I know Kimmy, dem coulda sey come back in two weeks and bring it. I would have just sent him the moneyto get a new one done--no big deal. I emailed them and they responded in two hours and apologised for the misunderstanding on my part. When Tonya posted that they aske Drew for the second copy I asked about it and they said one copy is enough. I did not realize one was an original and one a copy. Carbon copy at that. They both had Mike's picture, the police seal and original signature on it. Crappy piece of paper. Them claim that June 26 is the eraliest date them have just to drop off a piece of stupid looking papa. mad.gif

See they keep changing things. Like when we went to drop of the DS-230, they told us we didn't need the picutures. I had nicely attached them to the upper left hand corner of the form and the gentleman that took the form said they were not necessary and to bring 4 pictures to the interview. I was also told that while I was outside. Dem need fi mek up dem mind. Tap tell people different tings. Now, when my friend did her K-1 in February they didn't ask her for the NON-IMPIEDMENT form at all. She was cussing because the form was $5500. I told her it's BETTER TO HAVE IT and DON'T NEED IT...than to NEED it and DON'T HAVE IT.

I totally agree with you on this one. Each case is dealt with individually. The packet #4 that I got for Mike was a K-1 packet. Can you imagine that, asking for everyting I already submitted to the NVC and money too. i just kiss my teeth and wonder how they can't get it straight. What If I did not have my head on my bosy and VJ to rely on, I would have panicked.

But without VJ we all would be lost because the embasy try hard to confuse us all.

Ain't this the truth!! PREACH!! I do not know what I'd do if I didn't have VJ. Its like an immigration lawyer extrodinaire and support group all in one!!

Hotlegz, when I checked my files, I have what they consider the original..both copies have an original picture and police seal and original signatures but the info that is typed is typed using a carbon. Who uses carbon in this day and age?
You pay so much money and have to go through so much for a piece of paper that looks like #######. Well, according to Mike all things work together to them that love the Lord. He actually had the interview with approval pending submission of this form.

Lawd mi belly...claire I asked Marcel the same thing. Of course he didn't know what the heck I was talking about. So, I asked one of his police friends, who said it's not really carbon, but couldn't really explain it; and I do agree. IT LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING MY 4-YEAR-OLD SON could put together mad.gif

In a high fraud country like the PI, they have to pay for document verfication. In Ja they give you this piece a ####### paper and acting all snobby with it. Like you said, anyone can make it, it is simple.

I received a nice email from the embassy today informing me that my SO's information had been received and that he is now eligible to be scheduled for an interview and as soon as the system assigns his interview date he will be notified as soon as possible. I wonder how long that's going to take.

Ty, I hope and wish you a speedy interview date. good.gif The family based visas seem to be at a standstill right now and I certainly feel for them. mad.gif

Guys, things are not looking good at the embassy. My friend, whose case was completed in April, called the NVC this morning and was told that they have finished scheduling cases for July for that particular embassy and she might get a date in August. I told her to try calling the 202 number to see if anyone can give her any better news. She has just about given up and is so depressed, I don't know what to say to her anymore. mad.gif

For everyone else waiting, I wish you all the best and good luck with the rest of this process.

So I checked out the Kingston embassy page and its filled with wack information as usual. It states thar NIV appointments are Monday, Wed, Thurs, and Fri!! ohmy.gif We have seen most every yardie on VJ have a Tuesday date. So either they are just leaving these family based visas to Tuesdays or their site is completely off. How is this efficient or fair or that matter. If all family based visas are interviewed only on Tuesdays then of course there's gonna be major backlog. All Tuesday dates are blocked off on the Kingston Embassy online appointment page.....leaving me to believe that Tuesday are in deed the family based visa day. Thats ridiculous! mad.gif blink.gif

August does however seem to not be blacked out at all. So it seems that maybe those dates are still open. There are only 4 Tuesdays in August, there were 5 in July. Now I could be completely wrong in all this but it seems all out of order and leaves room for major backlog. No wonder other embassys give out dates a month after case complete and KNG is so far behind. Jamaica may be a busy Embassy, but its a very tiny country compared to many others. It makes no sense that it should take this long. I wonder if we send an email to someone (not sure who) to see about suggesting they reevaluate this. The problem seems to be KNG not releasing dates to NVC, cause the K1 and K3 visas dont have as long of a wait after their DS230 is processed to get a date. But since CR1's are processed at NVC the wait after DS230 is much longer. Which may be because the embassy is not releasing dates to the NVC to use...rather KNG continues to fill up dates with people who's cases are there at the embassy...ie K1 and K3 family visas. All I know is there is a package leaving NVC EVERY day via DHL to the embassy! Thats alot of packages getting to the Embassy for mine and I am confused by this.

Marlita my dear im as confused as you are. I have reached a point now that i just tell myself that wheneve they are ready they will give me a date. I cant understand how "fiance" visas gets precedence over "marriages" (not to offend anyone). Im just curious.

None taken...the way it was explained to me is that the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa and it takes less time to process and less information is required. If that makes sense.

The only thing less is the AOS at NVC, other than that....EVERYTHING is the same. I cant imagine they dont do extensive background checks on a K visa...that would be scary. And now that NVC is automated online getting thru NVC has taken some people less than a month! I truly think the problem in Kingston now. I swear sometimes that country makes me want to kill myself. Things are so archaic there. Like they have no idea how to effeciently process things. I mena heck...the stupid PC was typed. Who the heck still uses typwriters?

I think that sometimes when we talk about the visa process in Kingston, we seem to forget that this a US institution and not Jamaican. We are blaming the wrong people when we make statements like "the problem is Kingston" and "that country makes me want to kill myself". We must remember that the embassy is run by the United States and even though some Jamaicans are employed there, and have their attitudes that we don't want to deal with, there are policies and procedures that have to be followed by everyone.

I know it is a very long and difficult process and we all are angry and feel the need to lash out and I do feel the same way even though I am not in the process, but I feel the need to comment on the general statements that are being made blaming Jamaica and not the US EMBASSY for all this shyt.

Yeah, yeah I know, the PC was typed and it is archaeic, but that is completely unrelated to what happens at the embassy blush.gif Jamaica is sometimes being compared to the way things are done in the US and credit shoul be given where credit is due and not compare the two. The US is wayyyy far ahead in technology and such than Jamaica and the embassy has the utmost control of what happens with this visa process, so please be gentle when bashing them (Jamaica).

I am proud of the advances that I have seen in Jamaica. I left Jamaica in 1986 and travelled back and forth until about 1998 and had not been back until last year and I must say that things are better and more advanced than I thought it would have been.

Sorry for the long rant but this is a very sensitive subject for me tongue.gif

I was just wondering is it possible for people filing CR1/IR1 to wait for more than 3 months to get an interview date in Kingston?

My two month date is coming up and still nothing.....I know tash 2months mark is probably today (dont remember). Marlita and Forbes is also waiting.

Can someone shed some light on what going on please. blush.gif

Hi Kishmar all I can say is to pls have patience.

I filed IR-1 application that was completed by NVC back in November 30, 07. Case transfered on February 4th, 08 to KNG Embassy. We didn't get interview date until March 18th. Medical was on March 5th rcv'd visa in hand on the March 26th board plane on April 5th.

Pls have patience

Sorry you have to go through this Clairern, but do know that God's timing is perfect, you may never know the reason but His timing is perfect. Me and Marla went through the same ordeal with backwards embassy and had to wait an additional 6 weeks but we got through it. I wish you the best and stay strong for one another.

Jason, Mike said the same thing to me today after I was so very distraught about the whole thing. He said God knows best and every dissapointment is for a good. I wish I had his inner calm and peace and his patience. He has been waiting 8 years to get to this point and I felt really bad that this had happened.

Unlike Marla's interview, he had a very nice CO who was very kind and even encouraged him to go ahead andfill out DS-230 for his daughter who he had following to join. She turns 21 in October and they encourage him and had him fill out the papers right then and there.

Thanks for the reassurance though. When is Marla coming? Has she even received the visa yet?

Hopefully she will be here Fri. night. I called the 202# today and they told me that the visa is approved and is waiting to get prinited. i hope she gets it tomorrow, we both want to be together by this weekend.

That is such good news. I just don't think you should get your hopes up for her getting it this week though. I think you should plan on her getting next week and booking her fare then.

You guys have been going thru this process for so long. Did you at least get an early June date?

Thanks for this info though. I will make sure my husbsnd gets his PC back as he sent me the 2nd copy too.

Marlita, he actually had the interview but he has to go back with the original PC. I thought I had sent in the original but when I checked my files today I have it, so I will bring it with me when I go down in two weeks.

Even if you send in the original, make sure he has the second copy because when Tonya went with Drew they asked him for the second copy. They have a different set of rules for everybody.

Karla, I actually submitted the copy in error and they claim Dept of Homeland security would not allow him into the country via POE with just the copy, so they need it on file to put into that big brown envelope.

You know waht really upsets me is that the PC was not even official looking. They both had his picture and the police seal on them. The only thing that was different is that they put a carbon between the two copies when it was typed up. Who uses carbon in this day and age. I mistakenly sent the carbon copy and they wanted that one. He actually had the interview and has to go back in June to turn the "original" PC in.

So you guys who are at the NVC stage, make sure you send in the top copy that is considered "original"

Just an update--he actually had the interview and everything went well. He is scheduled to return on June 26 with the original PC.

Bad News Guys.

I am crying my heart and eyes out right now. Mike's interview was rescheduled for June because he did not have the second copy of the police certificate. I look and realized that I still have the extra copy. I had emailed the consulate, after Tonya posted and said Drew was asked for his, and was told that it was not necessary for him to have it if it was sent to the NVC

Now when he got there he was turned back. They did not even do the interview and schedule a time for him to drop it off, they rescheduled the whole interview. How can they be so cruel and disheartening?

I have to talk to him when he gets home to get the full story.

Learn from my experience all who have their interviews coming up. Make sure you have the second copy of the police certificate with you.

I couldnt get the time off from work, so i just settled for the following week. I have started to make little x's on my calendar at work, to convince myself it is not much longer and im not going to go stir crazy wacko.gif i have already packed my suitcase, How sad is that....LOL?

haha. I always hear about people doing this but I cant cause then what would I wear for these coming days? I'm on a "Get Fit for Jamaica" exercise plan though. Also a condition my blood for the mosquitos plan blink.gif haha!

Lita - how do you do this??

I start taking high doses of vitamin B1, like over 6500% of the daily value. I found out that b1 makes you give off a smell that humans cannot detect but mosquitos can and they dont like the smell. I tried it last time and it didnt get bit but the first day on the island, and I never had to use repellant which dries my skin really badly.

Honey you probably naturally have that repellant. I know some people never get bit. But me....oh no. I will be literally THE ONLY PERSON getting bit in the crowd. Its ridiculous and then the bites swell and turn like blood purple color and spread. Its the most gross looking thing ever. I look like i have a skin disease. When I stayed there last summer, my husband felt so bad for me he actually wanted me to go home cause he felt like i was getting tortured from the JA mosquitos. I had bites on my face even!!

When I went down in May, I did not get one single bite nor even seen or sensed a mosquitto around me and I am sort of light skinned. I even stayed in Portmore, the mosquitto capital of Ja, I was told. Maybe I have that "natural" repellant. lol

It WAS long wasn't it? Their "Sorry for the delay" makes me think maybe they ... forgot me. biggrin.gif Anyway, they got it out to me in record time - like 24 hours. So I guess they kinda made it up to me.

I am thinking that the airport experience was because it was early morning and we were the first set of people they had to deal with - so maybe they were in a good mood. biggrin.gif

Final destination is Kentucky... it's SO good to be ... well, home. biggrin.gif

Thanks for the welcome ... it's just today that it hit me ... this isn't the END of the journey at all, this is only the beginning. I got lots of thinking to do .. all this time, I've been so focused on the getting here, that I almost don't know what to do with myself now.

All you have to do is take it one day at a time and remember that there is lots of adjusting to do. New things and places and a whole new culture to get used to. Just don't sweat the small stuff and keep focused on your relationship and the path you are now on. yes.gif

Best of luck to you and yours as you start this life long journey. good.gif

I hope to be in your shoes one day. biggrin.gif

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaThe POE experience
It sure took the embassy a long time to issue your visa. mad.gif Lawny's fiance got his in three days. unsure.gif I hope Mike gets his soon cause I am tired of waiting. mad.gif

That sure was easy and straightforward. Maybe because it was early in the morning and they were in a good mood? Where is your final destination?

Anyway welcome to the good ole US of A and may your lives together be long, prosperous and rewarding. Now the real journey has begun. good.gif

Tash; the message did not change until weeks later. It only changes when the case is shipped to JA. You have to call and talk to an operator to find out if you were assigned a date. The automated system does not give that info about the interview date. From case completed to case sent to embassy the message does not change.

I wish you an Kishmar both good luck with getting an interview date assigned for August since you both had your cases completed in April.

Everyone....please do not forget about me. I am still waiting also crying.gif

Oh Forbes crying.gif I am sorry. Good luck to you also.

I just called the NVC and was told that they are scheduling interviews for Jamaica this week. I hope you all get an interview date assigned this week---Tash, Forbes and Kishmar--all completed in April..

Hoping for an interview date assignment this week. good.gif

Hi all --

I'm beginning to prepare the I-129F packet and had a couple of questions for my yardie family. Y'all are such a wealth of info, I thought I would come directly to the sourece. So here goes...

- What is the A# (it asks for it on Part B., question 9)? Does JA have national identification number (similiar to our SSN#) that I should include?

- On the G-325 when I print out the form it gives me 4 copies of the same form. Do I need to fill out all 4 copies for each of us?

- Does my SO need to provide a copy of his birth certificate also?

- What is a non-impediement form? I've seen that on other posts, but unsure of what it is.

- Just so I'm clear that I-129F packet includes the following:
* I-129F form
*G325 for me and my SO
* Passport photos of the post of us
* Letters of intent from the both of us
*Copies of evidence that we've met within the last two years (will copies of trip itineraries and photos suffice)
Am I missing anything?

- Also, is there anything I should be telling my SO to start gathering as we prepare the form and wait for the next steps? He called me today to say he thinks he has his vaccination card, but I think I read on this forum that there may be a new vaccination card that is required now. Any help is appreciated

Thanks, all for your help. I'm sure I'll be leaning on you for your guidance as we officially begin the process.

Here is a link about the new birth certificates. http://www.visajourn...p;#entry1804098

Like JG said don't get the non-impediment and police record yet. The police record is only good for 3 months now so it would just be a waste of money. Use the guides on here and it will tell you exactly how to set it up.

Good luck! And welcome to the wait of your life......... rose.gif I have never had anything test my patience as much as this process.

When Mike had his interview in May/June he was told that the police record was valid for one year. Has that changed recently?

Unruly, congrats on starting this next step in your journey.

the non-impediment form is from the Register General's Dept and it just verifies that your SO is not currently married fulfilling the free and willing to married obligation.

The G-325 form can be completed on the computer (embassy prefers this) and it automatically prints out 4 copies for each of you. Although it contains basically the same info, it is coded on the bottom for different departments in immigration.

The difference between the old and new birth certs is that the old one is usually written and is on short paper and the new one is longer and has an official seal and typed/printed. He should start getting those two right now if he does not already have it cause it takes a while. His police report/certificate is needed also and this is good for one year so you can decide when he applies for it. They have a 3-day service or a 21-day service and he will need his passport and 2 extra passport pics when he is applying.

Good luck.
