Mexico, Latin & South AmericaLet's Get Great in 2008
I weighed in today and have lost 9lbs by just drinking more water and not eating when I get home from work, which is after 8pm. I plan to start WW with my co-workers. I work all kinds of crazy hours that wreak havoc on my system and I also have poor eating habits. I usually eat only one time a day and snack throughout. Bad for me but i plan to change that bad habit with the support I know I will get here. Thank you all.

Great concept. I am thinking about doing weight watchers with the ladies at work. I have started the more water drinking, but feels like I get water intoxication at times, so I am doing it slowly. My girlfriend (who was in the navy) and I weighed and measured ourselves two Sundays ago. She works out everyday and I do it maybe twice weekly. This is a great place to get support. good.gif good.gif good.gif

I know that the last time I was on that divorce was in the cards. We went pretty far with the divorce procedings but in the end things turned around and they have been getting better everyday. I am not going to go into all the details but I will say that miracles do happen and things can change in the blink of an eye. Never in a millions years did I think this is where I would be but here I am. I was all prepared to be a divorced woman papers were drawn up and everything but then God got ahold of me, of us and our marriage and made it very clear that another plan was going to be put in place. His plan. I feel like a different person...DH is like someone I never knew before. It is amazing the power God has. Transformation has truly taken place and the prayers I prayed and others prayed for many years were answered...patience truly is the key luv.gif I took a much needed break from the board and focused on some other more important things. I missed you all but I am glad to be back biggrin.gif

They are? Why were the cases assigned like 3-5 years ago and just now getting processed? My bad. it sounded like a situation where they were filed by LPR and had to wait for a visa number to come up. Why would their NVC time take so long?

Mike's dad filed for him and because he was over 21 and married he had to wait for a visa number to become available. His dad is a USC....lol

Kishmar's husband just became a USC and their case was upgraded....lol

Marlita, the NVC sends your case to the embassy after your interview date is assigned. You will hear a message that your case has been transferred to the US embassy in ...... on this date. It is after you hear this message that you do the DHL tracking.

So now I await the interview notification.

How do I find out when I get an interview? Does the NVC line tell me or do I receive something in the mail? I still have not gotten the cheklist forms for the DS230 which has been 2 weeks since they generated them. I am SOOOO excited but nervous at the same time. but the NVC needs an original AND you need one at the interview? but BOTH copies arent considered original??
Im so confused.

It confused me too. If you look at them it is hard to know the difference. What they did was put two pieces of paper together with a carbon between them and typed with a typewriter, then they attached the picture and put the police seal over the picture. So if you are not careful you could mix them up. Just send the one that is on top and bring the other with you to the interview just in case cause you never know with these people. Tonya sent in the original and they asked for the other copy at her interview. I just want someone to learn from my mistake.

Shrewdie, everytime I see your post my heart jumps becaus I so want you to get the darn NOA-2.

The best and fastest way is either DHL or Fed-Ex. Do not put it into the Ja mail system. It is a nightmare. It is best to pay the money and be sure you are going to get it than stress out over it not arriving on time. It cost Mike about Ja$2000 to send me DHL envelope.

Yes, I agree. It does not look official at all. Just a white piece of paper with the person's picture with the police seal over the picture. What you paid for is for them to search for any convictions etc. and then they give you the paper to say you have nothing on file.

Hello All,

Is there really only ONE place to apply for a police certificate? The place on oxford rd, in some town (maybe kingston) that I can't remember? My husband needs to get his ASAP, but he lives clear on the opposite side of the island, and works so he won't be able to get there til next Tuesday. He'll order it for 3 day service but, he won't be able to get back there in 3 days cause he works. So then he'll have to wait til the week following next week to pick up and then he still has to mail it to me. This has now become about a 3 week process. Am I missing something or is this my only option?

Can he ask someone to pick it up for him? My girlfriend did hers and sent her mom to pick it up. They could probably mail it to you instead of waiting for him to come pick it up and mail it to you. good.gif

Marlita;

As far as I understand the K3 visa, which is also considered a non-immigrant visa. It allows your hubby get here faster than the CR1. They both need AOS if the marriage is less than 2 years and you get a conditional green card and have to file to remove conditions before the two year period expires thus the $1010 fee. If you have been married for more than 2 years you are considered an IR-1 which is an immigrant visa and is issued a 10-year GC with no lifting of conditions and no additional fees to pay.

That is what I have garnered from reading on VJ.

Thanks for starting this thread...this will be really helpful..my hubby is in Kingston now applying for his police record...this is the website if anyone needs info for applying for the police record: http://www.mns.org.j...79/Default.aspx
I'm planning to do the email thing too...setting one up under my hubby name...he lives in the bushes too...LOL... I found another thing interesting about how NVC assigns case #(thought I would share it)
3 letters=embassy
first 4#s = year
next 3 = subtract 500 and that is the day of the year when the case was assigned (ex.724-500=224th day on calendar = 08.13)
the last couple of digits = how many petitions they received for that embassy on that day they entered it in the system(ex. 029=your the 29 petition they received for KNG)
The only thing I'm not sure about that is if they mean all petitions like CR-1, K-1s etc...or per specific petition.
Just a little knowledge I would like to share. good.gif I hope everyone has a speedy NVC experience because USCIS was sure not. whistling.gif

Oh thats really cool info about how the NVC number is generated! good.gif Thanks! i need to get my hubby crackin on the police cert. He was all ready to go and get it and surprise me with it about a month ago and I told him hold off cause i thought our case was moving slow. Now our case has sped up and I'm scared I won't get it in time. wacko.gif

No worries my dear. You can pay Ja$2000 for expedited 3-day service instead of the Ja$100 for 21-day service.

Hello All,

I decided to start a thread for all us CR1/IR1 filers petitioning for someone in Jamaica. There's alot of information that can be gathered from the VJ NVC threads but I thought that having one specific to us JA filers could help alot. There are a few things that are specific to Jamaica during the NVC process so this thread will be sort of a one-stop-shop.
  • The US Embassy in Jamaica is an appointment post embassy....this essentially means that the Embassy only performs the interview. The NVC schedules the interview and collects ALL fees and paperwork. At the time the appointment is scheduled, the NVC will send an appointment letter to all interested parties (applicant, petitioner, and agent/attorney of record, if applicable) notifying them of the date, time, and location of the interview; and forward the petition to the embassy in Kingston.
So post any questions or concerns you have during the NVC to Interview process here.

So I have a question...once Kingston receives the petition, what do they do with it? Are they just stashing it somewhere until interview time because everything else has already been done, or is there some additional paperwork or processing that they will do? And Lita...thanks again for starting this...you're a godsend...you're going to help a lot of people!! good.gif

Hey Tamisha;

I think that all Kingston does is hold the file until the interview date. They actually review the medical and conduct the interview then approve or deny the visa and issue it if approved. good.gif With this little to do I would think it would free them up to conduct interviews earlier than the two months one has to wait after case complete. Wouldn't you think???

Shrewdie;

I think the first document that you process with the NVC is the DS-3032 (choice of agent form) and the AOS (affidavit of support) fee bill of $70. After these are completed you will get the visa fee bill ($400) and after those are processed it will generate the DS-230 and the AOS packet. Barring any RFE your case should be completed with them and then they will schedule your interview and forward your case to the embassy and send you, your hubby and agent the interview letter.

Good luck!
