Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPolice certificate - where to apply?

Any habitat works when you consider that the shipped in US men, like many on this board come with a lot of cash. And with money there are plenty of people dying to do everything from chopping your wood to keep the home warm to cleaning your house even in the worst of habitats, northern Siberia! Drop the money factor, send them poor, and I completely agree with you!

That's only a short-term advantage. Cash will be depleted long before the "product" acquires tolerable survival skills. A shipped Russian bride is, on the contrary, fairly survival-ready upon entry into the US. Plus, according to my estimates, the total cost of ownership of a US male is many times that of a Russian female, whereas ROI is considerably lower and slower!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPolice certificate - where to apply?

There really is an "industry" in Russia for producing foreign brides. It probably has nowhere near the same monetary value, but as far as actual "units shipped" it may be pretty close!

I would actually start a business of shipping in foreign husbands. We'll see how they compete with our domestic product, in the local environment. Shoes I definitely prefer to buy from Italy, wine from France, why not consider men from the U.S.?

Seriously, I hope you guys are jesting, otherwise this whole banter sounds a bit offensive.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPolice certificate - where to apply?

Does anyone know where should my fiance go to apply for Russian police certificate?

If your fiancee has lived in different cities in Russia and now resides in a regional center (????????? ?????), she must go to the local UVD, they will give her a special form where she fills in all her names and date and place of birth. Nobody will ask for the list of cities, since they check their databases by name and date of birth and produce a certificate according to their form, the same across all UVDs in Russia. It's useless to bribe any police officers to speed up the process, since the certificate they'll sign will most likely get rejected by the consular officer.

If she lives in a small city, she can apply to the local OVD but it will be slower since they transfer the request to the regional UVD anyway. So it's recommended that she find an occasion to visit her oblast center and apply to the regional UVD. The addresses and more explanation (in Russian) can be found here.
Hope this helps.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMoney transfer from Russia to USA
QUOTE (slim @ Sep 10 2007, 02:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You guys are acting like a hundred bucks for a transfer is going to kill you.
Thousands of dollars. If it costs you $100 to gain several thousand, are you really getting a bad deal? I'll put $100 up right now for anyone that wants to send me several thousand.

To WU up to 6K costs almost $300, and I have 15K to send. And it's not my guy who will be "gaining" these 15K but WE, OURSELVES and OUR retirement/ car/ house /whatever.
Yes, the expense is going to kill me and yes, I'd rather avoid it.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMoney transfer from Russia to USA
I have the same problem and my bank (Citibank in Moscow) does not allow money wires overseas without documents substantiating the transfer (agreement etc). WU is out of question - I have just wired 2K to my friend in Canada and paid $95 commission on it. Cash on board is limited to... 3K? 10K?

Any other options? Can I gift the money to my fiance and if so, how does that work?

Russia, Ukraine and Belarustime to receive visa after interview

Blues, That is one I never heard of. Most rental units are available as soon as they are free. Landlords don't like to have a money machine sitting and not generating the mortgage payments. Perhaps he has a particular apartment in mind that won't be free until then but as far as that being the way they do it in N.C. I would say definately not. Why don't you post that at the other place and see if the others agree with me. BF, you are a really great gal but I worry about you a little.

The explanation he gave was that in the Reseach Triange area, many students are moving out by the end of November so the choice of available houses is better and cheaper and the likelihood of getting a good deal is higher if one waits to rent until Dec. 1.

Good for you. My guy hasn't even rented anything yet and my interview is in 3 weeks. He says rental agreements in NC normally start on Dec. 1 so I have to wait until the end of November to enter. sad.gif

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusApostil for documents??
QUOTE (slim @ Oct 10 2007, 09:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yes, things like apostilled "everything" are very helpful to girls on the Russian K1 visa forums because anything that will ease the transition to getting divorced after the magical 2 year waiting period; it's a lot easier to get them now while you're still "in love" than to get them later.

Not because of that Slim. They are simply paranoid and will encourage each other to gather ten times the necessary amount of paperwork. There's a whole discussion for example on how to translate SEALS on the police certificate. Crazy.

If your fiancee's friend reads Russian girls' forums on K1 visa, no wonder she will say that all kinds of unnecessary things are strictly required.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMedical Update
Well I went to my medical to AO Meditsina today.
Spend 3 hours sitting in 4 consecutive lines (doctor; blood draw; x-ray, doctor again). The x-ray had to be done twice; both shots showed some kind of darkening in my left lung so they directed me to TB clinic tomorrow to double-ckeck. I cannot imagine what this thing might be as I am as healthy as a horse. Never smoked, no coughhing, no nothing. Maybe they just forgot to wipe their x-ray machine?? The doc said she's almost positive there is no TB but they have to verify for the Embassy.

Anyway, I'm glad I'm doing this a week in advance as my final results may not be ready until Monday.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusGraduate School

There should be members here who hold a Russian degree and who went to grad school in the U.S. (Blues Fairy, you may be one of them!). What did you guys do with the transcripts? The Universities I will be applying to want the transcripts - with translations! - to be sent directly from my school, and although I know I can arrange that, it's gonna be a major hassle.

I simply translated my diploma into English and sent in both the photocopy and translation. In your case, it's probably a good idea to add an explanatory note that schools in Russia do not provide translated transcripts directly to schools in the U.S.
The folks in the office of international programs are indeed more understanding as a rule.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusK1 approved!
Finally, I'm done with this 7-month waiting saga. The interview was a breeze.

My guy gave me a wake-up call at 6:05 am, after my two alarms have gone off. I was at the gate at 7:30 (had planned for traffic jam but there was none). There were just two K1-s today, a young girl from Turkmenistan who was shaking with fear, and myself totally calm and barely awake. Documents were picked up by a Russian guy in the first window. He wondered why I didn't bring my fiance's tax returns but I told him that the pay stubs and letter from employer should be enough. tongue.gif We set to wait, and I kept joking to cheer up the poor Turkmen. Then after some waiting I was called to the second window. A lady CO asked me about how Jeff and I had met, about his job(s) in much detail, about my previous stays in the US, whether we had any previous marriages or kids. She also asked to see the most recent photos together. Then she said "well, I think your K1 is approved, you'll receive visa in a week!" And that's it.
No emails or phone transcripts were required.

I walked out, picked up my stuff from the security window and waited a bit for that scared Turkmen girl to see how she fared. She issued from the embassy shortly with a big grin on her face.

Then, relieved, I went to have a big cappuchino in the nearest coffee place. It's OVER! kicking.gif

Now if she can only find someone to make her an employment letter..... hmmmm.

Does she or her parents have any friends who own/ run a private business?
Have them print a letter on their company letterhead, sign and seal it with their company seal. Show an income of no less than $1500/ month in rouble equivalent.
Show a bank account with $ x,000 in it. She must know how to explain in detail what she does at her work and what are her career plans.

Myself and my wife are going to have no part of it except maybe to send an invitation letter if necessary, but even that looks to be unnecessary.
Anyone out there actually have siblings visit? How???

Exactly my case. In January I obtained a B1-B2 visa through my cousin and her USC husband, without disclosing that I had a fiance in the States. My cousin and her hubby wrote an invitation letter and provided letters from their employers. I provided letter from my employer and my car ownership docs. I own no apartment but my earnings are way above the Moscow average and I was able to persuade the CO that I was focused on pursuing a career in Russia. They questioned me about my job and asked if I was married; I said I had a boyfriend. "A grazhdansky muzh?" - joked the CO. - "Yeah, I guess so..." smile.gif

So I think your sis-in-law has to arrange a fake employment letter, at least, and present herself very confidently at the visa interview. She has a chance.

My fiancee seems to be totally confused - someone told her that she has to get some document from somewhere in Russia that she is leaving Russia and would not be living at the current address (the address whis documented on her passport etc).

This exit stamp and document might be useful when registering with the Russian consulate in the U.S. To vote, for example. But it can be done through the same consulate when already in the States.

Just checking into the new Thailand thread...

Can you cite your source as to the Queen paying the PAD?

Uhhhhh. my wife? LOL! I'll ask her where she heard it from. She seems to know some people who are quite updated and know the extended story past the news media (the why's).

She knows lots about the bombings (maybe because hot news brings fast rumors). One at pratunam was because someone was selling beef and the police and beef mafia wasn't having any of it (also an undercurrent of yellow shirt this is how it's always been done vs red shirt "I need to make a living" age old arguement.

She hates politics but seems to know a bit (who knows what's on general TV since I don't understand enough Thai). I'm not one to spread false stuff so I will do my best to find something better than "the soi dog told my wife and the food vendor told the dog"... Then again, if I knew, then the news would know...that's right, they can't report it.

When she did tell me that (back when they occupied the airport) all of the government, military and police moves were in line with it, so it made too much sense (to the point I was thinking, why didn't I think of that)? I think that also explains why tempers are so hot now because for the first time, the King didn't get involved at all.

Let me table this and I'll have to wait 'till she wakes up to find out where she learned this. I doubt I'll get names since saying that is illegal over there but I'll try to find how she learned this (imagine that....illegal saying such a simple thing that if real, it's the perfect situation...do everything and no one can talk)!

Regarding all the Thaksin posts. They all know (red shirts) he's dirty, a crook, etc but when it comes down to the wire, they directly benefitted (money in their pocket) so they don't care, they're that poor, who does what as long as someone relieves their food/financial/healthcare stress no matter how little since 100% of them are corrupt. They don't realize the magnitude and how much it hurt their country but since when has the 'country" as a whole looked out for them? (Just analyzing if it were me and basing this on what they say when I say Thaksin is a crook...and they say "no one else is standing in line to help us...he's all we've got...we haven't even the king now..."

Your wife and my wife are obviously from the same part of Thailand. She thinks it is true also about the royal family paying the yellow shirts. I don't buy it. Yellow shirts are from Bangkok. They have money already, and I also know Thais here in the U.S. that were financing the cause of the yellow shirts.

I also agree that he is a crook and threw the Isaan people a few crumbs. Compared to how he raped the country while he was PM, I think it's pretty small.

This is a great opportunity for Abhisit and the democrats to get their heads and a$$es wired together and start investing in some projects up country. That would go a long way to marginalize Thaksin. I personally think he is finished now, as are the red shirts.

The rich and middle class in Bangkok would be wise to learn a lesson from all this. Like I said in previous post, my wife already considers the illegals here the same thing as Isaan in Thailand because they seem to be the people doing all the menial labour.

Full disclosure: My wife is from Si Saket. Moved to Bangkok when she was 13. Went to high school in Bangkok and lived and worked there up until we moved to the US. (1.5 years in Chiang Mai before we came actually) She still considers herself Isaan.

My girl is from Issan, Maha Sarakham, to be exact, and she hates Thaksin. Thinks he is a huge crook.
