PhilippinesIs frontloading the I-129f packet necessary?
mathjefe, on 07 Jun 2014 - 12:57 AM, said:

I'm preparing me and my filipina fiance's I-129 packet and I've read a lot about "frontloading"  Is it necessary?  Does it help?  Someone claims it makes the interview easier, is that true?  If it is good to frontload how do I do it?  I have pictures, but not too many, I have boarding passes, expedia reservation confirmation, credit card/bank statements, hotel receipts, yahoo and facebook chat logs, emails and phone records.  What else can I include?  Get some engagement announcements?

I've read some guides so I know I need a cover letter, 2 letters of intent to marry, 2 G-325A's, proof of my citizenship (birth certificate), and passport style photos for both of us.  Anything else?

Thanks

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Oh, an attorney said they could expedite the process because of my disability (I'm basically a quadriplegic), is that possible or is she just trying to make a sale?

You don't need an attorney to file or prepare your documents. A good guide for the entire process is Hank's handy dandy all inclusive the best one out there visa guide found here: http://visaconnection-philippines.com/#1942.gif

It has helped many and is easy to follow with all the necessary links provided (no more searching). And of course ask any question here and there are many knowledgeable people who have gone before you on this same journey that are willing to help.2059.gif

You can get your CFO sticker at NAIA before departure if you have completed the CFO and have a certificate.

You can get your CFO sticker (be sure to bring your certificate with you if you are going to get the sticker at the airport for that matter all locations require your certificate for processing) at Manila NIAI Term 1. NIAI office request that you call ahead 2-3 days to make an appointment. The airport location is open from 5am till 12 midnight - CFO NAIA desk is at terminal 1 (one)... beside TIEZA travel tax desk... between the entrance doors with the x-ray / conveyor machines... PhilippinesPicked up Envelope from 2Go, Corner is Cut. Is This Normal?
Al422, on 09 Jun 2014 - 01:00 AM, said:Al422, on 09 Jun 2014 - 01:00 AM, said:

Candy picked her package up today from 2Go, and the corner of the brown envelope is cut.  A clerk at the 2Go counter said this is normal.  Just wanted to ask the community here about that rather than take one person's word for it.

The cut is not big enough to see the contents of any documents, just to see that there are documents inside.

There are two things you can do.

  1. As this happens A LOT, and is not a terrible thing that should be worried about. Having said that (see #2 below), it's up to you but you can call the Embassy and they'll arrange with you that it will be shipped back to them through 2GO.

You will most likely be instructed to include the passport with the envelope. It will also require a letter of explanation. You will ship it back to the embassy, supposedly without any charge. The embassy will only take about 1 day to turn it around and send it back again by 2GO. So, shipping time x2, plus one business day, is the total time involved.

  1. If the package is not damaged in a way that you can get more than two fingers or a hand in the brown envelope then you will be fine passing through your POE. The Agents at the POE have experience and they know when a package has been compromised and when it is "normal" wear and tear. A tear or cut less then 2cm will not prevent you from traveling through with no problems at your POE.

I swear there are no rules or regulations being followed. Its just the day and mood of the individual that you deal with...

You don't go to the DMV to get a marriage license, do you? There are rules and regs to follow for the problem you are dealing with, but not knowing or not attempting to discover (or follow) what the procedure is can only offer you defeat. The agent at the NSO did not give all the information. Maybe your wife did not ask the right questions. Who knows.

I'm sorry, but you seem to be hard headed. Enough said.   :bonk:

Yes the divorce has been final for more than 5 years. We have the divorce decree. We didnt go to the LR but she was turned away at the NSO office yesterday. They said she cant have it annotated.

She can have it annotated but she has to start with LC first. Then LC must send to NSO. NSO can't do anything till it is filed with the LC and received from the LC.

Put the horse in front of the cart and you will get the cart and the horse moving in the right direction. I've been through this and these are the steps.

PhilippinesMy wife and her "other" husband

How much time and money is that going to cost me? I really don't get how this works legally. her ex husband divorced her and has been married for 6 year, and we have been married 2 years, but this is still an issue. Also I'm not sure if this has any relevance but she already has her CFO certificate.

Is the divorce from the Korean husband final?

Have you filed with Local Register (LR) and NSO?

Do you have similar annotation on the divorce decree/marriage certificate (see below)?

?Pursuant to the decision dated XXXX, rendered by presiding Judge Hon. XXXX the XX Circuit Court, in XXX City, under civil case No. XXXX, Judgment is hereby rendered approving the divorce of herein petitioners thereby severing and terminating their marriage bond. Petitioners are hereby ordered to faithfully comply with the terms of the Divorce Agreement. Let the divorce be registered in the registry book on Divorce. Petitioner-wife is granted the authority to revert back to return to the use of her maiden name XXX XXX XXX in all her papers or documents?.

If you have the annotation you are good to go otherwise it is my opinion your case is still in limbo and may have an effect on your visa interview.

You don?t need a lawyer to send the paperwork through the system to get it annotated. Just follow my steps in my earlier post. Start with your LR in her local community and explain your situation and they will instruct her along to complete this. It will cost you some money but it is not a great deal.

GreenbaumMalePhilippines2014-04-23 08:59:00
PhilippinesMy wife and her "other" husband

Here are the steps to complete all the documentation for a solid annotated annulment/divorce. We just went through this in Oct and we were approved. Remember, you will see the Filipino CO first and if your document for the annotated annulment is not correct you will be refused at that point, never making it to the US CO. When the Filipino CO passes your documents to the US CO he is claiming that all your papers, as presented, clear all Filipino Laws and are legal in the "eyes of the Filipino Government". Then onto the US CO. Once you are with the US CO, after passing muster with the Filipino CO then you stand on the merits of your case as a whole.

:secret: Your fiancée will need the decision of the annulment, entry of judgment, then the decree of annulment. Next, she needs to secure a copy of the marriage contract with the annulment annotated on it. A total of four documents. BTW, if there is already a decision, she needs to wait 20 days from receipt of the Solicitor General of copy of her decision before she can secure the Entry of Judgment. After securing the Entry of Judgment, she will have to register the same to the Local Civil Registrar where the marriage took place (if she married overseas then it will be the LCR of her home community). The said office will transmit the same to the NSO. She will show the Court what date the LCR transmitted the documents to the NSO. With the proof of receipt of the NSO, the Court will then issue the Decree of Annulment. After 15 days from receipt of the NSO from her documents, she can now request for copy of the marriage contract with the annotated annulment proceedings. She should request at least 4 copies for future use.

It's a tedious process, but remember DAVID.... only Goliath stands in your way.

Hi! My visa status is still administrative processing but I am thinking ahead.

Will it be ok if I purchase a round trip ticket or will it be an issue at the immigration? The price of a one-way ticket is almost the same, if not more expensive, than round trip. I am asking this question regardless of whether or not I will be able to use the ticket coming back.

Thanks in advance for any input. ??

Call different airlines (PAL, Delta, American etc.) as some will give a discount for first time immigration. It can save you a couple of hundred dollars on your ticket.

Use many of the airline websites and those like Travelocity, Kayak, Expedia to name a few.  Also, be flexible with your departure dates as a Tuesday could be cheaper than a Saturday departure.

Buying a round trip ticket is not an issue. Keep in mind that you may be require to use a return date when booking as "open return date" tickets can be more expensive.

Try an agent to book and buy your tickets. I heard good things about this person:

First you will have difficulty finding a job and if you do the wage will be much less than your use to finding in the US.

To stay in the Philippines for more than a year will require trips out of the country to renew your status. One benefit if you marry your fiancee and you leave the country with her and then return, you can avail yourself of the balikbayan visa. Do a google search for more information.

This topic has been discussed before so do a search in vj and you will get returns showing answers to your questions.

Yup that is correct, we did ROM and passport renewal at the same time.

No you can not do ROM and passport renewal at the same time, your ROM has to be done in S.F. and your passport renewal in Chicago.

Philippine Embassy in Washington would not allow us to do both ROM and Pass Renew at the same time. Stated that I must have ROM completed before making the appointment.  Otherwise...

PhilippinesQ: Report of Marriage, Passport renewal? - different U.S. embassy jurisdictions?

   Dear Fellow VJ members,

We (Inday and RK) have read over past ROM (Report of Marriage) and passport renewal posts (plus requirements listed on embassy sites) for both ROM and passport renewal so we understand the general idea as well as are aware of details of submissions.  We are just seeking some clarifications for our particular situation.

Here is our situation:  In February of 2012, married in a U.S. state for which SF embassy has jurisdiction.  Since December 2011 until now, living in a U.S. state for which Chicago embassy has jursidiction.  Didn't fill out ROM previously--did nto find out about this form until a little while ago.  Inday's Philippine passport still in maiden name but would like to renew with chosen married name (Inday maiden-as-middle husband-surname-as-last).  Inday's passport not up for renewal for another year or two, however, thinking to renew prior to a hoped for visit to Philippines in beginning of July of this year.  We understand ROM must be done prior to passport renewal in order to get passport with chosen married name.  There are no outreach programs near or anyway close to our current residence that we know of so looks like a trip to Chicago and/or SF will be required.

     Questions:

            1.  Do we have to send ROM to SF and do passport renewal in Chicago?  Or can both be done, say, at Chicago?

            2.  Whatever the case, do we have time to get renewed passport before July?

            3.  Is/are there any other considerations which we should be aware of in our case of which any of you may be aware?

Thank you much--you all have been very helpful to and informative for us over the years and all is appreciated.

Most Sincerely,

Inday and RK

You will do ROM in the jurisdiction that your marriage took place and now that you live in Chicago you must appear in person to change the passport. The ROM takes about 2 weeks as we just completed our this week. We have an outreach here in NC next week (your right, you need the ROM completed so that you can change the passport) from the Phil Embassy Washington DC. I am not sure how long the passport will take. You can call the consulate in Chicago and ask them or maybe some one here will give you an answer as I am curious also. But we are not traveling any time soon so we are not pressed for time.

Hi everyone, I would like to seek your advice. My fiance has already paid the visa fee in Philippines. We have completed gathering all the required documents needed for the interview. Now, we are just waiting to get an interview appointment date (which right now there are currently no available appointments). My fiance was diagnosed with TB but has completed treatment already. To my understanding, St. Lukes Medical requires individuals with any lesions on their chest xray to undergo sputum exam. You have to wait 2 months for the results to come back for them to clear your medical.

I don't have an appointment date available as of now. Do you think I should just go ahead and do the medical now since he still needs to undergo the sputum exam and wait 2 months. And I'm sure within that two months of waiting for the result, I can get an appointment date (aiming for an interview date that is after the date of when the results of the sputum test is released and the medical is cleared)?

Please advice. It's all about timing, and I want to get things out of the way as much as I can so I don't have to wait longer.

Thank you!

roxanne23, on 11 Jun 2014 - 04:52 AM, said:

Is the medical valid for only 3 months? Do you know what that means? Does it mean you have to leave the Philippines within that validity date?

You need an appointment with USEM to schedule and complete your medical at SLEC. So pay your interview fee and grab a date. Have your interview while waiting for your results. The Embassy will issue a 221(g) delaying your visa until such time that they receive your medical results from SLEC. If everything is fine with your medical then your visa will be issued if they have given you an approval. The embassy will extend your visa up to a year automatically pending your medical results. That should be plenty of time for you to complete your exam and tests.

If you go and have your medical and they fine no concerns with your previous TB then they may pass you at that time which affords you the opportunity to continue your visa process without delay. So get a interview date and then schedule your medical.

She passed with no further problems, but she also said some others flunked due to lack of proper paperwork. Like Hank said they usually are looking for your mother's maiden name. That's been the trick question along with landline phone number that they have been using for the last year. Don't know why other than they think it proves a relationship.

To answer your question " I don't know what would have happened if I wasn't available to take her questions and reply instantly" they would have failed her. She then would have to return and try again or go to the Manila location.  I think some of the others who failed did so because of paperwork errors, landline question, not confident, lack of information to other questions about their relationship or the names of the parents question. Just my 2 cents.

Well with your help she passed so the journey continues. Good luck.

By the way, the websites of all the other Philippines Consulates in the U.S. and U.S. Territories don't even mention submitting an original birth certificate.  They simply call for submitting four photocopies.

"One" is still the correct answer.   :pop:

We just completed ours at the D.C. Philippine consulate and they required an original OR certified copy plus 4 copies of the Marriage Certificate or Contract . They returned the original with the completed paperwork.

I quote: "One (1) original or certified true copy and four (4) photocopies of the Marriage Certificate or Contract (original will be returned)"

i checked CEAC shows all fees paid,DS 261 and 260 completed, but docs shows N/A....im stressing out on this one..do i need to send the docs again...NVC gave me a false checklist asking for all documents again..is it possible to resend all the docs>>>a rep from NVC told us they got the response to RFE last May 23rd and reviewing it....What does this mean? am I redoing everything...they just sent an email saying they got AOS...the whole process is stressing me out......

Here is the problem with the process.... "US". We stress too much. 2049.gif   If we let it roll like it supposed to it usually does move and get completed. It's the nature of the beast.

Relax, stop looking and stressing yourself. Try and enjoy your life and all that you have in it.

You'll hear something soon I am sure.  1945.gif

are they going to look for my birth certificate on my fiancees interview? I forgot to send her a copy. But she has a copy of my passprt info page and certificate of my citizenship.

Scan a copy of your BC and email it to her so she can print it off. A copy is fine for the interview.  1942.gif

PhilippinesHow Long Interview to Visa In Hand

As for the question of the OP, ours took 2 weeks 6 days exactly.  But the times are all over the place.  Some of the factors we can see and even control, but most we cannot.  If you opt to pick your visa up at 2Go instead of delivering to your home you get faster service, especially if your home is in remote province.

But most factors determining speed defy rhyme or reason.  Over the last month or so  I have seen 2 days, 3 months and everything in between.  Most are 2 to 3 weeks, but will yours be?  Since most factors determining time seem to defy reason, I really can't tell you.  Nor is CEAC a reliable indicator.  Ours stayed at READY for over a week, then jumped from READY to AP to ISSUED in a day.  Some do that, and some don't.

The best thing you can do is check CEAC once a day.  4 PM Manila time is the best choice for time to check it since most changes seem to happen 2 to 3 PM

Once CEAC shows ISSUED, give it a day then look at 2Go website.  If they have no record of your file, that just means 2Go did not log it into their system yet.  Check the next day and it should be there.  You can also look at ustrtaveldocs, the website where you got your interview date in the first place.  For us, one day after ISSUED, ustraveldocs said NO RECORD.  Not a problem.  Just means it is moving to the last stop before it goes into 2Go.  Check the next day and they should have record of it.

BTW today I collect my bride at JFK Airport.  Flight lands in about 4 hours.

When she is in your arms all the waiting just melts away. God's speed on your health and here's to your new life with Candy.

You have heard of a visa being held up for lack of the LOI?  In the last 3 years?  I have not read of anyone even being asked for the LOI.

I agree not needed and never asked for. If OP feels a need then like you said send one.
