You want your husband to e-mail the DS-2030 to NVC. When they receive this you'll be able to pay the AOS fee. The type of I-864 (a, ez, etc...) you need to fill out depends on your situation. Have you looked into income requirements (google I-864p) to see if you qualify to sponsor by yourself or if you need a co-sponsor?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support Question - please advise!
The problem isn't if it CAN be liquidated. The problem is that it's ABROAD. How can the U.S collect the funds for that house if your wife uses means-tested benefits and you get sued? If you have further questions, you could consult an immigration lawyer. Maybe they'd be able to clear this up for you (and the rest of us as well if you let us know) :)

You need a co-sponsor. If you do not have the assets, you must find someone else willing to help you out. No ifs, ands, or buts. When your paperwork gets to the NVC stage, you have one year to complete it. I really suggest finding somebody that can help you out. I was in the same spot as you but I finally got it sorted out. I know how stressful this must be. Please hang in there and ask everyone you know in the U.S.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC RFE's
I have a sort of silly question.
So, I got an RFE yesterday for not having had signed the second part of I-864a, and a second false RFE for IV packet.
Does NVC usually send all RFE's in one e-mail per packet? Do they review one packet completely, pick out what's wrong and then send an e-mail or do they just stop at the first mistake and send out the letter, keep going, and repeat?

I don't want to get my hopes up if the latter is the case...

Go ahead and send that letter in as soon as you get your case number. I wonder if you can just e-mail to them too. That would sure make things speed up.

I've heard mixed reviews on sending extra things that NVC doesn't ask for. Some say it's a good way to let them know that you have a bonafide relationship, etc... On the other hand, I heard it slows down the process. I personally would only send the required things. If the interviewing officer wants to see more evidence though, you definitely should have it available then.

Well, you pay the I-130 fee= $420, the IV fee=$404, the AOS fee=$88, the medical and the vaccinations if needed. Then you should budget for the trip to interview, the stay (if you live outside of the city), and the flights.

I heard this a couple of weeks ago. What the above posters have said is correct, they don't want you to sign in black because it almost looks like it's photocopied.
I just sent both of my packets today and almost every signature was in a black pen. I hope they're not getting too strict on this and will let it fly. I'm sorry this is going to take a bit longer for you =(

I have like, 2 wedding pictures because honestly, a camera was the last thing on our minds. I'm definitely taking other pictures of trips we have taken together, or just around town. I'm going to have other paperwork go along with those pictures. I don't think they would make a big deal about wedding pictures since they already have proof that you're married (marriage certificate). Please do take other proof with you though! You should be fine B-)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBogota Interview.....
I have read where it says that the USC can write a letter, notarize it, send it to the Colombian consulate, have them apostille it, they send it back to you and you have to send it to the beneficiary. My husband knows people at DAS, and they are just getting it for us (of course, we still have to pay the 43,000.00 peso fee). In Bucaramanga it takes a month to get. I don't know about other cities in Colombia, but I would check on this A.S.A.P. The embassy may or may not ask for it but if they do and you don't have it, you have to wait a little longer to be with your honey. Better safe than sorry. :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a Signature Question

I'm confused by your timeline. You haven't finished the IR1 process but also have a timeline for a completed N-400. Which is it? Are you finished and the immigrant is now a USC? Or are you still not finished with the IR1 (married more than 2 years).. if so, there's still time to get an RFE but most likely he'll just sign it at the interview.

I'm doing the IR-1 for my husband. The N-400 was for me.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp please!! confused!

I 864a is required if you file your tax return together. It is required to get permission of sponsor wife.

what if the wife (of the co-sponsor) doesn't make any money? Would my letter suffice? Would it be pointless to fill out another I-864a for the co-sponsor's wife (who also filled out an I-864a)? I have a few weeks until our interview but I don't want any set backs.
kali1229FemaleColombia2011-10-09 22:19:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp please!! confused!

I'm confused......Do you and your stepfather live in the same house? If you do then you were right...You fill out the I-864 and he fills out the I-864a and your income can be counted together because you are in the same household BUT! If he does not live with you then you did everything wrong......If he does not live with Then you must fill out an I-864 and he must fill out an I-864 as well not the I-864a....and if that is the case and you do not live in the same household then you can not mix your incomes together. That is why I was delayed(221-g).....I thought me and my cousin(sponsor) could mix our incomes and have enough to sponsor my husband but me and my cousin do not live together so that didnt work and the NVC said nothing. They said our paperwork was fine and sent it on to the embassy. When we went for our interview the CO told us our sponsor did NOT make enough money and we had to leave and figure something out. I called my cousin ASAP and we talked about our options. He said he would add his wife with and I-864a and that worked because my cousin and his wife live in the same house and share an income. So I am the original sponsor(I-864) but I do not make enough money :( so I went to my cousin because we do not live in the same household he had to fill out the I-864 as well but when he added his wife because they DO live in the same household she had to fill out the I-864a sorry if this is confusing I am by no means an expert lol but that worked.....We sent the documents to the embassy through DHL and a few days later they called my husband to say "All of your paperwork checked out but I am afraid you were put into AP you must wait for us to contact you" my husband asked "so the paperwork we sent you 4 days ago is fine?" and she said yes that is my story

Okay, great. Thank you for your response. I do live with my parents still  Until I get my husband over here, we'll probably stay.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelp please!! confused!

You are exactly right....our original sponsor did not make enough and we needed to add his wife with the I-864a

Hey, can you please explain what happened? My step-father is my co-sponsor so he filled out the I-864a but since my mom didn't work, I didn't fill out anything else (she wrote a letter acknowledging responsibility along with my step dad). My husband's interview is in November and I'm doing the finishing touches on the information I need to send him (new I-864a-step dad got a better job, and we both definitely meet eligibility). I already bought my husband's plane ticket (about 3 weeks after his interview, JIC) and wish to not have any more delays. Your situation might help the rest of us out!

Thanks!
