you're so close to the finish line... congratulations are in order!

btw, how's everyone?

edp333 - your wife's interview's coming up!
i can imagine the excitement and the anxiety building up
are you flying to manila to pick her up?

what about pkewl? and urge?

Hello All,
I am back biggrin.gif

Sorry for being out of contact and a delayed reply but I was in India for the last 5 weeks visiting my wife there. Thank you all for dropping a note to see how we/I was doing - C & J, neenuh... and e'one else who checked upon us.

As for our case progress, my wife submitted her packet 3 on Dec 2nd and ridiculously got a visa appointment date on March 5th. Yes after 3 months for some reason mad.gif . I guess Bombay is that busy or they just dont like us. Anyhow, my wife and I are just glad to have a visa appt date than NOT to have one at all or something worse. So, we are just playing the waiting game.

How about the rest of the bunch? Urge.. u still here...

Guys, I got to go right now but I will start catching up here on VJ as time permits.

Wishing everyone here a VERY GOOD LUCK for a NOA2 or with the visa appt date.. Hope things work out well for all of us. good.gif

Regards.

Hey Pkewl,

Good to see you back! smile.gif Jaz and I have an interview of March 6th and a medical of Feb 28th. She's going to take an early medical. Its funny that my K3 made it to the embassy but it seems as though my CR1 is still rolling around at the NVC. Again, like you we are grateful that at least we have an appt. So close, yet still so far. wink.gif As for the rest of the bunch, G&A have their appt today so hopefully as is well in Vancouver. I can't speak for the rest.

It looks as though my wife may make it home for our anniversary in April afterall. kicking.gif Our signature is updated with the dates and times biggrin.gif Those who are still waiting, hang in there, it shouldn't be long now. good.gif

... DHL announced layoffs of 9500 employees today - thats a heavy hit to the process (and those employees families who will no doubt experience another kind of challenge). God bless them too. All of it just further complicates an already stretched to the limit system.

...

DHL is closing their domestic (state-to-state) operations. Their international operations might be affected during this transition, but it shouldn't be catastrophic.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDublin Embassy's December 2008 Processing Priority
Just thought I'd pass this along...I did not hear this directly but it might bring some cheer to our already-married filers going through Dublin: the priority for this embassy in December is green card applications for IR/CR-1's. They are supposed to be clearing the backlog for these types of applications.

It's not much of a help to me since I'm a K1'er trying to cadge the favor of a quick interview from a friend of a friend of a friend, but since it's good news for others I thought there might be someone out there that could get some encouragement.

So, if you have applied for a green card through Dublin and are still waiting for an interview - take heart - you are their top priority!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDR/USCIS K-1 custody requirements

Send an email to the DR Embassy and ask them. They know the answer because they are the ones who will be looking for that document.

I called the DR embassy here in Boston. They blew me off, told me "don't you have a lawyer who can answer this, talk to a lawyer, we don't answer things like that."

Very bizarre.

Anyone been through parent permission in the Dominican Republic? ANYONE???? Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks in advance for any help/insight on this. The country of my fiancee is the Dominican Republic, and I am bringing her to the United States.

My Dominican fiancee for whom I am submitting a US fiancee K-1 visa application has one minor child that she will bring with her to the US. She was never married to the father of the child, but the father IS listed on the child's birth certificate.

There is no formal custody agreement, and the child currently spends time with both of them, mostly out of convenience due to the mother's work hours, otherwise the child would be with her full time.

The father has already said he will allow the child to leave the country to be with her mother.

Is a simple certified/notarized letter by the father signed in the presence of a lawyer stating that he gives permission for the child to leave the country to live with the mother and her fiance, me, all that is needed?

Or does the father have to sign something that says he releases all custody rights as well?

Do we need copy of father's cedula and copies of his birth certificate as well to satisfy Dominican exit customs and US entrance customs?

Or is the notarized permission letter all we need along with the approved K-1 visa docs?

you multiply by 52 weeks in a year. If you make $10.75 per hour, your yearly salary is $22,360

That is correct. The shortcut is the hourly times 2080. That's 40 hours times 52 weeks.

I worked for the state government with federal regulations for food stamp program, medical, etc. - - the feds us the following formula - - - take four consequetive paystubs if paid weekly, two if bi-weekly, total and divide by four - then multiply by 4.33333 - that will help you get closer to the required income - - - - remember to use the gross earnings - not the net!! good luck!!

Oh, of course, Jomo's Girl!

Of course, I'd imagine that all of us would find the way to pay for a relative's surgery even if it would cause financial hardship. A new computer, not so much.
GabachaYucatecaFemaleMexico2008-03-05 12:48:00
Mexico, Latin & South AmericaWhy do family members and in-laws back home think we're rich ?
I've never had that problem...and my hubby's family is fairly poor. They're well off in comparision to others from their village, but to put it into perspective, didn't have an actual toilet until my husband was 24. But in their opinion, they want for nothing.

My sister-in-law did say when we moved to Cancun, "so when will you start sending us money?" because for them, Cancun is the land of milk and honey. But she's weird anyway.

And my sister-in-law asked us to be her compadres for her wedding, but she would have asked anyway...after all, she and her baby brother are best friends and she and I are very close.

I think that his family feels like they can take care of everything, however, I do think that if they need something like medicine or education and it's within our means to make the experience easier or better, then it';s our duty to help them.

I remember even before we were together and his mom was feeding me three meals a day, it was a constant struggle for me to even get his mom to accept 20 bucks a month for payment for food...I'd have to figure out what she needed or wanted and say, "Here, this is so you can buy a pair of shoes or a big cooking pot." Only then would she take it...or I'd stick it in her hand and run before she protested.

I was reading through the K1 flowchart and am stuck on the part about the beneficiary receiving their packet and checklist.

Is there really stuff that he needs to fill out himself or can that all be done by me prior to meeting up with him in Juarez? If I remember correctly, people have said that the beneficiary never even receives the package often and I'd bet this'll be the case for us as well.

So can everything be done on my end and if his signature (except for the paperwork he'll have to pull together) and signed by him when we're together again?

I do have a question about filling out the employment section for the BF:

First question, it asks for the past five years. If there are more jobs than spaces, do I attach a separate sheet?

And secondly, I'm not sure if your loved ones are the types with stable jobs or not (I imagine some of both) but me imagino que muchos saben como es la bronca con el trabajo de mexico. Well, homeboy has jumped around from waiter job to waiter job over the years. For some he's been officially on the books and others no. But all we've got is his "official" record of jobs that he uses for job apps...ie, the best jobs with the dates fudged to hide when he was looking and not finding anything. Then, of course, in the middle of the jobs where he worked for a couple of months, was out of work for a bit, he'd work at some crappy place for a couple of weeks while discovering just how crappy these places were.

So how do I handle this on the form? Especially because we've both got horrendous memories. This part is making me all sweaty.

BTW, this is for his first G325A.
