I've heard a couple of different dates re the fee increases...anyone have an idea? I've heard June, July, and October.

I'm getting sick to my stomach thinking about all of the things that could go wrong at the interview.

So when the fellow goes for his medical...I woudn't be surprised if they send him to the psychiatrist because of his tattoos and because he drinks (not heavily, but we're rocking out in several of the pictures that I'll submit as evidence, so I'm not going to tell him to say no).

So what happens when they send them to the psychiatrist?

Yup, I'd say me pregunto too.

I also like the word chimuelo...translates as toothless but it's used for one who's not completely toothless...like when a kid is missing her front tooth.

I checked my super huge translators dictionary just to make sure that I was not talking oyt of my a$$ and I saw that "grey mullet" was in the English to Spanish section. Who woulda thought?

Looking forward to doesn't really have a translation...but I'd probably say something like "Estoy emocionada que llegue mi chavo en los eeuu." or something similar.

Sounds like things are going wonderfully for you two! How exciting!

What else is he doing to keep himself busy?

I'm going to get Edgar into day classes which are 4 or 5 hours and my dad has already decided that he's going to teach him to fly fish. I'm interested in hearing how he feels about the conecpt of catch and release.

I hope I can convince him to volunteer, but this idea is a little weird for him: "Entonces, trabajo y no me pagan?" "Pues, si." "No SIRVE!". I've got a bit more work to do on that one.

Sorry, but I need to vent and this seems the best plave to do it!

Since I've been doing the K1, I've been checking out lots of forums and my most recent is a Juarez forum to try to get the lay of the land for our upcoming visit. Many of the people around there are filing waivers for their spouses and I can imagine that they're going through all sorts of stress, raising children alone and being separated from their spouses during the wait. But I can't believe all of the negative, awful comments people make about Mexico! Their husbands are from there, their in-laws still live there, but so few would EVER dream of living in Mexico. I know many, many people filing waivers have extenuating circumstances for filing, but I find it sooo insulting to Mexicans how little they think of the country.

I've met dozens of couples, either both expat or one expat, raising happy, healthy children in Mexico. But people make it sound like raising a child in Mexico is a deathwish...no medical care, everyone is backwards, as soon as you cross the border you are risking your life. It's so insulting and obviously people have NO IDEA about what Mexico is really like.

I know for sure that my fiance would never want to marry me if I were so ignorant and misinformed about his culture and country.

This opinion may make me super unpopular around here, but so be i!

I'm sure he would have told you if that was part of the exam, kitkat! Perhaps through tears!

Yeah he is worried about the cold, but it looks like we'll have August and September in RI.

TijuanaHilton...if he does have to get naked while a hot doctor checks his tats, just tell him, "Think of grandma, think of grandma." He should be all set.

I just hope that I have enough time and $ to take him through my favorite parts of the country, Arizona and New Mexico.

I was thinking the prostate comment might look weird if you didn't remember the discussion about it before.

I had told him that the medical consisted of a COMPLETE check, and he told me that he'd do just fine staying in Mexico, thank you very much.

I am excited, but will have to wait until June to go! The expiration date on my NOA2 is 7/7/07.

Oh, btw, I was only kidding when I told him that, but he took it awfully seriously. Yes, horrible, I know.

Just called the NVC and they sent the petition to Juarez today!!!!

Edgar actually believes it's happening now. I did finally tell him the truth about the prostate check at the medical exam.

Well, we could do the end of June then! Four months from March 7 is the first week in July, but even asking for an extension of a month makes me nervous. Why, I don't know, but it does.

I'm reading up on everyone's timelines after receipt of the NOA2 and it seems like a VERY short period of time in most cases. What is the time limit on Packet four? Say for example that everything goes as it did for many of you, and I receive packet 4 in early May. Can we wait until July or August to go to Juarez? I have to meet him there as he wouldn't be able to navegate Juarez alone, and I need to bring him the rest of the paperwork, but July would be the earliest I could get away. Is that okay?

Luckily I'm an ESOL teacher so I know the ins and outs of getting him into an appropriate class. The non-profit I work for actually runs a day class literally a block away from where I live. From what I've seen of my students, Edgar would prob be in an advanced class...not that I'm much help. He's been with an English teacher for 6.5 years and had to learn English at work.

I'm pretty fast too, and very adapatble (although I may b%tch and moan) and Edgar isn't so much. The thing I'm worried about most is that he gets really down when he's not working, so it'll be my job to make sure he's busy.

I was explaining the next steps in the process to Edgar the other night, and he got upset when I told hi about the medical. He asked if they wouldn't accept a mordida to get around having his blood taken. I told him he better not try. He successfully gave them 25 pesos to get out of having blood taken for his tarjeta de salud last week. For such a macho Mexican, he sure is being a nancy boy! :)

At least he's now fixated on the blood test and has forgotten about when I told him they also require a cavity search.

Am I cruel?

Bdesj: No way! I quickly glanced through a website about getting married in Nevada, and I thought it said SS# was required. Well, well, then maybe my thoughts of renting a car in El Paso and driving to Nevada can still work! I figure that once we cross into El Paso, we might as well go somewhere cool. I was thinking Lake Tahoe because it seems more picturesque. Nevada is the only state in that area of the country I haven't visited.

All of this is VERY exciting!

I just get all freaked out reading all of the interview questions...if he gets all nervous and can't answer questions about my life here (ie where I went to school, the address he'll live at, stuff like that), could he get denied? Life on the other side means nothing to him, he has no context about any of it...he wouldn't know the difference if we lived in New Jersey or Rhode Island, but he knows me inside out.

Is it really possible that he'd get denied for not knowing these things even while sitting there with a photo album full of pictures from the last 7 years?

I need a Valium...this point isn't even for a couple of months.

I'm guessing that the police letter you are talking about is the standard "antecedentes no penales" form that many jobs in Mexico require? If so, it should be super easy to get, as my boyfriend has gone down to the station a few times for it. I can't remember though if he's gotten it right then or has had to wait for it.

At least I hope it's nothing more complicated than the antecedentes no penales!

US Citizenship General DiscussionOut of Status?
I won't be posting in this forum on behalf of hubby for quite a few years, but I do have a question from a client at work.

His GC expired in November, and he hadn't submitted his papers and $$ for naturlaization beforehand,

I imagine that he is now considered out of status, but I'm wondering if that would be forgiven if he does get his papers in for naturalization.

Thoughts?

I was told by the National Visa Center sent my petition to GUZ in southern China on August 9. I tried calling the number but could not reach a real person. All were automated responses. One of them had a Chinese woman speaking English, but I could not understand what she was saying.

If I send an email to them, will they respond? Does anyone have their email address?

You know how many of us read and study every piece of related information for our situations?
Well, I was reading for what my Chinese fiancee needs before interview. It mentions a Passsport, good for more than 6 months after arrival to usa????
I have not seen that yet. I thought the Visa she would be gettinging to come here is the same as passport? Please advise?

I know when I went to China for the first time, I was only allowed a passport for 6 months from the USA. Will this cause a possible delay in our case if she has NO passport or only a passport for 6 months?...thanks...todd
