Mawning My wonderful VJ Family,

Welcome back Jengy (& Missa Jengy- good.gif )!!! Congrats to Minfey and Fam! Ok, I have alot of reading to do! Ken, I & the family, had a VERY busy weekend. We took the boys to the movies, helped my cousin moved, went to my son's hockey, soccer, & track games and I finally took Ken out dancing in Brooklyn on Sunday night (music was great...but Ken was not impressed wid the security pon top of security, no smoking in the club rules...etc.-he now understands why we (Americans or Farriner's) have such a good time when we go down to JA.) But it was ALL good!

He met a few more of my cousins, (who I am very close with and was very nervous about cause they are so important to me) another Aunt & Uncle and they all LOVED him!! Ken actually busted his hump helping my cousin and her hubby move this weekend and they really appreciated his help!

I come from a VERY CLOSE knit family and they are tough on new applicants trying to get in laughing.gif ...they couldn't stand my ex...but they all LOVED Ken!!!!! biggrin.gif Don't get me wrong whether they liked him or not...I wouldn't be backing down from our marriage. Ken's my ONE...he's that 'once in a lifetime' love we all read about! But, it just makes life so much easier when they all get along. Trust me...I learned that from Marriage #1!

Life is good! I am so very blessed to have him, and him, me... wink.gif Life has been so much better since he arrived for EVERYONE!! I get to sleep in late, cause he makes Breakfast and takes care of the boys! He has started helping my Dad (who IMO has a hording problem laughing.gif ) start cleaning out our basement and other hiding holes around the house!

The one issue I have found is my pace. I don't know if anyone else had this problem when their SO first got here. But I have been a single Mom for 7-8 years now...so I am use to doing things at my pace and being ready and having my kids ready... when I'm ready (which is usually quick fast! laughing.gif ). Now, I have to adjust to working at other persons pace and being patient cause his pace is not as fast as mine. I was PMSing last week and blew-up at Ken cause I was waiting on him. I apologized profusely and explained the issue I was having. We talked it out and he is trying to speed up is pace and I am learning to slow mine and 'TRY' to give us more time to do what we have to do to be out!

Other than that all is well...seriously REALLY WELL biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ! I'm following JG's lead and think putting this stuff out there b/c it may help someone else learn from my mistakes and I may get some good tips on how to better handle this situation next time!

Have Bless-ed day Family...now let me get back to my 'catch-up' reading!

Gill

P.S.- Who had their interview again today? Well, good luck to you both and you are in my prayers!!

Thanks for the update Gill. Sounds like you all are having a great time. Nice to hear about Ken. I know what you mean bout slowing down your pace and such. Its just that American lifestyle...plus your in NY and i can tell you it is SUPER fast pace down there, I'm from LA and we all know thats a fast lifestyle, but when I visited NY...oh no!! I felt as sloe as a country bumpkin so I can imagine Ken having a hard time to keep up with the lifestyle. i think its good that he's around to slow you down a bit. I gotta say...when I was in NY I was like "man, these people are crazy anxious. its like everybody all stressed out and ready to kill somebody!" Yeah...apparently NY is NOT for me. haha

Lita that was one of the reasons I moved to NC. Slower pace and more laid back. After living in NYC for 20+ years, I needed to get away from all that stress. Don't miss it at all and going on 2+ years.

I remember when JPII came to St. Louis. That was crazy. Good luck getting around town today.

Anyone heard from Rhonda lately?

I'm wondering what happened to LaPrincesa and the interview too. Kimmy, did you know her?

Oh, and Kimmy.....no Lauren for Kashi? What name is he leaning towards?

JG, I just checked her profile and her hubby's visa was approved according to her signature and she has her wedding scheduled for June 7th in Miami. Her hubby is arriving thru JFK 5/5.

Morning Yardies;

Miss you all terribly. Just finishing up my second 12 hour night shift at work. Hoping to go home and get some sleep.

Quick question for those whose SO had their IR1/K3 visa interviews since the new fee increase at the NVC stage. Did your hubby have to ante up any additional funds to the embassy on the day of their interview? I paid the visa fee of $380 but the fee went up a bit since then. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Hey Wakey;

Congrats on your speedy progress and good luck to you both.

I thought packet #4 contains the interview date along with info about getting his medical done? I received p #4 and that was what it contained. What was in your p#4? I am curious.

He said he got lots of papers and information to go get the medical. He didn't read it all yet. Said he would go through it this weekend. I told him ok. I didn't know it might have the interview information. I just figured package 4 had medical information only!! I will find out and let you know what all is in the papers. blink.gif

That just might be the case. The interview letter should be in there on top. I hope for you that it is and will be during the time you are going to be there. How long are you going for? You might have to change your date or extend your stay kicking.gif kicking.gif

I was going for 10 days. I was just thinking the same thing about changing my date. That's why I'm in a panic. He just filed for non impendiment yesterday! I have to settle my spirit. Stop worrying about what I don't know yet and deal with what comes when it comes.

Yeah stop worrying. If he does not get the non-mpediment before the interview date, he should take the receipt and they will approved him with a 221-g (I think) pending the cert that is needed. All you both have to do is mention the speed of how things went and how slow the RGD work. I wish and hope the date is in the papers he got. kicking.gif I can't wait to hear that it is. good.gif

I just called and he was at work he say he will tell me later. That settles it. Now I wait. That is the one thing about this Jamaican love they don't jump with urgency like we do in the States everything will get done in the right time. Me I want to pounce when I hear anything moving! biggrin.gif

They have a very laid back attitude that I can't stand. Even though I am Jamaican, I find it hard to deal with but as JG says, that will change. I can't imagine him not stopping everything and tearing through those papers from excitement. Maybe he doesn't want others around him to see or know his business.

I faxed Mike's interview letter to my girlfriend this morning and she sent it to him by messenger and when I called him he told me he did not open the envelope. I would have gone somewhere, even in the bathroom and tore that envelope open and examine the contents laughing.gif laughing.gif

Two weeks to mail out the most important piece of mail that brings this daunting and stressful process to an end. I now have to send it to him DHL in the morning because I got the letter when I was getting ready to come to work tonight.

I just hope and pray that it gets there before his medical next week (4/16).

I want to once again thank you all for your support and for listening to my constant whining. Now to start a Yardie May interview thread.

Did he receive a packet 4 also? My husband and I received packet 4 the same week. If you want to be safe you could express ship it to him tomorrow. Good luck you guys are in our thoughts and prayers.

Jax, he has not received one piece of mail that the NVC has sent to him since July 2007. That is why I was so twisted in a pretzel about it. I wanted to get it in time to be able to send it to him. I am going to send it to him via DHL in the morning. I am also going to fax a copy of the letter to my girlfriend in Portmore and have him go pick it up this weekend, just in case the package does not get there on time for his medical appointment. good.gif

Hi,

I know things will work itself out in time. You sound like a wondeful person, and God has sent you as his angel to MIke. Mike is scared, because he never thought something SOOOOOOOOO good would ever happen to him. Remember this is God's will. He didn't have to take you to another country to find your angel, but he did because you two belong together.

Be Bless
Roxcie

Thanks Roxcie. From the day we met he has always said that our meeting was ordained by God. the devil is just trying to interupt what blessings God is tryin g to bestow upon us because he know how weak we as human beings are. We are now taking things one day at a time so that healing can take place.

Thanks again for your expressed faith in us good.gif

Hey Family,

How are you all doing?

The things you guys get up to when I'm away! laughing.gif ...Gotta check-out that 'Lush ' place! I miss you guys...but trying to get everything settled and done for Sunday! Life is good...although hectic. Missa Young is really getting into his groove now and lovin' NY!
Engy, good luck ...you are in my prayers for a call back for an interview!

Irie, you must be so excited! When is Louis coming?

Shrewdie, I'm sorry Chica...hang in there...I just don't understand what is taking so darn long!

Kimmy, how yuh doing darling? Yuh still going to classes? How's likkle Mama Mora doing?

Tre & Wakey...onnuh ready...your big day is coming! You will both be fine!

Sus-ie...how was Yard?

To the rest of the Fam...much love always!

Bless-ed love always,
Gill

P.S.- I don't know if we touched on this yesterday...but Tuesday night I was even more proud to be an American!!! Wow, I honestly never thought I would live to see the day that a man of African descent would earn a nomination to be President of th U.S.A! Wow...that is definitely going to be a "Where were you when" moment for me! I'm not going to lie...I bawled like a baby...not for Obama...but because another opportunity just opened up for our sons to strive for!

OBAMA '08...I'm back on that grind!!! good.gif

Good Morning Gill! I can't wait to see wedding pics! I am glad to hear Mr likes NY... Louis will be here on the 14th and I am so excited. He is so calm and swears he will be fine. He has no problems leaving St Lucia and is so sure everything is going to be A-OK! I really hope he likes Maine - says he can't wait for our drives together (we always drove around St Lucia together)...

I was watching GMA this morning and Obama's family from Africa was on there and soooo happy for him. I was bawling myself, mind you I am always emotional, but amidst all the ####### going on in this world today this is so inspiring.
I have a lotus flower tattoed on my arm and the symbalism of it is very similar to how I feel about Obama becoming president....

A lotus flower grows in the dark mud of a pond and becomes a beautiful flower that cleans the water around it. I hope that Obama can clean all the "water around him" and become a great leader!

Goodevening Ladies,

My thoughts on Obama.

He may be the next President of the United States and he may not. I am undecided as to who I am going to vote for. I'm not saying anyone on here is voting for him because he is black, but I get that impression from alot of people and it could just be the media. But I hope our society looks past the color of skin and look at the person and their issues.

Me and Marla are doing great and they are having a great time. We have had some issues (small arguements) but we look back at them at day's end and laugh about it. Part of the adjusting period I guess.

I am going to apply for an EAD soon so she will able to work. Also, today Marla is looking for a hair dresser and I don't anything about it, so wish her luck. Saturday my brother is going to keep Amoy and we are going to have our 1st date in America. Don't know where were going yet but it is her birthday so I gotta take her somewhere nice. And we get the whole night to ourselves!

Jason, so happy to hear that things are going ok with you both. It must be real exciting. So you got yourself a Gemini?? She is a great lover, just treat her with kindness and gentleness. She loves to talk and loves a partner who loves to talk.

Bear with her, as the ajustment period can be overwhelming. Good luck to you both and best of luck with the rest of your lives together.

Much love
Claire

Gas is a little over $4 here and my car cost me almost $60 to fill up cause I was lazy to drive to the gas station. I have to buy 93 octane as the manufacturer suggests or it will damage my engine. When my car gets to 1/2 tank I try to fill it up. I also get discounted gas at Costco, BJ's or walmart by using their membership card

Talking about gas. I have a minivan and I get pretty good gas mileage as long as I don't drive like a BAT out of HELL. I filled up yesterday just under $47.00 for midrange. The guy next to me was putting $5.00 (I thought I was reading it wrong). His ESCALADE tag ID (now ya'll can't laugh) "I KANDY". Now, why the hell would that man have that on his tag. My girlfriend was like now, where the hell is that going to take him. It seems like if he drove to the end of the gas station he would have ran out of gas.

Thank you guys for your response. I stressed the same things to him. We are having some relationship problems, so maybe that is his way of dealing with it. His is in his 40's and I reiterated to him that he is not the first 40ish years old person to move somewhere new and start a new life. I also reminded him that he will be getting me as a bonus. lol. Anyway after I talked to him some more he changed his mind and is now planning to go take care of his business. Don't know how soon after he gets the visa he will come but at least he will have the choise as you guys have mentioned to see what life here holds for him and if it doesn't suit him then he as the option of moving back home.

I also think he feels that way because he knows that my life is already established and you know some men want to build a life with you where you can attain things together. I have all attained all the material things and am past the childbearing age (a lie dat) so all we can build together is our lives. I am physically unable to go through a pregnancy because of a heart condition that I have.

I plan to be as supportive as I can and have already been, but I can't force him to go against the way he feels. I want him here with me but as I stated before somewhere, he is going to spend some time in Florida with his dad before he joins me here. I am hoping that transition period will be enough to waken him to the realitiy of the situation that we have a life to build together no matter what.

Thanks again for your frank replies to my query

offtopic45vn.gif Hey guys, I have been back from Jamaica for a copule of days now but was in kinda of a funk. sad.gif

When I visited Mike in Ja last month, he expressed that he was not sure if he was going back to the embassy this month to turn in his police certificate so he can get his visa. He said that a man his age has to pack up from the way of life he has been used to all his life and move to a new country to start his life all over. I was dumbfounded when I heard this because of all the plans we made and what my expections were. I am at a loss right now.. crying.gif crying.gif

What do you guys think about this?

Hope ya'll are having a wonderful weekend. I just finished frying about 40 fish for a coookout tomorrow at my parents house...and I did all that after being in a wedding earlier today. Bride spent 45 minitutes looking for her husband. He was in his truck on the cell phone. I guess I hear the details later on. Anyways ya'll have a good night.

Mi undah mi...STONE GINGAH WINE...plus a likkle grey goose and cranberry juice...woieeeeeee I hope I can wake in the morning. Mi ave more fish fi fry and steam.

Hey Kimmy --- Gill, I was suppose to be in New York for Trelawny day, but I my friend asked me to fill in for his sister at his wedding. She say she naw participate in any madness. Wedding was very stressful. Bway mi a tell u...Mother-in-laws can ruin a lot of things (from ediah side).

Unbelievable. 45 minutes?? There would be hell 2 pay!! I'm soooo jealous of you right now...what I wouldn't give for a Stone Ginger Wine right now---one of my favorite drinks! Can you send me some steam fish thru the mail--no head please!! Have a good Memorial Day!

Mrs. P; the fish is in the mail and as you requested, I took the head off. rofl.gif I drink Stone Giner Wine almost everynight. Just a shot glass. My dad's grandmother was half scottish and half irish (JAMAICAN) and she use to make it and give it to couples for their wedding night. She also drank more that a shot glass everyday and she lived to be 109 and was absolutely beautiful. I love her so much and I miss her. She would tell us her family wanted nothing to do with her because she married a man that was the colour of NIGHT. I use to sit for hours and just brush her hair it was silver and long. I would part it down the middle and plat it in to long braids. I'll see if it works on me. I know it does a lot to calm my nerves and I'll be sure to drinks some the morning before my interview.

Lord, it look like VERMONT fell asleep...tell dem fi git up; and dear Lord, please keep my sisters here near to you and watch over them and their families daily.
