Hey yardies, Hope all is well with everyone. Been quite busy working out some personal issues and been quite busy at work and has been unable to post as I used to. Just finished catching up on the posts I missed the last copule of days. Sorry to hear about all the misfortune that has befallen you ladies and for those who have good news, congrats. Shrew, I always check to see of you've heard anything about your approval. I am still hoping and praying that you hear something soon.

Well, one more day till I am off to JA for a little R&R for 6 days. Will miss you all and will link up when I get back. An early safe and enjoyable memorial day weekend to all.

Jason, happy to hear that Marla arrived safely and is settling in. May your lives together be filled with many blessings.

Love always

Claire

I think Airlines definitely have to ask all the pertinent questions. If they let someone through (on the plane) only to be turned back at POE, their airline will have to carry that person back home. Its in the airline's best interest that everyone is doing their part to follow the law. I THINK!!

That's why they want you to buy the round trip ticket and why the one way is more expensive so that if they turn you back, they can recoup the cost of your seat. rofl.gif

Hi Everyone. Earlier Clairern and Malita answered a question I had about the Form DS230. They mentioned that the documents (police certificate etc.) would be sent to the NVC for the CR1 visa. Will the husband have to take these same documents again to the Embassy in Kingston when he gets an interview date? If not, what should he have prepared to take to the interview? Thanks again in advance!

Yes. And, that has been a big issue lately.....people sending them to the NVC and thinking, oh, they have them, so why bother. He needs to take them with him as well.

Ok. Is he taking with him orginals again or the copies he made for himself when he sent them to NVC? For example, should he get 2 police certificates and keep one for himself, OR photocopies are sufficient? Is taking them to the interview a requirement or just a precautionary measure?

I'm guessing he hasn't applied for the police certificate yet. He will get 2 of them.

He needs originals.

It has been a requirement lately. I would not risk not taking them.

A friend of the family had an interview last month CR/1 and although she had everything they needed...they asked her for a copy of the I-130 and more wedding pictures (had them at the interview). They also asked her what took so long for her husband to file for her (they've been married 6 years). Does this make sense? They rescheduled her interview for June 24th. The I-130 was in the file...she received an e-mail from the embassy apologizing about the I-130 copy, but they can't get her in any sooner. She's fustrated.

Oh, honey.....nothing makes sense in the process.

Hey everyone I have a question. Dwayne picked up his police certificate yesterday. I told him he would need 2 copies. He said they told him he only gets one and asked me if he can just make a copy of it. Should I tell him to go apply and pay the 3000.00 again for another copy??

Thanks for your support
Wakey

Wakey, he should have been given an original and a copy with his picture and the police seal on each. I don't think you need to let him go bak and get another, but just make sure it is the original he submits. That is the only issue they have--they want the original--not two copies of it.

Good morning yardies. Just wanted ti share a little morning chuckle. Enjoy. star_smile.gif

Shirley & Marcy

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn't want his mother to walk with him.

She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe. So she had an idea of how to handle it.

She asked a neighbor if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn't notice her. The neighbor said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed. The next school day, the neighbor and her little girl set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor girl he knew.

She did this for the whole week. As the two walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy' s little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week.

Finally she said to Timmy, 'Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?'

Timmy nonchalantly replied, 'Yeah, I know who she is.'

The little girl said, 'Well, who is she?'

'That's just Shirley Goodnest,' Timmy replied, 'and her daughter Marcy.' 'Shirley Goodnest? Who is she and why is she following us?' 'Well,' Timmy explained, 'every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says, 'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get used to it!'

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today and always.

I know you smiled! I did.

Try taking B1 vitamin pills for the mosquitos. It makes you emit a smell that mosquitos don't like. But you have to start taking it at least 2 weeks BEFORE you go and during the time that you are there. It takes a while to get into your system. This really worked for me and I get horribly bit. My bites are in clusters and swell and turn dark purple then spread and the itch runs through my blood. Man its HORRIBLE. But the B1 works and you dont have to subject yourself to insecticides on your skin which are harmful. The pill must be a single vitamin not in a multi.

Wish I had known this earlier, but I am going next Wednesday. Guess I have to go use the insecticide....Oh well???

Thanks in advance.

Marlita, all the public clinic should offer the vaccines for free. That was how Mike got his. He got the MMR, Tetanue and Varicella (which is not really necessary per Banbury. They also gave him the polio vaccine--this is for kids not adults. There is a list that is on the dept of State website that tells you what is required for immigrants by age. I typed in "immigrant vaccine requirements."

To those whose still have your mothers in your lives and alive, count your blessings. Mu won mother is decease and I truly miss here at times like this. That's probably why I get along with my mother-inlaw and his grandmother so well. I call them every morning, just like I used to do when my own mother was alive. I call just to say I love you, and have a great day. His grandmother cracks me up, she now says every morning she is listerning for my call.

Every morning, on my drive to work ...(my one hour in rush hour traffic drive), I call my husband to say good morning, then I call his mother. His grandmother gets up a 5 oclock am in the morning and start calling everyone to check on them. I told her today, I was going to start calling her first and cut out the middle man, because she already has the family report at 5:01 am. She wanted to know how I know she is up at 5:00 am calling, I told her the angels wake me up and says "she 's at it again" Call her and tell her she needs her rest.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies are upon you on this day and everday. May you abide in God, as God abides in you.

Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.

Be Bless

Is this normal procedure? I was hoping Marla would get the visa by Thurs. so she could fly over on Fri.
It has been 12 days since interview.

Jason, I am sorry to hear that Marla's visa has not been issued yet. This happened recently to Ms. Chen whose hubby had his interview on 3/25 and still does not have his visa. When she emailed the embassy, they told her he was in AP and his visa should be issued within the week. Try to email the consulate and ask them why the visa has not been issued yet. They usually respond promptly. I emailed them today and they responded within 2 hours.

Good luck!!

Well, now tht I spoke with him things do look better. He actuallygot there a little after 8am and got #25 and went through to the CO who reviewed his papers and said everthing is ok but she needs the other copy of the PC. When he comes back with it, he will get the visa. I looked at the copy that I have and it seems like it is the original, so I will bring it down when I go in two weeks. He is rescheduled for June 26th.

Thank you all for your empathy in this overwhelming situation. I really appreciate it. I am more upset about it than he is. He said that it will work itself out and that God know best. Not to worry. I wish I had the inner calm that he has. Thngs like this does not bother him as much as it does me.

He actually got there around 0745 and they took him right in and he had the interview. He was laughing and all about the whole thing, how easy it was, although he was a bunch of nerves.

He told me a story about a guy who was there for a fiance visa and couldn't spell his finance name and the CO said "this is the woman who you want to spend the rest of your life with and you can't spell her name?" She spelled it for him but when he went to write it he look uncertain and she said "I am not helping you anymore." Mike said he left before the guy's interview was completed. Another lady was there with her 18yo daughter and had issues with the AOS and they gave her a paper to come back.

Mike got a yellow paper with missing documents to resubmit on 6/26. I have never heard about a yellow paper. Has anyone else? I guess I will see it when I go home in two weeks.

Hey Ladies;

Had to go for a long walk to clear my head. Now, I get back to my desk and get an e-mail from the embassy saying they did mail out packet 4 and all now I don't get it. So, I politely asked again, when it was mailed they said the 18th of April, so I e-mailed them to ask what address...DEM AVE DI WRANG ADDRESS

How is that possible? The address on the petition and the DS-230 are all the same. I don't know where the heck the got the address from for my fiance and they promised to mail the interview letter to me (that address is also wrong). Wrong number and wrong street name. This is just not my time.

Gone for another walk. I replied with the proper address. I'm so fustrated. How could this have happened? No wonder we don't have Packet 4 yet. NVC and DOS have the proper address.

Ask them to e-mail the info to you or he can go and pick up packet #4. When I was concerned about Mike not getting his in time for his medical, I emailed them and they emailed my back with a date to pick the packet. They subsequently re-mailed the packet to both of us and we received them in a week.

Try that. When you have an interview date, they are quick to respond. Goodluck.

Thanks Claire, I did e-mail them. Actually, they replied 4 times in less than an hour. I think they know I'm fustrated, but I am always polite, but FIRM. I didn't want to push too many buttons since they were nice to enough to give me the date and time I requested. Oh, well, I hope it will work out by this weekend. Likkle more.

What a stress pon mi today

Lawny, you have come this far and you need to try and relax. Youa re too young to let stress hinder and hamper you. Stress will give you heart trouble. Try and find a way to deal with this better. There are some things you are going to have to ignore and move on. You still have almost 2 months to get this Packet #4. It will come. Don't go losing hope now. good.gif

Good Morning Ladies. Here is a little "chuckle" to share. Enjoy.

A skinny little white guy goes into an elevator, looks up and sees this
HUGE black guy standing next to him. The big guy sees the little guy
staring at him looks down and says: "7 feet tall, 350 pounds, 20 inch
private, 3 pound testicles, Turner Brown."

The white man faints and falls to the floor. The big guy kneels down and
brings him to, shaking him. The big guy says: "What's wrong with you?"

In a weak voice the little guy says, "What EXACTLY did you say to me?"

The big dude says: "I saw your curious look and figured I'd just give
you the answers to the questions everyone always asks me.....I'm 7 feet
tall , I weigh 350 pounds, I have a 20 inch private, my testicles weighs
3 pounds each, and my name is Turner Brown. "

The small guy says: "Turner Brown?!...Sweet Jesus, I thought you said,
"Turn around".

I hope so. I really do. Today is a really hard day. My work is super stressful right now, I am past 180 days at VSC with no news. The phone card I have been using for like 3 years (Sprint International) just suddenly went up to 50cents a minute, and lots more things I just want to crawl in a ball and whine about. cry about.
sad.gif thanks ladies for the continual support and prayers.
and....did anyone else use sprint? what other calling cards are good? I cant really get a plan on the house phone b/c I just rent a room from a lady...so..any help?

WOW Shrewdie!!!! That's alot! That's the same one I was using via CVS b/c they give you a 10% increase whenever you renew the card with them!!

I'm sorry your having a bad day!

This too shall pass!

Bless,
Gill

yeah. I have just been renewing the same one and yesterday my minutes went from 75 t 25 and I called and thats why.
lovely.

Oh my!! That is the same card I use --mi go check pon it........

let me know. maybe its just b/c mine was an older one?

Shrew-girl, mine seems to be the same as it was. I know they changed the look of them so maybe they are expiring yours. Run in CVS and grab and new one and give it a try!

okay. I will. maybe that is it. I hope so!!
When I called and added yesterday $25.00 only gave me 50 minutes!!!! crying.gif
when did you get yours? have you topped up lately?

I added $20 to my CVS Sprint card yesterday and got 106 minutes. What is going on with your card? Have you called customer service?

I have a joke to share. Hopefully you haven't posted it here already.

Winston the Jamaican is on 'Who wants to be a Millionaire' and has reached the $1 million question. Meredith Veira says, "Right Winston, this is for $1 million, and remember, you still have two lifelines left, so please take your time. "Here's your question: What type of animal lives in a Sett? "
Is it.
A: Badger
B: Ferret
C: Mole
D: Cuckoo?"

Winston ponders for a while and says, "Backside Meridith, mi not sure, gi mi di 50-50."
"Right, Winston, let's take away two wrong answers and see what you're left with. 'Badger' and 'Cuckoo' are the two remaining answers.

Winston has a long think, then scratches his head and says, "Blouse an' Skirt Meridith, mi still nuh know, mek mi phone mi small island bredren."

So who are you going to call?" says Meridith.

"Hmmm, Ah tink I'll call Selwyn in Mandeville ."

So Meridith phones Selwyn in Mandeville. "Selwyn, this is Meridith Veira from 'Who wants to be a Millionaire'. I've got Winston here, and with your help he could win $1 million. The next voice you hear will be Winston."

"Wha gwan Selwyn". "Where mi money deh...? any way, ansa dis an we quits. What type ah hanimal mek im yard in a set? Is a badger or a cuckoo?"

"Is a badger, man." says Selwyn without hesitation.

"You sure, bwoy ?"

"Definite. Wan 'undred purcent. A badger. Definitely."

"Right, Chris, tank yu man.""

"I'll go wit di heediat bwoy Selwyn.

The answer is a badger.

"Final answer, Winston?"

"Yeh mon, Meridith, final answer."

"That's the correct answer. You've won $1 million!" Cue wild celebrations.

Next morning Winston calls up Selwyn, "Bredren that was blood-fire ansa laas night bwoy, yuh cum good! How you did know badger yard is a sett?"

" Me nevah know..." replies Selwyn, "... But everybaddy know cuckoo live inna clock.

That was me - never touched a single time. Then all of the sudden one day I got the e-mail!

Where you been all day. I need to laugh. SOMEBODY ANYBODY make me laugh

Working!!! Boss has been in the office every day this week. Time for him to leave so I can chat it up on VJ!

I see everyone making appointments to drop off the DS230. Is the other option by mail?

My can send it express. Which is the only way I would send something to the embassy. I DO NOT TRUST THE JAMAICAN MAIL SYSTEM. (That way you have a record)... All now my fiance don't have packet 4 which they say they mail out 2 weeks ago and send me an appointment letter also since I'm attending. I guess it's still be typed up.

Did you receive the letter from Kingston? Since you are going to be there at the interview, you can fax him a copy of the letter so he can have his medical done and hopefully by the interview date comes around he will get it. Or you can use your to take to the interview. good.gif

You know what is strange... Mike never received any mail from the NVC but when I told him I received the letter from Kingston, he sent his daughter to the post office and he got his also. They mailed it 4/8 and he got it last week...That freaks me out. I don't bother writing to him anymore, cause its a waste of time and money and effort---it getting delayed and all.

Thanks Trelawny and Awakening.

Awakening your interview reminds me of us a year ago. I can't beleive we had our interview just one year ago in May. It feels like forever ago. How time flies.

I am doing just fine after I take my pain medication. She wants to be fed about 12 times a day so for the most part I am tired. My mom and dad are coming to help Thursday-Saturday nights. This is when hubby goes to work. Its hard cause he wants to help but I want hubby to sleep because he has work and finals next week. The sooner he is done with school the better off we will be. He wants another one but I don't at this time pregnancy and labor was ruff. Maybe we will think about it when he finishes school. He has 1 year done out of the 4 years. One thing is hubby and I can't believe how light she is. I can't wait until she is a few months older and not sleeping all day. smile.gif

Good mornig you all,

I have a question to ask (maybe silly to some of you). Have you ever heard of anyone filing CR1/IR1 being denied in Kingston. Im just curious my case was just completed at the NVC and im just curious.

Thanks,
Kishmar

When I went to my interview I did see a CR1 case denied. The reason the guy didn't finalize his divorce from his first wife before they got married. Eric on here got denied for ganga. He was baned 3 years and waited. Then they recieved their visa. I really don't think its anything you have to worry about as long as every thing is ligit. You will do fine cause your using this site. Just bring as much prof as possible down. All the best!! smile.gif

Thanks Bel for the info not really worried. Ive been married to my darling for almost 4 years now come July this year......Not sure of the evidence my hubby will be coming for the interview and i have a few pictures, cards, and such like....My marriage to my husband for almost 4 years and him coming back and forth should be proof enough dont you think???

Regards,
Kishmar

Kishmar that is plenty. Being married 4 years is great enough evidence in my book. All the best.

That is what I keep telling her laughing.gif

offtopic45vn.gif Hello everyone! I'm back from a wonderful visit with Dwayne. We had a blast just being together. Anyway, I must share what happened as I prepared to leave Sunday. It's pretty long but I figured someone could relate or benefit from my lessons learned.

I get to the Kingston airport and they ask for my passport. No problem I think and reach in my bag. OH LORD no passport!! I get out of line and rip open suitcase and no passport!! I had to call Dwayne to come back to get me. We go back to the house and search and search no passport!! I'm crying at this point because I'm supposed to be back at work next day. Dwayne family was all talking in loud patois about it being stolen and how people will take your picture out and sale it on black market. They fuss and fuss at me about not keeping up with it (Like I didn't fuss enough at myself). crying.gif So I call the embassy and they were closed. My sister (Jawi876) looks up process for getting a temp passport and this is when the worse stress of my life begins. She tells me I will need a police report. So off we go to local police station in the area to report it. They look at me as if I have 4 heads and say, "You lost your passport or it stolen?" I say I have no idea it was not in my purse when I went to airport. They write something in a huge book about what I said and tell me I must go to Spanish town tomorrow to collect a form before they can do the report. I say, "You have to be kidding me!! Why can't you just give me the report?" They tell me it doesn't work that way and I say, "it sounds like you are giving me procedure for Jamaicans who lose their passport not Americans. This is what Dwayne had to do because his passport from birth was wet up and he needed to file a lost/damaged form. This is what took so long for him to order a new one. We basically ran around from town to town building to building 5 days of my trip). The police scratch their heads and say no "We THINK you need to go to Spanish town." So next morning we are off to Spanish town and when we get there they again do the 4 head look at me and say, "You lost your passport or it stolen?" OH Lord Gawd!! They say stand outside. I wait outside and then they call me back and give me the same form Dwayne had to fill out and say you will need to take this back to police station where you reported it lost and they will stamp it and then bring it back here. I said, #######!!" Dwayne grabs my hand and pulls me out because I'm crying now and acting like a crazed lunatic ready to windmill on some dummies heads. mad.gif So they agree I don't need to bring it back to them but I do need to go back to police station for report to be filled out. So we go back to station (4 hrs to get back) and they say, "The person who needs to sign this is in court. You will need to come back tomorrow." I'm seeing red I'm so mad. So Dwayne makes a call to a cousin who is a policeman to see if he can help and he tells us to leave the form and come back tonight and he will have it filled out. We get back that night and the form is not done. They say he has been in court. The officers at desk do the 4 head move again and say, "Ma'am we have to investigate this passport issue and it can take 3 weeks or more before we give you these forms and a report." I freak out and start yelling again that it is absurd, so they send me to see the Chief. He sits behind his desk looking aggravated that I disturbed him from reading the paper and does the 4 head thing at me again. Then he says it may not take 3 weeks but this doesn't happen in one day. It may take us 1-2 weeks to complete this investigation. He says, "You see ma'am police are suspicious by nature and we need to find exactly what happened to your passport. It can't just be gone because you come in here and say it's missing." I tell him it is gone and he presses for more details of when I last saw it in my purse. He then says again, "Yes this will take time to investigate." I say, "What exactly are you investigating and can I help you complete the investigation tonight?!! I need to get to embassy tomorrow with a police report." He says, "Ma'am you see this looks suspicious so we have to find out if you sold it for money and thought you could come in here to get a police report for a new one." mad.gif I say, "I can't believe you are accusing me of something like that and then say, "Why on earth would I sell my passport when my plane was scheduled to leave?" He says, "That's what we need to get to the bottom of." Anyway, we argue back and forth and Dwayne is trying to tell him I must get back to my job or risk being fired. He chuckles and says, Ma'am you were given a passport and you failed to keep it safe. You must deal with the consequence of that and your job is not our concern." Over an hour I argue my case that I'm willing to assist in investigation but I'm not leaving the station without a police report. Finally Dwayne calls cousin and he comes to the rescue and asks the Chief if he can do the report and he tells him ok. We do the report which was nothing but my statement on notebook paper. The next morning we head to embassy and I pay the $100.00 to get the temp passport. So lessons learned 1. Get a purse with a zipper. 2 Never leave passport in houses (lock it up somewhere safe). 3. Never lose passport again good.gif

On my way to airport yesterday, Dwayne's brother called and says excitedly, "Me find de passport pon de floor in de car!" It fell out into his car and we didn't see it in the search!! LAWD GAWD

Dwayne received a letter that our interview is scheduled for 6/24/08 at 7:30 am. Yippie.

I'm praying for those of you still waiting on details on your status.

Sorry for all the BS they put you through, but sometimes when we loose things and are looking for it in a hurry, we always overlook it. But nayway congrats on getting a June interview. kicking.gif

(She never liked me...cause my family are 'foreginers'(Jamaican) wacko.gif ...she told my Ex that I would put Dreadlocks into my boys hair before they were 2!!... blink.gif I guess that I met her son when he had dreads means nothing blink.gif )

Anyway, I made the introductions to Ken and she was like ..."THIS MAN IS YOUR HUSBAND...HE IS SO YOUNG!!! ohmy.gif (Ken's 27...but looks younger) Gillian, he looks like he could be one of your students!" Ken looked at me and I was like... sad.gif unsure.gif ...My man stepped up and was like ..."Ohhh, but I am Young...Keniel Young and so is my wife...she is 'Forever Young' and I am one of her students...she teaches me something new everyday and... night!" and gave her a wink.gif and slapped my butt! I busted out in wan dutty laugh! She was like ohmy.gif and walked away without another word!

That woman always made me feel less than and my Ex joined her in demoralizing me. When she said that about Ken...it took me right back to my 'trying to please the world' stage of my life! Ken was the first man that ever stood up for me to her! She's nothing but a bully and hurt because her husband left her for a 25 year old after 20 odd years of marriage! Now I can understand why! biggrin.gif

Way to go Ken!!!! good.gif

I understand what ur saying Claire..My thoughts run wild and the fact that this is the MATTRESS they/you used to share MOMENTS just makes my skin itch...our bed is brand new for both of us...i wouldn't sleep on a mattress that I know used to be THE BED..i told my husband many times he laughs but..i wouldn't be able to sleep..call me crazy...it's a pet peeve (sp)..and this is also a reason why I do not like to stay in hotels...I bring sheets and pillow cases to put over theirs ... smile.gif

Girl you are just like a friend of mine. Wherever she goes she takes her own linen and we don't even use the towels in the hotels, no matter how "clean" they look. laughing.gif

The bed and mattress is "virgin". laughing.gif Never did the "horizontal mumbo jumbo" no0pb.gif in it and I have had them for almost three years tongue.gif

I never thought about it. Makes sense though. We recently moved...started over with new stuff except our mattress for our bedroom. Damien wants to buy a new one....maybe that's why...

In JA, Damien lived in a bachelor pad with 4 of his friends. I only stayed there for two nights. If those walls could talk...
