Good luck with your husband`s appointment, Danielle.

I`m glad to hear about the Hotel Monaco- I saw their web page and another for a Hotel Impala and they both sounded reasonable. But it said $350 and $400 per night and I wasn`t positive that those prices were in Pesos. I know a lot of business is done in Dollars there even when it doesn`t involve gringos. We have an appointment on the 28th and I`m driving, so I need a place with secure parking too.

Cool, congratulations! The letter shouldn`t be too long. I`ve received two from CDJ in the past month or so. Both were mailed from El Paso and arrived within a week of the postmark date.

Yucateca, I think that depends on where your interview is (sorry, I only recently started following this thread and I don`t know where you`re going). As far as I know, everything at the consulate goes on in Spanish. However, before we went there, we failed one interview here at our local office. At that interview we were told to arrange for a translator if one or both of us didn`t speak English. My wife`s English was kind of "iffy" at that time, but we went by ourselves anyway and the officer let me help a little bit. I don`t think I was really supposed to, but I was careful not to appear to be coaching her answers and he let it slide.

Congratulations, Cutie and AgRo!

156K ? You guys must have different forms for K-Visas. I know that I just noticed CDJ sent me an outdated DS-230 and I planned to use the newer one from foia simply because it`s easier for my wife to download that than for me to fax the one they sent here. For the financial proof, don`t you use the 864? Good luck!

For you folks who carry two passports, I take it the US doesn`t care about that? Have you ever been inspected upon entry and the inspecting officer saw your other passport? Just wondering because the topic came up on another forum that I frequent and nobody there had experience in the matter.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTransfer of approved K1 petition from Abu Dhabi to Manila
Hi All VJ Members,

We're hoping that someone could help us on these and wondering if someone has experienced the same.

Our petition was approved last Aug. 13 but it was sent to Abu Dhabi instead of Manila. I used to work in Dubai and was still there when we started the paperwork. We used my Dubai address as my current address to be completely honest with my current location and put on US Embassy in Manila for my interview location. Unfortunately, our papers were still sent to Abu Dhabi. I already got my case number and interview date which was for Dec., but there's no way that I could do it there since I already quit my job and went back to the Philippines. We sent a formal request to Manila to be forwarded to Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi confirmed that they have sent the physical file last Sept. 25 by diplomatic pouch and will take about 2-4 weeks before Manila receive it. We're calling USEM twice a week, last Friday we called again but according to them they still don't have the file yet. My fiance and I are really getting nervous about the waiting time since our approved petition is only valid until Dec. 12, 2012 as per the validity date indicated on the NOA2.

Does anyone know if by any chance there's a way to track a diplomatic pouch and how long it really takes before Manila receives it?
If ever, what will happen if the petition reached its validity date and we don't have our file yet? Do we need to file another petition or we could extend the validity date in USEM?
Can I schedule my medical and interview even though Manila doesn’t have my file yet?

Thank you so much in advance :)

I did call NVC tonight. They told me to wait 4-6 weeks for case number. I will be calling every day for said number. I know it won't take that long.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaNOA2
After waiting for 6 months as a Permanent Resident since I filed for my husband's I-130, I finally got my NOA2! I actually didn't expect to hear anything. I just became a U.S citizen on the 20th of May and sent the letter with the changes (I also changed my last name to my husband's) on monday, it wasn't supposed to get to CSC until tomorrow...Today I got my NOA2 and it was actually dated for the 20th of May.

Question 1: Do I need to resend my change of status from permanent resident to citizen to NVC now? (I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this...)

Question 2: What forms should I have ready? I have DS-230 filled out, but my husband still needs to sign. I already sent him a template for e-mailing DS-3032, we're just waiting for case number. I will be calling tomorrow morning. My I-864 is filled out, I already requested transcripts for the past three years from IRS. I need to get a co-sponsor, I will be working on that tomorrow.

Question 3: I sent in my original birth certificate (I am also from Colombia) and I know I can get another one at my "notaria" but to have my husband send me things is kind of a hassle (how do you all send things?). Will I need it to send with packet 3?

Question 4: Is there anything else I need to know at this point? Please advice me my fellow Colombians (or Colombian significant others)!

I think they take the phone number in case something happens to the box (or when people forget to pick packages up, they can call. Shipping in Colombia is very expensive. I would assume it's a little more pricy if she's going with DHL or FedEx. My husband shipped me a big box of goodies about a year and a half ago and it arrived through USPS (I believe). It was about 300,000 pesos. I don't know how much it would be for what you're needing though (Maybe $50 dollars?). Maybe someone else can answer you a little better =)

Gracias

I have never had any issues whatsoever with Vonage. I talk to my husband often through skype and Vonage. With Vonage I pay about $30/mo. for unlimited calling to landlines. A new feature that they just added to their world plans that I absolutely love is that you can link up your cell phone and make calls through there as if you were using your landline. It's awesome. I give Vonage a 10/10.

Mononoke I need your help! This has nothing to do with IVs but that board seems to be so slow.

My brother had a tourist visa interview on November 29th. At that point he had thought that he had been denied. On friday he got an e-mail from BogotaNIVAdminProcess@state.gov telling him that his administrative processing had finished. He needed to bring his passport on the 24th of January to the embassy.

Does this sound possible? Does this e-mail sound right to you? Did he get approved afterall? They're not asking for anything other than him bringing his passport on that date and this email. It also provides a phone number to call in case he needed to reschedule or he could reply back that email address.

My brother plans on calling tomorrow and sending an e-mail as well to make sure that this isn't some sort of scheme, but it really doesn't sound like it to me. I just think we need reassurance that this is real and he really got his visa. Or not?

Help.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)I-601 Waiver & Ciudad Juarez Questions
Lisa, have you ever checked the I-601 forum on I2US? The forum base is much smaller than VJ, but there are a lot more with Mexico cases. There are maybe 60 people waiver cases through CDJ who hang out there and post timelines at least to some extent. I think there are two Feb filers there who are still waiting and one Jan filer (all with waivers entered in Mar, I think). Your case isn`t out of the ballpark, but it is a bit older than what most folks are looking at. Drop by and see us sometime.

Yes, good stuff regarding hardship letters on I2US. Look for anything that says HSL. Don`t underestimate the importance of preparing and documenting your letter- approvals used to be almost automatic there, but that isn`t the case anymore. Well presented applications are still being approved (slowly) but a lot are denied now, usually due to insuficient documentation. Good luck with your case!

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)CDJ waivers over 12 months
Hi. If any of you have been waiting a long time for decisions on waivers through Cd Juarez, please take a few minutes to read the posts starting on page eight of this thread:
http://www.immigrate...p=134271#134271
The final draft may be in reference to folks waiting xx months from submision date or xx months from entry date, so please speak up if you might be one of the cases they`re looking for. As was mentioned in the post, unity is strength. Mr Janssen seems to be genuinely concerned about filers, so hopefully it will start moving things along. Thank you.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Who receives the NOA's
For Canadian filers it might be different but DHS in Cd Juarez doesn`t send any NOAs. You have to call DHS to find out if/when the waiver was entered into the system, usually three to six weeks after submitting it. Then they don`t say anything until the case has been decided, then they send a letter with the decision to the address you give them on the "Agent of Choice" form. Finally (if the case was approved), the consulate sends a packet with an appointment date and information regarding the interview.

Wow - WHY NOT?? Sorry to hear Mexico takes SOOO long! I've been sort of averaging my own timeline for waivers with what I see on here when it comes to the London Embassy. Good luck.

Well, it isn`t really an immigration forum- it`s actually a forum dedicated to travelers in Cd Juarez, Chih., but a bunch of us ended up there to be able to keep in touch when the server at our regular site goes south.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)EWI underage to US, interview 05/07/07 in Honduras
The part about entering as a minor and TPC sounds right to me. While you`re under 18 you don`t accumulate illegal presence and my understanding is that TPC prevents it too, so there shouldn`t be a ban as long as you`ve been under TPC continuously since before you turned 18. But didn`t some kind of moratorium on visas from Honduras come up about six months ago due to too many false documents or something? You`re probably more informed about that than I am, so if I`m out in space, please don`t freak out about that part. Hopefully someone who knows more about TPC, AP, and whatever happened with Honduran visas will post.

I don`t know the answers you`re looking for, rebex.

There are a whole slew of authorized categories. For folks who don`t fall into those categories, I think there`s some kind of catch concerning SPENDING in Cuba rather than the actual travel making it impossible to go. Not sure, though- I got lost in the "legalize". Also, the regs apparently affect US resisents as well as USCs. Here`s the scoop:
