Where is Sally's in Brooklyn? Have you been to Caribbean Island in City Island? I love that place

I can tell you it's on Ralph Avenue just not the cross streets.

There is a Sally's on Clarkson avenue between Utica and East 51st and the one on Ralph ave is Farragut Avenue and Foster Avenue.

-----------------------------------------------------

Reply:

Dear Concerned Student:

I am not allowed in schools.

Sincerely,

God

----------------------------------------------------------

How did this get started?...

-----------------

Let's see,

I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare complained

She didn't want any prayer in our schools.

And we said, OK...

------------------

Then,

Someone said you better not read the Bible in school,

The Bible that says

'Thou shalt! Not kill,

Thou shalt not steal,

And love your neighbors as yourself,'

And we said, OK...

-----------------

Dr. Benjamin Spock said

We shouldn't spank our children

when they misbehaved

because their little personalities

would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem.

And we said,

An expert should know what he's talking about.

So we won't spank them anymore...

------------------

Then someone said

Teachers and principals better not

Discipline our children when they misbehave.

And the school administrators said

No faculty member in this school

Better touch a student when they misbehave

Because we don't want any bad publicity,

And we surely don't want to be sued.

And we accepted their

Reasoning...
------------------

And the entertainment industry said,

let's make TV shows and movies that promote

Profanity, violence and illicit sex...

And let's record music that encourages

Rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes..

And we said,

it's just entertainment

And it has no adverse effect

And nobody takes it seriously anyway,

So go right ahead.

------------------

Now we're asking ourselves

Why our children have no conscience,

Why they don't know right from wrong,

And why it doesn't bother them to

Kill strangers, classmates or even themselves.

------------------

Undoubtedly,

If we thought about it long and hard enough,

We could figure it out.

I'm sure it has a great deal to do with...

'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW,'

Pass it on If you think it has merit!

But if you discard this thought process,

Then don't sit back and complain about

what bad shape this country is in!

Good Morning Yardies. Hope everyone have a great and productive Day.

Mean Moms & Grandmas

Someday when my children are old enough to
understand the logic that motivates a parent, I will tell them,

as my Mean ole Mom told me:

I loved you enough...

to ask where you were going, with whom,
and what time you would be home.

I loved you enough to be silent and let you
discover that your new best friend was a creep.

I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15 minutes.

I loved you enough to let you see anger,
disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children must learn that their parents aren't perfect.

I loved you enough to let you assume the
responsibility for your actions even when the
penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.
But most of all, I loved you enough...to say
NO when I knew you would hate me for it.

Those were the most difficult battles of all. I'm
glad I won them, because in the end you won, too.

And someday when your children are old enough to understand the logic that motivates parents, you will tell them.

Was your Mom mean? I know mine was. We had the meanest mother in the whole world!

While other kids ate candy for breakfast, we

had to have cereal, eggs, and toast.

When others had a Pepsi and a Twinkie for lunch,

we had to eat sandwiches.

And you can guess our mother fixed us a dinner that was
different from what other kids had, too.

Mother insisted on knowing where we were at all
times. You'd think we were convicts in a prison. She
had to know who our friends were, and what we were
doing with them. She insisted that if we said we
would be gone for an hour, we would be gone for an hour or less.
We were ashamed to admit it, but she had the nerve
to break the Child Labor Laws by making us work. We had to wash the dishes,

make the beds, learn tocook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the trash
and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think she would lie
awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.

She always! insist ed on us telling the truth, the
whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By the time
we were teenagers, she could read our minds and had
eyes in the back of her head. Then, life was really tough!

Mother wouldn't let our friends just honk the horn
when they drove up. They had to come up to the door
so she could meet them. While everyone else could
date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait until we were 16

Because of our mother we missed out on lots of
things other kids experienced. None of us have ever
been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's
property or ever arrested for any crime. It was all her fault.

Now that we have left home, we are all educated,
honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean
parents just like Mom was.

I think that is what's wrong with the world today.
It just doesn't have enough mean moms!

PASS THIS ON TO ALL THE MEAN MOTHERS YOU KNOW.
(And Their Kids!)

Lawny,
Did the 202# say whether the embassy would accept it from the applicant? Ken also didn't live far from MoBay Hope...but he had it mailed...cause he didn't want to hear any foolishness about tampering. Gurl, these crazy details will drive you mad...cause the embassy is so darn specific. Just double check to make sure. Seriously, ya'll know I would call that 202# 3 times ask the same question and get 2 different answers!!

We're planning on having a large wedding in Jamaica in a few years. We'll see it plays out. Since most of his family and friends are in Jamaica. We're both from HUGE families and Jamaica will be the only place we can afford to have a large wedding. My aunts wedding on the 21st of this month has well over 500 guest. Question to the VETS;

Did you SO have to return to the place where they had their medical to pick up results to take Kingston?

Lawny, as far as I understand the doc is supposed to give the xray to the applicant and forward the medical results to the embassy. Mike was only given the exray, unless things have changed. You had better call them to find out why he was told to return. That is the reason why some people only found out at the interview whether they failed the weed test. unsure.gif

If I were you I would call them and make sure you tell them that it is supposed to be forwarded to the embassy by them. I hope this all works itself out cause I know how you are feeling right now, that you are getting closer. Best of luck my dear.

On hold with the 202# I want to know if they change the procedure. When I called to scheduled his medical in May the lady on the phone told me that they may start doing this, but it wasn't fully implemented (something like that she said). So, maybe they did go foward with it, but I don't see any notice of it. Cho...mi no wah nutin fi rass stress mi out right now...I've been CALM this whole time. mad.gif

I don't know why they would give the applicant the medical results. Like Kimmy says, anything can be altered. I guess the money you pay for the medical covers the expense of sending it to the embassy and I would think it is in the contract between them and the embassy to do so. Well, I hope it has not changed.

Jamaican US Marine stationed in Iraq recently received a letter from his Jamaican girlfriend back in Brooklyn.
It reads as follows:

The Marine, with hurt feelings asked his fellow Jamaican Marines for any snap shot they could spare of their girlfriends, sisters, ex-girlfriends, cousins etc. In addition to the picture of Gwendolyn, Leroy included all the other pictures of the girls he had collected from his buddies.
There were 57 photos in that envelope...along with this note:

Dear Gwendolyn,
mi really sorry but mi caan rememba who yu be , so
baby please to pick out fi yu picha from di pile and
send back di ress to mi, tanks...

Gooooood Morning Ladies! I am so excited ... just a couple days until Louis is here!! YAY

I have a question and a vent.

What is in that sealed envelope that he surrenders at Immigration? Just wondering.

Now, I just got off the phone with Louis. An aunt of his was telling him that once he gets to immigration they will make him go back to SLU when they find out he is here to marry a USC!! Can I tell you how effing annoyed I am!!?? People and family have been telling him since we first started this process that he will never make it... "you have dreds", "They don't let Lucians into the US", "you will never pass the interview"... people always trying to keep him down! It makes me so angry and then it makes Louis nervous!!! I told him that of course they know he is coming here to get married... ITS A K-1 VISA!!!!
You know once he gets here they will all be asking him to get them here too!!!

OK - Thats all! blink.gif

Catherine

Tell him not to worry girl, they are just jealous. I think the MBE (mysterious brown envelope) are all the docs you had to submit to the embassy and they will keep it on file at immigration till he becomes citizen. I think????? unsure.gif

Forgot my manners. Good morning all. Hope everyone have a great day. good.gif

I know that there is nothing I can say to ease the pain...only God can provide that comfort. I am happy to see you still able to laugh in the midst of. My baby sister will be meeting you in Kingston...I am sending a big hug through her okay. You are a true inspiration and shining star. I love your humor...Take care and stay blessed.

Gill,

My sis...my sis...my sis. You look wonderful! Ken was equally handsome. I love those pictures. I miss our gab sessions, but I know that you have to keep the hubby occupied and vice versa. Congratulations again on your nuptials.

HotLegz,

Binky-butt should have been on the potty at night with her little grown behind! I know that is a little bit of relief with a new one on the way...you don't have to increase the diaper budget now.

Everyone please keep me in your prayers. I need some positive vibes and God's blessings right now.

Love,

Thanks Jawi that means a lot. I forgot to tell the ladie here that I printed out all the wonderful things you all said. She's at ease. I went today to pick out an urn (can't spell it). Actually it's a little blue teddy bear box. Not as bad as I thought it would be I was able to handle it. Thanks for my extended support system here.

Girl, I'm so glad you sis interview date is the same as mine. I'm all set. My SO can go by himself if he wants, but I'll be there for support. He has everything organized and in order. His medical was Monday, all went well, except for the PERVERTED nurse who kept starting at him while he was naked (kept telling him to stand up for no reason). I'm still pissed about that. I forgot to tell ya'll, when the doctor came in the room, he asked my SO "why did are you sitting in here naked"...he was like "the nurse told me to take off everything"...they gave him nothing to put on. If I could meet her I would bax her in her face.

I'm going to try and link up with your sis. I'm meeting up with 7 other couples that day. They're interviews go from 9:30am to 1pm. I'm the only one with an afternoon appt., so they're going to wait until I get out. I heard when you have an afternoon appt you're not in there that long. Who knows. I hope that's true.

Lawny, the same thing happened to Mike. The "nurse" told him to take off all his clothes and did not give him anything to put on and just kept looking at him from head to toe. Unprofessional I tell you. No respect for people's privacy. mad.gif

First of All Sunny, darling...CONGRATS!!! You are ON your way!! Lawny, Baby Girl, I am so very sorry for your loss! As always you and your family are in my prayers for peace and healing at this time!

Well Ya'll the DEED is DONE!!! I am officially Mrs. Young...and from now on will be 'Forever Young'...but the same ole Crazy Gill! laughing.gif

The wedding was BEAUTIFUL considering we threw it togher in like TEN days! Ok...the worst part was the DYAM heat...unfortunately..the East Coast was heat with a Bloodcleat HEATWAVE inna early JUNE!!! Just 2 weeks ago it was 40 degrees...whatever.

We didn't let that spoil our day! I was in tears I said recited my vows...because my heart and soul finally felt at ease and knew..."THIS TIME WAS FOREVER!!"

Ken looked so...dyam GOOD!!!! So did our boys!!! Tghe reception was wonderful one of our friends justed opened a new restaurant that hasn't 'officially' been opened as of yet. SO he let us use it! We had a magnificent chef that's Jamaican by birth, but was culinarily trained in France and London! He is part owner, of the Restaurant...the food was OFF THE HOOK!!!!!

It was very small only 35 of our family and friends...we had no DJ, no mic...but it was so geniune! The speeches moved me to tears...everyone saying how happy they were for us and how proud they were of me for taking a chance on love again!

It was great. Ken and I forgot to bring our camera...thank G-d my friend sent some to me this morning... I wanted to at least post one or 2 pictures...b/c I promised!

Love you all,

Gill

Update on my friend and her cheating husband***

She had a beautiful baby girl about a hour a go. I think the name is Tiara Rose 6oz 13inchs. Her husband's mother and father will be here tomorrow to help with the baby and the rest of the in-laws will be here later in the week. Her ex's family is very supportive. She's happy, but not 100%.

She was early, wasn't she??!! Glad to hear things went well - beautiful name.

Tell her congrats!!!! How exciting...

Hey Vets, i have yet another question so bare with me. Im starting to get stuff in order( ppwk and evidence) so when the time comes i wont be stressed. In regards to evidence, proof of relationship, is the burden of proof on the petitioner, meaning , i have a ####### load of emails, some letters, phone log receipts, pictures, etc, every calling card i ever bought, prior to us hooking up international calling, but what about the stuff D has, the letters i have sent, the emails i have sent, not to mention is it possible to get a copy of his phone bill from Digicel, with the international calls on it? Will i need all that stuff or just go with the little accumulation of ####### i have on my end???? huh.gif

Honey, when you save those letters, make sure you save the envelopes also so that it can show the postmark and stamps on them. The calling cards really can't prove anything because there is no record of you calling him.

He probably talk to digicel and see if he can get an itemized bill that weeds out local calls and only shows calls to you? They might charge a fee for this--you know everyone wants to get paid. Is the international calling plan in JA? Maybe he can save his phone plan or start asking for an itemized bill or you can do the same with your phone bills?

Just talking off the top of my head. wacko.gif Hope that helps good.gif

Well, I called the stupid DMV after I got home, rooted through all my papers, and found all the freakin' receipts from last year.

First of all, they said the plates expired in November 2007. Um, no. I renewed in August 2007 and they were 2 year plates. WTH did November come into play at all?

The guy on the phone tried to give me all kinds of BS. I said I have all (and I do mean ALL) the paperwork from renewing.....inspection, test, personal property receipts from past 2 years, receipt, cancelled check. You do not mess with someone who has been through grueling paperwork like me/us and is queen of paperwork. I even repeated his name back to him at the end just to make sure he knew I kept notes on date, time, and name of people I talk to about things. Do not play with me DMV!

He said the cop messed up when putting it in. Well, great. So, if they had ticketed my husband or something worse, it would all be because they put it in the computer wrong. That is just lovely. I am copying all this stuff. If this ever happens again, he is going to whip out some paperwork. They better hope I am not the one they pull over ever again.

Your friend will be fine and like ty said, her true love is on his way..

I do see your point. He made his bed, though. Now, he's just a sperm donor. Too bad for him.

JG, this happened to me. I paid my fees and they cashed my check and someone forgot to enter in the system that I paid. Never got my registration renewal in the mail and when I went to the DMV, they had no record of me paying. I paid online on their system and had my receipt and someone did not update my files. The system showed me as late and I told them absolutely not.

I went home and dug through my piles of papers and preented it to them. Like I said before somewhere. They are Government workers and not required to think on their own. They are computer driven. No original though process goes into their jobs. Makes me mad as heck. mad.gif

Hey Jodie, sorry to hear that you are feeling this way but it very common. Do you have any family close by? This happened to a friend of mine recently and all she did was call her mom and told her she was dropping the baby off. You might need a break even though you might not think so. Sometimes, even though you are "expected" to feel happy about having a newborn, that is not always the case. You should try to get in with a group of women in your area or community that recently had babies. That is where your support system will be. Contact your local hospital or talk to you doctor like someone said and if you need us we will all be here for you.

Your hubby just does not understand what you are going through, so just ignore him. mad.gif

Good luck and God bless. heart.gif

I kindly tole him to call AJ or the airline itself and it is sure to be cheaper. He called AJ and was given JA$22,000. I like this is really too much so I went on line and checked for my self. The oneway ticket to Orlando is listed as US$144 + $96 or so for tax. A little over US$200. If I convert it to Ja money at say JA$70 to US$1 that would eqal about JA$14,000 or so. Why is the ticket more expensive if purchased in JA? Anyone with a clue about the price variations?

Lawny you might be able to answer that for me since I know you all purchased Marcel's ticket in JA (assuming).

Clairern. I have purchase tickets from JA and they always cost more than the ones I purchase state side. One there is another tax that they charges addition to the ones you pay state side. Also note, if the ticket is purchase state side, at the time of departure they still charge for that additionbal tax. It can be anywhere from 8.00 to 32.00 dollars. I for one would not purchase my ticket in JA, I would purchase an e- ticket here and pay the additional tax.

Roxcie

So in essence, it would be more cost effective of I purchase an e-ticket for him and let him pay whatever additional taxes they want (I think that is what used to be called the departure tax at one time). Well, I will just have to see what happens.

Thanks for your opinion on this. good.gif

Girl,

Do it online. Same rass foolishness when he went to the AJ office in Mobay. I paid $241/US for his one-way ticket. If he purchased it in Jamaica it would have been $340/US. So, when I called she was trying to tell me about this and that fee and taxes and it being a paper ticket and that it's one-way. Mi jus hang up my phone and book it online.

wow.gif that is what it is? All taxes and paying for a paper ticket? Well looks like we will be booking on line.

Claire....

If you purchase online, they should include that departure tax in the ticket price. I booked Andre's out online and we weren't charged anything extra on departure.

Paper tickets have always costed you an additional charge. The internet is a thing of beauty as far as that goes.

Thanks girl. Ii will take all this into consideration. Just waiting for him to give me the date he wants to leave and we will go from there. Good looking out as usual. good.gif
