Girl you are just like a friend of mine. Wherever she goes she takes her own linen and we don't even use the towels in the hotels, no matter how "clean" they look. laughing.gif

The bed and mattress is "virgin". laughing.gif Never did the "horizontal mumbo jumbo" no0pb.gif in it and I have had them for almost three years tongue.gif

I never thought about it. Makes sense though. We recently moved...started over with new stuff except our mattress for our bedroom. Damien wants to buy a new one....maybe that's why...

In JA, Damien lived in a bachelor pad with 4 of his friends. I only stayed there for two nights. If those walls could talk...

Morning Ladies;

Question of the day????? whistling.gif

I have seen this discused somewhere on another thread but wanted the yardie version/opinion!!!

The question is:--how does you or your SO feel about sleeping on the same mattress as your ex did? Was it a cause for concern? I was laying in bed last night thinking about this as I was rolling restlessly from side to side on my bed. I have not had anyone but myself sleep in this new bed that I bought over two years ago and was wondering how Mike would feel if he had to come sleep in a bed that another man slept in. It really does not matter to me but you all know how Ja men are particular and fussy.

Let me know your opinion on this. blush.gif

Even now im waiting for him to get off work so we can talk....( shaking my head) i need to get a hobby...LOL mellow.gif

Honey, I know what you mean, today has been a rainy day in JA so my husband and I have been on the phone all day long talking, Well I quess we have used up our 16 hours for the month. Ha Ha. headbonk.gif He won't get anymore international time until the 15th of the month. But I wouldn't have traded today for anything. We talked about anything and eveything. Remember those days when you were young and you and your girlfriends talked on the phone all day long, it was like that. We started at brunch, break at midday, took long naps and then called back for afternoon snack. I know this sounds crazy, but we are newlyweds. All of my friends seems to be out of town or busy this weekend and it is very HOT today. I bet you when he get here, my friends will want to hang out again. In my group of friends I was the only one not married, now that I am married, they are busy with other things. So I hung out today with my best friend, my husband. Hids friends yelling outside asking him whats keeping him holed up in the house. When he tells them he is on the phone with me, they are yelling to tell me hello, or good day.

Will see what tonight brings. Rooftop music in Jamaica. I can't wait for our phone call tonight. Ragae Music playing with the rain falling on the roof.

I am Bless today
Roxcie

Roxie, I did the exact same thing with Mike today. Can't tell how long we have not spoken for long time on the phone. With his schedule and mine, we just have time for a quick hello before bed, then he goes to church all day Saturday and on Sunday he does his laundry and prep for work monday morning. Because it was raining today, he stayed home and called me at a point when I was folding clothes and thinking that only if he were here we would be folding clothes together. I had to top up my phone card and I don't think I have any minutes left on it for the month. Anyway, it was great talking to him for such a long time. As you said we talked about every and any thing today. It was really different but good good.gif

Good morning Ladies and Gents;

I hope you all are doing fine this lovely and sunny Tuesday morning. Congrats to all who have good news to report and for those without good news, I am hoping and praying that you all will hear something soon.

Well, I have a quick question for all you frequent travellers to Jamaica's vacation hot spots.

A co-worker of mine is planning on going to Discovery Bay in November with a group of his friends and wanted to know what is good there to do. He is planning on going to Rick's cafe and also wanted to rent a cab and do the local "thing" Any and all suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance and I hope you all have a very wonderful and productive day.

Much Love

Claire

I know. I don't want to admit it but it will probably end up being the same way for us. But its always nice to hope..
Sounds good.

Lawny,

Amen..I tell my SO that all the time. He wanted to know if I had saved any of my income tax money and my last bonus check. I had to explain to him that it isn't as easy to save because I have way more bills and responsibilites than he has. And your right, he has no house note. Only utilities. His car, paid for..He was having a fit one time about his electric bill saying it was way to high, this was after the hurricane that hit last August, I asked him how much it was, when he said $50 (U.S.) I laughed. Told him I'd love to trade with him. Try paying an electric bill thats twice that amount. He about died when I told him gas was about $4 a gallon.

Exactly.

His house phone equals to $8.50/US a month and the international cell phone is $15/US. I don't even think his electric bill reaches $20/USmonth (only if he uses a/c) which he never does. Water is $6.00/US a month. I can't remember the others and I'm like you're complaining. mad.gif His mom is in a nursing home because of a stroke and he gave his brothers strict instructions on how to spend the money he left in the account. They've already lost their minds. I told him this would happen, but he says when it's done it's done. I told him to pay the nursing home directly and not depend on his brothers. Thing is some people back home think that once you reach the states that you start ROLLING in the DOUGH...

Oh, honey, just you wait. it just gets better and better. Better plant the money tree out back now.

Mawning Family,

I have good news to share this morning. Ken was doing some work for my hair dresser over the weekend and this guy she knows came through the shop when Ken was there. He works interior construction and utility maintainance on apartment buildings are NYC and LI. So, he was telling my hair dresser how he has so much work and needs good people BADLY. She immediately introduced him to Ken and now Ken has a new F/T job!!!
G-D IS GOOD ALL THE TIME...ALL THE TIME G-D IS GOOD!!!

Here's the best part.

Ken told him what he used to do at the HI back in JA and the guy saw the work Ken had done on the beauty shop and hired him on the spot!! Ken is now making A NOICE PISSA FOOD NOW!! laughing.gif And that's just to start. The guy told Ken that once he proves himself his $$ will go up fast! That's the Pro...the Con...he's working NON-STOP 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day!

But I am happy for him, because this is what he really wanted to do from the get-go! Honestly, if I had to hear him tell me ONE MORE TIME that he needs to find another job on his days off from the restaurant ...I would have been a widow shortly! laughing.gif He LOVES working and HARD LABOR type stuff. So he is going to use this opportunity to learn and build himself up!

We are truly blessed...G-d has been so good to us...sometimes I feel like Charlotte in 'Sex and the City'movie. Like life is just too good...when's the next shoe gonna drop? I know crappy attitude...but true! Well like Ken says "The sea can't rough everyday...wan day the sea mus calm!" I guess this is the day! Let me just enjoy today and not worry about tomorrow...right?

Bless,
Gill

Gill, how wonderful!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif Your man has talent and if he was lazy and did not do that side job the guy wouldn't have found him. I love his attitude. Tell him "big up" yes.gif yes.gif

Please pray for my girlfriend and her husband. Seems that the wait for an interview date in Kingston is taking a toll on their marriage and her A$$ of an husband is not being supportive - called last night to tell her that he was not alone and that he did his best to prevent this, but he's a man...####### is all I can say right now. My head is spinning and I can hear the hurt in her voice. On top of that she's pregnant and don't need the added stress.

What an a$$ mad.gif mad.gif

Not for nothing Lawny...G-d does every darn thing for a reason. I hope she really thinks about what he just did to her last night! THAT is NOT love!!! LOVE is NOT calling your PREGNANT wife to tell her you are f-ing another chick!! I know she probably does not want to see it right now...but if he can do something like that to her when she is carrying HIS child...what will happen when he gets here? Anyway she will re-think bringing him up for a while?

She is in my prayers...b/c either way is a lose/lose situation (except for the blessing she is carrying)...support her Lawns...cause that can't be easy!

Bless,
Gill

Ever think why the visa/interview is delayed? Maybe that is God's sign to her. Help her open her eyes Lawny. Yeah, I know she is pregnant and all but we all can manage without a man. He looks liek he will bring her more heartache when he is here with her.

Unruly Gal/Gill,

Its so funny on Wednesday morning he seemed to be doing everything he could possibly think of to prolong taking me to the airport. He fooled around so much that I even had time to make breakfast. Then once we finally leave the house he makes 50,000 stops. The bank, gas station, picking up friends along the road to give rides etc. When finally I had to say, "sweety you know I don't want to leave you and all, but if you make me miss this flight, we are going to have some problems..He then looks at me and says,,,"Okay, okay, okay!... Gill you remind me of him saying hush..He tells me that all the time.

Unruly, I think I've kind of mastered the not crying part now. Although it feels like I'm leaving my best friend or a part of me behind everytime I leave him..Its like a huge lump in stomach, almost makes me sick.

TY; that seems like yesterday. Every time I left Marcel in Jamaica the morning that I'm leaving we would go to beach for an early dip. I always check in early then go to "Dead End Beach" to eat and drink a little...but mostly to talk. We would just sit there and put our foreheads together. He would hold my head in his hands and tell me don't cry think about how exciting it will be to see me again. I was so blessed to be able to have him fly back with me. They gave him a farewell party and I've never seen so many grown men cry. His older male friends who have been married for many years gave us a little notebook with quotes in it that help to keep their relationship in check. I thought it was so sweet. It was different love stories of how they met their wives and how to keep the FIRE BURNING. I read through the entire notebook while waiting for our flight to leave on 4th of July. I'll have to admit, I do find that "our" -- Jamaican men are the best lovers and the little notebook they gave us back it up. At the end of his party they sprayed us with champagne and I was mad.gif because the night was early and I was still trying to look FLY rofl.gif Oh well, then they sprayed us with whipcream...that was it I was ready to cut someone, but it was all in fun.

It's Friday ----why is everyone telling sad stories of crying??!!! crying.gif crying.gif

Hey Gill;

Just want to add my piece about Ken's baby mother. As long as KJ is with her, she is going to use him to get stuff from you both. Where does she expect Ken to have all that funds to support her? He just got here. Because she knows his soft spot for his child she is going to feed on that. But keep a level head and not let her stress you guys. It is things like this that the devil uses to cause stress and strife in relationships. Keep your head up. Tell Ken I truly like his style. Big him up for me.

Sus,

I agree, i was trying to book for October, as i try to get to JA every 3 months, while me and SO figure out what were doing, and i swear the fares were pretty outrageous. Now is it me, or did it used to be that the earlier you book your flight the cheaper it should be? And then im scared about going in october since they are stating this year is supposed to be a bad hurricane season.

Anyhoo, My SO gets his stitches out of his noggin today and seems to be sounding and feeling alot better...YAY, so when i see him next week, he will be functional and not requiring me to baby him the whole week...LOL

I swear, Honey, it has something to do with the midwest too. I can't ever seem to find the really great deals people elsewhere seem to get. I think part of it is our connecting flights.

Well, woo hoo.....I just made our bus tickets to Chicago in November. We are going to stay with Mindy for 5 nights. I'm so excited. $27.50 for both of us to go round trip. How cool is that?

On a sad note.....this sickened me today in the Gleaner. WTH is wrong with people? http://www.jamaica-g...lead/lead1.html

We are going to a Cardinal baseball game Thursday night. On the actual 4th, Andre has to work 1 - 10 pm which pisses me off to no end. He always gets the very worst shifts on holidays. We are both off on Saturday so we might hit Fair St. Louis which is a big deal and takes over downtown.

A fair sounds fun! At least does Andre get paid more for the Holidays?

I think I finally made some plans.. going to a small island off of Portland. My friend who lives in DC is coming up for the summer and her mom has a little cottage (shack) out there and we can see the fireworks and stay for Reggae Sunday! Yay... glad I have plans. Last year I was in St Lucia and obviously had no fireworks (except the one with Louis!! LOLOLOLOL)

No extra pay at all.....holidays, overnights, etc. It sucks.

Congrats, Claire! What a relief!

I had a chaotic day yesterday - I went to NJ for a babyshower, and then was about to call Sunny to try to link up with her - I barely left the baby shower when a bee flew in my window and stung me in the cheek! I stopped at a rest stop and got the stinger out and ice, and drove home with ice the rest of the way - But my face still swelled and looked ridiculous. I took Benadryl, and have slept most of the day today.

JAEng, love the carnival pics = I haven't been to DC's carnival yet - we do NY every year, and I have been to the one in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Boston, Caribana in Toronto - SO much fun. I love the floats and the costumes!

Thanks Sus. good.gif

Regional debt to be written off if Obama becomes president

Wednesday, 25 June 2008

Democratic candidate for President of the United States (US) Senator Barack Obama is promising 100% debt relief for the Caribbean if he becomes the next leader of the US.

Senator Obama's foreign policy advisor, Dan Restrepo told officials attending the Caribbean Tourism Organisation meeting in Washington DC that this is one of the policies to be pursued if Senator Obama is elected to office.

Mr. Restrepo also spoke about Mr. Obama's intention to facilitate trade between the US and Cuba.

He said the presidential candidate would personally lead direct diplomacy with Cuban officials.

According to Mr. Restrepo, Senator Obama understands the unique security challenges of the Caribbean and that the issue of trans-national crime is of great importance to the region.

As a result, he has promised to restore funding for drug control programmes, which were cut by the George W. Bush administration.

Did you get this from the Gleaner today? I can't click the link from this stupid home computer.

If you did read the story in today's Gleaner, did you notice how much of a small% this amount above actually is of the entire debt? Mind boggling.

Here is the link: http://www.radiojama...t/view/9372/88/

I'm confused...I read 100% debt relief. I took it to mean the entire debt would be taken care of.

Hey guys;

Just popping in to say hello to all. Been really busy lately and have been real tired and not been able to log on. Had a trip to NYC this past week and drove down and that has taken a toll on me especially when I got home at midnight and couldn't fall asleep and had to work the next day. (the things we do to ourselves). Got in to work at 0630 am only to see the doc and his crew waiting to start an EGD on my patient before I even got change of shift report. I had to do conscious sedation and boy was I mad. I was tired and had to recover the patient. Anyway, I made iot through the day in one piece after I also had to admit an intubated nursing home patient that was over 300lbs who had no blood pressure and almost coded on me. But thank GOD that I have a job to complain about. I really love what I do but I was very tired yesterday and still feel somewhat loopy right now...lol blush.gif

Congrats on all all the approvals and all the good news that we all have received this week. For all those waiting for an interview date, I hope you all get good news soon and that you will be reunited with your loved one sooner than later. good.gif

Happy monday everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend. JaEng, I have to echo what everyone else has said, your son is super adorable and I just love your creative pics.

Sunny, I am glad things are moving along, hope you get a drop off date soon.

I am still hanging in there but still very upset about my current relationship status.. sad.gif The one thing that keeps me going is the thought of holding my baby girl in my arms in a few months, everytime I feel a kick (which is quite often) it reminds me of what awaits.. I can't wait to see her already!

Thanks mommy girl... I hope that I hear something soon. You hang in there and things will work themselves out. Have you picked out a name for the baby?

Irie, those picutures are so darn cute. You and Louis look very nice together, and your daugther is the cutest...

Sunny, picking a name is sooo hard for me! I am so indecisive at times. I thought I had a name chosen but now not so sure.. I am not sure if its too common.

I'm gladly taking suggestions from you ladies. whistling.gif

Jengles....from what I understand now, the total fee for AOS of the K-1 includes the EAD, AP, and AOS. 3 forms with supporting evidence, processed seperately; but sent in together with the one fee. If you decide to only do AOS, you still pay the same fee.

Yeah, that's right Kel. The fee for AOS is $1010 whether u file the EAD and AP with it or not. Some people wait to send off the EAD and AP paperwork till after they get a receipt notice (I-797) from their AOS packet but while ur already paying the fee....u might as well "apply" for all 3 documents at one time.

U can still apply for the SS# regardless if u got the JFK work stamp or not. He just can't work until you've gotten married and he has his EAD.

Since we're on the topic.....LOL.....DAVE STARTED HIS NEW JOB TODAY!!!!!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif He got his SS# last friday and applied at a bunch of places this week, thinking he'd be lucky to get anything with the JFK work stamp. Hola Fam,

Lawny, my darling...I am wishing you nothing but the best on your interview...I KNOW WILL GUYS WILL GET THROUGH!!! Sending positive vibes your way...You have done your homework and leg work...now sit back relax and let the good Lord guide you through this! Don't let ANYONE at the Embassy shake you...just brush them off!!!

Honey, Baby Girl...you need to ask your SO if he had the time to take his son why doesn't he have the time to take himself? What will his son do without a Father if his tooth is abcessed and more serious than he thinks. Can I tell you a few weeks ago I had a boil in my ears...Ken insisted upon popping it...then it came back the week before my wedding even bigger and more painful!

I kept telling myself I;ll deal with it after the wedding. The next day my youngest son, Gavin fell down and kept complaining about his hip. I immediately found the time to take him to the doctor. When we got to the Dr. Gavin tell her..."I'm fine...I need you to look in my Mommy's ear!" Thank G-d my son had more sense than I did. His pediatrician immediately called the her friend an ENT and told me to go to his office NOW!! He will see you as soon as you get there...Gillian this is very serious!!

I went and low and behold the boil had turn into and abcess and was slowly leaking into my ear canal and blood stream. The ENT told me I would probably have been hospitalized in very serious critical condition if I would have waited until after my wedding!!!

I know long story short...sometimes we as parent are so concerned with taking care of our children we forget to take care of ourselves!!!

One days pay will NOT kill him or his child compared to NO MORE DAYS PAY if something serious happens.

I hope he feels better soon. He's in my prayers for a speedy resolution!

Blessed,
Gill

I feel ya girl.. i can count on one hand the amount of times I have went to the hospital beside annuals of course.. I just try to endure, but my kids are a different story.. I will pop some vitamin c in a minute.. born and raised in TX, so my grand mother didn't have many home remedies except for LAXATIVE!! Take a laxative when u got a bad cough, take a laxative if u body ache..Guys she would look at u sometimes and be like "You look weary, you need a laxative" We were the most regular girls in TX i am sure!!!!!!!!!! helpsmilie.gif no0pb.gif laughing.gif

I"m going home tomorrow and wouldn't you know it Marcel has the flu...GREAT! He's never been sick his mom said. He went to the mountains in Mandaville with his friends call to tell me it cold, next thing he sick. I tell you men can be baies sometimes. I know if he rinse his mouth out with white rum it will help with the pain, but only temporary (he should know that)...most Jamaicans do. In all, I hope he gets better, tootaches are no joke and can lead to bigger things and trust me he don't want that. My co-worker in the hospital now with an heart infection, because he have yuck mout. So, try not to stress too much.

You think the cold causes the flu?? Anthony tries to tell me that blasted thing all the time - the night cold/dew will make him sick. wacko.gif If so, all of us in "cold country" would have it 6-8 months out of the year!! Where's Claire to give us the medical low-down on it???

rofl.gif rofl.gif rofl.gif
I am here, my girl. As you mentioned the cold air does not make you ill. It actually some type of virus in the air that make you ill and depending on your immunity, it can vary how it affects you. Forgive me, this is one of my pet projects at work and people tells me I am paranoid but I have not been sick in so long, I can't remember. yes.gif
