K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsYES NOA2!!!
So happy for you!! xx

So I woke up this morning, checked my emails which I always do first thing (have been slightly obsessive about it recently..!), and there were the words I having been hoping to see for the past 5 months "your I129F petition for fiancee visa has been approved" or words to that effect :D
I screamed so loud my mum ran up the stairs thinking I'd had a heart attack...!!

Thank goodness for this forum, that's all I can say.
I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of questions in the run up to the interview in London...lol!

The last few days in particular have been a real struggle, was feeling really despondent, but now the worse is over, and the best is yet to come :-)

One step closer to marrying the love of my life

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWedding date!
Wedding date: 27th August 2011
I-129F filed: September 2010
Why that date: Few reasons, really... wanted a summertime wedding; his last day in the British army is 27th May, so it will give us time to relocate, etc.... and we have a lots of '27s' in our relationship (anniversary 27th Nov 2006, proposed 27th Feb 2009) :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow do you cope?
My heart goes out to you - I can imagine how difficult it must be. (my fiance and I lived in different countries for the first yr of our relationship, but have lived together in the UK for the last few)

I know my fiance (he's British - so is the reason we're going through this process) is just trying to keep himself as busy as can be and not try to stress himself out over all the 'what if's'. I know he's really worried and just stressed out about the whole process... so my recommendation: keep doing what you're doing with Skype and keep busy.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of degree is it that won't be recognised in the US?

With your current course (I was foolish and signed up on one in September that's over a year long, which I won't be able to do) - personally, what I am doing is just going through with it up to the point that I have already paid for (February). It's a good distraction.. but unfortunately, I won't be able to complete is, as it's UK-only... perhaps see if your units can transfer!?

Not much help, but good luck...!

Everything now seems so close, yet just that little bit too far away!

My Fiancee and I have now filed for our K-1, we put the package together in the first week of January off the back of a fantastic New Years in Las Vegas, and now we know what we plan to do over the coming years of my entry into the United States (Should and When they permit it).

So sat back in New Mexico, being over looked by a baby scorpion sat in the doorway we put our heads together and formed our plan. It's perfect, and straight forward; Get married in front of a Judge; File for my change in status; get driving; get bank accounts set up; start work; back to school (Since the US won't accept my UK degree); Then have the big family wedding/blessing!

However! I have hit a brick wall, I have a week now until I go back to work in the UK, sat here without the love of my life, with not alot to do. I had recently started a second degree with the Open University, but the path I chose involves Exams and another 3 modules once I finish the current one - but since I need to go back to school in the US do I continue with my OU course - It will take me another 18 Months to finish maybe longer!

Silly thing really, but that's my dilemma, I've usually been so strong with things, but being apart tears me apart as I live in a city with no Family and very few trust worthy friends.

We practically leave SKYPE on 24/7 when we are apart, but I'm just wishing this process would move faster - How do you guys do it? To say "keep busy" is easy when you don't know what people are going through - but you guys do know - well at least your foreign partners do.

So a question to the beneficiaries out there... How do you cope?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAbout to send out I-129F need a little help plz
Looks good - that's roughly what I sent along in ours.

I included pictures, too, but I realise those are secondary...

I am about to file my I 129F and I don't know if I have enough proof of ongoing relationship. I have boarding passes from 2009, itineraries from nov 2010 and christmas/new year2011, some skype transcripts from aug 2010 and dec 2010, I have text messages, proof we opened joint checking acct over new years, a card from his mom congratulating us on engagement, an invoice from the wedding gown I just ordered, is that good enough? I am freaking out! I really would appreciate any help/tips any of you can give, thanks so much!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2010 NAO1 People Only Please
NOA1 on September 2, 2010...

Timeline in my signature is where we're at.

We received our NOA1 on Sept. 23, 2010. It has only been "touched" once and that date was Oct. 3, 2010. I called last week to ask about our progress since we have waited through the 5 month target processing time. I was told to wait 33 more days if we had not heard anything. This means I need to call back on April 4th. I was told they are still processing the end of August filers. I hope it moves along quickly and we hear something before the 33 days. I just missed my financee's birthday because of this delay :-(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFinally!
Congrats :) Enjoy the waiting portion of your journey.. will be worth it in the end :)

@Rimas... so happy for you!!! That must be AMAZING!

Congrats and pull up a chair, this process can certainly test you and your relationship, but it does come to an end. In fact, I'm leaving in 15 minutes to pick up my fiancee with Visa in hand at JFK. So you'll make it. Stay positive, stay busy and keep reading here. I found it helped a lot!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2
Congrats xx Hope the rest of your journey goes well!

Finally, after 6 months, we got our NOA2. Mari and I had just finished skyping and encouraging one another on the painful wait. We said goodnight and I went to check email one last time before going to bed and THERE IT WAS. I couldn't believe my eyes. I immediately had to call her phone as she had signed off of skype. She went back to skype (so we can save money) and I was able to tell her what I have been waiting to tell her for so long now... We are approved!!!!
After celebrating and wishing for everyone else to get approved also, we both said goodnight with happier hearts for a change.
May all of you experience (very soon) the wonderful feeling of receiving the approval for the next step of our journey.
John & Marina

My heart goes out to you... I can't even imagine... :-(

Hi to everybody:

in the next 2 days we are going to get to the 6 months waiting, and I was wondering who else has been waiting for that long and what is their experience and who has got their NOA2 after the 6 months timeframe.

Good Luck on everybody I hope all of us we get news soon

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSubmit K1 Packet altogether
No offense - but that is the worst idea ever. Why would you want to delay yourself in dealing with RFEs, etc.?

If you're paying this paralegal throughout the process, the only thing I can think is that she would make more money in handling your case, dealing with your RFEs, etc.

Send everything you need to send form the 'guide' in one go.

Dear Fellow VJers! I apologize if i posted this on the wrong place but i must admit i tried looking for the "post" button and couldnt find it. Truth is, don't know where to post a question. Im sorry...
Hello Everyone! My fiance and I are now working on our papers and almost done with all the k1 requirements. We hired a paralegal (working in INS Orlando) and she helps us put together everything. I have been reading lots of articles, comments, etc related to K1 for the past months so somehow i know the basic. My concern is this: the paralegal lady told us to submit our papers via "installment" instead of submitting them all at once. She said it is better that way and it's alright to receive the RFE. After getting RFEs, submit what they need and add one more form. Wait for the next RFE and submit another form and so on. Personally, i don't think this is wise and im afraid that if we follow her advice, the more time we will be wasting. For those who are in same situation, please give me your ideas. Do you think it's good move to follow her or i go with my plan of submitting all the requirements altogether at once?

Your replies will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAfter reading multiple posts today, a word of advice
Correct - he's still in the UK ;-) And in the British Army til 27th May. Coming in June.

Unless she's holding off on coming over - the K1 is valid for 6 months and she didn't say she'd used it yet.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAfter reading multiple posts today, a word of advice
We took our chances with everything - planned to file well in advance, etc. - and did - and I am happy that we did.

We're having a lovely wedding this August, which we're grealty looking forward to.

Planning it together has helped keep us busy and our mind off the wait.. wouldn't have done it any other way.

Don't put deposits down on weddings. Don't book airfare. Don't pay for anything that is non refundable. Just DON'T, until there is a visa in hand. People get denied, paperwork takes a long time or gets lost. Save some stress.

That is all.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApproval Notice Question
It did; that's just their wording :)

I received the approval letter today (dated March 30). I have a question about a statement in the notice.

It reads " The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate."

Shouldn't it go to the NVC first, or is my case different because I have a congressional expedite? Nowhere in the letter does it mention the NVC.

Any thoughts?

222? Eeks... I thought my 197 was long... and we held on to packet 3 for a while ;-)

Hey all,

As the title says, i've just had my interview and my visa was approved!!

Just thought id post it as a heads up to everyone who used the California Service Centre at/or around the same time I did (Aug 2010)

And for those of you who have just started, you may not want to look, but it took 222 days from the day i first sent off the forms.

Thanks to everyone i've bugged on here constantly along the way, and a huge shout out to Nich-Nick for especially being a massive help, i've lost count of how many times they have answered one of my questions. Any UK K1ers check out their online guide NOW! http://bit.ly/gmbgde

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsUSCIS hung up on me twice today!
Oh my goodness; so sorry to hear this! I can't believe it... how awful! :-(

I called USCIS today and got hung up on twice. The first one I think may have been a mistake...he was in mid-sentance. But the 2nd time the lady said, "I can't discuss this futher"...click. #######!!!!

She did tell me that the on-line tracking tool for the USCIS is broken. It has not worked or been updated for months. That makes since because my last "touch" was October 3rd.

I called today (and will call everyday until we get our NOA2) and my tier 2 person sucked. Last week I requested and got a service request. Well the lady today said that person whom created the service request for us did so prematurely. That we were still in the normal processing times. I asked what that time frame was and got the standard 5 months. I explained that 5 months has long passed (we filed 9/23/10). She just said that service request is in but that no one will pay attention to it. Again....#######....what is it for then damn it?! I was told to call back in 11 days. Again..again...#######?! I asked why 11 days? That is an odd number and that would be a Saturday. So she just said, "Oh...I guess it is...then call the newt business day." This is proof she just pulled that number out of the air. I asked why 11....what happens in 11 days. That's when I got the hang up. I mean....this IS MY LIFE. Not just some file on her desk. They won't tell me anything...no good news no bad news nothing....just wait more. We are almost at 7 months...how long does it take?

BTW....do not mention the speed of the California Service Center. That just pissed her off more. But facts are facts lady and ya'll aren't cutting the mustard! Think the VSC is hiring? I want a job that I can treat people like garbage, get all holidays off, and not perform my work in the time designated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSurprise ... ?????!!!!
Awful lawyer!

He just want to make more money off you!

Got NOA2 after a long hell and I finally got an interview date. Our previous lawyer (who we fired bcz he did nothing and delayed our petition 1 month) told us that would be safer if my fiance will come at the interview. Today , 2 weeks before the interview our current lawyer warned us that if my fiance will show up with me at the interview we might get denied because they will come up with the idea: "Why u don't get married here and process an immigrant visa ?".
I AM VERY CONFUSED NOW ....?!
If this is the case than why is the K1 for ? Everybody should go to the fiance(e)'s home country and get married , right ?
If this will happen than we have to wait another year apart ? Indeed, my fiance visited me 6 times in 10 months because he cannot live without me and he spent a lot to see me and YES he has money for ME otherwise he wouldn't be able to "support" me as they request it .

There are some contradictions here:

  • if he CAN come (financially) to met me than why we don't get married here . ?????
  • if he wouldn't visited me they will deny us because we have no proofs of ongoing relationship ?????
Still v confused ..... help !

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsLosing my Patients with the USCIS
Good luck.. I hope things speed up for you.

Whilst it may only take 10 minutes to look at a petition... 10 minutes x the number of petitions they receive = lots of time!

Not sure that ringing 4 times a day is going to help your case any... but I wish you all the best, and hopefully things start to move a bit quicker for you!

I am getting so frickin pissed off at the USCIS. I have patiently waited 6 months for an approval or RFE or denial or something. Have heard nothing except give us another 60 days. I cannot believe this is the United States Government. I cannot believe US citizens are being treated this way. I have paid taxes my whole life, served 4 years of Honorable service in the United States Marine Corps. I am doing this the American way by filing paperwork properly instead of just being a douchebagger and trying to sneak her in the border. Why can't they fix their freakin system so we the citizens, the people who pay them to even have a job can see where are case is at in the process. Maybe they can make it to where we can see that they are waiting on a background search or waiting on a response from your local county courthouse to verify your previous divorce was legal. Or maybe see that they are currently on the golf course and will resume work on your case once they finished the 18. Instead they leave us completely in the dark knowing absolutely nothing. I am telling you my bitterness is brewing badly. My Senator was able to get my case approved for an expedite on Wednesday and still have heard nothing. Has anyone ever called to speak to a teir 2 officer and requested to speak to their supervisor? Any luck getting that done that way? If i have to, i will email the Director of the Department of Homeland Security. I am so sick of waiting for an answer that will only take 10 minutes of somebodies time. I mean i know how difficult physical and mentally their job must be, having to work Mon-Fri 8am to 4:30pm even having all of the medical and retirement benefits. Truthfully i would rather be a Port-a-John cleaner than have to undergo the physical and mental strain of their schedule. One thing i am doing consistently is calling them twice a day and speaking with a teir 2 officer. Next week will be three times a day and the week after that will be four times a day. You can start calling me Andy Dufrene(you know Shawshank) if you want to. Each one of them will be told that i am calling that much. And i will continue to call that much until one of them burns the ten calories it takes of getting up off their ####, walking five steps to the next desk and asking their supervisor to call the VSC. If they are going to waste me and my families time, i am going to waste theirs. Can i get an Amen??!! They are already getting to know me.

Any thoughts anyone? Suggestions?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSerious Stress...
Be lucky your time difference isn't too severe... I live in California and my fiance is in the UK. We're 8 hours apart in time, and we both work - so weekends are really our chance to catch up. During the week, we exchange emails - short, because we're both busy with work. Weekends are full of Skype and phone calls... but just look on the bright side, you can be together soon :)

I am a generally patient person I think but this is driving me mental... How do you guys deal with your stress? The wait is taking its toll on our relationship. It's hard to spend all this time on the phone and online and keep up a normal schedule.

This month the time changes here in Wisconsin and I will be an hour AHEAD of Carlos in El Salvador and that makes it even harder!! I work 6a-2:30p and 10 hours of mandatory overtime per week.

The worst part about this whole thing is his dad is the Deputy Chief of the USCIS Forms Center West and he can't even help us expedite anything. :(

Give me your ideas on how to get thru this trying time... :bonk:
