K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC letter, but no NOA2
QUOTE (Bill & Bea @ May 20 2009, 04:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I received a letter today from the NVC which states:

"The State Department's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place."

It gives me the MNLXXXXX case number.

I have NOT received an NOA2 letter from VSC.

Do I need it for the interview?

Medical?

Is THIS letter enough to get us through at this time?

Thank you for any clarification you can give.

What the hell is VSC doing these days?
No website updates, no email updates, and now... no hard copies???

QUOTE (tyriun_j @ May 21 2009, 01:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Okay here is my situation...

My fiance is coming down in a couple of weeks to visit for a few months just on her passport. My whole family has been hounding me to get married while she is down here. I havent been able to give any of them a valid answer cause I thought we couldnt do that but they say that we could do it easily so Im wanting to get the facts straight! Is it possible while shes down here to get married when shes only down here on her passport? If so how would we go about it? We would still go through the right channels to have her down here legally ( K-3 VISA ) but we are curious if we could get married while shes on her vacation here. If anyone knows if this is possible or how to go about it please let me know. Thanks. I appreciate it

Jared

Of course you can marry, but she will need to return home before her visa waiver expires.

You should first decide if she is your fiancee (as you state here) or you wife (as you state in your another post).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Criminal Backgroud Checks
QUOTE (kona @ Sep 11 2009, 02:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey,

A quick question to all you experts out there... If i was in the USA for summer 2003 and From May 2004 to September 2005 both on J1 visas, for sending in packet 3 do i need to obtain a police background check for the USA as well as the normal UK police certificate? Since a J1 is a non-immigratory visa was I ever "living" in the USA or just staying there while using the visa? And if i do need to get hold of an american criminal background check before the interview, how do i get hold of one exactly since ACRO say during the UK police check they don't check other countries and they dont know how i would anyway!?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Max

No US "police cert" is required in connection with any application. They will do background checks themselves.

Hello all,

So what happens to all the evidence beneficiary brings after the interview? Does the beneficiary get to take it back or does the vo keep it? I'm doing a co-sponsor and my co-sponsor is a bit worried about what happens to the documentation with his sensitive information on it.

Thanks.

Sponsor's I-134 with supporting documentation lands inside sealed envelope fiance gets together with his/her passport/visa and must be surrendered to CBP officer at the POE. It is ultimately forwarded to USCIS and becomes part of alien's A file.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUmlaut in last name

congrats on your engagement

I would keep the Umlaut in there. I personally don't have any experience with it but it does say to fill it according to the information in your passport. Also, as you already said, you might not want to end up with a totally different name. The USCIS has seen applications from all over the world - including names as Nuñez and Bjørn and they probably know how to put in special characters ;)

check for similar topics right under these posts - e.g. this one
all the best!

Keep the umlaut in your application. They will either leave is as is, or more likely change it to an A and that's what you actually want, right?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEmployer Address?

On forms like the G-325A and I-134, it asks for the address of your employer. Andy (petitioner) works for an information technology company, but he works from home and so we're not sure what to answer for the address (his home address, the corporate main office which is in PA (he's in NC) or...?)

Anyone else work from home or know what they're looking for here?

Use the company address as printed on his paystubs, most likely it will be where his corporate office is located.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA Canadian Citizen getting Marry to US Permanent Resident (Green Card)

Hello Every One,
I am a Canadian Citizen living in Ontario (Toronto) and in IT profession. Have worked in US on TN1 Visa in the past for two years.
My Fiancee a Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) living with her teen age daughter in New Jersy state.
I also have three kids two are above eighteen (18) years and are studying in canadian Universities. My only daughter is thirteen (13) years of age. I wish to keep my daughter with me in US.
Me and my fiancee are planning to marry soon and I would like to settle in US along with my daughter but so far I have no status in US to start/ find my/ any job there.
My questions are:
1- what type of form can be submitted by my fiancee that I should be eligible to start work in US?
2- How long is the process?
3- How my daughter can stay with me and start her schooling there. Currently she is in grade 7 in Canada?

Looking forward to hear from you soon.
Thanks in advance.
Truly Yours,
Nadz

Permanent residents can't petition for fiance, must be an US citizen to do that.

You crack me up, Birch-Beer!!!! I have a few pairs of Dockers and have worn them before when I was in first class.....only because I was still married to an Am Airlines employee and flew as employee spouse and they have a dress code if you fly in business or first. But it was damn hot when I got off that plane in BKK wearing those things!! Of course, just was not used to the heat although I should be since it's hotter than ####### here in NC and I wear them to work with a tie. But I know her impression is more important than mine since they won't interview me but I won't look like a slob.

And I have multiple copies of all the documents just to be on the safe side if they ask for more copies. That weighs a ton as it is!! lol.....but what the heck. I just might throw in the Levis.

Quick question. On the I-134 affidavit of support, question #8, I still pay en ex-wife spousal support because of the screwed up Calif. laws. While I do not feel she is dependent on that money, I am trying to decide if I should list her or not. It automatically comes out of my paycheck and shows a deduction on my stub but I doubt they would even know what it was because of the way it's listed. Should I list her as being partially dependent?

Thanks!!

Shawndoc, out interview is the 21st and I am leaving for BKK on the 16th.

My fiancee thinks I should bring my Levis to wear to the interview. I always only bring shorts since that's all I wear when I am there. I know how she dresses may make a difference, but what about me? I like to be comfy!! Anyone had any insight into that?

Had time this afternoon to go through all my documents and make sure I have all that I will need for the interview. When it comes to emails, I have printed up nearly 3 years of email sent and received logs from Yahoo and a about 3-4 emails a year from Nov of 2005. The email logs are pretty thick. Anyone have some input on maybe I just take 3-4 pages from different parts of every year to put with the emails to show the email trail? It would certainly cut down on the weight of the stuff I have to carry over. I already have more than I ever thought I'd need just to be on the safe side.

I've got a serious question and I'm losing sleep over it. A couple weeks ago, I sent in a fiancee visa petition and I thought I was completely thorough with the process. I wish I had found this site sooner! I had asked my fiancee countless times over the past several months if she had been married and she said no. All the forms sent in marked her as single. Two days ago, I called her and she starts bawling telling me that she didn't want my feelings hurt, but she had been married before to some deadbeat that she didn't want to even think about. I could not believe it.

I should have seen it coming, I knew it was too good to be true. I wanted to explode. I kept my cool and asked her if she had a divorce certificate, which she did, and she scanned a copy and emailed it to me.

I know I'm probably in a load of $#1T, but what should be the next step? Call USCIS and tell them to burn my petition so I can start over? I still love her with all my heart. I'm concerned that we may have well messed up any chance of getting a visa and living happily ever after.

I'd call them and ask what you should do...or wait for the approval letter and then call. But to speed it up see if they advise you to mail it in...but you would need a case number I imagine or it will get lost in the shuffle.

Here is the answer I received tonight from the embassy concerning translated documents:

You do not have to have translated documents certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. To have them translated by a competent translator will be sufficient.

Maybe the cops don't hit up farang women for cash every chance they get. They sure do it to farang men. Happened to me and many of mates multiple times during the 3 years I lived there. I'm not bashing anyone. It's just a fact that the police in Thailand are corrupt. It's like the sun rising in the East every day. Personally, I think it has it's advantages. I would love it if the next time the Texas State Police pulled me over, I could give them $3 and be on my way. It is what it is. Nothing more, nothing less.

LOL, try getting stopped by a N. Carolina state trooper 3am 10 miles over the speed limit on 95 north....

I think this translation/certification of documents needs some clarifying. Most of us are relying on the regular translation and the translator certifying the documents and that is enough. If there is now a more expensive and thorough process, we should try to find out before some of us have significant delays. So I will write the embassy and inquire and maybe others can try to find out also and see what answers we come up with.

I normally fly AA exclusively since I used to be married to a res agent...loved those free flights or cheap first class!!!....and that's where all my miles are and I just like them, but two days ago it was around $1260 or so RT from North Carolina....but you check today and see what it is even at BTS which I have used in the past. After BTS adds on a zillion bucks in taxes it's still about the same price or more than booking directly with AA. They said they were going to raise the fares after posting such huge losses yesterday but I didn't think they would do it this fast. Everytime I have gone over the flights have been full so they can't be losing money on the intl. flights. It's only going to get worse in Sept. when they all start eliminating flights. I don't know how much it will affect intl. flights since there are not as many as domestic, but I am sure it will have some impact on at least getting to your final destination if it's not one of the major airports that the intl. flights land at.
