K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOpened Sealed Envelope at the Airport in Accra
I am pretty sure mine was closed all the way- I remember because I was trying to take a glimpse inside and there was no way to see anything. What makes you so sure that they all have that?

On another note: I had my envelope in my carry-on bag and nobody even asked me for it when I checked in or went through security nor when I boarded. I only took it out at my POE and once someone saw me with it, I got taken out of the line to get processed.
I guess based on my visa they would have known about me having an envelope but yeah, It didn't even accure to me that someone would want to see it when I left my homecountry but now it seems that's common practice?!?

Whoa, I can see how that would stress you out! How did you get to know about this disaster?

Anyway, I am glad he made it through immigrations and customs okay and very happy, you two are together at last!:-)

Middle East and North AfricaCombating the "yo mama don't live here" issue
Does your husband in general agree that he should do housework period? You mention that after you "explode" or talk to him, things improve for a few days and then go back to the old habits.
Maybe he doesn't really know what to do or he feels overwhelmed?

I know I did after my son was born and a lot of things didn't get done during the day. Also, Sometimes days just fly by with a kid and with all good intensions, you just don't get to do much housework. Oh well, I am sure you know that...:)

I have one suggestion to make though that works for me very well...go to www.flylady.net and sign up for the daily newsletters and all. It's a really awesome system on how to keep your house organized and neat without spending hours and hours of cleaning a day. They have lists and daily reminders of the daily tasks and they are so motivating. He might laugh about the getup of the site, it seems very much geared towards women but he might like how easy everything is structured and explained.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRed flags - some examples please
Someone on here made the suggestion to discuss the option to life in the alien spouses country instead of the US and see what the reaction is. A person who is out to get a greencard won't be to happy about that idea...

Red flags for me would be:
my SO is unavailable a lot of times I call
doesn't engage much in conversations
seems not interested in how I am doing
usually I am the one who stays in touch while apart

the list probably goes on and on...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIs marrying again a good idea???
Someone correct me if I am wrong...you are already married (to your wife), thus you are not eligible to marry in the US.
I guess you could divorce and marry again? j/k
I don't know why you decided to marry in Honduras but maybe you should have considered the inconvenience of a spanish marriage certificate before you got married?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDid you get your NOA2 approval recently?? Does NVC have it yet???
We got our approval notice (NOA2) on April 21...but still haven't heard from the NVC either. Not too worried yet though, I think on the NOA2 it says, it can take up to 4 weeks until we hear something.

So I guess we gotta wait and see...and hope the best!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem!!
Hmm..now thatstill rises another question....if I left the States after getting married on the K-1 and left again without AOS or AP, and let's say we wanted to go on vacation in the US...can I actually do that? Just as tourist again on an I-94?

LOL, I am terrible, huh?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem!!

If you're not going to live in the US, you don't need permanent resident status; that's how you handle that if & when it comes up.

Until then, all you can do is move forward as if you will be staying in the US, or risk delaying your move here.
If you get the K-1, come to the US & marry, you'll be able to go on his orders IF he gets transferred. When it is time to come back to the US, you can DCF nad come back on an Immigrant Visa.
If he doesn't get transferred, file for your AOS as planned.

Or am I missing something?

No, you don't. ;)
And important was your "IF he gets transferred"...lol there is a great chance, but he hasn't gotten the orders yet, so I am in limbo..I just freaked out and got all worried because we are so close to everything already, and I just want to get it over with...without major new things interfering(sp?)

But if I could just go on as planned and then just add DCF once he is here, that would be cool with me!!

So, thanks very much for all the advice, I definitley feel better now!!! :energetic:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem!!
Yea, so far we haven't gotten any useful information from JAG at all. We already had an appointment with them before we started the K-1, just to see what info they could geve us and yea..it was nada..lol

But if we got married in the States and I got on his orders for the assignment and I didn't need AP, that would already help!
But when and how would I apply for AOS?

If I knew, I could just stop the K-1 and do DCF, I would sure do that, but right now, I don't know anything!
But the thing with getting on his orders, that already sounds really good to me!
(I mean, I knew I was getting on it, but I didn't think it could do anything good for the visa process)
Geez, I am getting old over this...not to mention, that we already planned a civil wedding in Germany end of August, I guess, I can forget about all of that too....lol

Gotta love the military!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem!!
Thank you, I guess, I will send jodee a pm, if I am not getting any more replies on here. I have read all kinds of topics already, but so far, it was nothing that could really help me in my case.

Well, maybe some more people will read this and have some ideas...

I too can imagine that people in the military face this issue a lot more, so I am hoping, this is nothing that can't be fixed.

And I guess, I could call the embassy in Germany as well, to ask for advice?!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProblem!!
I need :help: !!!!!

OK, to fill you in: My fiance (american) and I (german) filed for the K-1 in February, we just recieved the NOA2 and waiting now for our papers getting sent to NVC.
So far, everything is cool, I started collecting all the other required papers, he works on the Afidavit of support.
Now--he is in the USAF, stationed in La. and he was told, he might get stationed in Germany in the fall. To me, this means, we might be able to get married in the States after I get my visa approved, but then I would not have time to apply for AP nor AOS because he would be in Germany.
My question is: Can I put my visa application on hold or completley stop it, wait for him to come to Germany, marry here and then do DCF???
Does anyone know, if something like this is possible/happened before?
Or any other ideas what I could do now?
I expecting to get my K-1 in July/August, but he would already come to Germany approx. September.

My wories with just stopping everything is, that it might look bad to the USCIS, like I didn't know what I want, if all we want is finally getting married and start our lives together...wherever it would be... (L)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2nd trip to the US
I don't know, I always get asked tons of questions, I even had a secondary inspection once. Not fun, I tell ya! But so far, I always got through...and I think, they get a feeling for people who come up with a story. So stay with the truth if they ask you more questions than usually.
They always asked me if I have a job back home and what I do and where I live and stuff like that, I guess just to make sure that I am really only visiting. Because once I told them I was gonna visit my bf and that got them all on alert or something. But still...have some binding ties, and all is good!!

Enjoy your trip!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThis is crazy
I was very confused about this as well. We filed at TSC, but got the NOA1and NOA2 from CSC.
Since we got our NOA2, I hope, we are good to go!?
At least the notice said, our case has been sent to the NVC and we should hear from them in 2-4 weeks...

Sometimes I really wonder, what these people are doing...not that I can really complain so far, but geez....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThanks for the help. A question.
If you are in Poland with your fiancee, you should definitley try and file for I-130 right there at the consulate.

It's supposed to be much faster and probably less complicated, at least (if I understand it right), she would already have an Immigrant visa,gc,...and wouldn't have to apply for AOS later on.

I am not sure, what exact requierements need to be fulfilled in order to be able to do DCF, but it is most likely worth a try or at least get more info from the consulate in Warsaw.

Good luck, I wished I could do it like that!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPostponing the Wedding
When you look on your NOA2, there is a box where it says how long it is valid...maybe you can already slow down things, kinda get all further steps done kinda "last minute", have her have the interview and then, like said before, she still has 6 more months to actually enter the US.
Maybe that will give you all enough time?

I am sorry you are having problems like that, I hope, it will all work out soon!! :)

Well, if the system is making it so easy to live and actually make a living there, I can't really blame people who try and take advantage of that.
OF COURSE, it is not right and I am not trying to excuse it and it is just SO WRONG that
on the other side, they are giving people who want to do it the legal way, such a hard time. :crying:

But I guess how it is...barely anything is really fair these days...

We still shouldn't get too mad and discouraged...at least we know, we are doing the right thing.
And YES, WE ROCK!!

nadine ...

i'm surprised that noone addressed this but .... ALWAYS tell the truth!! your evidence needs to support what you are saying. with the introduction of lying, you are setting yourself up for future problems!

don't create another headache when this process is already stressful enough! one little slipup and it could be your curtain call!

I thought I already stated that I don't have the intention at all to lie about how we met. Neither did my fiance seriously try to make me lie. It was more a joke (kinda an inside joke between the two of us, since he tried to get around the facts when his mom asked me how we met). Sorry I made you think we're considering to "cheat" here.
I just needed some reassurance, that the fact we met online, won't cause us any problems.
Thanks for showing your concerns though!!! :)

IMBRA Special TopicsMet through Marriage Broker???
My fiance and I met through hotmilitarysingles.com (haha, yea right).
It's a website where you can have profiles and then contact other people. I know he paid a membership fee in order to get in touch with me, well, he had paid it before, not just to get in touch with me..lol
Is this site considered a marriage broker?
We met in 2003, I did not get effected by IMBRA, we filed before March 6, but i am a little worried about answering questions regarding how we met.
2 months after we met online, I flew to the US to meet him.
He suggested to tell them we met while I was on vacations in the States, but I'd rather stick with the truth....hoping it won't be a disadvantage for us then..!?

What do you think?? Is it safe to mention it when I have the Interview?? :help:

IMBRA Special TopicsYOU SHOULD BE WORRIED !
Hm.
I agree...if you don't have any felonies in your background, you don't have to worry about IMBRA.
And I guess at the end it really won't affect a lot of people here.
BUT...what about those where you have 15+ years from the conviction to now and who says, the fiancees of those men want to get married just to get to the States?

I think the idea of IMBRA, protecting the woman, is good, but the way they started this (right forms unavailable, just "freeze" cases, not letting people know what's going on, basically being totally un-organized) was ridiculous and caused so much unneccesary headache, heartache and trouble...and THAT'S what I didn't like about IMBRA.
And I am not even effected by it, but just to read about all these stories here, is frusterating, I can't imagine how it must feel to be stuck in the middle of it.

USCIS Service Centersnew processing times update
CSC updated their processing times and now I am really confused. First of all they added all these different categories for the I-485, but there is none for the AOS based on marriage, but the ones they have, like employment based are all updated to March 15 2007. Last status was November 13.
Is that for real?? A 4 month jump within not even 4 weeks since the last update?
That would be good for me since I filed in December 2006...but my portfolio still shows no touches or updates........

Any suggstions or thoughts about this???

IS it time now to get a Congessman involved or should I maybe try and just email CSC? Does anyone have the correct email adress??
