Expect and plan for two day SLEC visit. If your in the front of the line there is a good chance you will only have a one day visit but that's only if everything flows properly and no complications like delays in your process. Plan for two days but if you finish in one.... Hey it's happy days. :joy:

PhilippinesTourist Visa for Parent/s - 74 yrs old Mom, leaving alone in PI....

I don't like being a stick in the mud, but I think there should be some "buyer beware" advice.

Have you talk this over with your husband?

Do you know what you will do, what are the processes and what are the costs associated with a parent who passes away in the USA. Does she get buried in the US or in the Philippines. What are the costs? What is the red tape in sending her back to the Philippines?

What happens if she gets sick. Who is going to pay. YOU? Have you look into the costs for health insurance for a parent?

It might be a better Idea to make a trip to the Philippines more frequetly to visit then have her move to the USA.

Just something to think about.

Thank you so much Zedayn. Until now i am still waiting for a vacant slot from time to time, trying to see if i could get any luck.  It is okay to go for medical exam even if i still don't have a schedule for my interview right?  I will arrive in Manila tomorrow morning and i am planning to have a medical exam on Monday. While preparing the documents needed by SLEC, it says i have to provide 2 copies of visa interview appointment letter and 2 copies of appointment letter/ instruction letter.. what is the difference between the two?

Keep in mind that the validity date for your visa begins with the date of your medical; 6 months. So six months from your medical your visa will expire so without a interview date you maybe making a mistake here by doing your medical early. I'm just saying.

I also have a 2mo old daughter so me having TB would be disastrous.

As a parent I would think that catching TB early and getting cured would be first on your list, as TB can kill.  2005.gif   I'm sure your daughter would appreciate growing up with a mother.  1975.gif

So IMHO, it would behoove you to get checked out and if need be, follow the regiment that SLEC will lay out for you to be cured if TB is found.   1942.gif

If you don't take the medical exam at SLEC then you have given up on ever going to USA. As it was said, you must past your exam to be eligible for a visa.2019.gif

PhilippinesTB Testing

My wife was nervous like most are when it comes to TB testing. To calm her nerves I agreed to let her go ahead and have a chest x-ray of herself and two children prior to her SLEC exam. She had a friend who worked with a pulmonologist and was able to have all three tested at a reduced rate. The exam showed negative results and that is exactly what she experienced a few weeks later at SLEC.

The SLEC exam is only to find if you are currently afflicted with a contagious or communicable disease of public health significance. That would include but not limited to "polio, smallpox, SARS, influenza".  If you have questions to what all this means you can find further information here: http://www.cdc.gov/i...uestions.html#4

BTW, there is no "witch-doctor cure" as in drink lots of milk so,  don't waste your time or money on trying to change the outcome as it is impossible.  Just be positive and get your SLEC exam over.

PhilippinesCFO tips. A review ( June 25, 2014)

When using C4C set the refresh time somewhere between 2 and 4 seconds. That's what others have reported that worked for them. Anything more and others will snag the date before you. Just keep at it. Your date will appear and you too will have an appointment.

That one may not be explained but at this juncture you should be looking forward and keep your eye on the ball. This is the only way you will get an appointment as so many are chasing them. You're lucky that you are on VJ and getting tips like this. You surely will beat out the competition with a score of one visa appointment.

customheat, on 30 Jun 2014 - 1:38 PM, said:customheat, on 30 Jun 2014 - 1:38 PM, said:

We would like to thank everyone for their invaluable input and information on this site. We have paid our fee and signed up to make an appointment online. So far no appointments are available. We noticed that the dashboard photos other members have posted shows on the top left side-Schedule Appointment. Ours shows- Continue-New Application/Schedule Appointment. Are we doing something wrong? Please see attachments. The first one is ours. The other is what others are posting. Why the difference?

You're seeing your Dashboard (DB) blank because right now there are no appointments available. Until one becomes available you will see a complete "white" space after your menu's that you see on the left side of your DB. (see the link at the bottom of the page for additional diagrams and page snapshots)

There have been others who have been using a script to help in getting a appointment. Here are the details.

I recommend using c4c (check4change at http://www.check4change.com/ ) with a refreshing window every 2-4 seconds from the dashboard using custom menu of c4c to nab an appointment that comes available.  The software will check for any changes on the website for the time you choose to set. Be sure to turn off your computer sleep mode so that the computer remains on.

If you do not have Firefox installed you can get a copy here for free: http://www.mozilla.o...US/firefox/new/  Yes, install Firefox just to use c4c coz the add-on for Chrome and Internet Explore (IE) didn't really work that well. I tried them on a test website before using it grab a new date or for some any date, just to see how the add on works.

Highlight the entire DB so that C4C will see a change to the webpage; you can do this from the settings page.

As soon as the C4C alarm goes off on DB page, forget looking for a date, you lose too much time. At the top left, hit continue, C4C will give you a pop-up, cancel or OK ,  quickly hit Ok on the pop-up  It should take you to next page, scroll down to bottom right, quickly hit continue, at this point if your lucky your page will refresh then a 30 day calendar will appear, mash the 1st available date.... practice the speed drill on the DB page. Good Luck

If C4C alarmed because either you were too slow, or a power problem. The first being more likely. Make sure your computer settings are set to 'no sleep'.

Thanks to all that have contributed their experience, especially ROB187.

PhilippinesInterview Documents?
McBy, on 23 Jun 2014 - 11:22 PM, said:

Thank you for all your responses. If in case they will ask it from me, does anybody know how long it usually takes for administrative processing for the documents lacking?

That's a question not easily answered and depends on what it is that needs to be corrected or resubmitted to USEM. You are working with governmental agencies and they work at their own pace.

Personal experience we had a 221(g) and had to have an updated NBI from some old cases that did not show on the original NBI. So, she had to fly back to Manila, (she was in Manila the week before and tried to submit the paperwork but NBI would do anything till they received the letter from USEM requesting an updated NBI with corrections - so more expense) present the paperwork, get a clean NBI which they sent to USEM (about a week) and then the CO reexamined our paperwork and we were approved a week later. This was before Yolanda expedites so your experience can be different.

Best recommendation is to having all your papers in order, read VJ to see what others faced and make any adjustments to eliminate their downfall happening to your process.

I'm sorry I can't be much more help.  Good luck .2059.gif

We were wrong.  It takes 6 months after opening an account to get a bank draft.  The only banks we have spoken to that will do a bank draft in Hong Kong dollars are HSBC and PNB.  However, they will not allow you to do a bank draft until 6 months!   I also tried contacting bank of america (as I have an account there) to see if they could send me a bank draft withdrawn from my account but they said it was not possible.

We are in a serious bind over this issue, as our K1 Visa and CRBA interviews are in three weeks while we have spent the last month trying to simply get this bank draft so we can get the police certificate.  Has no one managed to get a bank draft in Hong Kong dollars without having an account open at one of these banks?  Can anyone please help us?

Thank you.

Have you read some "older" threads on this subject? Maybe this will help http://www.visajourn...arance-problem/

If you have a friend living in HK that you trust maybe you can send everything to them plus wire the money and asked that they complete the transaction in the monetary note in which HK Police require as well as hand deliver your documents and payment to HK offices as noted in the instructions/website.

Zedayn is right.

You will pass through immigration first in Chicago, then you will retrieve your luggage and pass through customs. At this point you are now authorized to travel anywhere in the Continental United States or what we refer to as Domestically.

Once you pass through customs in Chicago then you will take your luggage to your next gate for your Newark bound trip. Once you arrive in Newark just go to baggage claim and get your luggage and meet your people. You will not need to travel through customs or immigration.

Welcome to the United States of America.

PhilippinesK2 Questions, Requirements?
McBy, on 05 Jul 2014 - 07:05 AM, said:

Hi, can you please share your experience if you had a K2 derivative? What were the questions asked and what were the requirements you needed to submit?

In our case, our 2 K2's were not asked many questions. The daughter was asked what was she studying (she is a University Student at the time), was she going to work in US and her new address in USA. The son (elementary age) was asked, what do you call him and he replied Tito Denny. Also, was asked what do you do when he is with you? So the CO was using the questions to determine if there was a connection or a beginning of "bonding" between me and them.

Not many more questions then that but they were age specific. Just instruction your K2's to answer honestly and to look the CO in the eye when answering and you should have no problems.1943.gif

PhilippinesDelaying Interview Date for K1 Visa

I had heard the economy in California is still in a recession. Great job voters of Cali for voting for Obama.

I just don't see it worth the wait to have her stay over there working for peanuts.

California BON will have to do a credential Evaluation on her Transcript and now of days you must have a Social Security number to in order to submit a application to the Board there. By the time you get your girl here and she does her AOS and get her EAD and she studys for NCLEZX you maybe be looking in the year 2016.

For me I would get her hear and get her started so she can start looking for job in US, I see it as wasting time her working any longer in Philippines.

Once she has her work experience as US Nurse of at least one year then she can get another part time job as a RN at another hospital and make 30% more then she makes at her full time job with benefits

The OP's outlook is it's about us not about ME!! Think about it.

Been here for almost a month now, still not doing any filling as far as getting my SSN. We are planning to get married in Texax as soon as possible, but we are currently living in Colorado, why in Texas? His whole family lives there.

Questions;

1. What do I need to file or get while waiting for our wedding day? Is it correct that I need to get my SSN while waiting for my wedding?

2. If we are going to get marry in Texas, is it not going to extend or having possible delays in the future about my papers? If there is anyone of you lives in Colorado nor Texas and already married, I'm willing to hear your whole story also.

3. My Fiance started to open a bank account for me, would that be helpful in the future for me as far as gathering my requirements?

Thank you so much.

Well you will need to get your I94 which is easy as you file online (some reading material http://www.ice.gov/d...-fact-sheet.pdf and apply at ICE's website http://www.cbp.gov/t...94-instructions)

Then take that document to SSN and file for a social security number (card).

Get your Marriage License

You will need to do a ROM (Report of Marriage) but here is the kicker it needs to be filed with the Philippine Consulate General Los Angeles as they have jurisdiction over Texas but NOT Colorado.

For the AOS interview there is a strong possibility that you will be asked for proof of co-mingling of your accounts including bank, credit cards, utilities, insurances (health, life and car) etc. So if he is going to open an account for you, that's find but it would be better to be authorized on the "family account".

There is more but it's slips my mind.... others will chime in and help with any that I have missed.

Hank had a good suggestion with the Large Black clip which works well. Don't go overboard with your organization. If you use the cover letter use it as a checklist that all documents are included in the package and in order. This will give the agent easy access to find your documents.

You may want to add a cover sheet. Here is an example:

Thanks for the response Hank!  That's all fine and dandy but they should not take your money if they can't provide an appointment date. So now what, wait for the case to "age out" and get an emergency appointment in 2 months ?  Interesting - so all these victims of yolanda are somehow getting K1 Visa's to the U.S. ?

Well, by taking your money it insures a couple of things; one is that you are still serious about attaining your visa (some drop out by now do issues in their relationship or money). The process timeline before was that you were able to get an appointment sooner then what you are experiencing now without and extended period. So the "new" experience is that the Embassy is very busy accommodating Yolanda expedites hence long wait between payment of fees and actual interview.

Cases are not aging out so don't get so far ahead of yourself.

Yes, the K1 victims of Yolanda are getting "special treatment" as they have lost the most and need to be helped and this is a small way in which the US Gov't has responded to Yolanda as well as other help to the victims of this horrific tragedy.

So I suggest you sit back and relax and have some patience and the trip will go much smoother. You might want to read some of the other threads to get a better idea what you are personally able to do to speed your process. I'll even help you with this thread http://www.visajourn...k-1-scheduling/

Everyone is chasing for a date and now it is becoming the luck of the draw. We have never seen it this bad before, but having said that I have not been on here as long as others ie Hank.

I can appreciate what you going through. As you know, this is the only way your going to get through to get a visa. So don't give up.

It is the end of May, I have been trying to get an appointment for a week and nothing.

I get the dreaded "There are currently no appointments available"

What else can we do?

There is nothing more you can do. July dates will be released soon but no one knows for sure.

Follow Hank's advice and keep checking for any date that opens and grab it.

Good luck.

PhilippinesMEDICAL AT ST. LUKE'S

Ah okie! I will register online now....i thought there's an expiration date when you register!! Thank you! ????

The medical date is the expiration date of your visa when issued so doing your medical too far in advance of your visa approval can cut the "back end" before you travel short.

For example: You do the medical July 30 but you have a Sept 30 interview date and your visa is approved and delivered to you on Oct 10. January 30 your visa will expire. So six months from your medical of July 30 is January 27 2015.

So be careful of the scheduling of your medical.

I haven't asked .. What should be the income?

The income for 2 (two) at the required 125% threshold should be $19,663.
