I have never flown on either of them, but how was American Airlines to Peru? I have flown on American to florida and to Puerto Rico - seemed OK to me. Just wanted to double check smile.gif

When I took American Airlines this summer I had a bad experience. I had to take an earlier flight so I called them to have them change my LAN flight as well. I was taking LAN to Miami and American to Raleigh. So when I got to the airport on the day I was supposed to go home the LAN ticket agents told me my flight was canceled. Naturally I was very upset and a little afraid. I called American Airlines in Peru and they told me it wasn't there fault it was LAN and of course LAN told me it was American Airlines fault. I had to have my mother call from the US and yell at them, eventually I was able to get another flight out of the country that night. Unfortunately, they removed me from the comfy LAN flight from Lima to Miami so I had to take American the whole way. When I got home I filled a complaint and they gave me $300 back.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHi, I'm from Peru
I have flown both on Lan and American airlines from Miami to Lima. Lan by far was the best for comfort, I have to say it was the best airline I have ever been on, and I have done a bit of world traveling. I am taking delta to Lima this week and Avianca to Lima at Christmas. Has anyone flown on them?

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHi, I'm from Peru
Hello all!

I have a question regarding the documents for the CR1/IR-1 path. I am stuck in Vermont but want to get some of my documents ready. If I understand correctly these are the documents that I need:

Cover Letter
DS-230
Birth Certificate
Court and Prision Records (Antecedentes Judiciales a Nivel Nacional)
Deportation Records (N/A)
Marriage Certificate
Military Records (Certificado de Antecedents Judiciales y/o Penales" issued
by the "Consejo Supremo de Justicia Militar)
Photo copy of his passport
Police Certificates (Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales, Certificado Policial, Certificado de Antecedentes Penales)
Two Photographs
Copy of the I-130 Packet

Does this look right to you? Also how long are the three police certificates valid for? Thanks!!

We always fly with Lan but the prices are astronomical, they around $2500 for Christmas time, good luck searching.

We are back home, the weather in NYC is pretty nice, the flight was excellent, the bad part was to say good bye, always extremely sad, it' s SO hard to say good bye to my family but I might go back by myself in January dependig in what the doctor says.

Saludos

Avianca is like $600 from Miami to Lima. I like Lan but as you said they are very high.

Very cool! I met Luis when I started my bachelors, I am just finishing up now. I am getting my BA in Hispanic Languages & Literature, Minor in Latin American & Caribbean Studies and Secondary Education Certification (a lot of stuff! LOL). Well, when I first started out, I was fluent but my spelling wasn't that great and also I was making a lot of errors when I was writing essays the first semester. So I started practicing in a chatroom that is called spanglish chat. Luis was trying to learn English and we were talking. He took my MSN name and then pretty much every day we talked on there. Nothing really happened till one day I was like, hey I have international minutes let's talk on the phone (I had bought a phone card to call my cousin overseas and still had credit on it).

Well, the rest is history. I've been to Peru 2 times, we talk on the phone at least an hour every day, and am almost done with school! Time flies! Luis proposed to me when I went to Peru last time. He threw an engagement party too without me even knowing that it was for that reason, it was really great. I was like, 'what were you going to do if I said no?' and he just laughed.

I stayed in San Bartolo, it was summer when I went so we went beach-hopping (Luis is really into surfing). We went to Santa Maria del Mar, Punta Negra, Punta Hermosa, etc. We stayed on the beach in an apartment in San Bartolo which was really nice. We went to Lurin, Lima (Miraflores, Ate - where his brother's business is, and el centro de Lima), Chosica (which is beautiful we had a really nice time there). It was really great. There's still a lot of places I want to see, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Huancayo etc. I didn't get to go last time. There will be chances in the future though!

How did you like living in Peru for 2 months? I was there for almost one month. What do you do for a living here in the USA? How old are you? (I know this isn't 21 questions, haha) I'm just curious & bored at work.

So you will be teaching? Spanish or history I presume? What do you do now? My husband is trying to teach me Spanish but I am just very bad at it and have so little time to study!! I am also trying that rosetta stone program. None of his family speaks English so I really want to learn Spanish!

How was Peru during the summer? If everything runs smoothly we should have our interview in Lima during their summer. I am so afraid of going during the summer!! I went at the end of April and it was so hot and I got badly sunburned.

Right now I am a full time Master's student getting a degree in Library Science. I had to quit my job when I went to Lima to get married because they would not give me a leave of absence. So currently unemployed but have a bunch of job interviews this week. good.gif I am 26. My time in Lima could have been better. For some reason I was very sick there and normally I never even catch colds! But at least I got a first hand view of the Peruvian health care system smile.gif

Oh take a look at this tee shirt. I think you will enjoy it: Check it out

My mother was born in Brooklyn and I definitely know where Port Jefferson is, my grandmother lived there for a long long time. My Parents moved to the Adirondack park when I was 10. I don't know if you know it but its about 1 hour north of Albany.

I met my husband online at tribelwars.net its a little flash game. I was trying to kill him and he begged for mercy and its been love since then tongue.gif How did you and your husband meet? Peter'n Jamie I think you are generalizing, not all teenagers and girls in the mid 20's are the same, there are cheap women everywhere, I can say the same thing about American women specially when I have to take the train to go to work (I live in NYC). Sorry it might sound that I'm taking it a little personal, maybe I am. I had similar experiences with my hubby, girls trying to hit on him when we go clubbing but I'll never hit them just give them a dirty look and say "LARGUENSE!"

Vi,
No offense was intentional, just wondering if anyone else had the same experience and how they dealt with it. And the comment about hitting them was a joke by my Peruvian family and I was never in any fights.

My first or second day in Peru I saw a fight between two Peruvian women in a restaurant, so I know they are not afraid of fighting tongue_ss.gif I only had problems with girls in the late teens and early 20's the rest of the Peruvian women where very nice and friendly even though I don't speak Spanish! But there was no chance to even confront these women because they would do it when I was not looking so I didn't even know anything happened until the woman was gone! But it happened so much!! I asked my Peruvian relatives if it happens to them and they said that they kick the girls and then their husbands!! Haha

And as far as living in San Juan de Lurigancho it really wasn't that bad. There were a lot of piranas but we had no problems with them. The only problem I had in San Juan de Lurigancho was that it was sooo noisy!!! I had a hard time sleeping!!

I was just reading in another forum that once I get my NVC case number they will then generate these forms for the petitioner. Do I have to wait for them to get mailed to my husband or do we just download them and send them in. Also- how will we know that they have been generated? Do we just have to keep on calling up

You don't have to wait for the DS-3032 to be mailed to your spouse. Once you have your NVC case number you can email it to the nvc.

Check : http://www.visajourn...il_DS-3032_form

That link will give you a template of what to write to the NVC and where to send it.

Read the following links very carefully:
http://www.visajourn...Jame's_Shortcut
http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut

These shortcuts will tell you how to reduce waiting time at the NVC. It doesn't speed the process up but lets you decrease the time waiting for them to mail things.

Unfortunately you have to call NVC everytime you want an update or need to get information. Hope that helps. good.gif

On a different note, I was looking through what documents I need to send for DS230. I just paid IV bill and waiting on it to show PAID. I will then send DS230 right away (James's Shortcuts) as it will probably take a long time for their mail to come through the snail mail. I just wanted to confirm something:
I need to send in DS230 I & II and all the documents listed on Instructions NVC site. However, I am afraid that when my wife sends the original documents from Bangladesh, it might get misplaced, and so is it ok for me to give them certified copies of everything (birth certificate, police certificate, marriage documents)?

thanks

We have the same problem with mail in Peru. You send something in the mail there and it never gets to its destination. Letters sent to Peru sometimes arrive. I sent all of my papers through American mail services such as UPS and DHL and had no problems.

When you pay the fee online you have to wait until the status changes to paid. Once it says paid you can print out the coversheet. On that coversheet is a bar code, your case number, and your spouses name. I used this to send in my packets.

Yes, you have to pay an Affidavit of Support or (AOS) and Immigrant Visa (IV) bill. The AOS is $70 and the IV is $400. If you get all your documents from your foreign spouse and you are prepared you can fly through the NVC. Someone just made it through the NVC this month in 11 days.
