Morning all!

Welcome to the US, Ken!!

WELCOME HOME KEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok guys- I have two questions.
1) how much is the AOS fee?
2) I read on the USCIS website that the SO birth cert. has to have BOTH parent's names. My husbands is the certified long form but it does NOT have his father's name..... does this mean i am going to have trouble??

I thought you didn't have to go through AOS if you file IR1/CR1. Thought it was just for K-1/K3 visa.

In the CR1 route AOS means Avidavit of Support...not Adjustment of Status.n the CR1 route AOS means Avidavit of Support...not Adjustment of Status. Don't ask me why you have to PAY to tell NVC that you can support your spouse, but its a $70 fee. Got mine waiting to be sent off right now.

Lita, the $70 is the processing fee to review the AIS forms/package.

Dimples;

I tried to respond to your query about the interview letter earlier, but VJ is acting up and I couldn't.

I have not yet received the letter and they claim it was mailed out on 3/24. I hope I get it this week to forward to Mike. He went ahead and scheduled his medical for 4/16 giving them enough time to get it done and forward to the embassy for the interview date.

Question to you Dimps? How long did it take you to receive the interview letter? Did you find out about it before by calling NVC?

I found that the USPS Express Mail flat rate envelope has been the best way to mail things - It's a flat fee of $25, and so far, it has taken about 4 days to reach (they say it takes 6-8). Plus, there is tracking included with it -

USPS to where?

To Jamaica - I have used it to send to Ocho Rios, Portland, and Negril -

I see. That is considerably cheaper than DHL or Fed ex. I used them last year and it cost me $60. Fed Ex was charging me $95. I hope to get the interview letter and forward it to Mike and I am just so worried that he will not get it if I send it USPS. Doesn't it have to go through the Ja mail system too? At least with DHL, they will deliver it to whatever address I send it.

Gurl...mi sarry I wouldda haffi pay deh $35 more han sen hit DHL...if in hennyweh deh JA. mail system git dem grubby likkle mitts pon hit! Maybe Sus-ie will tell yuh different!

My point exactly. I'd rather spend the extra dough for this particular mailing than chance it getting into the JA mail system.

It's been 2 years, Gill............We are still waiting for the appointment letter!

WHAT! I thought you needed it for the medical and the interview. WTH!

No worries Chica. They send one to the Bene and one to the Peti. Ken (Bene) got his...me (Peti) didn't! So as long as ONE of you gets it you should be fine! The 202 # also told me they could fax a copy FROM THE EMBASSY to you if you needed it!

Gurl, you han deh 202# ah guh be deh BEST ah friend when your time come! They even started knowing me by voice! One lady was like weren't you the one with the sneaky Baby Mama...that 'lost' your fiance's son's Birth Certificate! laughing.gif laughing.gif

Gill

Gill I have a question for you about the 202#. When do you call them? I called them this morning and they could not give me any info about Mike's case. They were only able to tell me that the case is current and is at the NVC. When I told her that the case was completed on 3/3 she was only able to tell me that the case was not yet forwarded to Kingston. Is it only after the case is forwarded to Kingston, they can access it to give you info. What kind of info did you garner from them?

Is it even necessary for me to call them. NVC told me this morning that my case has not yet been forwarded to Kingston. I got the interview date on 3/25 but it is still in NH. I thought that once an interview date is assigned, it would then be shipped immediately to Kingston.

Clariey,

Once your case is in KNG...the 202# is much more helpful! However, it may work differently for you though b/c of the visa you have! I started calling 202# once Ken dropped off his DS-230...they were able to tell me the same day that his DS-230 had been accepted and his case was complete for an interview date! But our interview dates are issued by Embassy, not NVC...they were the one's who told me WHAT the actual interview date was, what documentation I should and should NOT take down. How to proceed with KJ's visa, when Ken's visa was issued, ...etc.

I hope this info is somewhat helpful!

Bless,
Gill

Thanks Gill. I gues there is no point of me calling them then, since I have the interview date already and just waiting for the letter so I can send it to Mike good.gif

Good Morning Dear God,

Once again, I thank you for watching over us and our families. Tomorrow three of our VJ families will be interviewed at the US Embassy in Jamaica and once again Dear God, I'm on bended kness praying that you stand over the Embassy and that you guide the COs as the approve each and every petition. Lord, please continue to shower us with your many blessing as we are greatful. Lord I ask to you bless us with your grace and mercy and keep us healthy as we start a new month tomorrow; and Lord, for myself I thank you personally for given me the strength to endure all that was placed before me the last year. I thank you for guiding me to this site so that I was able to make new friends that are supportive of me. Lord, continue to bless them and their familes. All this and many more I pray dear God. Amen. Amen. Amen.

Brenda LaGrange Johnson
Brenda LaGrange Johnson of Connecticut and New York, business executive and philanthropist, is the new U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica. She was a partner since 1977 with BrenMer Industries, importing and marketing consumer products.

Ambassador Johnson is on the Duke University Advisory Board of the Nasher Art Museum. She was a founding member, President, and Chairman of the Women's Board of the Madison Square Boys and Girls Club and continues her affiliation with the Club as a trustee. In 2002, President George W. Bush appointed her to the President's Advisory Council to the Arts (PACA) for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., and in 2004, she was appointed to the Board of Trustees. Mrs. Johnson has been a member of the Woodrow Wilson Council since 1999. She also served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society and the National Institutes of Health National Cancer Advisory Board.

She is a member of the National Finance Advisory Council for the George and Barbara Bush Endowment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She is married to J. Howard Johnson and has four children and four grandchildren.

Are you sure it's not fractured? The bones in your toes are very easily fractured, and hard to tell. If the swelling does not subside, check it out. It might only be a hairline fracture but it can hurt like he!! and you toe can become deformed. You can also try soaking it in warm water and then icing it down--helps the pain. But don't sit around with it if it keep bothering you.

I LOVE having an RN on our thread...now we jus need a lawyer...anybody...anybody!

Morning ladies!

Congrats Sunny on NOA#1 that's great! Hopefully the rest will be as quick (and VT will stay just as fast by the time I file, lol)

Congrats, Lawnie! You have to be over the moon - See, I told you lots of touching would make it come! devil.gif

I don't know how you can keep it a secret, lol - I booked my next trip to JA the DAY after I returned from the last - and I spilled the beans to DJ last night, couldn't hold it in any longer! He was whining about not being with me, and not knowing when he would see me - I finally said "do you think you can make it to the 25th of May?" - He just mumbled I guess, then went on with the conversation - took about 5 minutes for it to sink in that I had given an actual date!

Congrats on the interview date, Claire!!

Thanks Sus good.gif good.gif

I remember the days of Tony's pizza in Mo Bay. It was the only place that would deliver and when we were tired after teaching we would call them and order. The pizza sure taste different but I didn't care cause I didn't have to climb any hills for my food.

Morning everyone!

Claire, I love this list! Especially these ones (even thought its like half the list)... laughing.gif

QUOTE (clairern @ Apr 30 2008, 07:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
3 You point with your lips.
4.You can't say "three" or "thing" ... you say "tree" and "ting".
5. You say words like Heg (instead of Egg); Hingland (instead of England)
9.You always find yourself standing next to plenty of luggage and boxes at the airport.
10. When you travel home, you bring an extra suitcase going down, it has none of your clothes; returning, it has food.
11. You hate to throw away empty containers as they might come in handy for pepper sauce or "green seasonings".
14.You say "bwoy" at the beginning of a sentence and "man" at the end of it.
15. You always hang something on your rearview mirror.
18. You can't go a week without a rice dish.
21. You save all juices from the cooked meats/chicken to use for flavour for your next dish.
22. You wash and rinse plastic utensils and cups that can be used again.
23. You bring home food from a party (enough for your breakfast the next morning, your lunch and your dinner!)
24. You chew the ice when you finish your drinks.
26. You show disapproval by sucking your teeth.
27. You have a dishwasher in the house and only use it for special occasions.
28. You have a thyme (or mint) bush growing somewhere in your yard.

I love them all. My brother sent it to me and I laughed so much and decided that it is worth sharing to give you guys a laugh. Glad you enjoyed it. good.gif
