K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBeneficiary address/phone number change while petition in process
I'm curious about this too, as the same thing is happening for us right now...

I did ask the question under a different post yesterday, but no one's answered it yet..

OK... I only found the AR-11 and then this one for change of address: http://www.ilw.com/f...865fillable.pdf <<< and that I see expired in 2008,was for the sponsor who is required to submit change of address after filing an I-864 Affidavit of Support.

** I'll look more into this and if somebody can further assist Michael's request... please help.

Thanks,
Mari

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresjust got my NOA2 email. Just want to check i have the next step right
Really excited to hear this... we received our NOA1 almost a week and a half after you, so this is good news for us :)

Thanks for sharing the process, as you know it.. I've book marked this email, too! :)

Ok, so i just got this email. I hope i'm right in thinking it's my NOA2 email:

*** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: *hidden*

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On January 20, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

now for the next steps,

Just going to double check i have this right:

1. NOA2 goes to my finace's house in the US.
2. I Call DOS after NOA2 to find out my LND case number so I can make a medical appointment.
3. Make and attend a medical appointment.
4. Then I call DOS weekly until they tell me that London has issued my "packet 3".
5. Only then should I send in forms: DS-230 Part 1, DS 2001, Form DS-156, Form DS-157, Form DS-156-K.
6. After my forms have been sent to London I should start calling DOS again to find out if my interview has been scheduled just in case they don't get the address right.

thanks,

Josh.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Returned
We did that too ;-) I was like 'meh - I'm getting stuff together now anyway to show proof of ongoing relationship... i'll send it all now!"

 I double checked and I said K-1 Visa (I-129F) but I did revise it before making a second copy for my fiancee :)

I was a bit crazy with mine and paranoid they would send an RFE so I included evidence of relationship (call/sms records), engagement ring receipt, I-134, and copies of her birth certificate and passport. The packet I sent had two folders, the required stuff and extra stuff :)

Once our visa is approved and she is here I'm going to post samples of what I submitted for others to use :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow much is too much?
I don't think they care about all your other travels, etc.

Just keep it to the point!

I lived in Europe for three years and managed to go through a full passport and nearly all the extension pages - but no one said anything. I just marked those that were relevant to our trips to see my family in the States, our trips together, etc.

Keep it simple - as someone else just said - they don't want your life story.

Our letter was just under a page - I detailed how we met, my visits to the UK, and my move to the UK on my own merits..

Thanks! This is very helpful.

Our question 18 is a bit complicated because it wasn't just me going back and forth on trips; we have both moved countries throughout our relationship. I actually lived in BF during 2 separate periods, which also included some short trips to neighboring countries for work. In the middle of my second stay, he moved to France for grad school and since then I have visited him 3 times in Paris, the first time while I was still resident in BF, the second two times from the US. I'm submitting copies of my entire passport plus itineraries and I just want to make sure that there are no questions as to why there are so many entry and exit stamps or why some of my itineraries are US-Ouaga, some Ouaga-Paris, and some US-Paris. I forgot to say that we will also include photocopies of his passport to show when he moved to Paris. Also I am in international health and travel A LOT so I have lots of visas and lots of passport stamps - just want to make sure the dates and evidence for the relevant visits are clear amidst all that!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of meeting and ongoing relationship stuff
Re: originals or making copies... make copies!

remarkably I found most of the boarding passes for the majority of the trips. I don't have any for the trip farthest away (I.e. about 2 years ago). But I have about 80% of them for the most recent 8 trips.

2 questions...

1) Should I send in the originals, or should I make copies of them
2) Does it not matter that I don't have any of her boarding passes? All of my boarding passes will show to her country and in and around her country, but it's obvious that she couldn't have taken a bus to these places, so how does it prove we were together if I don't have her boarding passes? Is showing her itineraries and the photos sufficent to show she met me in those different cities of her country?

Are receipts from ATM withdrawals in her country worth sending?

Lastly, should I provide invoices or receipts of expensive purchases that I made in the US and then took to her? Ie. laptop, expensive jewelry, clothes, etc? Perhaps receipts to the items that cost over $250? Or is that overkill?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA2...Wedding HELP.
Could always plan for a 'big' wedding in like August or such... June is just quite close.

We've planned for a late August wedding (our NOA1 was in September last year)... so giving ourselves plenty of time....

I am in a very similar situation, people on this site just don't understand that you can't plan the type of wedding that will satisfy some families in the 3 months you have. My backup plan is this: if the visa doesnt come in time, he'll come over and we'll have the big wedding with family and friends, but not get a marriage license (i.e. have a religious, not a legal wedding) . Then, he'll fly back to england for his interview and when he comes back we'll have a small town hall wedding as our "legal" marriage. its not the best of situations (and you absolutely cant mention that youre entering the country for your wedding), but it will work if worst comes to worst.

Also, its common for your application to go "untouched" from after you get a NOA1 until shortly before you get approved/RFE'd from what I've read.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespayment method
You can still write a cheque since you have a US bank account.

Had you closed your bank account when you moved to Chile, you would fall under the latter category.

I live abroad in Chile with my fiance, but I have a checkbook for my US bank account. Can I write the i-129F fee with that check?

In the USCIS Instructions for form I-129F it says "the check or mondey order must be drawn on a bank or other financial institution located in the United States and must be payable in U.S. currency; and Make the check or money order payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security, unless:"

.... and one of the "unless" options is "if you live outside the United States, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands, contact the nearest U.S. consulate or embassy for instructions on the method of payment."

My question is: Is it necessary that I contact the nearest U.S. consulate for instructions on method of payment since I live outside the United States, or can I still write a personal check since it will be drawn from my US bank account?

Thank you!!

Ok, second post, and probably a stupid question, but my Fiance's Address is way long and doesn't fit in the space provided on the 129 form. Can I just add an attachment with contact info? Thanks in advance for your help. D.

Hang in there.. you're not yet at the 5 month mark... :)

You can look at timelines of other individuals here on VJ to see approximate dates and waits..

Is anyone else questioning the reality of their NOA-2, or maybe even their sanity after such a long wait?!

Where are you NOA-2?!

What were your 'reasons'?

I called USCIS today to request that our case be expedited, I just received an email saying it was denied after "careful consideration". 5 hours is consedered careful consideration. We have more than valid reasons for requesting that our case be expedited. Are there any other avenues I can take? Should I call them back? Speak to someone hire up maybe? Any help is appreciated.

United KingdomLiving in UK or USA - second thoughts
Our situation's a bit different, I suppose... I actually moved to the UK for four years to be with my now-husband. We did the whole London thing for a while, and it was great, fun, wonderful, etc. and everything.... but ultimately, we looked at our lives.

The opportunity to earn more money was here in the US. We lived in London, so it was super expensive (lived in South Kensington).. and didn't want to move to the outskirts or to a village. We'd never be able to buy anything in London. Flats were ridiculous.

We both had good jobs there, too.

We made the decision to move to Los Angeles and haven't looked back. The US has more to offer us in the future - and my - we save SO MUCH MORE!

My fiance and I have our NOA2 but have recently been seriously considering living in the UK instead. Of course that would mean a new application, more wait time, and all that, but that's all secondary at this point.

Of course the job situation is pretty bad in Scotland, but it doesn't seem much better in the US.

How did you decide where to live between the USA and the UK? What were some considerations?

* Kristin *FemaleUnited Kingdom2011-12-31 17:47:00
United KingdomInterview at London Embassy
You ring up to pay for it... after you pay for it over the phone, they will email you a receipt that you must bring with you on the day.

Edited to include phone numbers:
Callers in the UK: 09042-45010. Calls to this line are charged at £1.20/min
Callers in the US: 1-866-382-3589. Callers are charged a fixed rate of $16:00 for up to 7 minutes

So I finally have an interview date but now I'm confused. When exactly do we pay for the visa? Bearing in mind I'm applying for the K-1 visa through the US Embassy in London. There are no clear instructions on either the letter I got through the post or the link to pdf document that they provided in the letter. It just says 'to be paid on the day'. But I have read loads of reports where people pay for the visa before the interview and have to show the receipt when they go for their interview. Anyways if anyone could help me it would be much appreciated!!

Echoing "markonline1" - it'll be a piece of cake. Enjoy! You're almost all done with this part of the visa process!

When you guys walk out of the embassy with your visa approved, you'll wonder what all the nerves were about. It really is straightforward. I found the medical a far more daunting experience.

United KingdomWhat is your interview date @ London Embassy?
DOS can tell you the exact same information....

As much as it stinks to pay $16 for a phone call, it was the best $16 i spent on this whole process. I called and asked why it was taking so long to get a date, he asked when they logged our packet 3 and when his medical was, and he said oh that is a long time and gave me the code to email the embassy, and i had an interview date within a few hours.

Good luck!!!!!

* Kristin *FemaleUnited Kingdom2011-05-09 19:03:00
United KingdomWhat is your interview date @ London Embassy?
Have you tried calling DOS lately for an update?

(And oh my goodness - a tumor vs an x-ray malfunction... wow! That's a big difference!!)

[Edited because my silly computer double-posted]

I'm starting to get worried, here. It seems like people are getting their packet 4/notice of interview within just a couple of weeks of the embassy receiving all the information, and it's been a while since they got ours. Of course, we DID have a huge delay because the Knightsbridge people thought they found a tumor on Fraser's neck, but really, it turned out to be a malfunction with the x-ray machine. So there went a good 3 weeks of time...

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 Co Sponsor
Hi All:

A quick question... my mum was going to be our co-sponsor for our application; however, she has just found out she is going to be laid off.

Prior to this, she has made $65,000+ per year, and has a household of two (including herself).

She will be receiving a severance of $17,000 (her employer will write a letter and vouch for this), has $4000 from a sale of a house (recently), and will file to collect unemployment ($1500/month), but is confident she will be employed again soon.

Is she still able to co-sponsor us or would it be wise for us to seek someone else...?

Thanks,
Kristin

Okay.. so really they shouldn't be getting their knickers in a twist over the I-134... once we get to the I-864 down the road, that's the big baby

Thanks for your assistance; you're very smart :star:

For the I-134, probably going to be fine in London. It has been said on VJ that the I-134 is really to provide support for the 90 days. Normally I only say things I've read straight from the source or have experienced, so that's why I'm saying the source is VJ.

The I-864 for AOS is more strict and I don't have any specific information on that. The sponsor could be in question because of advanced age since that sponsorship is binding for many years. But hey, any sponsor is a ####### shoot because anybody can lose their job and suddenly not have funds.

Thank you for the feedback Nich-Nick, much appreciated.

They won't mind that the retierd person is relatively old (e.g. 80s?), will they?

Thanks,

Yes, a retired person can be a joint sponsor. They won't have W2s because they aren't employed, but they will have 1099-Rs most likely if they are getting retirement/pension. You just prove their income or assets.

Hi Everybody,

on my earnings. Of course, I would fill out form I-134.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 - employed now but won't be in Feb
Sorted.

We found a very wonderful friend willing to fill out the form as our co-sponsor, who meets all the requirements.

I apologise in advance - I'm sure everyone is tired of my co-sponsor questions... We're just having such a hard time with this part.

1. Our potential co sponsor exceeds the income requirement tremendously and has tax returns for this.

Two tricky points:
A. She is employed now thru the end of Jan but is being laid off. If she gets a temp job, can she still sponsor my fiancé?
B. Alternatively, if she completes the form now and gets a letter from her employer stating all the necessaries - will this work, along with tax returns? She is employed when sending the paperwork to my fiancé. She hopes to have another job by his interview ( still a few mo away )

Hi There:

A few questions with regard to our DS-230... we have typed this and printed it; however, is it possible to handwrite in where certain things do not fit? (e.g. address is longer than the blank allows) Or is it really better to just attached a continuation page?

And finally - whilst my fiance's father is listed on his birth certificate, he's never met him and knows nothing about him. For his father's date of birth, is it simply all right to write UNKNOWN?

Thanks,
Kristin

OK - will proceed and enter my new income.

With regards to how long I've resided in the US, Since birth (except 11/25/2007 - 02/08/2011 - is this suitable?)

K

Enter your current annual income, can estimate by taking weekly pay and multiplying by 52.

Prior year income should reflect past year income levels in USD.

Attach copies of prior years IRS returns, and recent pay stubs, and a letter from your employer.

Hi All:

Promise this is my last post on the I-134...

With regard to question 7:
I derive an annual income of....

What do I put in the blank? I know this sounds ridiculous... but, do I put the amount that my tax returns say (note - I earned only FOREIGN INCOME the last three years, so have filed taxes, but was exempt from paying US taxes).

I now have a job in the US - just started in early February - where I earn a salary that exceeds the income requirement. I have a letter from my employer stating that I earn this amount. Can I write this amount in the blank? Or do they want to know really my 'previous' information?
