PhilippinesCFO before interview

Not a nice thing to say about my country but the same can be said about America, too.

You have me there. I hope that the elections next week straighten things out in the Philippines. It's very similar to the States. It will take decades of recovery to repair the undoings of the past 8-10 years...No offense intended, as I plan on retiring to the Philippines in the not so near future.

PhilippinesCFO before interview

And, don't be surprised if you'll be asked for your Cenomar and your husband's Legal Capacity to Marry, even if they know that you are already married they're still gonna ask for these anyway. It's ridiculous!

 So am I going to go sit in the Embassy for another 4 hours to get the affidavit? And...how can she get another CENOMAR if she is registered as married now? This is insane.....

PhilippinesCFO before interview

you mind telling me exactly what document she brought with her so I can get Rose to start collecting all of this.....tnx

I've been told that it is recommended to take everything that is in the Interview package. I have heard that they will ask for original copies of divorce decrees, pictures, birth certificates, all that jazz. I agree it's a load of #######. How could a Filipino be good enough to enter the US on a visa, but NOT good enough to leave the Philippines...Makes no sense. Just one more way of the Filipino Government to get it's hands in your pockets before their citizens leave that messed up country.

PhilippinesWhere are our Papers???
Manila embassy don't have our case yet:(,I just made an inquiry last may 10 and this is what it says
Records indicate that on December 31, 2009, NVC returned the visa petition to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office in Laguna Niguel, California. As the case is no longer under the State Department’s jurisdiction, future inquiries should be directed to the USCIS National Customer Service Center by telephone at 1-800-375-5283.

Hmmmm. If the case was returned to USCIS, looks like youo got a denial from the NVC. I would think that you would have received a notice from USCIS or even the NVC on the reason for the denial. I agree that at this point, contacting a politician is not a bad idea. I know that many people have reasons for not wanting to contact their local politicians. I have a good friend who waited almost 18 months for his wife/daughter's paperwork. He kept getting the same BS from the NVC. Once he contacted his Senator, he had an approval within 4 days. So it does work. Good luck on resolving this, and I hope everything works out for you!

PhilippinesRetiring in the Philippines
My wife and I will be retiring in Pampanga. We are pplacing the down payment on our house in September. She has a sister who will be watching construction for us, and will stay in the house until we get over there full time. You can't beat the finance rates over there. I have a few years left before we can get there full time, but at least we'll have a place to stay when we visit.

PhilippinesA question for my friend.

Hello friends...

I would like to ask something with regard to my friend's situation. Her boyfriend is planning to petition her for fiancee visa but the problem is, he arrived here in the US with k1-visa and was divorced after 4 years of marriage. The divorced was granted this February if I'm not mistaken. Now, my question is, is he eligible to petition my friend for k1 visa already or he has to wait until he becomes a citizen? By the way, he was married to an American.

Thanks you.

He must be a US citizen to file.

PhilippinesPolice Clearance/CRB

My Fiance and I been talking about this and I told her that she need a Police Clearance but she think CRB is the same as Police Clearance. I told her about this website and I just wanted to make sure. She will come back in the Philippines in less than 2 weeks from now. But anyway Thanks for your respond.

CRB is a work related background check, where the Police Clearance will verify whether she has a record or not. yeah, same info basically, but different than what the Embassy requires.

PhilippinesPolice Clearance/CRB

My Fiance stayed in London for 7 months but she moves to different places. She only got the CRB for background check. Does she still need the Police Clearance from london? or the CRB would be enough evidence in Manila embassy? I know that she definitely need the police clearance from the PI..does she need two? or one is good enough(From the PI Ofcourse)

She needs a clearance for every place she has lived for more than 6 months since turning 16. I would have her get the police clearance for London. If she's back in the PI, she can request the police record from the British Consulate in Manila. As for the PI, the NBI clearance is all the Embassy requires. If she can get her barangay clearance, it doesn't hurt to have it just in case. A lot of folks on here will say she needs the Barangay clearance, but I haven't known of anyone actually being asked for it at interview. Good luck!

Congratulations to both of you! Thank you for the well wishes. My journey is just beginning, but I know that with the help of the fellow VJers all will be fine. I am going to be in San Diego the first full week in June for a conference. Any hints on good places to hang out?

PhilippinesAny benefit to file "Report of Marriage" form with Phil Embassy ?
I believe that thr form will get forwarded to the NSO to register the marriage in the philippines. Otherwise, the filipina would be able to marry another person in the PI legally, cuz she shows no record of marriage in the Philippines.

We went to the same CFO, and they didn't ask my wife for one. She is 24. All she needed was her CENOMAR.

PhilippinesHelp fast with Passport
I know the feeling. My wife had to correct her BC as well. We missed out on the suspense date for her K-1 in '07 because of it. Of course at the time, we didn't know we could extend the petition.... :bonk: But, all has worked out. We married in February.

PhilippinesHelp fast with Passport
Sorry if this comes across as rude, but you should have known all along that her passport would have to be renewed. Waiting until the last minute is not the best course of action considering you had plans for a Jul wedding, IF she passes the interview, and doesn't get AP, or RFE...When my wife found out her passport would need to be renewed, she went in and renewed it. No problems. I hope that you can work something out, and that everything falls into place. Good luck!

PhilippinesNEW DS- 160

Where did you see posted that DS-160 form is now required for K1/K3 visas?

http://manila.usemba...ov/wwwfniv1.pdf bottom of the very first slide says After May 24, 2010, ALL visa categories will be required to submit the DS-160. Don't count too much on the FAQ at the US Embassy site, it is general info based on the fact that not all Consulates have converted to the new form. The Embassy in Manila has officially converted as of May 24.

PhilippinesNEW DS- 160

As I was informed of adimantly earlier today, the DS-160 is NOT to be used for K type visas. Those petitioning for K-1/K-3 and such must continue to use the DS-156/156K and DS-157. This will change eventually, and as Embassies come online, you will be able to use the new forms in place of the 156/157. Reason for this is because K-1/K-3 visas although technically are NIV's, they are treated by the Consulate as Immigrant visas.

I'll correct my own post. Starting May 24 all visa categories require the new form. Aweseome!

PhilippinesSOFA (passport change married name)
I would think that the copy of the US marriage certificate you received from Guam would suffice. You should still register that with the NSO, but the NSO can give you a certified xerox copy of the original, and you can use that to file. They cost about 150 PhP each. My wife requested 4 copies, and had them in hand in less that 5 days. Hope this helps.
