i am filinf for K1. in the downloaded instructions for where to send it gives eith Dallas, texas or Lewisvilee if express mail. i was going to send it to Lewisville, becase i will send it expresss and certified mail, so someone can sign for it. now my fiance sees something about Vermont Service Center? i live in Rhod ZIsland and Vermont is much closer? but it was not listed on 129f instructions form. help please??????? thanks todd

my fiance liu is concerned becasue when i flew to china in september, i used my itineraries for going through customs and to the planes. i asked for a paper ticket and was denied times two./we are filing for a k1.i am going back to shiyan in ealry january. she swears, "other" finaces are able to get actuall tickets, why cant i?? i will ask at airports i am in but how important is an actual tickets versus an electronic itinerary???please help:-) thanks....toddps....great site

we are still a few months from sending in K1 until after my second visit in january. Much of it is done. However, i am trying to look ahead a bit as to the format to send it? originally, i thouhgt i would have both copies done at a Staples. have it bound together. very professional and tight. then i was thinking, heaven for bid, they needed to make copies of something? how would they get it out if it was all bound togehter as one?

we have not filed K1 yet. will do so after second visit in january 2011. what i would like to do is be there for the interview with her. however, i need at least 2 months ahead to get time off from work for it. is it actually possible when they give you the date for interview that you can request a date further in the future???? it is important to know as i need to use the limited vacation time i have very carefually...thanks as always:-)...todd

we continue to get our k1 petition as tight as possible.we now have a very clear, consise letter [thanks to my mother being on board:-)]from the minister at her church who i spoke to about marrying us:-) she has written a letter for us that states she will marry us withing 90 days of liu's arrival in the usa! how great is that??? it has to help "prove" an existence of a "real" relationship? any thoughts?thanks again....todd

i went to see her and her daughter sept 14 to sept 24.
i am returning January 3, 2011 to January 14 2011.
will return in mid april.
we have all of chats and emails. plane boarding passes, etc.
we will file in late january.
i figure interview by July 2011?
if that is the case, we would have known each other a year by the time of the interview.
that seems like a good amount of time to me?
what do you guys and gals think?

we finally got our K 1 approved:-) However, on the I-797 form it says it was sent to the listed consulate.Yet no consulate is listed?? when i finally was able to reach a human being at the Vermont Service Center, she said that K 1's go directly to the consulate when they send us a I-797. There is a number above my fiancees name, but it does not have GUZ in front of it?

congratulations to both of you:-) we received ours on july 26 from Vermont Service Center as well.
However, ours read this" "the above petition has been approved.and forwarded to the listed consulate. HUH?

There was NO listed consulate! When i finally reached a Human being at the Vermont Center, she said that the K 1's
do not need to go the the National Visa Center and that they go directly to the Conulate? I posted about it here and was told NO, all petitions go to the NVC.

So, where is my petition? At the NVC or on its way To China, GUZ? I would feel so much better if they actually had listed a Consulate, like the document stated.

I am a nurse and if I would run my unit the way they run this process, I would have lost my licencse years ago!"=_

After days of trying to reach an actual human being at the vermont Service Center, i finally did so.
After explaining to her that my K1 visa application stated "The above petition has been approved, and
forwarded to the listed Consulate." No consulate was listed!!!

So, I explained this to "the lady" at the Vermont Service Center. She stated:" K 1's go directly to the Consulate, not to the NVC.C 1's and other applictions go to the NVC"

I could live with that if they ahd assigned a GUZ #[for China} but, of course, they didnt.

So, now we wait. Not knowing where our petition is.It is such an inefficient way of doing bussiness.

Any ideas? thanks...todd

That is because I posted right away with my frustration. Of course, our application was perfect. I put in the correct birthday as I have copies of the packet we snet in. The point is, until they "get to the email I sent" they will not give me any information at all. So, I have to wait for them to receive attatchements in email, then go over every line with them on the phone. Because if they made such a huge mistake on something as easy as a birth date, how many more mistakes are there?

The good news is I know they have it:-) So, that part is awesome for sure!....todd

I just contacted the Nation Viusa Center. I was asked for my date of birth. Of course, I stated it, and was told that is what is NOT ON FILE!!!!!

What a HUGE blunder with something so basic! It looks like a trip to the copy store with my pasport and birth certificate is in order. They say once email that I can ask questions about my case. I want them to go over every, piece of it to see if there are any more errors!!!!!! First, Vermosnt says it sent it to thr "above listed consulate" where the was NONE listed and now this. It is infuraiating how imcompentent some of these peiople are!!

It's such a good feeling that it's almost ridiculous :rolleyes:


After a long "bottom" flight from Amsterdam to Iceland, Iceland to JFK, JFk to Pittsburgh, I am finally home. As you can see, JFK was my POE. During my flights I was soooooo nervous, but I learned that as soon as I was questioned by the Officer, my confidence showed up :star:

Our plane landed as first from other International flights, so there was no line :thumbs: . The woman said I can choose one Officer and I walked to a desk with a guy that seemed very nice to me, lol! And he was. I told him that I am a K1 and showed him my Visa. He asked for the big envelope and he looked thru it and put some stamps in it. He then asked me to follow him to an Immigration Officer.

I had to sit down and wait for them to call my name, thank goodness I was the only one there so I waited for like 5-10 min or so.
The Officer called my name and started to ask questions:



OFFICER: Your access got denied May 2010, why?!
ME: I explained that I travelled to the US before that time and never had to show anything, and that time I didn't bring any proof either.
OFFICER: So that's the only reason why your access got denied?
ME: I told him that I wasn't honest about my relationship with Aaron that time. I said that he was friend, instead of, at that time, my boyfriend :bonk:
OFFICER: Have you met him before your access got denied?
ME: I told him: like I said earlier, I've been to the US before to meet him. So yes!
OFFICER: At that time, was it your intention to marry him?
ME: I said no, if I really wanted to marry him on a B2 Visa, I would have married him during one of my visits.
OFFICER: Good answer.
OFFICER: So, during the time you were working at this company?
ME: Yes
OFFICER: What does your fiance do for a living?!
ME: I told him what my fiance is doing for a living
OFFICER: Is this the address you are going to stay, and is it Aaron's address?
ME: YES
OFFICER: Who decided to get married, you or Aaron?
ME: I told the Officer that we BOTH decided to get married
OFFICER: Very good answer
OFFICER: You know you need to get married within 90 days, right?
ME: I told him that we are going to get married by the end of this month.
OFFICER: You are all settled, and good luck and welcome in the USA


It all took +/- 20 min (included the waiting) :dance: So, I can say it was a breeze!

It has been a long, sometimes rough, year. But it was WORHT IT!!!!

So a few days ago we received our text/email confirmation notifying us that our petition had been sent to Vermont Service Center for processing. I've heard about terribly long wait times over the last year. Has it been as bad recently? Can any other Canadian filers comment on wait times through VSC?

we were right at the 5 month mark when they sent us and RFE. then about 3 weeks to approve our petition. then sent to NVC, where someone, i do not know which agency, had my birthday wrong, so i could not get any info. sent in birthd certificate and passport and 2 weeks, had application sent to china:-)

so, i think be patient until the 5th nmonth and if it goes one or two more weeks, strat calling the VSC.....todd

I posted on this some tiime ago when I was frustrated that our package wasn't making it to the Embassy. http://www.visajourn...hinese-customs/ If you can get through my whining some folks posted useful information. Don't waste your time tracking it by DHL because packages leave there everyday and you have no way of knowing which one is yours.

The best advice I have been given on this site was to call DOS. They can give you the "time ticks" that tell you what's happening with your petition. If I had been doing that all along I could have saved a lot of time.

my notification said: "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate", which was confirmed by the customer service agent.

Mine said the same thing, although there was no consulate listed. Then i called and was told it went right to the conulate in China! It went to the NVC.

Now,just to show ou just how bad the VSC is, I sent them an email about my 129f about a month ago.Today, i received an email back, dated yesterday, that my petition was still at VSC! So, of course, i call the NVC right away and they say they sent my application to China on Aug 9TH.

So, the VSC is telling people the wrong information. What can we do about it?....todd

I was told by the NVC that our application was sent to GUZ on August 9. I tried calling there, and could not find anyone to talk to. All automated responses.
One of the choices had a chinese woman speaking English but I could not understand what she was saying.

Is there a website I will be able to see if they, in fact, received our application?
