US Citizenship General Discussion	Citizenship denied	Before I filed for my application, I was in certainty that I was eligible. I consulted my lawyer (for my husband's petition), and he said according to USCIS, you could apply after 30 months of continuous residence. I thought I was cleared. I went by with that. But according to the decision letter they sent me, you could apply after 4 years and 1 day, which was on or after July 21, 2010 for me. They made the decision July 20th. I was a day short, I guess. I mailed my 2nd application same day after I went to my local field office to ask if there was anything else I could do or if they would reconsider. They said, I could file for an appeal, which costs about $600, but it was not a guarantee. Hopefully, I'd get approved this time around. Paid for another $675 including NEW biometrics (USCIS said I need new biometrics because this is going to be a different case file "sigh"), and re-take the test again. US Citizenship General Discussion	Citizenship denied	I passed my interview last week, but when the IO reviewed my documents, she said she couldn't make the decision at that time. I stayed for more that 1 year outside the US (June 2005-July 2006) for school. Yesterday, I received the decision (dated July 20), they denied my application but they also said I could re-apply (I'm eligible to apply) on or after July 21, 2010, which was the same date I received the decision. I don't know what to do. I'm rushing over my naturalization so I could get my husband here as soon as possible. My baby and I haven't seen him in a yr. Does that means I have to go through the whole naturalization process again (send application, wait for months for interview, take exam, etc) even if I passed the test and everything? US Citizenship General Discussion	N-400 July 2010 Applicants	Ok, went for my interview last Monday, Oct 4. Had a terrible experience with the local field office AGAIN!!! Went there early (after dropping my baby off to the sitter), when it was my time, they called me and when we got to his office, he said: You're gonna get mad at me (I was like, oh please not again). You're next on my list to be interviewed but when I looked back to grab your files, it's not there. I checked and it's still at NBC. I filed for an expedite request so they'll send your files ASAP. I'm very sorry, it's my fault because I didn't check. I should have been able to call you to cancel your interview today. It will probably take them a week to mail your files, and you will receive a call from us to reschedule your interview. Again, I'm sorry. I was speechless!!! First they denied my application because I applied a day early (decision made July 21, eligibility date July 22), then this! US Citizenship General Discussion	N 400 April 2010 Applicants	Kim, if you reside outside the US for more than 6 months it will count as breaking your residency and you will need to start counting again towards your 30 months. From your post it seems that you need to start counting from July 2006 your 30 months of physical presence. Either way, I suggest your consult a lawyer. Good luck. Dan Yeah, I thought it was 30 months 'cause I counted before I filed for my application. I made sure I was eligible, but in the decision letter they sent me, they said 4 years and 1 day.. and that I am eligible to apply on of after July 21st.. the decision date was July 20th.. I was 1 day short.. I mailed my second application after I went to my local field office and told me there's no way they'd reconsider even if it was just 1 day.. The immigration officer told me that she couldn't make a decision yet because she needs to review my documents first.. US Citizenship General Discussion	If your original nationality on the certificate is wrong?	Thanks for NickD and motu's opinions. I simply want my personal identity information on my permanent legal certificate is correct and true and match my other legal papers. After all, I had sworn to tell nothing but true. Taiwan does allow dual nationality. Being honest about where I originally came from won't affect my loyalty to U.S.A. In fact, I just found out one document (http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/94675.pdf) that was released by U.S. Department of State Foreign Affairs that provides guidance on writing an applicant's place of birth in a passport. But I am sure is it suitable to the issue of former nationality. How long will I have to wait for a new certificate if I make a correction on my certificate at the oath ceremony, anyone know? US Citizenship General Discussion	If your original nationality on the certificate is wrong?	During my citizenship interview, my interviewer changed my nationality from Taiwan into China. I disagreed with this change, so my interviewer said he would leave it the way I write down on the form-400. My nationality on my G.C. is shown as " Taiwan", I don't know why this interviewer had problem with that. Question, I will take my oath next month. If I find out my original nationality on my naturalization certificate is not right after I have surrendered my G.c. to USCIS, what could I do to correct the mistake on the certificate? But the ASC is the place where you do your fingerprint, and the field office is the place where you go for your citizenship interview and Infopass. But there were 2 men didn't show up at the ceremony, so only 23 people swore in to become new citizens. The ceremony started at 8:30 and it ended at 9 AM.
