I don't know what to say...maybe to try to find someone who knows more about that. I hope you will find a solution. I didn't need one, but my family would have done it if I had needed it. There is no family member on the US side that can help? What about a friend? I don't think they have to be a relative?!?!? On a good note.. UPS now shows that our packet was delivered to the consulate on 11/19.. DOS and the Consulate still reporting it has not been entered into the system, so it's been sitting in a mail room ( or something) for the last 7 days.. and will continue to sit until at least Tuesday when the consulate opens again. Maybe friday? or maybe next monday? we shall see... in the meantime i have started "pre-organizing" stuff for the consulate - making lists of all the evidence i have to print out, assemble, copy, etc. Ordering prints from our peru trip, practicing filling out forms and ordering tax transcripts etc...and also starting to get jose luis up to speed on what he'll need to do when he has his next vacation. if we are lucky enough to get into the computer system at the consulate in december sometime, we may just be able (this is a big maybe) to get an interview for when jose luis has his vacations in january. though that means he will need to do a bunch of stuff immediately when his vacations start (like medical, police record etc) and then we have to hope that we can schedule an interview for maybe the third week of jan. so, a lot of "ifs" and "maybes"...problem is, if the stars don't align then we may have to wait until his next vacations in late march, which will possibly be after my I-129F expires...which means i would need to file for an extension...ugh. but we'll just see how it goes. hopefully everything will work out. i guess that's about it for now...so jenn - hope the packet three gets logged in Ankara soon! and mamajew - good luck on the interview! please let us know how it goes! hope everyone has a good day! Call NVC. Our file got there on a Friday and was sent out the next Tuesday! You could already be on your way to the Consulate. Good luck We faxed back our packet 3 the same day (the 19th) and DOS doesn't show that they have updated our case yet! UGH!!!!!! I called and talked to a very nice woman.. thought maybe "packet # 3" was VJ thing.. so I was saying something like.."I am calling to find out if our DS documents and I-134 have reached the consulate yet." She responded with" Your I-134?" and I said.."Yes.. I have filed for a K1 visa and we have sent out documents to the consulate and now we are waiting for our interview date. I am hoping you can tell me if our documents have reached the consulate?" She said.. "OH you mean packet # 3!" Well.. the good news is thanks for the phone number.. the bad news is that it's not there yet. It was sent one day delivery.. last Wednesday.. Fuat is a little freaked out and so I am I. We've had a run of bad luck with things lately, and this would be the icing on the cake if the packet doesn't reach the consulate. I am really stressed out.. called UPS to see how long it should really take to go from Istanbul to Ankara.. they couldn't tell me. Fuat says the guy he gave it to said it would be there the next day. Is it possible it's there and just hasn't been registered yet?? I don't need any more stress... really, I think all of this is much worse than waiting for the NOA2! don't freak just yet... Naples had my package for a week before they entered for DOS to see it, and we faxed the packet 3 info back on the 19th and it is not showing in DOS's system yet.. I think Naples and Ankara are due for many, many calls. I am sure they have it and just haven't entered it. I think they are due for a fax or two of the fax confirmation sheet as well..And check this out.. I have to call Naples, because they charge Antonio 15 euro before they will say "boo" to him. Ankara is the same way.. Fuat has to go to a bank and pay $20 for a pin number that will allow him to call the Consulate. We couldn't fax our documents though. They had to be sent by UPS. I emailed them on Thursday, to see if it was there.. emailed again on Friday.. DOS actually had a record of my emails to them!! But I go no response from them. The woman actually told me I had emailed to ask about this on Thursday and Friday.. they record EVERYTHING Grrr... So I arrived last Thursday and most of the weekend has been spent shopping for furniture etc for our house (you know guys they have no taste so having to add the feminine co-ordinated touches, also its a chance for me to meet with some contractors to get some work underway which can be completed when I return to the UK early next month. The one thing I would say was this visit was so needed, there is just so much time you can spend online together without some element of frustration or even boredom happening due to time differences, the demands of day to day life and just energy levels. Anyway just wanted to add my experience and I guess its back to waiting for CSC to start cranking out those NOA's I hope you have a great time and get a lot done! I lived in not so sunny Ohio for 15 years Just be thankful you don't have snow yet.. and if you don't like snow, I hope you will not be living in the "snow belt". I have so many things to get for our house too, but decided to wait until he was here so that he could have some say in what's in the house. I want it to feel like he is in HIS house too.. and not just moving into mine. I think it's great that you have a chance to be able to do all that before you make the move! Have a great time! The Ankara Embassy closes in about an hour, so guessing I won't hear anything today.. but VSC will just be starting their work day, so will still be looking for some good news... hoping for some news from CSC too. I have to leave, for a business trip to Hong Kong, Wednesday morning ( poor me )... But I am really hoping to get that interview date before then. What get's me, is that I keep hearing from other people who went to the Ankara consulate that they were put in AP, at the interview, because a name check had to be done.. and it could take up to 6 months. They have the police report, and everything else now.. why don't they do the darn name checks before the interview? Who knows... I am hoping we will know an interview date before Wednesday. They will be closed for Thanksgiving.. and then there is the Muslim Bayram holiday, so they will be closed until December. Please.. please.... give us an interview date by Wednesday!! Yes, only part-I of DS-230, the OF-160 check list, and the shipping label for Packet 4. However, this is from my understanding for the consulate in Guangzhou, but should be the same for others. All other forms will be taken with you to the interview, and this includes the medical forms from Packet 4. From what I have read of other's interviews...it would be a good idea to take copies of everything and the required originals. If you have a divorce, it seems that some consulates are asking for a notarized letter of explanation. I think some of these things are to "trip up" people who are not completely prepared. Plan carefully.....and triple check everything. It depends on the consulate, so it may not just be the DS-230 or the OF-160 We had to send in DS-230, DS 156, DS156K and DS 157. Didn't have 160... since our consulate doesn't have that online form yet. We didn't have a shipping label.. so must be something for that particular consulate I guess. Our instructions weren't too clear on the DS-230.. One set said to only send part I, but another set said to send both. Send both just to be safe.. if they don't need Part II no harm done. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	September 2009 K-1 Visa Filers	I know very little French, but I think it is easier than Turkish and the Rosetta Stone program is probably very good for languages that don't have such complicated grammar rules. I know about the family communication problem! Fuat is the only member of his family that speaks English. His sisters know a few words.. and it's a common joke with one sister.. She says "You're Welcome" and I say "Tamam" ( means.. OK) but that's about all she knows. "tamam" is the first word I learned.. and "You're Welcome" is what she knows.. so we just say this back and forth to each other and laugh. His youngest sisters can count to ten in English.. I can count in Turkish.. so we sit and count to each other But that is about the extent of our English/Turkish conversations She's young, and hasn't really grasped the idea that I don't speak Turkish. She is always talking away, and whispering secrets in my ear.. and I just shake my head and smile or laugh if I think I should. She really has no clue that I don't understand a thing she says. His mother, three other sisters and I use a lot of hand signals and flipping pages in dictionaries to point to words. I really want to be able to hold a conversation with his mother in Turkish. Right now I can say "Hello, how are you, I am good, thank you, good night, good morning, etc..." Not a great start... when we talk on Web cam I can type to her in Turkish, using an online translation program.. but she can't type So.. she just sits there and reads what I say.. and then Fuat has to respond for her. So, a word would change with no explanation. NOTHING is in English, so it took me three days to figure out that the words under the pictures of people I was looking at were for "Man" "Woman", "Girl" and were not their names For example, it showed four pictures.. and the words were "Adam", "Kedin", "Kiz" The "Adam" thing threw me and I thought it was his name and it was asking a question about Adam. Three days later I figured out it meant "man" I did not think it was a useful took for putting together sentences, but it did help me to learn a lot of words. I ended up hiring a graduate student, at one of the universities, to tutor me. That helped a lot, but I still cannot put together many sentences Of course, I did not have a lot of time to dedicate to it during the summer so need to get back at it. Has not been used long enough to prove anything as far as I am concerened..and I think about some of the drugs they thought everyone should have, only to find out 10 years down the road about the side effects. I guess we got so wrapped up in being together and spending time together that we just didn't pay any attention. Maybe we'll get another visit before the wedding, because right now he's just in misery. I am too, but I'm trying to be the strong person. I guess it hurts so bad because we're bracing ourselves to not see each other for 7 months. We'll see. But I really think we need to see each other one more time, preferably before the interview so that we can get some more pictures for him to take as evidence. I sent every picture we had of us with the initial packet. I think it would be bad if we didn't have any new ones when he went. Okay USCIS, let's get the ball rolling!!! OOhh.. do you have pictures of you in the same place, even if you are not in the photo together? I don't think those do much good, but it is better than nothing. Krystle I am so, so so so so so so so happy that you are able to get to Jamaica for the interview. Did I mention that I am so happy ?? Kayla, I love the idea of the letters.. I started doing that last year and gave it up. Was too busy to keep at it, but someday I will start it again and give them to him. The only thing I will be sending for V-day are the M&M's I had made with our picture and a few of our favorite says.. and an Elvis DVD. He just can't get enough of Elvis. Karen, I know our consulates are different. but what kind of questions did they ask? Did they ask YOU any questions? I know some of the USC who went through the Ankara consulate actually got interviewed along with their fiance, so just trying to be prepared. We have a few strikes going against us in this, so I want to be prepared for any question possible. Would love to hear what they asked.. I front loaded the petition like crazy too.. and when we sent in packet # 3 we also included all our proof from the time of filing the petition to the time we sent packet # 3. Part of me says I should only be prepared with additional proof from the time of packet # 3 to the time of the interview ( 3 months worth).. photos from my last trip, our emails, receipts for packages mailed, cards, phone bills and our daily MSN web cam conversations. For those, I take a screen shot of us on web cam and then I copy the entire conversation into the document. Good thing we type instead of using microphone. But then, I am thinking I should take everything! If I did that it would be a huge amount. They already have all the photos, mail, MSN conversations, facebook messages, SMS Skype messages, phone bills, blah, blah, blah from February 2008 until November of 2009.. so should I take copies of all of it anyway? The MSN conversations themselves fill several binders! What about financial proof? Did they ask for any further pay check stubs or anything from the time you sent them the I-134? K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	September 2009 K-1 Visa Filers	I haven't checked in for a while but just an update, my fiance had her interview in Jakarta Indonesia on January 12th and was approved, and her visa was issued today, January 21st! I thought it was strange that it took 9 days from interview approval to visa issuance, they actually told her to fly back to Bali and they will mail her visa and passport to the Bali consulate. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	September 2009 K-1 Visa Filers	Just checking in before I call it a night, leave my office, and head home.. I AM TIRED! I can't wait until my seasonal office staff comes back on Feb. 1! The last few weeks have been killer, trying to get everything done without our office staff here. This is the time of year I really wish I was hourly! So.. today.. I spent 8 hours arranging work visas for students from.. Turkey and Ecuador ( with a few thrown in from Thailand, Ukraine and Moldova) Thought about Karen all day... every time I typed the word Ecuador Figures, we are waiting for what we want most in this world.. a visa... and I spend all day arranging visas for other people If he had just been a university student when I met him.. I could have gotten him here so easily. At least for a summer A & D.. the good news is coming soon. I just know it.. Canadians... your good news will come soon too Hope everyone has a good night. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	September 2009 K-1 Visa Filers	Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a good week and getting close to all the interviews. We are heading to Ciudad Juarez next week for interview and I'm trying to organize all the paperwork. They told me that I need to bring an original and a copy of my divorce decree, but they don't give you the "original" at the court house, just the certified copy. Is that what the consulate wants? Did it say you needed and Original and a copy? Or.. did it say you needed an original certified copy? I got confused with what we needed for birth certificate fromTurkey, because the instructions said to sendd the original certified copy.. so I thought we needed the original AND a certified copy of the original.. Turns out we only needed to send the certified copy and we need to bring the original with us.. but Krystle is correct. I would start a new topic and ask the people from your same country!
