It has been quiet on the forums. Chada and I have been calling and running around Bangkok getting everything taken care of for the consulate interview. We are doing the medical exam, never married form, paying the Visa fee, going to a doctors appointment and meeting dad for the first time. Did I mention thats all today!? I'm not sure what clicked with her getting motivated but I'm enjoying working with her on it. It just doesn't feel much like a vacation... I have tried to incorporate questions I have been getting into my Post Noa 1 Checklist

Check it out when you get a chance.

Man, You are one organized guy! Your checklists are awesome! It's too bad that USCIS and NVC aren't as organized.

Has anyone tried submitting digital information to the Consulate? We have well over 600 chat logs from over the years as well as dozens of photographs, all of which originate as digital files. I have printed several chats and photos for my fiancée, however I am sending her everything on a CD. I am wondering if they want to see more evidence if she would be able to hand them the CD and have them inspect the contents of it.

I've read somewhere that CD's were not acceptable. Best to print out the info.

I received an e-mail today saying that my petition was approved. NOA2 is in the mail!

Congratulations! That's great.

WOW...I guess they forgot all about August...I'm watching September and October people with their spouses here already. I've got tickets to go in 2 weeks for the pre-wedding ceremony there but I really don't want to come back without her but it's looking like that's what I'll have to do.

I really want to be there to help her for the interview and bring her here...she's only been on a plane once and that was with me from Cambodia to BKK. Navigating an international airport would be crazy (changing planes).

I wish they'd get on it but NOTHING! Her family wants march 21 (lucky and all that) but I'd just assume wait 'till I ave something then go. I am very depressed...worrying about that guy in the embassy...worrying about everything...maybe I wont' be ready for her here...ughh!

Here is a link to the thread where the guy got denied with a co-sponsor in BKK: http://www.visajourn...howtopic=179527

She will have a crazy time going through international airport by her self. Nam reads english very well, and has traveled quite a bit in SE Asia, and she told me she was very happy I was with her, cause she would have been completely lost, without me there to help out and point the directions out.

I have been told that LOS does not allow co-sponsors as well.

Probably one of the biggest parts of any type of Thai party (especially when a Western man is involved and especially in Issan) is the drinking. Buy a bunch of alcohol, sticky rice, and bbq pork and have a good time.

If you want to do this Thai style then you better have a bunch of Sang Som and lao kow.

If you go to a noodle cart on the streets of Bangkok, you expect to eat noodles. If you go to Cowboy you can expect...
No big surprises, nor a big deal. It simply is what it is.

My fiancee comes from a modest background as well. Her parents are farmers too, yet she made the choice to go to an all girl's high school in the main town about an hour and a half from her home. She was 13 at that time and made the decision herself. "What did your parents say about that?" I inquired, almost in disbelief that she took it upon herself to seek out the best education she could. She replied "They don't know much about education, so they trusted me to pick the best and entirely supported my decision." In order to pay for her high school and college education, she agreedafter graduating to work for seven years in the public school system. That contract shall end this July. In the meantime she decided to pursue a Master's degree and has established herself as a fair and fun English language tutor, both to kids and adults. Though she has had support from others, she's done all this herself.

Of course I am proud of her, but I mention this to show how one's situation, one's background, does not make the person. She is highly ambitious and that is what allowed her to succeed and that is more of what really defines her. So regardless of one's station in life, I believe one's character is fundamental. I appreciate and enjoy the company of those of high character. To those of more questionable character, I say "Live and let live," but I prefer not to keep company with such folk.

Is this person's character someone you respect, admire, and want to be like? I believe that answer says it all.

For all Thai-Farang couples I recommend www.geoffandamy.com It is a site of, by and for thai-farang couples. I have frequented the forum and it was there that I learned about VJ from a fellow member.

I agree, it's not about the background, it's the character of the person, something that is in them.

My girl comes from a poor background, parents are rice farmers in Isarn. She has watched as girls from her village went and worked the bars, gotten gold and rich old men, but she chose to go to college. She almost has a bachelor degree now.

When I met her I was fighting muay Thai in the stadiums in the South. I was broke, the only money I had was what I made from fighting. (which isn't much, 5000-7000 baht per fight) I was basically living like a Thai. She knew this and still chose to be with me. We lived in a hut and slept on the floor. She got a job that paid 3500 baht a month, and we lived off of my prize money and her wages for a year. We ate a lot of MaMa!

One time she went back to Isarn to see her mom and wanted to give her mom some money. So she took an extra 2000 baht. When she came back home, she gave me the 2000 baht back. I asked if she forgot to give it, she said that when she gave the baht to her mom her mom gave it back to her because we needed it more than she did.
How's that for character!

[ hi, if u dont have alot of money then it might be best to find a way to get married here if u can but im not sure u can since u have a vister visa but then again u did not intend to get married b/c in mexico it would cost a lil more b/c your husband would have to get a permison to be married in mexico * in mexico * which is about 200 dollers then pay the civil marriage 50 dollers ( i was married in mexico with my b.f and im from the usa) it was some work lol ) and then of course after being married u have to apply an i130 for your spouse who is not the us citzen and there kids who are under 21 which u have a child right so one price for the both of you 355 dollers OR he could apply for an fiance vise i think thats 455 dollers now and on the paper they do ask if your finace in the usa and say yes i guess that might the best cheaper way and you could pay extra to make it faster b./c only with that visa you can do expited service so money wise it would be the best couse FOR NOW b/c after that u have to apply other things that cost money lol sorry im trying to help u out but everything is costly if you ask me thats the goverment of usa for ya but i still love my country lol

No, US police certificate not required.... Mexican police certificate generally not available

In dont know about where to get it in other parts of mexico but im sure u can ask anyone who works for a compeny where to get it. They are not really reports more like small piece of paper saying u have not been in jail. are u have and for what thats about it. You can also ask in mexico where u get your i.d are lisens they should know are. Again its a big thing the police report thing inless of course u neaver had a decent company Job does not have to be big pay, and are if u have a mexican I.D to vote in mexico ( they should know) mexico the big problem is geting SHOOT RECORDS lol so good luck smile.gif

Yes he does need them just in case, In mexico everything is done by police certificates like new jobs at companies and I.Ds so Im doing the i130 and my husband needs to take his for the interview ( if we are aproved ) also shoot records and i advise u not to get the shoots done in juarez they cost alot more money 50-200 each and there is alot of shoots he needs. But the police cer. he needs to get from mexico if he is liveing there. I dono about the usa

One thing to remember, some cases get "touched" a lot and others do not. The USCIS is not the best at keeping this up to date. Some people on here have not shown even one touch on thier case and already have a GC (greencard) in hand. So, if your case is not showing touches, don't get discouraged right away. All it means is the person handling your case has not updated it on the web.

Yea i guess you are right, well i got my Noa2 already and im guessing i have not been "touched", everyone has a differnt case and handeled differnt i guess but thanx for clearing touch up for the us who did'nt know what it was smile.gif.

QUOTE (Isra @ May 3 2009, 07:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is the first post for me and I hope someone will be able to answer my question. My fiancee is 22 years old (male) and I am 51 years old (female) so there is quite an age difference between us. We met online and have documentation (emails, IMs etc) to show proof of our relationship being legitimate.

My fiancee is very worried that the consulate will deny us based on our age difference and I think he is wrong and they are not legally allowed to deny on that basis alone. There have been men with this age difference over their fiancee's for years so I dont see how they can discriminate because I am the older and female.

Does anyone know for sure???? Can we be denied just for having this big of an age difference between us with him being the younger??? I have already traveled to his country to meet in person and now we just need to apply for the visa.

I would go with desertlady on this one, If they do ask him about his age, love and marriage comes in no age use the phrophet muhammed storie for backup sence it is mostly islamic country. And see if they have anything against his doings lol which they should not if being true muslims. And sence it is a AMERICAN CONSULATE BY AMERICAN LAW AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VISA BEING DINED

IF she did want to marrie in mexico she would need to be there least then 6months ( Sence that is the longest permison they give u to be in mexico ) like america / mexico gives u a like visa and its by law so its better not to over stay without permison in mexico i go 6months at a time to mx. Long story short we couldn't keep our hands off of each other and we had a whole lotta naked fun. This was the two week period we were assembling our I129 package (we have been dating for 3 years).... I got home and mailed the paperwork a month later. I recieved the "reciept letter" the begining of May. It is now June and I am 3 months prego and totally freaking out!!! I can't even ask myself the question "What if we get denied??" because honestly I would start the revolution just to be with this person. Soooooo........ Question 1. Does it make us look bad that I am now pregnant?? Question 2. Is there anything I can do to speed this processes??? Pay an expedite fee or whatever??? I'm 29 this is my first baby I can't give birth alone without him, I'm so scared!! Question 3. What additional forms and paperwork will I need to gather and fill out??? I really want to get all of these things together now instead of waiting until the last minute. I will be grateful for any and all advice!!!! Thanks!! helpsmilie.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresbeneficiary birth certificate required for I-129F / K1?

IF you are the beneficiary (the non-US person hoping to get the Visa), then yes, you will need a copy of your birth certificate when you finally interview at the embassy. Aren't you the petitioner though? For the petitioner, the I-129F states that you can substitute copies of your passport for proof of citizenship in your application.

I am (going to be) the beneficiary and for 16 years now I have used a national passport as the main ID like any other citizen of my country. WHY would I need to restore an outdated piece of paper that does not even have my photo on it? Weird.

This sucks! I let my BC perish around the time I got my passport (some 16 yrs ago), since nothing suggested I would need two IDs at any point in my life!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG 325A - Attachments

Have you sent your paperworks? If not, you might wanna send the attachments by mail to your fiance/e with one of those express courier services, just to be safe...and for the sake of peace of mind.
But if you have, IMO it wouldn't be a problem, but hold on to the original attachments. If the USCIS do not send you RFE for that, then send them to your fiance/e so he/she could bring them for the interview (just in case).

I am the beneficiary actually, and I faxed the attachment with my signature. Is there a way to know for sure? The package is not mailed yet, but we don't want to lose time. I'm thinking he can put his own signature on all 4 copies, would that be enough to certify authenticity? :)

Sign and date the attatchments. List the last 5 addresses since that is what the form is asking you.

Question: I had to fax my attachment so the signature on it will not be original; do you guys think it's going to be a problem? The signatures on the G-325a itself are all original.

But, because we were both worried about discovering some kind of mistake or having to include something more, he also included some extra pieces of paper with his signatures on the top or the bottom or in the general area where it would be on a letter. Sure enough, they came in handy when his letter of intent was damaged in the mail. Having the spares made it easy to print a new one.

Cool idea, I regret I never did that for my petitioner. :) But I had to fax him a signed addendum to my G-325, which I asked him to also sign with his own hand, all 4 copies. The forms themselves are signed with my original signature. I would think an addendum is not an official doc, would that be ok, what do you say?

Copy of Edgar's Birth Certificate (just in case)

Did you include translation of your fiance's birth certificate into English? Although it's included "just in case," it has to be translated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed HELP with your opinions!!!!!!
Seems like a pure misunderstanding due to language barrier. She might have been reasonable but misunderstood; he might have been reasonable but misunderstood. As a result, a load of mutual hurt and stones thrown at both. Sad.

P.S. I would never blame a struggling single mom looking to emigrate from her home country through marriage, even if "love is not yet in the picture." And please folks, do not generalize about Russian women.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about evidence of in person meeting

My Fiancee and I have met in person and I have photographs proving this.
She came to the States on a K-1 visa with the purpose of marrying someone who turned out to be abusive. She never married him and stayed with some relatives of hers until she was able to get the money to return home.
We met while she was still in the States staying with her relatives and stated a relationship.
She has since returned to her country as she was required to leave before her 90 days expired.
I have never been to her country to visit her there but we have decided that we are in love and want to get married.

Are the photos proving the meeting here in the States acceptable proof or must I travel to her country?
If I have to go meet her there I will. I am wondering thou if it is required. The only information about meeting in person comes form the instructions, "have met in person within two years before your filing of this petition," and does not seem to specify any other requirements.

As long as this meeting happened within the past 2 years and you have it documented, I don't see why you cannot use it. But the documentation has to not only include photos but primary proof as well (ticket stubs, passport stamps, hotel receipts etc).
