I just got back from walking over to the hospital with my mom. My Aunt died about 10 a.m. today. I'm so glad it's over for here. She struggled with this for so long and in great pain. My dad is a mess. She's his little sister. Added to the fact that we lost my grandmother, who lived with my mom and dad, just one year ago this Thursday......well, you can imagine how torn up he is right now. I feel so bad for him.

I am at the point where I just want to say 'f' it let's just go do this dyam thing by ourselves!! But, I can't cause both families would kill us! Mine loves an excuse for a party...so they are looking forward to it! Although it will not be big to-do...we started with 5/23 (18 months to the date that we met)...but that's Memorial Day weekend and everyone has made plans. Then I said 6/1/08 after church with a brunch to follow...Nope...they want Saturday night party...So now I'm thinking bout 6/14/08!

Can't do it in the next 3 weeks cause my 2nd job (1800-flowers) will be on and popping for Mother's Day! Have to do it before 6/18 cause my Dad is going to Florida for a month and our 90 days are up 7/1/08! Trust me...I am so over calling Ken my 'Fiance' ...mi waan fi call em mi husband arready!! It is a special day...but neither one of us are super fussy! We just want a small chapel wedding with some music and food afterwards!

Hey Gill,

What's going on this Sunday morning. Just finished a plate a fritters, fry fish and bammi (what a combo).
JAX I had a C-Section also, I didn't take any of the pain meds, because I was nursing, so I just dealt with the pain. The gave me STAPLES mad.gif WHICH I told them I didn't want. It hurt like HELL to have them removed. That was my second C-Section, but the second time around I was blessed with a beautiful boy. Like Gill said, take your time. But you must move around. I made the mistake the first time and just stayed in bed and GAS nearli kill mi. With my second C-Section I was walking around latter that night. The nurses were yelling at me, but I didn't care. I didn't want to feel the pain I was feeling the first time around. I'm hoping and praying that God will bless me with a second child. It was a battle to get my son here.

Hey Sweets,

Great bellys tink alike laughing.gif ...Ken made me some Fritters w/ hardo bread this morning with REAL cocoa Tea! I'm sorry...but I LOVE MY MAN!! luv.gif (However, my behind has gained 5-8 lbs since his arrival mad.gif ) laughing.gif laughing.gif

I have tried a dozen times to make hardo bread and it never comes out right!! Will he share his recipe??

No problem Isles...

Get into your car and drive to your closest Jamaican Bakery...take out $5.00 and tell the man/woman behind the counter, you'd like a hot fresh Hardo Bread please...Presto whamo ...done! laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif . Ken tried baking it here ONCE...it was like Hardo DOUGH!!! YUCK!! We're lucky we happen to have THE BEST hardo bread IN THE WORLD right down the road from Ken's place!

Yes, I did say THE WORLD!! Even Ken admitted that he had NEVER had Hardo bread like this before! Gurrrrrl, if we get that dyam ting straight out the oven...we know to buy two...cause the 1st one ain't making it home (10 minute ride!) laughing.gif laughing.gif .

Congrats to Jason and Marla!!!

offtopic45vn.gif To all you vets who have gone through this process. Today I received a piece of mail from Kingston with "APPT" on the envelope and which seems like package #4. It includes as the cover page with the information for his visa interview and went on to say that "this letter must be presented upon your arrival at the office on your appointment date."

It looks nothing like the letter we received from the NVC with his interview appointment and it also included an "immigrant visa checklist, the DS-230, medical history and physical info and info about scheduling your medical exam and photo and vaccination requirements."

What do you guys think about this? I have already sent Mike the appointment letter with the enclosures that I received from the NVC and he received it last week Tuesday and was able to get his medical done on Wednesday. Should I just ignore this? Maybe they sent it because I had e-mailed them with my concern of not receiving the letter in time for the medical to be done 10-14 days before the interview????

Any ideas and did anyone, that was the agent, receive this mail from Kingston?

Sounds like what we had to take the interview with us. I would send it to him.

JG, I already sent him the appointment letter I got from NVC and he was able to get the medical with that.

Good Morning Claire,

Your time is coming. I'm so happy for you.

My fiance's friend has a follow-up appointment at the embassy this morning and he text me and told me that it looks like the guard that pulled my dress at the embassy went back to work today. He should have been FIRED! But I didn't want to push any buttons since the interview wasn't scheduled yet and no approval. I'm still very much upset about it.

My sister had a scare yesterday it took them 2 hours to find the baby's heartbeat and entire time my mom kept suggesting that they turned my sis and they refused. So, the doctor comes in and asked "didyou try to turn her" soon as they did that they found the heart beat. I was so scary. So, please keep my sis in your prayers. My little brother is doing okay. He went back to work yesterday.

I managed to get 3 hours sleep last night. Haven't slept since Monday. I look like MAD MAVIS!

Will keep your sis in my prayers, will also pray that she remains safe from the INCOMPETENCE of people around her...it's like they were too caught up in themselves to think your mom could be RIGHT ranting33va.gif
DAMNNNNNN.....your brother had HEART SURGERY LAST week, and back to work THIS WEEK????????

Thanks English;

It wasn't really surgery, more like a procedure. They had to shock his heart back into the proper rhythm. It's happend before when he was 18 I think. My little brother is my HEART. I love him so much. He's the perfect gentleman and I hope my son picks up his spirit. We use to be sooooooooo CLOSE, but when he started dating it kind of change, but just a little. I still love him though. When he was born I was 12 years old and people thought he was my son. I use to irritate my mom. I was like, are you guys NUTS! My mother would have killed me if I had a child that young. My little brother is my heart, because he's just a CALM and PATIENT person. He never yell, curses, gets upset, NOTHING. He just takes one day at a time and he's EXTREMELY polite. So, when he told me he was feeling funny I knew exactly what was wrong.

Hey English,

I didn't know a car had ran into the Jamaican store RED APPLE that's located in Langely Park last month. I went there last night to buy some saltfish and the owner was telling me.

I have a park in your area too??? rofl.gif (Langley) I am very popular. laughing.gif

Oh...I forgot to tell ya'll...

Ken got his SS card on Monday!!! He was so dyam happy! He is hitting the job trail tomorrow! Fingers crossed that someone is willing to work with us until we can file his AOS and get his permanent SS & Green Card!

The SS card says "Valid for Work only...with authorization from DHS" Which I believe is where the EAD stamp comes in.

Questions:

1). Is the EAD stamp the 'authorization they are referring to?
2). Does anyone know if the SS number will change once he gets his permanent SS Card?

Cause I know people that are trying to link him up with a job...but it will be a problem if they start and continue to take $$ out of his check for this SSN during the AOS waiting time...only to find out his SSN changed.

DO my questions make sense? blink.gif wacko.gif

Thanks & bless-ed, Gill

Great news on the SS card Gill. kicking.gif Good luck to Ken and finding a job. His card # will definately remain the same, just have to get a new card after all this immigration stuff is over and done with. good.gif

Good morning all (almost forgot my manners today). What a beautiful sunny day we are having here in NC. I hope you all are having a beautiful day and hope that your day be fulfilling and productive.

Travelling in and out of JA has always been an adventure for me - On my first trip ever on Air JA (and to Jamaica), we had the most bizarre experience on the return trip - I was exhausted to the point that as soon as I sat in my seat I was asleep. Some Jamaican woman woke me up to cross over me into the seat next to me - She proceeded to hand me her baby to hold while she went and got the rest of her family sorted out. I couldn't believe it - I was dead asleep, then next think I knew I was holding this chubby baby!

laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif She trust you because there is no where you can go with her baby. Most Ja'cans on a whole are trustworthy though. yes.gif or I should say trustful

offtopic45vn.gif Morning ladies, I have a quick question to anyone who has booked with Air Jamaica directly through their website. I found the cheapest nonstop flight for the specific times I wanted on there but I don't see an option to choose your seats before purchasing. I don't want to purchase without picking my seat as I know I need an aisle seat. Is it that they randomly assign a seat?

I think after you purchase the ticket, it allows you to choose your seats. They also have web check in and you should be able to do it there. I was able to choose my seats when I travelled last year. good.gif

Claire you are right, I just booked and it allowed me to choose seats after I purchased. I booked for 6/4-6/8. I'm so friggin' excited, I have something to look forward to. kicking.gif I can't wait to tell D when he goes on his lunch break, I thought about keeping it a surprise like Lawny did but I know myself I can't keep it to myself for too long.

Ok M2B. My birthday is 6/6. Can I fit into your carryon? laughing.gif I hope you got a seat close to the front of the plane, cause when the plane lands it is like a mad rush to get off. rofl.gif It is like they have something in the airport giving away to the first person that gets off yes.gif rofl.gif

Okay girls, I am going to excercise my green thumb today. Going outside to plant some flowers to try and beautify the front of the house. Our water restrictions have been lifted sightly and we can now water 3 times per week and wash our cars on the weekends. I tell you my lawn dried up and I did not wash my care for months. I hate putting my hand in dirt, even if I wear gloves, it feels so icky (?)

Lawny, You are So BAD!

Lawny, we need a group prayer this morning. Sarah (FutureMrs/NowMrs) called me last night. She had a buddy pass and was hoping some kind soul would give up their seat from Arizona to KC so Sarah could be at her sister's bedside when they did as she wished and pulled the plug on her. Congestive Heart Failure. Sarah lost her mom in October (?) of 2006 to the same thing. She's doing really well; but taking it really hard. So, please say a prayer for her today and through the rest of the week of funeral arrangements.

On a good note, Marlon got a job and they are doing really well.

To my beautiful sister Sarah; I pray for you and your family in these times;

Father God,

I know that you will guide Sarah and her family as you've always done in the past. Today she/we lean hard on that and ask that you to continue to show her and her family your tremendous STRENGTH and POWER. Father, sometimes I know that things are brought before us…but you promise to meet our needs even then. Today I acknowledge we need you. Lord I pray that you give Sarah and her family emotional strength… spiritual insight… and physical stamina to help her and her family get through this. Thank you Father that your tender care encompasses Sarah and her family. Help them to draw on that today and to praise you for it!

In the name of Jesus I pray for Sarah and her family and for all my sisters on VJ.

In Jesus precious and ever loving name I pray.

AMEN...AMEN...AMEN

Amen and amen!!! good.gif good.gif

Hey guys, goodnight. Been here catching up.

Congrats again to Nanny and her must-be beautiful little girl.

Everybody else who has good news--congrats and for those undergoing strife--as someone stated earlier--God never gives us more than we can handle.

Lawny--good to have you back and sorry to hear about all the trials that you are going through right now. I am happy to hear that you received an interview date.

About your brother that is having heart trouble--what exactly did the doctor say was wrong with his heart? I hope this doesn't scare you but here is a little synopsis of what they are proposing to do.

Sometime one's heart can go into an abnormal rhythm and has to be shocked back to a normal rhythm. One's heart can fibrillate or flutter (beat without pumping) adn when blood is not pumped the right way from the heart t can clot and cause problems. Sometime IV medications can be used to regulate the heartbeat and if that does not work after a few days, they use the defribrilator to send an electrical shock to your heart, stopping the heart and then it might or will return to its normal beat. Sometimes it takes more than one shock to make this work. Have you ever seen when a person has a heart attack on an TV show and they use those pads to shock them and their body jerks? That is exactly the same thing only the heart is still beating and they have to actually stop it so it restarts normally.

I know this sounds scary but it can be a lifesaver for your brother. At the same time an anesthesiologist is there with sedatives and analgesics to present the pain and so he does not remember the event. They are also there just in case the patient loses his air way, they can immediately intubate them and put them on the breathing machine till their breathing is spontaneous. They never leave the bedside unitl the patient is fully recovered.

I do this on a regular basis in out ICU and it has always been successful and there never was any need to intubate. This is done on very old and sick people also with success.

I hope I did not scare you, but it a good thing for your brother. Just pray and put him in Gods' hands and ask him to guide the cardiologist's hands and all will be well Hoping to hear some good news soon. good.gif good.gif

Hey yardies!!

What's going on with everybody? I hope all is well with you all. I have a quick question for those who filed during the time JA became an appointment post.

When your SO went for their interview in Kingston, were they asked for the second copy of the police certificate? I sent on in with the DS-230 packet and have the other one at home. Tonya told me that was one of the things they asked Drew for--the second copy of the PC.

Has anyone else experienced this??

Mawning My wonderful VJ Family,

Welcome back Jengy (& Missa Jengy- good.gif )!!! Congrats to Minfey and Fam! Ok, I have alot of reading to do! Ken, I & the family, had a VERY busy weekend. We took the boys to the movies, helped my cousin moved, went to my son's hockey, soccer, & track games and I finally took Ken out dancing in Brooklyn on Sunday night (music was great...but Ken was not impressed wid the security pon top of security, no smoking in the club rules...etc.-he now understands why we (Americans or Farriner's) have such a good time when we go down to JA.) But it was ALL good!

He met a few more of my cousins, (who I am very close with and was very nervous about cause they are so important to me) another Aunt & Uncle and they all LOVED him!! Ken actually busted his hump helping my cousin and her hubby move this weekend and they really appreciated his help!

I come from a VERY CLOSE knit family and they are tough on new applicants trying to get in laughing.gif ...they couldn't stand my ex...but they all LOVED Ken!!!!! biggrin.gif Don't get me wrong whether they liked him or not...I wouldn't be backing down from our marriage. Ken's my ONE...he's that 'once in a lifetime' love we all read about! But, it just makes life so much easier when they all get along. Trust me...I learned that from Marriage #1!

Life is good! I am so very blessed to have him, and him, me... wink.gif Life has been so much better since he arrived for EVERYONE!! I get to sleep in late, cause he makes Breakfast and takes care of the boys! He has started helping my Dad (who IMO has a hording problem laughing.gif ) start cleaning out our basement and other hiding holes around the house!

The one issue I have found is my pace. I don't know if anyone else had this problem when their SO first got here. But I have been a single Mom for 7-8 years now...so I am use to doing things at my pace and being ready and having my kids ready... when I'm ready (which is usually quick fast! laughing.gif ). Now, I have to adjust to working at other persons pace and being patient cause his pace is not as fast as mine. I was PMSing last week and blew-up at Ken cause I was waiting on him. I apologized profusely and explained the issue I was having. We talked it out and he is trying to speed up is pace and I am learning to slow mine and 'TRY' to give us more time to do what we have to do to be out!

Other than that all is well...seriously REALLY WELL biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ! I'm following JG's lead and think putting this stuff out there b/c it may help someone else learn from my mistakes and I may get some good tips on how to better handle this situation next time!

Have Bless-ed day Family...now let me get back to my 'catch-up' reading!

Gill

P.S.- Who had their interview again today? Well, good luck to you both and you are in my prayers!!

Thanks for the update Gill. Sounds like you all are having a great time. Nice to hear about Ken. I know what you mean bout slowing down your pace and such. Its just that American lifestyle...plus your in NY and i can tell you it is SUPER fast pace down there, I'm from LA and we all know thats a fast lifestyle, but when I visited NY...oh no!! I felt as sloe as a country bumpkin so I can imagine Ken having a hard time to keep up with the lifestyle. i think its good that he's around to slow you down a bit. I gotta say...when I was in NY I was like "man, these people are crazy anxious. its like everybody all stressed out and ready to kill somebody!" Yeah...apparently NY is NOT for me. haha

Lita that was one of the reasons I moved to NC. Slower pace and more laid back. After living in NYC for 20+ years, I needed to get away from all that stress. Don't miss it at all and going on 2+ years.
