4. No talking mess about people's SO, if you don't know them
5. No bad mouthing any one's nationality, culture, or place of birth

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC scheduling Interview @ Embassy for IR1/CR1 visa

Is there any one on VJ that interview was actually scheduled by the NVC. This process is only for the IR1/CR1 visa applicants. I would like to understand the process. Once your case was completed at the NVC how soon was the automatic system updated to indicate that an interview had been scheduled? Did it list the date of the interview? Was the interview for the next month or was it a couple of months out. Did the NVC rep ever tell you that an interview date was scheduled or did you have to wait until you got a letter in the mail? Any insight that you can provide is greatly appreciated!

For Jamaica the process of the NVC scheduling interviews was just implemented in June. I know there are other countries where the NVC was already scheduling interviews. Per the NVC interview are schedule the 2nd week each month for the next month. My case was completed Jun 25. I did not get a date in July. The NVC is not very helpful. :wacko: And I can not seem to locate anyone who has been through this process :help:

Jenice

Very good topic to start Jenice. I am curious as to this new process, because when I file at in November, I will be going through this new process. It would be enlightening to know the process and what to expect from the new change. I think this should be pinned in the Yardies thread.

Proud a yu girl.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC Holidays
Hello all that are at the NVC stage;

Now that we have three major holidays coming up (thanksgiving, christmas and new years), does anyone know how NVC operates during this period. Does things slow down? Do they close down for a whole week or only on the holiday day itself? Just a thought that came into my mind on my drive home from work tonight, day dreaming about going home to Mike. As you can see by my timeline in my signature, his visa is being processed and the next two months are optimal times for him. Even though his is a relative, it follows the same path as the CR-1 visa petition.

Any ideas or thoughts to share? unsure.gif unsure.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)IV fee
Hey you guys, thanks for the response. Due to my utter excitement and being overwhelmed, I did not read the cover letter and each bill in its entirety. It states on each of the bill:--

"If this fee bill is not for the principal applicant and you are listed on the petition but not travelling with the principal applicant, you must provide that information to the NVC immediately. Do not pay this fee."

I think that this means I only have to pay for the principal immigrant seeing that he is the only one travelling. YAH kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

What do you think is the best way to notify the NVC of this change? Letter or e-mail or phone call? I know it is a pain to get through to an operator, but I think I will e-mail them and try calling them in the meantime. I plan on sending the IV bill this Friday, because I will be working Mon-Wed from 7am to 7pm and will not be able to get to the bank or USPS until they reopen on Friday. crying.gif crying.gif crying.gif

Last Friday, I got out of work at 12n and thought about getting the MO, but shrugged off because I wanted to be 100% sure about the fees and not having the MO too long. Not that I don't trust the advice and info I read on VJ but I am always skeptical. rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Hey Wanda;

I recently received and submitted what I think is packet #3. Since you are a CR-1/IR-1, all your docs will need to be submitted to the NVC being that Kingston is now an appointment post.

They will send you a letter directing you to the DOS site and you will need to download the DS-230 (if you have not already done so) and submit a copy with only the second page signed, along with originals of beneficiary's birth cert, police cert, marriage cert. and biographic page of passport (page with his pic).

I think that was all. Please make sure your SO signs the police cert. I think I might be getting a RFE for the unsigned one I sent in. I had called the NVC and was told it does not say anywhere that it has to be signed. Good luck girl good.gif good.gif

Hello guys/gals;

When a RFE is sent for missing info on the DS-230, is the DS-230 form that was originally submitted returned to you to be corrected, or do they require you to send in a completely new form?

I got what sounded like a RFE fmessage from the automated line and when I called NVC I was told that Questoin #20 is missing info. I looked at my copy and found the error. I neglected to write in the to info on the address line. I should have written in "present" because that could not be entered on the computer being that section only accepts numbers.

I am asking because I would go ahead and mail it to my SO before I get the actual letter from the NVC. Now I M HEring about needing to submit pictures. HUH??? I am trying to do this ASAP considering the mail turnaround time to and from Ja. Although they stated they mailed the RFE on 1/25, I highly doubt it. Even though it was generated that day it doesn't necessarily mean it was mailed. We all know they wait for a crate to become full before they mail anything out.

Hi,

No need to worry about the pictures, unless they also send you an RFE for those.

To answer your first question, yes, the original you first sent to NVC is returned to you for correction, they will also have stamped the first page with a number (I don't think this is really significant).

If I remember correctly they only sent back part 1 - which is where the error is. Anyway, no reason not to send your SO the corrected copy now, send her/him parts 1 and 2 just in case they return the whole form.

Good luck!

Well Trailmix;

I got the letter yesterday and they did not return the original. They just sent a letter stating that question #20 is incomplete. The letter did not mention anything about pictures, but something about police certificate. I called NVC last night to make sure they have the certificate and the operator said "we now have a new requirement that 2 passport pics be submitted with the DS-230." I was like "I found that out" and she laughed. I asked her at that poit if anything else was needed and she said that that was all.

They slay me. wacko.gif wacko.gif It just means that if someone had not mentioned it in another thread I would not have known to ask Mike to send it to me. When I called him this am to let him know that I got the letter, he already mailed the newly signed form along with the pictures as I had discussed with him over the weekend. It just simply means that I would have gotten another RFE for missing docs/info. mad.gif mad.gif

A gap exists in your residency history of more than six months. When completing the information in Item #20, please refer to the following instructions below on how to obtain Police Certificates from these countries:

It goes on to give info about obtaining a police certificate although we have already submitted one. I plan on calling them this week to verify that they have the police cert.

Can anyone interpret this for me? I will update this thread when I am able to get through to the NVC while I wait for Mike to send a new DS-230 to me.

Just got of the phone with the NVC operator and she verified that the police cert is on file and is alright. Just need to correct question #20. and she mentioned a new procedure that we now have is requiring 2 passport sized pictures to be submitted with the DS-230.

They slay me with these new requirements, they never stop trying to trip you up.

Just got off the phone with NVC to verify that police cert is on file and it was mentioned that NVC has a new requirement for 2 passport-sized photo to be submitted with the DS-230.

What else are they gonna ask for?

I already submitted my DS-230 and was not asked for any pics and it seems as if I am getting a RFE for "missing or incomplete info"

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Documents Review after RFE
Hey guys, another RFE question here? helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif

1. When a RFE is issued and responded to, does NVE re-review the submitted documents like before, or do they just look for the missing info? I missed just one word and re-submitted a new form? unsure.gif unsure.gif

2 Does anyone know how long it takes for them to resume case processing after RFE corrections are submitted. unsure.gif unsure.gif

Sorry about all the questions, but I geting very anxious and nervoius, although I triple checked the forms before I sent them out express mail yesterday. wacko.gif wacko.gif

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Automated Phone Service Not Updated?
QUOTE (AtlantiCat @ Feb 22 2008, 07:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I received my approval/NOA2 on January 30th, and I've been calling the NVC for a week and a half trying to see if they've received my paperwork from CSC. Today in the mail I received a letter from NVC dated February 19th, saying they'd received the petition and where they would be forwarding it (within a week, they say), plus my USCIS case number and my new NVC case number. However, when I call the automated phone system and input either number, the pleasantly bland white male voice tells me there's no record of my case.

Has anybody else had this experience? What's the point of having an automated phone system that doesn't work? I didn't notice another topic on the subject so forgive me if somebody else has asked this question all ready.

From what I have been reading here on VJ, K-1's do not stay at the NVC long enough to get into their automated system. The letter you got gives you the info you would probably hear on their automated system.
