Middle East and North AfricaReturning Petitions to the United States via 221g

Do any of the rest of you have to deal with not being able to talk too much about work? If so, how does your spouse handle it? How do you handle it? This is the first time I've had to really deal with this since I've been single most of the time I've worked here, and Mustapha never cared about my work so he didn't ask questions or talk to me about it. Also, I didn't have the same level of responsibility when I was married to him that I have now.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I cant tell my honey the specifics of my job either. No names, no places, no dates, no nothing. It can be quite frustrating, especially when you are trying to relate a humourous story from work. (Such as encountering a client lacking the sense God gave a shovel.) Once you get past the language hurdle, then you have to omit half the identifying information, and throw in the fact that he doesnt exactly understand what I do for a living anyway, and you're left with a blurry afterimage of what used to be a story so funny you almost wet yourself laughing when it started. All this explaining, without really explaining anything after all. It like saying you have twelve toes, sometimes you'd rather just keep your shoes on.

I get hit from both sides, too. I also have immediate family with a security clearance so strict, they're not even allowed to speak with foreign nationals. It can make for trying times when it comes to keeping the lines of communication open.

But Ahmed is pretty understanding about it. His mastery of English improves rapidly and there will come a day when he will be able to put 2 and 2 together and not feel like he has been (unintentionally) left out of the loop. I suspect the same will be true for your SO, given a little time and patience.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFingerprints for K-1 apps

Fingerprints are required for the beneficiary during the process. Sometimes USCIS asks the petitioner to give fingerprints, although these are uncommon. There is nothing you can do ahead of time however. You can't preemptively submit fingerprints. If fingerprints are required, they will be asked for.

They also mentioned on the USCIS website that fingerprint fees are to be paid upfront. Since I am the petitioner, should I go ahead and pay the fingerprint fees with my petition fee and wait for them to contact my fiance about getting his prints done?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFingerprints for K-1 apps
Hello All,

Im relatively new to the site, just became a member last month, and I am really enjoying everything this site has to offer :) . My fiance and I are in the process of applying for a K1 visa and I will be mailing the petition in the next week or so. Has anyone else that has done a K1 know about the need for fingerprints? I checked the USCIS website about fingerprints and all it says is that "some" immigration forms require fingerprint cards to be done, but it doesnt specify which ones. Are we required to have our fingerprints done to get the K1 visa? Ive been trying to get a hold of a real live person on the phone at USCIS for two days, but its like trying to move molasses uphill in January. Tips/Advice?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDescribe how we met
Does anyone have any advice on how to style the "How we met" letter for the I129F? How much is too much information? Like most couples, we met on the internet before we met in person and most of our history is via the net. Should the letter be a certain length?

Thanks all :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F #16 Fiance's native alphabet
I am a little concerned about filling out the boxes on question 16 of the I-129F "If your fiance's alphabet uses other than Roman letters, write his name and address abroad in the native alphabet" My fiance is in Morocco where postal letters are usually addressed in French, so no big deal there. But his native alphabet is Arabic, and Im not very good at writing in Arabic yet. Should I leave it blank? Should I try to fill it in with the appropriate Arabic characters? Or does it not really apply because his country uses both French and Arabic?

You guys are so wonderfully supportive!

I'm still completely useless. I spent all day yesterday telling everyone I met about what I was doing. That's a big step for someone who never even tells her mom about the men she's involved with
I'm more than excited... I'm just so happy that we're finally on our way! It's more real now that we've actualy put in some work toward it... more real even than the day he proposed.

:D Thanks for all the well-wishing. this site as been more than helpful as we've prepared our packet... I already feel very at home here.

and Yassmine! 1I've got my fingers crossed for you two, as well :D

Cheers me dear, Im only a thread away :)

This is a fantastic site, isnt it? Ive never been so welcomed in my whole life. Hip-hip Hooray for VJ

I know the feeling. I sent mine off last week and I actually did a happy little jig when I got the certified mail receipt. Imagine, so much fuss over a little green piece of tagboard. But every step is one day closer to being with your honey!

Cheers! I wish you the best of luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDigital Evidence
Ahmed and I do most of our talking via chat, with an occasional email, so that's where most of our evidence comes from too. Talking everyday via chat and email creates quite a large data log, and its hard to decide which conversations best represent your case. I printed 6 random emails and 7 random chat logs for various months and checked them to make sure they didnt contain anything questionable (i.e. comments that were explicit or private, or things that could be misconstrued), and just printed the first couple of pages rather than a 3-hour conversation (in the interest of space). I made sure to circle the time, date, and the to/from portions on the chat logs to make it easier for the adjudicator to read. I felt pretty comfortable with what I sent, since it was a good sample of the big picture. Hope this helps you out a bit. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresForms Needed
You're on the right track. All you need to begin your K-1 is the I-129F (filled out by the petitioner) and the G-325A (one set filled out by you and one set filled out by your fiance). You'll eventually need more forms, but not for awhile. I would advise hitting the K-1 guide, even though its a long read it's really worth it. Give a shout once you've read it and we'll help you along the way. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGetting short term medical insurance.....?
Ive worked in the hospital billing and coding business for several years and we often have cases of people being added to a policy in the middle of a plan year due to birth, adoption, or marriage. In most cases the insurance company will retro the coverage back to the date the patient's staus changed, provided the patient has been added to the policy within 30 days of the life-event (birth, adoption, marriage). Example: Baby is born on January 1st, but mom doesnt call her HR dept to add the baby to the plan until January 15th. As long as the dependent is added to the plan within the 30-day window the insurance company (in most cases) will cover the dependent from the day they became a dependent (husband, wife, son, daughter, whatever).

I would wager that your spouse-to-be would get that retro coverage if needed. But like I say, some insurance companies are picky, so I would call your HR rep or your insurance benefits department and ask them about this type of coverage.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325A dilemma

My fiancee (in Russia) has been doing some off thebooks work for the last couple of years for a company headquartered in a third country. This work is not reflected in her Work Book (official record of employment) and we were wondering if she should put her complete work history into her G-325A. Of course if she did this would contradict her official record...

Id say omit it on the G-325A. My fiance also did some 'off the books' work in the last few years, but nothing that could really be reported as employment. He put "NONE" on his G-325A. We felt it would have been more complicated to explain the bits and pieces of odd jobs he did, some of which were only for a short while and looked more like job-hopping than anything substantial.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEvidence of relationship?
On mine I am sending my fiance just the copy of what was in the original petition packet. It took awhile to wade through the evidence we had and choose the best examples to create the petition packet, so I know how you can second guess your self on those decisions. I decided not to send copies/originals of anything not included in the original petition, I figured it would just be too confusing. I am focusing on sending new evidence to support the ongoing relationship.

That being said, if you feel like you still want to submit every shred of evidence you have, old or new, then by all means go for it :) . I would just advise that you put it together in an organized manner so its easy to read and you can access specific peices with ease.

Hope this helps! Best of luck to you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPay money in Guangzhou?

I can't be sure how things work in China- best check with the embassy there.
I'm going through Korea and there are similar instructions.
I believe the second fee you mentioned (380 USD, to be paid at the interview) is for a different type of visa.
If it works like Korea, you pay the fee (before the interview) at one of the banks listed, and you get a receipt which you then bring to the interview as proof of your payment.
But check with your embassy....

This question is SPICIFIC TO GUANGZHOU CHINA,K1 FIANCE VISA.
Information about countries other than China is not useful.

Perhaps you should go to a region-specific forum http://www.visajourn...hp?showforum=94 . It was not necessary to attack Shannon for being helpful.

Yup, gotta send it to TSC (if thats the office that presides over your area). Ours was also forwarded from TSC to CSC and I get all the correspondence from CSC. It does take it a little while to get bounced around, though. Ours took only 1 day to get to the TSC and was marked as received on 3-22, but didnt get received by CSC until 3-28 and that's the receipt date that our case number got tagged with. Kind of annoying, but I guess it's better than the petitions sitting in stacks in Texas when they dont have time to process them.

Okay so new at all of this what does touched mean and how are you tracking your progress? I only have the refrence # and was wondering how exactly to track everything.

Touched is when USCIS updates your case status. You can check it out online at www.uscis.gov

I havent heard of this practice either, but if Im wrong, someone please speak up. You might want to check with others that are going through the same consulate and ask if they have seen this pattern. I know my consulate is a real PITA when it comes to reviewing evidence; every consulate has their quirks.

I also agree with Limey's logic, how will you know when the visa will be issued? It's difficult to plan a plane trip without a decent timetable.

In any event, good luck at your interview! I hope it goes well :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespicture question

Just the opposite, I think you should send it in because where your spouse is interviewing (US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City). The ideal time to submit such evidence is with the I-130, since that ship has already sailed in your case, this is a second chance to submit items so they are part of the file that will be seen before the interview. I would have been remiss if I did not mention the likelihood of NVC processing slowing as a result, however, I've seen enough posts from other members who have had to deal with the HCMC Consulate to conclude that it's important to frontload a file that will end up there.

However you ultimately proceed is up to you.

HCMC Consulate is so tough to get pink slip nowadays. Thank you for your advice, I think i will send with DS-230.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespicture question

Yes you can. Be aware that by doing so will likely slow down NVC processing where it would not have otherwise done so. With that being said and given your spouse will interview at the Consulate in HCMC, it's best to ensure that items like that are part of the file prior to the interview.

so it's best not to send in, right? I don't want to slow down NVC processing.
tle206MaleVietnam2011-07-31 23:20:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedurespicture question

Yes, I just send 10 marraige photoes with nothing at the back and am in the NVC process. The I-130 process is all about the US citizen - whether he is a citizen or not and whether his back ground is alright and basic information about the marraige - like copy of marraige certificate and/or copies affidavits from relatives and friends, ....

It is the US consulate in the foreign country that will bother about the genuinity of the marraige - will ask questions; check the marraige, honeymoon, reception photos/ albums; any mix in the financial matters like joint accounts, joint lease,....; and details of continuing relationship like emails, chats, trips to foreign country....

And you will be required to send the beneficiary's original or certified Birth certificate and Original or certified marraige certificate, Original Police clearance certificte/s at the actual visa application (DS-230) after your I-130 petition is approved at USCIS (takes around 90 days) and sent to NVC for further processing.

You can also write something you like back of the marraige photos - it shouldn't hurt at all. Bottom line is don't panic - read others experiences in the forum, which helps.

when I filed I-130 petition i didn't submit any marriage photo. Can I still send in with DS-230 form? Also can i include our timeline too?
