hehe, I hear you about the cold weather. I can't wait to get to South Carolina.

I love cats, I have 2 at my apartment, and one that still lives with my mom. Can't wait to have more lol...I think I'd have a barn full if I could!

COLD here too.. and I thought I was living in the South. Well, I never really considered Virginia part of the South until I moved here and crossed the Mason-Dixon line. Guess I had forgotten my American History.. anyway, It's supposed to be warmer here too.. but I guess we don't have it as bad as GA or FL!

Love cats.. mine is named Cutie and she will not let me out of her sight. Has to push the bathroom door open if I go in there, follows me everywhere, currently sitting next to my computer. Gets upset if I pay attention to anything but her. Tried another kitten once, so she would have company when I was gone at work.. that didn't work out well. It's going to be interesting when Fuat gets here and she is no longer the queen of all she sees.

Kayla.. I vote for Kjenkins suggestion. Name her VJ :)

Now I'm confused because I found this link that's giving you the poverty guidelines http://www.apexvisa.us/poverty.html
BUT the previous link that I posted says you don't need to meet it until you're ready to do aos. Hmmmm.....

I went back and looked at some old posts I had done about this, when I was first getting started. They way it was explained to me at that time was that you had to meet 100% of the guidelines at time of interview.. 125% at time of AOS. If you are using "assets" instead of income, then you need to have 3 X 125%

I didn't worry about it too much, because I didn't need to, but it would be nice to know exactly what they need at time of interview. If 4lovewelives fiance can qualify for at least the 100% then they can worry about getting the cosponsor later. It will give them a little more time!

Does anyone remember who it was that kept worrying about the fact that she didn't have a co-sponsor? Because while looking for the poverty guidelines I found this link that states you don't need to meet the poverty lines until you're ready to file for adjustment of status (aos)
http://travel.state....2994.html#Forms

That's true.. but I think it is that you don't need to meet the 125% of the poverty line or something like that. Hmmm.. you may be on to something, because that would definitely buy them some time. I think it was 4lovewelive.. but haven't seen her on here in a while.

If you are still reading the page.. check in and let us know how you are!

Amen, sister. Today makes a month that Montreal has had our case logged in their system. I don't understand how it can be so difficult to bring someone over here on a K-1 when they're from Canada. Canada and the US are like BFFs. We have slumber parties with Canada and paint their toenails. This should NOT be that hard.

I just want my interviewwwww. And for some different lady to answer the phone at DOS whenever I call. She knows my voice now. She has actually said to me "Talk to you tomorrow, bye bye". Was extremely funny, but sad that she actually DID talk to me the next day.

One little Canadian. That's all I want. Just one. They wont even know he's goneeeeeee. :crying:

You are so funny. I love reading your posts when you get like this!!

Luis&Alice and PaciencayFe: good luck on your interview and no doubt you'll get that visa, keep us posted.
JennFuat: correction, I was last to get my NOA2, how could you forget!

:) I meant the last of us that filed on the same day. Karen, Kayla and I ( and one other person.. forget who.. they aren't on here much) all mailed out packets and got NOA1 on the same day.. you actually got yours a few days before us :)

Unfortunately we got RFE today. We have to wait on mail to find out what more USCIS need from us. :cry2:

NOOOOOO!!!!

Well, from what I have seen people who get RFE get approved pretty quickly after they respond!! Hopefully it is something really simple that you can correct and get in to the ASAP.

We are going to have one huge party when you finally get that approval!

found out i am in AP at the NVC!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Most of us were told that. I think it's a general response they give while your case is there. I was in AP for 2 days.. I think a few other people were about a week.

I don't know of anyone that called, while their file was still there, that wasn't told they were in AP

Like to say thank you everyone for the support and all the congrats :)

Jenn you will see time will go by so quick. Fuat will probably arrive to the States before Joanna does. She has some stuff that we need to take care of before she leaves. We are shooting for Late Feb or sometime in March. Good thing is Feb only has 28 days haha.

To everyone else hopefully you will get down with your interviews as for us it seems all the weight in the world has been lifted. We knew it was going to ok but until today when they said she gets a Visa it seems anything could happen.

I hope the time goes by as quickly as it can. We're shooting for Mid-March. Our interview is the 23rd, I have a business trip in Moldova, Turkey and Greece until March 9th ( our interview falls between the job fair in Moldova and Job Fair in Turkey.. perfect timing :) )

He plans to spend a week with his sister, a week with his friends and a week with his family and then get on a plane. So.. Mid March for us .. INSALLAH!

I know it's all going to work out but you still can't help thinking and mind won't shut off to go to sleep. I can't wait to hear from her in the morning that she has it all done. Then we can move on and work on when she is getting to Florida.

Today at 12:46 PM, when I least expected it I received a text message from USCIS saying my case had been updated. I rushed online but then the system said that my password had expired. I was so nervous thinking it could be a RFE or worst, that I even forgot my old password. I had to try it a couple of times before it finally allowed to sign in again to watch my portfolio. And YES, my petition had been approved!! I was so happy it almost brought tears to my eyes!!! I'm dying to get home to call my girlfriend and let her know. I'm calling NVC on Wednesday to see if they already got the file. Anyone has their number handy? What do you guys think, will they have it already?

Congratulations!!!!

I would LOVEEE to just take off and do something like that. But he wants a big wedding for all of his family to attend and my mother never really got a wedding, so I'm in a bind. But the more I plan it, the more I can envision it, and the more I envision it the more it makes my heart flutter to think of his face as he sees me for the first time when I'm walking down the aisle. :) I know I'm going to cry. I've been so emotional since he and I got back together. Any little thing makes me cry like a little girl.

I'd love to run off, but overall I wouldn't miss my big day for the world. :luv:

I'll just live through you! LOL

HA HA! OK...

So, it's Monday.. the holiday's are over and VSC and CSC should be back at work. Are we still waiting for approval for A & D? I haven't seen any news, but maybe I missed something?

Here's hoping for a good week with lots of good news for people..

Yeah I went back and looked at the prices of Little Palm Island. Goodness gracious that place is EXPENSIVE!

Sanibel Island I thought was absolutely gorgeous and the prices aren't too bad either. Especially if you factor in all that it includes. My ceremony and reception sites cost me $700, but that was ONLY for the location. My wedding is going to end up costing about $10,000 when it's all said and done. Sometimes I wish we had just gone with some place all inclusive. But then I wouldn't get to bang my head against the desk trying to figure out what shade of purple I need to get my rose petals in so that they'll match my hot pink and light pink ones. I mean, really, who does this?

I'm thankful that we've already got our big stuff out of the way. We've booked our honeymoon, our photographer, our reception and ceremony venue, we know who is doing our cake, I've bought my dress, veil and shoes, and with that AMAZING deal I got on the wedding stuff a while back all that's left to do really is nit-pick at all of the little things.

OHHH.. and that is why I am so happy that we will probably just fly out to Vegas and do everything there :)

Things are a bit better today, I guess. I love him so much you guys just don't even understand. He's my whole reason that my heart beats. I live and breathe to love him. But sometimes...things happen and he says the most insensitive things. I know that he doesn't mean to. The language barrier gets in the way. But my feelings still get hurt and I have a temper. Afterwards he'll always send me a big email about how he doesn't know what to do when I act this way, yadda yadda and it makes me feel like it'd be better if we weren't together. Then I wouldn't hurt him anymore. But he hurts me too. Neither of us are very good at expressing ourselves when we're hurt or angry. I just know that I love him enough to let him go if it means I wouldn't hurt him anymore. I'd walk through fire before I'd hurt him.

A lot of my problem comes from our past together. We broke up once before because of a stupid girl that threatened to kill herself if he didn't. So he did and we were both tortured being without each other, but stayed apart for 4 years. You could tell when we talked that we really wanted to be only with each other. But now that we are back together whenever we fight my initial and immediate reaction is to leave before I'm left. What happened to me in the past hurt me so deeply that I'm still trying to get over it fully. The past is the past and I know that, but it doesn't take away the pain that I feel. But most of the time I'm happy and so grateful to be in love with him. It's only when we have arguments that things come back to me. It's like a panic attack, I can't describe it.

But the wedding seems to be on now. I just got my shipment of 2400 rose petals in so I'm picking them apart as we speak. I left work early because I was so sick. sad.gif

Glad things are better today. This is pretty stressful as it is... you know I am going through the same stress, but it will all be over soon! Hang in there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE ( I'm in Las Vegas and hope you are all doing something fun)

ok sorry for being repetitive, but I just called the NVC again, and talked to another lady and she said that there is no way that it would be in the system yet. That it can take up to 90 days. that if my NAO2 was on the 16th its not possible for it to even be in the system. I'm so confused, cause its not what I see on everyone else time lines. Can someone please tell me how their conversation went with the NVC, or did you wait for a paper in the mail, or am I just confused about something?

That just doesn't make sense.. but keep in mind the people answering the phones at NVC are contract hired operators and really can't say much more than what they see on the screen. One person I talked to told me I would get an email and a letter from NVC, when they file was sent to the consulate, and of course I got nothing.. because they don't send anything.

90 days in the average they have to quote.. I have yet to see anyone actually take that long to get there.. and most of us have been there, and out, within a few days. I think Kayla took a week to get there? Maybe it's delayed a little because of holiday vacations or something. It will NOT take you 90 days.. but with the time of year, it could take longer.

I would call back later tonight.. call a few times tomorrow... keep calling. You will most likely get a different person each time, so no worries that you are going to be driving the same person crazy.. and so what it you are ? This whole process is a strain on all of us smile.gif

In the mean time, start researching what is included or requested in packet 3 and start working on it because after approval, things are going to go pretty fast.
As for myself, I'm a nervous wreck at the airport, oh boy I'm like a little kid wanting to get to toys r us :-)

Kjenkins.. Hope you check in as soon as you can. I was not near a TV yesterday, but just turned it on and the first thing I hear is about the plan crash in Jamaica yesterday. My first thought was it COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE YOURS! The good news is that there were no fatalities... but still want to hear that you are ok.

The flight was going from Miami, but don't know if you had a direct flight or a connecting flight.

Hey,

So I checked our case status today and it says "On December 18, 2009, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

Then above where the little circles are, it's listed as "Post Decision Activity," which is past the Testing/Interview stage. Is it possible that they've skipped over that section? Or does everyone's do this?

Hey that's great! It looks like we are finally getting more September approvals out of CSC. As some people have already said, the interview stage is at the consulate. The one listed on USCIS web page is if they needed to call you in for an interview for some reason. I don't think it generally happens with K1's, but I have heard that it has.

Congrats on the NOA2 and it's nice to see some CSC people in this forum!!

But the worst news is that there's so many trees down and homes without power that we aren't estimated to have it back until sunday!!! How awful!!!!

SUNDAY?!!! Oh.. I hope you have it back soon. I am thankful I am sitting at my mother's, in Michigan, right now.. Of course, last year, they got such a bad snow storm I couldn't leave until five days after I was supposed to . NO STORMS THIS YEAR PLEASE!

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday.
As for myself, just when I thought my string of bad luck ended, another dilema struck yesterday. Going to a doctor's appointment I got in a car accident. I see this truck at a stop sigh/intersection already out in the middle of the street as if my car was invisible to her. I didn't want to hit her so I swerved and hit a parked truck. The truck that I hit merely has a fender bender but MY car seems totaled.
Story doesn't end there, my weak hearted mother jumped out the car, cracked a bone in her leg and tore ligaments in her ankle and therefore needs surgery. I feel so distraught because I won't be here to help her and my first car ever that I only owned for 5 months is destroyed. I haven't even finished x'mas shopping yet; I have a nail and hair appointment and I just want my baby back. It's a 95 camry but I loved it :-(
Anyone wants to offer me a ride?
Ugh, just pray for me because now my new fear is that the plane won't make it safe to Jamaica tuesday morning.

OOOOHHHH! I am so sorry to hear this. But at least you are alright and neither of you were severly injured.

My drive to Michigan was interesting, but looks like I got out of the DC area just in time.

Hope everyone is well, keeping warm and happy.. wherever they are.

kjenkins86: we will call USCIS today even just to hear that we have to wait, but still to hear them and maybe somebody will do something. It is so nice to be with him, but in the same time we are sad that we are still waiting and waiting. I am hoping for Christmas news...I do not want anything...the only present I want is NOA2. Just to think I am leaving him makes me so sad that I can cry. But..thats life...at the end we know that we will be together.
You know how hard is to wait, to see a lot of October filers with NOA2 and just a few of us from September still waiting. I would like to know the reason. sad.gif cray5ol.gif

Ney: good work...I have 3 cats, and with his 2 dogs we will have a big family...intending to have one more cat innocent.gif star_smile.gif

Sebas&Lily: Congrats!!! kicking.gif

Luis & Alice, my thoughts are with you. Things like this are so hard, especially at this time of year.

Ney, sorry to hear about the trip to the Hospital. I hope all is well now.

Sebas & Lily, congrats!!

Paciene ye fay ( I think I spelled that wrong:) ) Congrats on getting the interview date you wanted.

A & D, I hope you get a great Christmas present.. and if you look at everyone else, you will STILL have an interview date before me.. even if you don't get NOA2 until January smile.gif ( but I still maintain there is a REASON our interview is that particular date even if it is so far away).

4lovewelive, this is probably a long shot.. but would your fiance qualify for a loan from the bank? It would have to be enough to put you way above the poverty line, but if that money was sitting in an account then maybe you wouldn't need the Co-sponsor. Just a thought.. have been trying to think of creative ways you could get around the co-sponsor.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. It's been crazy since I got off the plane. Woke up not only to Fuat not being next to me, but found out my company had been SOLD. I have always been on the other end of the corporate take overs, so this is a whole new ballgame for me. I'm one of the ones they send in when we buy a new park.. feels strange to think the company is going to be owned by someone else, and that I am going to have to be the one to change how I do things instead of telling others how things are to be done now, but I do know I don't need to worry about my job.. and it could be a really good thing for our parks.

Packing my car and heading to Michigan. Wasn't going to leave until tomorrow or Sunday, but huge snow storm on the way. We're expecting at least a foot of snow.. now, being from Michigan, that is nothing to me.. but these people in Virginia don't know how to drive in snow.. and we don't have snow plows, etc. No superstructure for something like this.. really, if we see two flakes of snow schools close, people freak out and go buy food and water incase they get trapped in their homes.. and I AM NOT exaggerating. Walmart was insane last night. Everyone buying bottled water and blankets..

So.. hitting the road today..

Hope to see some good news next time I get on the computer!

I just dunno what to do..... I cant believe that one damn piece of paper keeps me away from him. I am pretty desperate.....

OOOHH.. is this what you were referring to? Your consulate must work differently.. we had to send the I-134 with packet # 3 to even get scheduled for an interview. You've already been scheduled, but you don't know if you have a co-sponsor yet? Get that "friend" who promised to do it to fill out the paperwork! Then at least you know you have it.

I'm not sure how it all works with co-sponsors, but if you have the papers... even if your friend changes their mind, you have papers showing you have a sponsor. Might not be "legit", but at least you have something to show at the interview. I wish I knew some way to help you.

PaciencayFe: I am so excited my heart is racing, literally! Lol!
I'm not ready but if I was to leave now, I'd go in my birthday suit (naked) Lol
Goodluck with the medical!
Jenn: Oh really? When I'm around my parents with him, we hold hands, giggle, poke each other... And when night falls, I tell my dad "it's bed time" and he smiles and say he knows what that means. So wait, where do you sleep???
There aren't much men though.
Ha to the potty talk & strong legs..
Well, I do hope time goes in your favor.
On the flight back, the flight attendant will ask you "what would you like" and you'll say "a ice pak is perfect!"
Kayla:correction, there's a difference between wife & wifey. Wife is when you're actually married. Wifey is when he tells you you're his wife, but you have no ring or wedding plans!
Get that interview!

I slept in the room with his sisters. It may seem a little strange with the not showing affection, but we are not married yet.. and it's not only part of Turkish culture, we also have the Muslim religion aspect of this. It would not be appropriate for us to share a room or anything else.. especially in his parents house.. of course, I do not stay there the ENTIRE trip smile.gif There are a few days at the start/end of the trip when we are in a hotel smile.gifsmile.gif

Oh ok. I don't know why I forgot that you were muslim!

smile.gif I don't think it was ever really mentioned. Turkey is a mostly Muslim country, but more laid back than many of the Middle Eastern countries. Some people are very strict.. some aren't. Fuat's family is pretty traditional.

I think today sucks more than yesterday. Waking up alone.. knowing he's not in the house... horrible sad.gif

Well, I'm back.. at least back in the country. Currently sitting in Chicago O'Hare waiting for my connecting flight to Richmond. Have two hours to wait and all I want to do it sleep. My body is telling me it's 1:30am.. and I did not get a lot of sleep last night. Wish I could say it was because I was busy working on needing an ice pack smile.gif.. but just couldn't sleep knowing I was going to have to leave.

I've been awake since 6:00am Istanbul time.. and only slept about 3 hours total, so defintely feeling it right now.

Did pretty good with the tears.. until I got to the check-in counter at the airport. Opened my passport holder, to give to the woman at the counter, and Fuat's picture was in there. Forgot I had a picture of him in there, so it suprised me.. and then the tears started. But.. only 9 more weeks until our interview. I just have to keep telling myself that.

Now.. have to get over the jet lag quickly. Working tomorrow and half day on Friday and then starting the drive to Michigan on Friday night. Spending about a week and a half with my Mom and then flying out to Vegas to see my Dad. Great place to spend New Year's though smile.gif

Kayla: Women are just much more attentive than men. I'm glad you found your prince charming!
Jenn: HI!! You have on that ice pak?
I've never been to kings dominion, heard it's fun though. I really do hope that after we're through w' this process that we still stick around to tell each other how amazed our sweethearts were at seeing certain things in the US.
Botox? Oh no!
Jenn, I hope you get your wish of him leaving work early. When I'm leaving Jamaica, at the airport, I cry and I don't care who stares. Not on the plane though, they'll kick you off in a minute for being psycho.
Jenn you're funny! You understood enough to know what they're were saying but not if you were good enough? Ha ha, funny.
I'm not sure what kind of "plumbing" there is in Asia but I do hope it's not the deeeep holes in the ground that has a wood square box on top that they refer to as the "toilet" No flushing, saves water! Eew!!! And that's exactly why I rent somewhere everytime.

What in the world happened to Nydvo?? I guess having too much fun & playing catch up!

Ha Kjenkins.. no ice pack. Was with the family for three days.. not so much as saying "I love you" let alone touching each other in any way. It's rare that we even sit next to each other when we are there. Cultural thing.. never show romantic affection in public and defintely NOT in front of parents smile.gif The closest I have come to needing an icepack is when I thought I had twisted my wrist when he, his mother and sisters were trying to teach me traditional Turkish dances. But that was fun smile.gif I'll put some pictures on here when I get home. Well, now that I think about it, I did touch his hand then.. but that was the limit smile.gif

Of course, I wouldn't mind needing an ice pack on the flight home.

You know, I sometimes wonder about the men on this site and if they just shake their heads when they read comments by you, Kayla or myself in regards to those ice packs. Sorry guys.. we should remember that it's not just women reading our "girl talk".

As for Asian plumbing... similair to what Kjenkins describes.. not exactly the same, but same general idea. I really wonder how senior citizens use them.. I guess they just get strong leg muscles after using them their whole life? smile.gif OK.. enough "potty" talk.

One more hour and he will get off work and then it will take him about 30 minutes to get here... time is going so so so so slow.

Well, it's my last day here... Fuat is at work and I am in the hotel, packing and getting everything ready so that I will have it all out of the way when he gets here at 8:00pm. Fighting back the tears.. he hates it when I cry, so I have to get it all out before he comes back.

When I was here in May, he surprised me and left work early.. hoping he does that today, but he's had to miss so much work for getting police reports, birth certificates, photos, extending passport, medical, etc. that I am not counting on it. Going to be ready though.. just in case.

Tomorrow is really, really going to suck.. and a 14 hour flight home, when you are so depressed, is not a lot of fun. Most of the time I just sit on the plane, trying not to cry, so all the other people don't stare at me and wonder what the hell is wrong.

Kayla.. I found the perfect way for you to learn French. Forget Rosetta Stone. Just spend 3 days with his family, while he is at work for 15 hours a day.. since none of them speak English it will force you to learn.. and FAST. My limited Turkish came in handy, but wow was it a strain sometimes. But we managed and I know a lot more than I did when I went to their home three days ago smile.gif

Unfortunately, the more you learn ... the more you understand.. even when they think you don't. This morning, they thought I was asleep and his mom and sister were talking.. and his mother was saying somethign about whether or not I would be a good wife for him. I'm not sure if she said I would or wouldn't.. I wanted to pull out my dictionary, but couldn't since they were sitting right next to me and they thought I was sleeping. Now that I am back in the hotel, I can't remember exactly what she said to look it up smile.gif

Although I am not happy to be back in the hotel, since that means I leave in the morning.. I am happy to be back in a building that has a Western toilet. If any of you have been to Asia you know what I mean!! I don't want to offend anyone that comes from a country with that kind of "plumbing", I manage.. but it takes a little getting used to smile.gif

You're right. It helps to talk to people who are going through the same things and can understand you. My honey is actually verrrrry supportive and encourages me a lot. He is giving me precious advice on how to handle stress and worry less. I couldnt ask for more. Its just that I have been a person who worries too much all my life so Im still trying to change this.

Maybe we should all get together next year when we will be with our future husbands / wives. We should have a big party or something smile.gif

I'm volunteering Kings DOminion for the party. I can get you all a great deal on hotel rooms and free entrance to the park smile.gif

I'm not losing my hair from the stress.. YET.. but I am seriously considering botox to get rid of the frown line I am developing.!!

Kjenkins, of COURSE we'll all stay around. There's still AOS to go through and a bunch of other stuff. Besides, if all else fails there's facebook, and various IM applications. Maybe we should create a facebook group, LOL. I think I'll get on that one...I'm bored out of my mind!

I just joined the facebook group!

Awesome! I'm a litte late in getting caught up on these posts.. but you must be on your way now!!!

Ney, Congrats on the new addition to your family!

As for the stamp at JFK. It is no longer a valid form of work authorization, for K1 visas, as of Feb. 2009, but I do know of people who have still gotten it when going through JFK. Do not know why they are still issuing it, if it is no longer valid. I had a past employee, who came in on K1 in July, who was given the stamp.. so I know they were still giving it then. But.. employers are not supposed to accept it as an authorized EAD. When he came to me asking for a job, I was not sure and checked with someone I know at DOS. Also had our company legal team check into it. In both cases I was told he could work.. but in both cases I was given the wrong information. I was at a conference in October, and someone from DOS and DHS was there and I asked them.. they said it's not an authorized EAD, but that sometimes JFK still gives it out.

If you get the stamp at JFK, and an employer does not know enough to know it is not valid for work authorization.. you take a risk and so does the employer. DHS is really cracking down on illegal workers and we get emails, almost monthly, telling us about the new employer investigations DHS is doing on I-9 work authorizations and the penalties employers pay for letting someone work illegally.

Personally, I wouldn't risk it. It's only a few months to get an appropriate EAD ( Depending on how soon you get married after arriving).

I was supposed to leave for Istanbul on Friday. Fuat got his medical results, called me, told me he passed and said "honey.. can't you come today?"

I just changed my flight and am leaving for the airport in ONE HOUR.

AHHHHHH.... I will have to wait until I get to Turkey to read all the fun stuff.

I'm off.... YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Jenn I can imagine how you are feeling. Fuat will need your 100% support, because it is a huge step for him.
I prepared myself for moving to David and the best choice we made was to come to see my new home. For you and Fuat was difficult because of denials and he actually only can imagine where he is going. I think that it is easier for us, women, to move then to men. We are more adaptable.
It is not easy to leave your homeland and start your life far far away, but love is a miracle and love makes miracles and it changes all. In the name of love we can do everything and love deserves this. I know that I will have time when I will be sad and homesick, but my home is where is David and he is in the States, so my heart is with my love there.
I know that at the end everything will be like it has to be. (L)

You always have such a positive outlook on everything :) I need that when I am getting stressed. Thank you :)

Tonight, I have been going through old posts on this thread.. so many people on here in the beginning and now seems to be mostly just "us" :) Some people never came back to fill out timelines and you have to wonder what happened with them? Are they done? Are they still in limbo??

Found Karen's first post.. so excited when she had sent in her packet. Kayla's first post.. about 4 minutes before my first post :)

I can remember watching Karen and Kayla's profiles every day, because we all filed on the same day,and and had NOA1 on the same day.. so I would watch theirs in the hopes that if something happened with them that something would happen with me soon.

I had forgotten about how stressed out I got when my check wasn't cashed at the same time theirs was, forgotten that I was worried I might not have signed the form and the petition was being sent back to me. I had never been sooo happy to see $455 disappear from my bank account. Reading those old posts made me laugh.

Found Krystle's first post, and remembered that when I first read it I was thinking how much she looked like a friend of mine in Jamaica ( Whose name is ALSO Kristel :).. I never told you that did I Krystle?)

Karen, remember when I thought you were blonde and was so shocked when you put up a new picture and saw how dark your hair actually is?

Read the posts from Alex Barrow.. he was such a cheerleader for everyone.. and then he just disappeared! ALEX..where are you and what is happening??

What ever happened to the other Karen.. Texas Karen? Does anyone know?

Like I am sure most of you have, I pop into the other threads once in a while to see how "October", "November", "December" are doing... after reading many other threads I have to say that I truly feel this September group is pretty special. One minute we can be talking about visas.. the next it's weddings.. or ice packs.. or carpet glue.. babies.. then on to possums :) and whenever one of us has needed support, someone has been there to give it right away.

We have our own "mom" , a wedding planner ready to find dresses, etc. at the drop of the hat, when we needed "statistics" we had our own statistician ( Until she got blocked from the site for over use :) ) ... and we have a quit smoking support group when we finally decide to try to quit cold Turkey ( don't worry Fuat.. I will come no matter what the weather :) ) This group has turned into so much more than just visas.

It has been a really long journey for all of us, even though most of us got approved pretty quickly, and this part of it is almost over.... I am so glad that I got to go through it with all of you.

OK.. enough sappy stuff...

Kayla, how are those possums? :)

Well, got to work at 11:30a, for the 12:00pm start time we had decided on.. only to get a call at 11:35am saying we were going to stay closed all day. At least I was able to get my laptop and have my web cam. Now.. it's stopped snowing and the sun is out, but I am not making the 30 minute drive back.. I doubt they would ask us to, but I am home and staying home.

When I quit smoking, the first time, I quit cold turkey and it was incredibly hard. But I know I can do it, and I will do it again.. soon.. soon.. but not right now.

Flower for me will be cala lillies... they were my sisters favorite flower.

I am just in love with the unity sand idea and definitely want to do that..

Can you imagine if Krystle had not gone early. She would be leaving today or tomorrow wouldn't she? She might not have made it out.

When I talked to Fuat, this morning, he asked me if I could come on Tuesday or Wednesday instead of getting there on Friday. I would love to, but I can't throw everything in a bag and come early this time. I will be gone from work for 19 days as it is.. and will be getting back 3 weeks before opening day. Too much to do to get my Department ready before I leave and just can't add a few extra days. Wish I could.

He's really nervous.. not so much about the interview, but about coming here and leaving everything he's ever known. We had a long talk today, and it's going to cost me a fortune on my cell phone bill, but... if I could make him feel a little better then it will be worth it.

I try to imagine what it must be like for him, but I can't really... at least I've been outside my own country, been to Turkey, know what it would be like if I left here and moved there... he's doing all this totally blind and it has him scared, but I suppose that's normal.

12 days.. hold on 12 more days honey.. then the interview stress will be behind us and we can move on to the next stressful thing...

I wish he had friends who had come here and could tell him everything.. instead of hearing things from strangers. One person will tell him all good things.. another person will tell him all bad things.. and they don't know him, they don't know me.. but the only person we both know, who is from Turkey and actually lives in Richmond, is someone neither one of us really trust...so Fuat doesn't even want to talk to him about this.

I just keep telling him he has to trust me and that I would never, ever have him do something like this if it wouldn't be good for us, good for him, good for his family...

Trying to keep the stress level as low as possible for the next 12 days :)

I love thunder snow!!! When we had that awful snow storm right before Christmas it lightened a lot.

They've scraped our roads, but you can't tell it. Already back full of snow. We haven't had this kind of winter in about 13 years!!! I must say, I'm not impressed!

We've delayed coming to work until noon today, but I have a feeling they are going to call all of us and tell us not to come to work today. If that happens I am going to do something stupid and brave the roads anyway.

My home computer does NOT have a web cam.. and I always use my work laptop to see Fuat. I will brave the ice and snow to go get that computer if I have to :)

I should have just loaded the darn web cam on this computer.. but never bothered to do it, since the work laptop has the bigger, better screen.

Now I've seen everything...

There was a huge crashing noise, that sounded like extremely loud and close thunder.. I looked outside and there was a ton of lighting and then the sky let loose with so much ice and snow that I couldn't see my car.. and it's only just outside my front door. Amazing....

Excuse me.. Mr. Weatherman.. if you hadn't noticed.. Virginia is south of the Mason-Dixon line, so technically we are supposed to be in the south. You know.. hot summers, mild winters.. no snow...

I can hear my mother's voice now.. "Why don't you have boots?"

Boots? Mom, I don't need boots.. I've lived here three years and never seen it snow more than a few flakes..

Ahh,, I should have let her buy me those boots when I was home for Christmas :)
