PhilippinesPsych Evaluation for Annuled at SLEC
hon08, on 06 Aug 2014 - 12:20 PM, said:

Had my medicals last July 30. Since I am annulled I need to go thru Psych Evaluation which really caused delay on my medicals..My (2) K2 are done with their immunizations and I am the one pending.. :)

I was scheduled last Aug.4 for Psych Evaluation..It was a only 10 mins. one on one with the Psych, all he did was reading he never glanced at me but seriously reading what I have written in the form which I filled up before I was scheduled to see him, confirming everything what was written there and asked me to tell him about the annulment. I never showed confidence during the Q&A time with him, my voice obviously made a great show of nervousness at that time but luckily I was able to answer all his Q's, I hope I did answer everything in a manner that would satisfy and convince him that I am not insane.. :) then he handed me back my papers..and said "GOOD LUCK,you may go home now and call the number that was attached in your receipt after 4-5 days.."

I hope he won't be referring me to PEPS in Quezon City anymore and that well wishes he said to me wasn't a GOOD LUCK for PEPS EXAM ,I am praying so hard and keeping myself positive for best result tomorrow..I don't wanna be referred to PEPS since I've read here that it will take 2 weeks for the results..

My interview will be next week and I can't afford to cancel it..as it took me almost 2 months waiting for open dates online.

Hoping and Praying for best result tomorrow. :)

You can still go to your interview. If there is anything that is missing or needed the CO will let you know in the 221(g) that you will receive. That's not a bad thing as it quite frankly can indicate you are approved pending the out come of the information that the CO needs.

I just want to ask an advice from you. Do you know any cheap hotel nearby Mall of Asia? I am planning to move to a hotel closer to Mall of Asia so in case i need to pick up my visa it will be faster for me to get there. As much as possible i would like it to be walking distance, if not.. maybe less than 30 minutes drive by jeepney.

Thank you in advance.

There is a pinned thread on the first page that says "Hotels in Manila". Have you had a chance to look through it? Nice thing about the listing is that most have their homepage html address. Just click and have a look. Google also is your best friend. And Agoda is another place to go. Also you can search in the archives here in VJ, just enter your search term in the box above and to the right. The box says "search".

I agree with you Yannix. When I fly to Manila I always arrive at 11pm and there are no flights out till morning. Love the lounge area in Manila.... just a cold floor and can't find much in the way of electricity to charge your phone and touchpad or computer. Next morning out at 5 am and on my way to OZ. I can see why Manila never makes the top 100 airports to fly into. 2017.gif

On long trips, like the one you are about to take, I try to avoid layovers more than 2-3 hours as it makes what is a long trip unbearable. Just my opinion.

Well, the answer to your question is contained in this thread. Go to Hank's post (it's the one just above yours) and click on the RED arrow and follow the directions. If you have questions return back to VJ and many of us will answer them.

It's a very easy process and there are lots of people here who have gone through it. What I like about Hank's instructions are you follow them as you would a timeline. Do the first one, then the next one and then the following one and soon you will have your visa in your hands.  Relax you will get through this.

The important thing is to get all your documents together as you are in the beginning of the process and you won't be rushed near the end. Remember, US and Phil Governments do not rush as much as you wish for them to.

Good luck.

PhilippinesGreenCard Married name, Phil Passport Maiden name
Shimbabol09, on 08 Aug 2014 - 5:20 PM, said:

HI fellow Pinoys. Mabuhay!

Married pinay here, permanent resident.

I am about to renew my passport (expiring this November), is it okay to retain my maiden name? No problem to change it to my married name but it just takes a lot of processing like i have to submit a Report of Marriage and i don't know how long it will gonna take. (the outreach program of Phil Embassy on my area is this month) and i just need my passport to be done because im planning to have a trip this year. But i will sure put on my passport app form that i am married and will put husband's name so as not to violate RA 8239 (false statement in passport app form).

My question is, is it allowed that i choose not to use my married name to renew, or by law, i am obliged to use my married name?

One more thing, i will be filing my application for naturalization on February 2015 (will be a US Passport holder next year) so I will be using this Phil passport just one time because of an schedule big reunion this coming holiday.

thank you very much for the response. God bless.

Like Hank said all can be done at the outreach. The ROM takes about 1-2 weeks to receive. The Passport takes about a month.

You will save yourself a lot of headaches as you will have to always explain why the difference in the names and you will be required to carry with you documents to prove who you are i.e. marriage certificate. Save yourself the hassle and change your name so everything is the same.

PhilippinesWhat to bring for my K2's during our Interview

Hello VJ members..

I would like to ask who have gone through with interview together with (2)K2..aged 16 and 9 years old..
Do I need to bring their school records? I did not enroll them this year anymore, but got them into tuitorials and KUMON instead.

What are the common questions to be asked from them so I could prepare them with their Interview.

Hoping for your insights..Thanks in advance!!

God bless!!

Just have stand with you and when spoken to smile an answer any questions asked of them. There will be very few but on the asked of my two is what do you call him? They answered Titto xxxxx. That was it. The CO's attention will be more on you then them. Relax, you'll do fine.

At some point in the future, maybe when I retire, we are considering returning there. Could we purchase a house now and rent it out for a number of years without jeopardizing the visa process?

At this point we haven't even started looking, we are just exploring the options available to us.

Thanks.

Real Estate will not interfere with the visa process. There are no forms to fill out, or any requirements to divulge any information in the visa process to any authority (ie. CFO or the CO at USEM).

For additional guidelines I suggest looking at this link as I think it spells it out in laymen's terms. http://real-estate-g.../foreigners.htm

Ready for interview... so it makes me worry

Each time the date changes someone, like Hank said, has touched your file for any number of reasons. The wait can be unbearable 2034.gif  but the best thing to do is stop looking every day and start looking ever other day. We just finished our AOS and I didn't look for three weeks because I knew when they were ready they were going to send me a text message and my phone would say "you got mail" and there was the text for approval.

As long as you are seeing "movement" on CEAC then your in good shape. Relax soon this journey will move to the next step and the waiting begins again. Lol. We just heard today that my wife's green card has been approved and it is in the mail. That was another 6 month wait but for some it will turn into a year. Then there is ROC after that then Nat after that. So learn from this experience that patience is needed every step of the way.

I have been checking online for open slots for interview and all of a sudden they have available slot for April 1 and 4th.  It just doesn't give my fiancé enough time for medical.

Any suggestions?

Should I have my fiancé go to St Luke's this week for his medical and hopes we get a slot for interview in the next couple of weeks?

You are required to have a scheduled appointment for your interview at USEM. You will be required to present your appointment letter sent by the National Visa Center or an e-mail confirmation from the Visa Information and Appointment Service or you may print off a copy of your appointment confirmation page after you have scheduled your appointment online to begin your medical exam.

You can do your medical ASAP but the results may not make it in time for the interview. If this is the case, you can still proceed with the interview and if you pass, you will receive a 221(g) . It is often the case when an applicant for a visa is told that a final decision cannot be made on their visa application immediately. (Your case would be pending the results of SLEC medical exam)  In doing so, the consular officer invokes Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act and informs the applicant that the case will be put on hold until the applicant?s eligibility for the visa can be determined. This processing ?time-out? is taken frequently. Once the medical exam "catches up" with the pending visa application a determination will be made. in your case the consular officer requires additional time, information (your SLEC results), or documentation before making a final visa decision. Typically it's not a big deal but be aware that it can add additional weeks to your visa approval notification.

PhilippinesNo criminal record on NBI Clearance. Pls help :(

Hi everyone!

I got my NBI Clearance just this month and it says No Criminal Record. I have a theft case from 2 years ago that was immediately dismissed after a couple hearings. I have my interview scheduled this month as well for my K1 visa. I just have a couple questions.

Will I get automatically denied because of that? I deeply regret what happened before and I hope I wont get denied. Also, I've been in the US before and been nothing but good there. Also about the letter of explanation from NBI, can I get it before my interview or should I wait for the embassy to ask for it after the interview? I've did some research about it and just confused whether to wait for their 221G or if its even possible to get it before the interview so I'll be prepared then. And lastly, what other documents will I need for this case besides the letter of explanation from NBI? I have a letter from the hall of justice that my case was already dismissed.

Im really worried and I hope this wont affect my chances of getting approved. I hope someone could help me out on this and give me some light and insights. Thank you so much!!

Hank is right. What I'd like to add is that you will be given instructions to go to the Manila NBI office which at that time you will want to have all your documentation and court papers showing your case was dismissed. NBI will enter the information into the system and then generate a reply to USEM.

If your case was dismissed you will be fine.

PhilippinesPhilippine Passport Renewal Los Angeles
I don't have a good phone number but may I suggest that you call the Washington DC consular services and see if they can put a trace on it.

Passports are sent to the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila for printing and issuance maybe you can find a phone number for that location.

Parenting 101: Redirect... Redirect. Keep in your bag "new" toys that he has never played with as it's new and different to him. For boys, I recommend things to put together or build. The best thing I found were Legos. Boys love to make things and Legos are so simple and you don't need a 1000 pc kit to keep him happy. Buy something that is simple for his age to put together. They love to make monsters and things that go as in vehicles. Reading to your child with picture books works also. Be interactive and ask questions of the character or theme of the book.

A tablet with lots of games on it will certainly entertain him. Don't over feed your child as this might possibly give him indigestion and now you have a whole new problem on your hands.

You will be fine Mom. Now relax and worry about the steps you need to complete to get to that day when you have this "new challenge" as you fly your way to America. Happy Trails.

PhilippinesMedical Exam Manila - Best day to go?

The best day to go is any day that ends in "day". Like Mon-day or Tues-day Et cetera.   1942.gif  You will need, in most cases, two days to complete SLEC. Yes some have completed the exam and vaccinations in one day, but those are the ones who have "all their ducks in a row" as it is rare that exams are completed in one day. Children should not attend on Fri-day's because they need at least three days to conclude their TB skin test. Adults who do their exam on Fri-day will find that they will need to return for vaccinations on Mon-day if they cannot finish in one day. So there is no delay in your interview results at USEM, be sure to allow at least a week for the results to arrive prior to your interview.

IMHO, plan on any day that works for you because in the end it really doesn't matter.

All your answers are contained in Hank's nifty difty all in one K1 guide. Click on this link and select the tab "NVC - USEM Process" for you and walk down the list step by step and low and behold you will have your visa in hand with little or no problems.

PhilippinesROM and passport renewal

We just were approved for our green card and every document to included EAD and AP, AOS, SS and green card and also ROM all contained the normal Filipino naming context First, Maiden family name, and husbands last name. Keep in mind we did not have a AOS interview so never crossed that bridge.

Philippineswhat is $165.00 fee for greencard?

The charge this fee to cover the expense of generating your green card. Yes, you will need to pay before you leave for the US or you risk not getting the green card as planned. When you receive your visa package from DOS and before you depart for the United States you'll need to pay the $165.00 fee. You can pay it after you arrive in the United States, but you're risking a longer wait to receive your green card.

"Foreign nationals who seek permanent residence in the United States and receive an immigrant visa from the Department of State need to pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee online before departing for the United States."

PhilippinesMy Fiance' is freaking out

My fiance' is freaking out, because her neighbor has told her that as of 2013 now Americans have to visit their fiance' a minimum of 3X's to get the K-1 VISA through the Manila office.  Is there ANY truth to that. It is the first time I have ever heard of anything like that.  Her neighbor just finished her Medical, and yes he did visit 3X's to get enough evidence.  I guess I need enlightened/reassured that I won't have to visit 3X's before she can come over.  I love visiting PI, but I want to start my life soon with my fiance' here ASAP.

Thanks

Only one visit within the past two years is necessary to meet the USEM requirements for a K1 visa.

PhilippinesFather has been overstaying in the US, I'm applying for K1 visa

I have talked to him about it and we've both decided that he comes home a week before my interview date.

Will that suffice? Do I need to bring evidence that he actually is in the Philippines?

Thanks

You understand that he could face not ever getting a visa again or possible suspension penalties of 3 or 5 years. Sometimes its better to correct the overstay from the US than from the Philippines. Has he talked to a immigration lawyer to see what his options are?
