them for the new case number, and when it was sent.

If they said it was sent, then you can goto the DHL website, DHL.com, and look and verify it WAS sent. They won't give you a tracking number per say but now you can type the following into the website.

Example: It was sent yesterday, October 27, 2009.

Goto DHL.com -> Track-> Track by REFERENCES

put in the following: EXP 27 OCT 2009A (note, exactly as I have put it, with spaces and all)

at this point, maybe 50 cases will pull up... look for your country of desigation, if you found it... or maybe found a couple.. at least u know u have a good shot that it was sent.

Good luck!

David.

P.s.

On monday they told me I was in Administrative Processing.... I freaked out.. by Wednesday.. they told me it was sent to the embassy. So, if you find yourself in that process.. just breath and hope for the best.

-David

Sir David
can i call to NVC? i mean either of the two can call to NVC?
i dont mind to call even its long distance for me
and what are those question they gonna ask ?

I believe either the beneficiary or the petitioner can call. First, they will ask you the case number assigned by the USCIS (which I believe if your a k1-filer is begins with EAC.... but i'm not positive thats it for every case). Next, they will ask you for the names and birthdates of both the beneficiary and the petitioner, so just have those ready to answer.

Try calling early morning, i believe you can call as early as 7:30am EST.... you'll wait like 2 minutes. If you call after 12:00pm.. you'll wait like 10-15-20 minutes from my experience.

If they tell you the file has been received, but hasn't been sent to the embassy be sure to ask why.

-David

p.s. Be sure to fill out your timeline information in the VJ time system, you can access it at the following link: http://www.visajourn...eline/intro.php

Sir David

i just called NVC , omg , it took few minutes coz all operators are busy , but anyway the operator that i talked so nice and very polite , i ask her what is the status of our application , she mention the date they sent forward to my country but the thing i forgot to follow up is to ask our new case number

quest : can i call again and ask to them our new case number?

and i did ask to the operator that my fiancee (petitioner) havent receive any hard copy noticed from them
hmmmmm she said dont worry anyway they have our email so they can sent to our email , would it be possible too?

another quest:
when i checked DHL as the date she told me
i found out theres one for our country
do u think that is ours documents ?

thank you- sorry if my grammar are not good same with my english

Yes.. you can call again and get the case number. I called several times in one day and got a different person each time!

Other people have said they got a hard copy of the notice from NVC, but I asked NVC about this yesterday and was told they don't send one. I have not gotten a hard copy.. so I don't know, but some people have.

On one of the days I called NVC, I was told I would get an email when it was sent to the consulate. It was sent 3 days ago, but I have not gotten an email from them either.

The one you found on DHL could be yours.. you should also look to see if there was one sent to your consulate on the day AFTER NVC told you they sent it. Some of us have found ours listed on the day after.

For example, if they told you it was mailed on 9/27 look to see if a package went to you consulate on 9/28.. that could be yours.

It's hard to tell which package is really yours.. you just have to guess.

Hi Everyone,

Just thougth I would stop in and say hi and see how everyone is. My last chemo session was this past Friday.

That's the plan anyway. I will have a CT scan on October 1 and if all looks good then we will proceed as planned with just a few scans a year. If it doens't look good then it's back to the chemo cocktails.

I must say NO to that.. stick with the plan.

Our fall is pretty busy with business trips to Phillipines and Singapore ( as long as I am cleared to travel) and then a trip home to Istanbul the week before Thanksgiving. We want to go for Bayram... and then trips to Detroit and Vegas to see my mom and dad at Christmas and New years.

I just have no time for Chemo :):)

Fuat is adjusting as best he can, but it's hard with a wife who can't do much three weeks out of the month. Once this chemo stuff is all over I am praying things get better.

I really hope Hamit finds something soon.. though the ESL classes will probably help.

WIshing you all the best.

Hi All!

I am new here. I hope I can help you guys and I can get some advices!

I am Turkish and My husband is American. My husband has been in Turkey for 6 months. We will send all the papers this Tuesday to Ankara (DCF). Before we send it I have a couple questions.

My husband never got the residince permisson! He went to Cyprus every 3 months and renew his visa. When we called the consulate they said it's no problem as long as he has the entries and exits on his passport. We didn't get any resident visa for him because I talked to a few people they told me If he gets it then the consulate causes a lot of problems (like they tell him to go back to the US by himself and prove his resident there) so he only has the tourist visa. Do you guys think it will be a problem?

Also I didn't see anywhere in the form If we need a cover letter but here everybody says they wrote one. Do we need one?

When we pay the 355$ at Fortis bank(Cashier's check) are we gonna say it is for immigrant visa? does my husband (American) or do I have to get the check?

We will send it this week and one of my friends said that it takes for 8 months! is this true? I thought it takes for 3 months.

Thanks for all the answers :)

Hi.. sorry no one has responded to you yet. I don't know much about DCF... We went the K1 route. It took 5 months from the day we mailed in the application to the day of our interview.

The great news is that we got approved for Permanent Residency yesterday and we are now done with this whole mess for two years. Just thought I would drop in and let everyone know where we were at with things. Hope all is well with everyone.

ahhh spying eh :):) Well that's what the blog is there for. I've been meaning to post pics of the GI Jenn bald head, but was pretty ill last week and couldn't get them done. Maybe this week.

I hope the job search goes well. Wish we had an amusement park near you that I could send him to. We are always hiring.... I worked as an office cleaner several years ago and it can be a pretty good job, pay well, etc. Except for the fact the hours are in the evening. But I liked it.

Fuat is finally getting to the point where he will order his own food and drinks in a restaurant.. and his English is perfect. I guess it just takes time to get over the fear of making a mistake or not understanding someone.

Good luck with the other jobs. I look fowarding to hearing he found something he really likes.

Hey Jenn. We registered our marriage in Turkey through the embassy in Los Angeles. My wife downloaded a couple of forms and filled them out, took them in, and paid some fees. I'm not sure exactly how it broke down because we were doing several things at once, but I can ask her later. I applied for Turkish citizenship even though I won't qualify until next year. They accepted the form anyway. We also filled out a form to renew my wife's passport. I'm pretty sure we paid fees for all three of those things, but paid them as a lump sum.

(I just now called my wife and she thinks it was 10 dollars to file the application to register our marriage. She said it's more if you get the book, but we didn't do that one. She also said you can do all of those things by mail. Just go to the embassy website and download the forms.)

Hope that was sort of helpful :)

Also, it was easy dealing with the embassy. It was like a normal office building just outside of Beverly Hills. No long lines or anything, but they were only open like 3 hours a day!

Thanks! We were looking on the Embassy webpage, for the Embassy here in Washington DC and couldn't find any information at all. I will go back and look again and see if we can find some forms. I even tried calling the Embassy, but couldn't get through to a live person. At least I know it's possible and the information is there somewhere. We'll keep looking!!

OH.. had another question too..

Have any of you registered your marriage in Turkey, but done it here? We were looking on the Turkish Embassy Webpage, to see if there was any way we could register our marriage in Turkey, but do it here in the U.S. and couldn't find any info on it. Do we have to wait until we go back to Turkey to register our marriage there and have me added to their family register?

I know the law used to be that women would automatically get Turkish Citizenship if they married a Turkish man ( Men had to wait three years).. but hear this may have changed recently. Does anyone know about this? I plan on dual citizinship if this is still a possiblity.

Hi everybody!

I hope everyone is doing well!I just wanted to say that I received my GC today !!!

what a relief! bye bye USCIS till 2012 !:)

Hi and CONGRATS!!

I just thought I would drop in and say hello.. haven't been on in a while. Wanted to let everyone know I am feeling pretty good. Healing from my surgery and getting over the effects of the first round of chemo. Things are good right now. Hoping the second round goes as smoothly.

We had our biometrics yesterday. Keeping our fingers crossed we don't get a letter, like Pel, saying they need to be redone :) When we got home, we had a letter from USCIS saying our case had been transferred to the California Service Center and we would be notified of the decision by mail. I am assuming this means we do not have to go for an interview :) Nice.. very nice.. since I am not supposed to travel right now and had to plead with my doctor to let me go to the Biometrics appointment.

Wondering if we need to send them anything else? The letter didn't say they needed anything, but I had always read that we needed to be able to show joint bank accounts, utility bills in both our names, etc. I have everythign ready.. but now it looks like they aren't asking for it.

So, for those of you who had your cases transferred and didn't have an interview.. what's next. We get a decision letter in the mail and that's it?? Should I be getting anything else prepared?

Hope everyone is well.. and now that I am feeling better I hope to be here more often.

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would drop in to say hello and give you a brief update. Surgery was two weeks ago and went well... ended up taking out several organs, but appears they got all the cancer. Still doing chemo to be sure, and that will start on Thursday. Fun, Fun...

My mood has been good and Fuat has been an absolute angel. If he didn't know how to cook, clean or do laundry before he came he does now :)

It will be a few more weeks before I can return to work and just now able to start doing small things around the house.

Nicole and Efe... congrats on the NOA2.

Mindi.... hope things are working out. If all goes well, we should be coming to Michigan in July. Would still like to try to get together.

Hope everyone is well!!

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to drop in and let you know what's going on. Deb... as you will soon see, it has been way to busy for me to send you a PM and I apologize.

First, Fuat and I are doing well as far as his adjustment to the country is concerned. The last few weeks had one much better and we were finally settling into a routine.

But, I have some bad news I wanted to share. Last week, I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. I'm still in a little shock, and I can't believe Fuat is going to have to go through all this after everything we;ve done to try to be together. It just doesn't seem fair that we fought to be together for two years... he's here less than a month and then THIS.

I won't give a lot of depressing informaiton here, but if anyone wanted to keep tabs on what's happening I have a web site you can check.

It's www.kast2006.com

This is the web page we used for my sister, when she was diagnosed with Leukemia. We'll use it now to update people on me. I warn you.. the picture of me on the page is pretty darn funny and was taken when we were teenagers ( love my 1980's glasses :) ) but it's a great way for people to keep updated on me.

Now, I need to try to get everythign done for AOS, and mailed in, before I go into surgery on Friday. I am hoping we can get through all this without an interview, since I won't be able to travel for at least 6-8 weeks.. but I know that may not be possible.

I know he can stay in the country, but I am going to need him to be able to work ( and there is a job for him at my company).. so I NEED that AOS. Keep us in your prayers. Insallah this will all go well and we can start getting back to normal soon.

Take care,

Deb, now that the PM system is working again I will try to send you a message later today. It's been crazy around here, but I am leaving for NYC in two days.. can't believe this is actually going to happen :)

One of my friends in the September K1 thread went to Social Security the other day and they told her Fiance he did not need to apply for a Soc. # because he will automatically get one. Something about that little question on one of the forms that asks if you want to apply for one ( don't remember which form that was on). I remember asking about that question, in another forum, when I was filling out Fuat's forms and someone said that we had to answer it.. but K1's do not get the Soc. # automatically. Some other visa types do. I am pretty sure the person at her SSA office was wrong... and he will not get his SS# automatically. We've told her to have him go back, but I thought I would check with all of you.

On another note, I hope David and Melek had good luck today. They waited a year from the point of going to NVC to their interview. Hopefully they received good news today and there were no more problems.

Hello from Istanbul :D

Just got in a few hours ago and waiting for Fuat to get off work. I can't believe our interview is actually in four days! We'll leave for Ankara on Sunday, and will sight see in the city the day before the interview.. then head back here, on Tuesday, right after the interview. I hope the interview goes well.. otherwise, it's going to be one heck of a long, depressing bus ride back to Istanbul.... but I am keeping my hopes up we won't end up in AP ( though that seems to be the trend lately).

I'll be sure to post on Tuesday and let you know what happened!

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted. Ramazan came here in June and things have been going well, with the expected bumps along the way. We've applied for AOS and are still waiting. Anyway, here is our latest issue:

His passport expires in March. We sent it to the Turkish consulate in Chicago for renewal. The problem is his military deferrment expired in October. The consulate general told my husband that he must provide the Employment Authorization (of which we are still waiting to receive) and that he must start working, but they'll give my husband 6 more months to get a job. If he is here in the U.S legally, why does it matter that he has a job in order to renew his passport??? He came on a spouse visa, not a work visa. He is legally living here and is adjusting status (we provided the USCIS AOS and EAD recipts), so why must he show that he is working in order to defer military again?! So, if he gets is EAD, but can't find employment until after 7 months (you never know with the job situations here right now), they'll flat out refuse to renew his passport?!

Yes, we are kicking ourselves for not renewing BEFORE he came.....:)

Anyone ever have to deal with one of the Turkish consulates here in the States?
Deanna

I've dealt with the embassy in Washington DC, but not for something like this. It was about the work visa for one of my summer employees...They were not very friendly, but the employee was in jail at the time and they did not think our company was doing enough to help this person. Not much we can do when no bail bondsman will agree to take the case... anyway, you could try to contact the Embassy. They were easy to reach, though my experience with them was not that great.

This just doesn't sound right? Hoping someone will chime in with some information.

there is one place I know that you can go to to print out pictures.I went there before I sent my package 3 and it took me like 15 min to get the pics.it is in ' besiktas'.(in istanbul)the name of the place is "NECDET OZALIT" I will write how to get there in turkish so you can have fuat read this.:)I am pretty sure he will easily find it.u can either burn a cd or put the pics on a flash drive.I don't know if u can just take your camera there but you can always call and ask.

" besiktas'ta eski tansas'in oldugu yerin arka tarafinda.hatta orda otobus duraklari var.otobus duraklarinin arkasinda kalan cadde ustunde hemen.NECDET OZALIT.259 87 11 - 259 07 06 - 227 92 02 telefon numaralari da bunlar."

Thanks :) I will have to have him check to see if they are open on Sundays. I get there on a Friday, but we will leave on Sunday afternoon to go to Ankara. He's never been there, so we are going to go two days before our interview. It's kind of funny that I am going to get to show around him HIS capital :)

I will have to try to take as many pics as we can, by Sunday morning, and then print them. I have a friend in Ankara who may be able to tell me where to get more printed there.

16 days.. I can't believe it's actually getting close!

I think you have good amount of proof jen. when the officer asked me when was the last time I saw my back then fiance, I said ''2 days ago'' and she was like " why didn't he come with you ? " since you will go to the interview with him, you will be the biggest proof of your bona fide relationship! :)

I don't know if you will have time but you might try to take some pics before you guys go to the interview :)

OK.. I am going to reorganize everything and separate the stuff they already have then. It will give me something to do this afternoon, since I am snowed in and won't be leaving the house this afternoon:)

We will have 4 days together, before the interview, so we could take pictures. I usually just take my camera card to Walmart and print them out on one of those instant machines. Any idea where I might find something like this in Istanbul or Ankara? What would be the easiest way to get them printed quickly there?

I also have every picture labeled with the month/year and where we were. I wouldn't be able to label the new ones, unless I made up labels ahead of time and just made sure we took pictures that matched the labels :)

Definitely do-able if there is an easy way for me to get the pictures printed quickly. I'll ask Fuat about this, but if you know a place please let me know!

Thanks for the info.

I don't think I have ever been more thankful for this site than right now. VJ was great with helping with the paperwork, but to actually be able to get information from people who have already been through the Embassy is invaluable. Thank you to everyone who has given me advise.

Pel, your post makes me wonder if I need to rethink how I have our proof of relationship organized.

When I filed the original petition, I sent every piece of evidence we had. I think my packet was about 4 pounds!

When we sent packet # 3 in, we sent samples of additional evidence we had collected since the time of filing the petition. It wasn't much, since we filed in September and sent packet # 3 in November.. but we sent my phone records from September, October and what I had up to that point in November.. 5 samples of emails from September - November, 5 samples of MSN Chat logs ( including screen shots of us talking on the web cam) from September - November, copies of all Skype SMS messages for September - November. We had no new pictures at that time.

** I didn't send every MSN chat log/web cam screen shot from Sept - November because it would have made for a huge packet, so just sent an additional five samples. I DID sent every one of them when I filed the original petition. Phone records.. only sent mine because he has had a horrible time trying to get his from Turkcell and mine show my outgoing calls and his incoming calls.. so I am assuming this will be alright since both of our calls appear on my records.

I have all of our evidence arranged as follows:

one HUGE binder with every MSN chat log/web cam conversation
. All of them are together by date. The ones I have already sent them and the ones they don't have.

One large binder with the following
:

all of our emails.. together by date. The ones I have already sent and the ones they don't have.
all SMS messages.. by month. The ones I have already sent and the ones they don't have.
All my cell phone bills.. by month. The ones I have already sent and the ones they don't have.
all receipts for packages sent between both of us over the past two years...
copies of all my flight tickets.. there is only one they don't already have ( my trip in December)
copies of the stamps/visas in my passport.. there is only one they don't already have ( december)
Hotel receipts from every trip.. only one they don't already have is the one from December

We have a photo album with all of our pictures. They have everything already except for the photos from December. I have a concern that we do not have enough photos. From all our pictures, we only have 36 photos that show us together.. and about 10 that can prove we were in the same place at the same time.

Most of the time I was taking pictures of the city.. or a picture of him in front of something.. a picture of me in front of something... I don't usually get in my own pictures when I am on a trip somewhere :) and I have only had one trip since the time we filed. Should I include the pics that might have just him or just me? They don't really prove we were together when the photos were taken, but I really feel I am lacking in photos. Unfortunately, the camera broke on my last trip.. but I did manage to get about 6 pictures with his family before it broke.

Then we have an envelope with miscellaneous stuff. Cards and letters we have sent to each other ( with the envelopes showing addresses). We sent none of this with the petition or packet # 3 and had decided we should just take it to the interview. He didn't want to part with them in case we didn't get them back.

Now.. after all my rambling.. here is my question. If they are going to ask him if he has any NEW evidence to submit should we separate all the new stuff from September to the day of the interview, have that all together in a binder, and just hand them that along with the photos and the envelope with cards and letters.... and then keep all the stuff they already have in another binder and keep it handy just in case?

Do they let you take backpacks or bags into the Consulate? I've tried to organize it so that it is easy to carry in case they won't let us take a bag in. I know you can't take cell phones in .. but what about a back pack?

Sorry about the long message.. just want to make sure we are properly prepared!

Thanks for the info. I will have to prepare him that I may not be allowed to stand with him the whole time.. he's really worried about questions that have to do with dates, because he has a horrible time remembering dates. Yesterday was his sister's birthday and I had to remind him :)

For some reason he can never remember my brother's name. He can remember my niece and nephew's names.. but not my brother's :) For my mom, he just usually calls her "mom" and I think he will stumble on that if he's asked.

We will probably be prepared for tons of hard questions and only end up getting asked a few easy ones. I could deal with that :)

Our interview is in 18 days and I'm leaving in 14.. reading a lot of the consulate reviews again and, for some reason, they are giving me small panic attacks tonight. I know there is no reason to panic, but I am sure I am not the only one who has gone through this.

I know they will allow me into the embassy with him, and I have read that some of you were actually asked questions as well, but I guess I am wondering if I will be allowed to stand with him during his interview. When he is called to the window, can I go up with him? Will I be given instructions, beforehand, that I need to sit and wait? Will I walk up to the window with him and they will tell me to go sit down? We are both hoping and praying that I will be allowed to stand there with him for the whole thing.. but there more I am reading in the reviews, the more I think this won't happen.

What should I expect?

Oh, wow. I'll have to see what is more important for him to see then and let him decide if he'd rather just see it from shore at a distance before going to see other things maybe on one of those bus tours. Can you still go to the top of the statue and see the city skyline? I'd kind of like that to be the first thing he sees in the US. But if he'd rather hop on a bus to tour the city a bit we'll do that. I know the bus tours are expensive tourist traps but we don't know the city and have a limited amount of time and wouldn't want to waste any time trying to decipher which subway will take us to which pt. of interest. If we were staying a few days we would definitely use the public transport but for just a morning we might just fork over the cash for the tour if that's what he prefers. We will always have the option to take a vacation there some other time to see whatever we miss.

Thanks for the info.

The red line or blue line bus tours are pretty good.( actually I think it's called Greyline tours and they have a red route and a blue route). I think it was $40 person when I was there last year, and the ticket was good for 48 hours. If you want to see the whole city, stay on the bus. The entire route takes 2 hours.

What I did was took the bus all the way around.. and then got off at the places I wanted to see, but you won't have enough time for that.

You may do well if you buy the ticket the night you get there and then can ride around and see things and get back on the bus the next morning. Depending on how late you get in that night.

I think the first bus is at 9:00am and the last bus was at 9:00pm. I know you can find the routes and times on the internet. You can buy the tickets on line.. or just walk to any street corner in time square and there are guys standing around selling tickets.

Hi all. B) My father in law arrives today. We can't wait. He's such a fun guy. He's in his 60s but acts more like a hippy teenager. He will stay for a full week and then we will all leave next Monday. :luv:

I still haven't decided if I want to brave a 1hr.50 min. layover in NY or book a longer layover. The flight would arrive at 5pm which is the start of the busy time at JFK. Even though there is a better schedule if we make a connecting flight in Amsterdam we're booking the direct flight from IST to JFK because we're worried about the transit visa issue. If I chicken out on the 110 min. layover then I think we will book one of the 20 hour NY layover flights and get a hotel room and see some more of NY than the 12 hour layover would allow.

I would go for the 20 hour layover and see some of NYC. Just got my ticket to go over for our interview and I have the same 2 hours in between flights when I come back. It will be my first time coming in through JFK and I wonder if it would be enough time for me! I know it's easy enough in D.C. , but I am guessing JFK is going to be a lot busier. If Fuat were coming back with me I don't think I would risk it.

Has anyone heard from Carol? Jacob had his interview 5 days ago and she hasn't posted anything yet. I hope that's not a sign of bad news.
